This is another classic dark ride from the park. It starts off as a fun river raft type ride and then has a pretty sick drop at the end. The Jurassic ride at Universal Hollywood has been an attraction I've enjoyed for over two decades as I live on the west coast. When I heard Universal Orlando kept theirs Jurassic Park themed versus Jurassic World, I was super stoked for my trip in December 2024 with my parents. The concept is the same between parks, but loved it being a little different. Still a great ride regardless of what coast you are on. Bring a poncho, and be prepared for a wild adventure where you will get wet. Pro tip: there are dryers if you want to purchase time to drive yourself off. Such a classic movie ride experience!! It was a cold 50degrees for Florida, so there was a 5 minute wait/walk on for Jurassic Park because no one wants to get wet on a cold day. But if you're coming to Universal from out of state/out of country you're going to experience this ride who cares!!! It's good to see the ride path at the end of the drop and see what the water blast can be lol. Long live Jurassic park!! read more

This was the most fun of the rides I took at Universal Studios, other than the getting my shorts soaked. I was in a middle row on the boat so I didn't get the worst of it directly but the water that was on the seat flowed to where I was sitting. Yuck. The rafts follow a pretty smooth path with a couple of monsters that pop up and spray water. And then, the raft goes "off course" into the raptor containment area. A few more "scary" monster pop up spitting "venom" which is actually just water. A climb up a ramp before it drops the raft like a flume. And then you get to the unloading dock. Five or so minutes of ride. Pretty easy. Tip: Bring a towel for this one. Or you can pay $7 ($7!) for a few minutes in one of the drying machines. This ride is a classic islands of adventure water ride. It's iconic, it has an amazing drop, and the ride gets you pretty wet. However, my only complaint is the animatronics. The T. rex looks very cool and doesn't look to dated. But the rest look very malnourished and old. This ride has been opened since 1999 but still, I feel like they should renovate the animatronics. However besides that, I recommend this ride! read more

Hey, it's a good time. What's not to like about the marriage of animatronic vinyl dinosaurs, squirting water, and an 85 foot gravity drop with a shoe-ruining splashdown? Much like the Jurassic Park movies, that got better technologically as the series progressed, this ride was definitely made a while ago. Ostensibly, many years before the Universal Hollywood upgrade featuring top billed film stars in their line queue videos, and much better sound. But it's still enjoyable ride, and with a fast pass, most of the time it's a "walk right on." The story concept is pretty straightforward: an educational tour gets bumped off course and into danger, augmented by escape velociraptors and an inexplicable uphill climb through some kind of control building for the park? I don't know. But it's entertaining, and if you went in the summer like we did, you are already soaked from the last thunderstorm that hit before you could get your cheap plastic Amazon parka on over your clothes. Like all good rides, it ends in the gift shop, and unlike the ride itself, the concessions are up-to-date with all of the movies. Definitely worth your time, whether for a laugh, or a cheap family gamble of who's going to get the big crotch splash at the bottom of the hill. read more

Universal's Island of Adventure (Florida) JURASSIC PARK pavilion Missed getting on Jurassic Park - The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood in California during its stint and now after running for 22 years, just like the dinosaurs, it's now extinct! All is not lost for me... I got a chance to ride it here at Universal Studios Florida and I totally love it! We boarded a tour boat that took us to a scenic aquatic tour through the grounds of Jurassic Park. Lots of oohs and ahhhs during our little journey in the beginning... but you know how it goes, our pleasure journey shortly took a turn to chaos as our tour boat mistakenly made a wrong turn and we needed to escape the jaws of the mighty T-Rex... so down we go!! Yes, we got splashed towards the plunge of an 85 foot drop near the end of the ride! It wasn't a surprise to me... I watched this part at the ride in Hollywood when my kids rode it. I don't know if sitting anywhere in the ride would've escaped the water but, whether you get splashed a little or a lot, with the heat and humidity in Florida it was refreshing LoL! Oh, also, at exit you can find a people dryer machine. Actually, they have these machines at all the watery rides inside the park. It's the first I've seen! This is a good idea! I love Jurassic Park Adventure and as a person who is not a big fan of water rides, I like to consider this one more of a dry ride and I try to ride this ride every time I visit the park. Located at the backside of Islands of Adventure, this boat ride takes you on a journey inside the world of Jurassic Park and you're exposed to all the dinosaurs displayed in the movies until you make a wrong turn.... and.... If you don't want to get wet, try seating in the back -- you will get minimally wet but don't expect to come out of the ride dry. You will still be a little watered down. But don't think of it as a ride you will get soaked in. The ride itself is great that you won't mind a little wetness on your body. Plus -- it's a great ride to just relax in. read more

final Drop is dope. Marvelous we have visited this in off season so it was only 10 minutes wait for us. Lucky us :) as people have waited even 2-3 hours for this ride in peak season Each boat holds plenty of people. when it starts, the Jurrasic Park theme music, and when the gate opens, you get goosebumps. The beginning is a little boring, where dinosaurs are emerging from water or bushes, but the atmosphere is great and kids seemed to love it. you will feel the fire heat. You get squirt by water no matter where you sit. Then after you go off the path into the raptor containment area where you can hear a panicked voice telling you to turn around. The tiny dinosaurs are eating an employee's shirt as you go underneath a shaking cage that emits enraged velociraptor sounds. The last corner takes you straight into the path of a T-rex that looms out of the fog. The ride eventually raises you up to the top of the control tower and from there to escape the Tyrannosaurus Rex you are dropped from a height with a splash. the climb is in totally dark so you don't know how big the drop would be. that was fun. The finale is fantastic and what really makes this water ride special. I have read many reviews where people are saying you 'll get wet/soaked completely. See if you are front, chances are you 'll get wet, but not completely and no, you won't be soaked in water. I was at 3rd row and there was just a splash of water. I have carried our ponchos with me but if you don't carry, its still fine. There is a great observation area outside the ride at the water drop and i have taken few beautiful shots of it read more

One of the better rides, the only reason I took a star away was because two of the animatronics were broken and didn't work when we went through. Jurassic Park River Adventure is a water ride located in Islands of Adventure. Overall it's a great experience. You ride through some great scenery that takes you into the storyline of the movie. Lots of destruction caused by all of the animals that escaped and the stress of being hunted by a hungry viscous raptor. At the end of the ride a T-Rex appears snarling with a wide open mouth. Your boat is forced to ride through the mouth that turns out to be the start of a pitch-black 85ft drop. No matter how many times that I have been on this ride the drop still gives me anxiety. read more

I loved this ride. I went through the single rider line to get on, and the wait was very short. I sat at an outside seat near the front, and while I did get a little wet, I definitely wasn't soaked. The ride takes you through the lagoon, where you are greeted by "friendly" dinosaurs, and then all of the sudden you're in the danger zone because your boat has been thrown off-course into the raptor containment area. This is where the fun begins. You are lunged at by various dinosaurs attempting to get you. It's hilarious to see the dinosaurs that have escaped and invaded the control room. The final drop, as part of your "emergency evacuation" is preceded by a very steep crawl in the dark, only to drop into the end of the lagoon with a big splash. Very fun, not scary, and I laughed my way through. read more

So much of my review from 6 years ago still stands but let me make some slight edits... I know this is strange but for me Jurassic Park is THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME! It really scares the bajeebus out of me. When the guy is on the toilet! AH! The velociraptors...are you kidding me!? Oh the raptors were in many of my nightmares. They open doors!!! Good Gracious, I think I'm going to have a nightmare tonight reliving this all in my mind right now. Anyways, for me, this ride captured everything I experienced watching the movie. It's a bit corny but still...scared the heck out of me just because it reminded me of all the horror in the movie! Just hearing the Jurassic Park score playing starts freaking me out. The ride just like the movie starts off with Jurassic Park being a lovely place for nice, lovely little dinosaurs just living harmoniously with each other and nature. THEN! The Hadrosaur steers you off course and sirens start sounding! Ohhhhh great!!!! I'm not going to spoil the rest for you but trust me, it's the stuff my nightmares are made of. And it ends with you getting completely drenched! Splash Mountain ain't got nothing on this as far as wetness goes. I will ride this every time I'm at Islands of Adventure and every time I will scare myself to death. You can usually get on this ride with very minimal wait because it's a water ride and because it's honestly a bit outdated. I have always been a fan of the Jurassic Park movies, so when Joe K and I encountered this ride during our stroll though Universal's Islands of Adventure, well, we just HAD to experience it! But before proceeding into unknown territory, we decided to watch what happens to the raft riders during the ending of their visit from the mysterious park. The rafts would emerge from the park as a gate opens to let them careen down the rapids and of course splash water onto nearby observers! It didn't appear to me that the riders themselves suffered too much from getting wet. But boy was I wrong!!! As we joined others getting onto an inflatable raft, the Jurassic Park gateway opens and our tour begins as a relaxing river ride with some lovely jungle views, waterfalls and harmless wildlife. It doesn't take long though before aggressive dinosaurs start showing themselves in menacing ways. We barely escape with our lives multiple times! Soon, we must enter a dark cave where scientists have been housing specimens of the prehistoric variety, except some of these creatures have escaped and bent on revenge! More heart pounding encounters ensue as our raft races away from the hungry velociraptors only to come face to face with a huge T-Rex! That's when we escape once again by heading straight through the legs of this monster and out the gates falling a few stories downward to either your death or safety! The ride will make that decision for you! LOL! We all ended up drenched, but grateful to have survived! read more

Cool ride on a boat, not as terrifying as the dinosaur ride at WDW. It wasn't in the dark so you can see when the dinosaurs are about to come about and no jump out at you it getting too close. There are a few drops and it is the least soaking of the water rides but possibly if you're unlucky you'll get the bulk of the soaking depending on where you're sitting (front or middle). Overall fun especially for water ride lovers and fans of Jurassic park. As a side note for $5 you can rent the giant walk in blow dryers to dry off if you got too wet after the rides read more

I love this ride. It starts out so serene. You hear the typical Jurassic Park gentile music. You see beautiful scenery and dinosaurs in their "natural" habitat. Ahh a gentile boat ride. Then all hell breaks loose and its dark and you're screaming and shaking and getting splashed all over and then the big hill. Its perfect. I always find myself laughing at the whole ordeal and clapping at the end because "we did it!" Yes we did. And I'll do it again and again. read more

I never understand why they don't close the gate to the raptor pens? Seems like a disaster waiting to happen! This is a terrific water ride. Now what I loved about this ride is that 20 seconds into it, you go up a really steep incline and then there is 10-foot drop which (unfortunately) fails to get you wet. Next, there is at 200 second educational River tour about dinosaurs, which ends when you are knocked off-course and you go inside a white building, which contains a super steep incline and some dinosaurs which spit on you and make some funny hissing noises!!!! Suddenly, as you look at the T-Rex, the raft goes through an 85-foot free fall and gets everyone (a little) wet!!! 10 seconds over, the ride is over. Wait time without a Universal Fast Pass takes about 45-60 minutes. The cost of each attraction at each Universal attraction costs $31 per adult. read more

Walking through the Jurassic park gates and hearing the signature music gives me chills! Their water ride (not the crazy fast one) leaves you minimally wet afterwards. You ride through to see some of the gentle dinosaurs, and it feels like you're seeing some of them up close. The t-Rex at the end is pretty fabulous as well as the surprise drop. read more

Before you know it you've now purchased this 3-day photo package deal just because this one photo is part of the collection. (Which now you're already planning on putting on coffee mugs and Christmas cards and...) So this ride - probably 3-stars, if we're being honest, gets 5 because of that one really wild surprise drop straight down that threw you and everyone else in your boat off their game and freaked the (bleep) out of everyone. read more

If you love the Jurassic Park movies this is a must. For a water ride, it is one of the BEST. You will get wet on this one. It's a river ride that moves slowly with one big drop. Some will get more wet than others. It's not a scary ride and the attention to details is great. You start off in a large boat, with a very short initial drop into a long "jungle cruise"-esque tour. Just like the Disney ride, Jurassic Park has plenty of animatronic dinosaurs, although things take a much darker turn sooner rather than later. I don't want to spoil the ride for you (although some already have in other reviews), but it's a blast. A must-do! You will get wet! This ride is so cool! Even though I always ride this when I'm at Islands of Adventure, there's nothing like the first time. Once you climb aboard and the ride is underway, there's nothing like riding through those huge gates as they open with the Jurassic Park theme music playing. I actually got goose bumps the first time! It's like you're really going into Jurassic Park. Universal really hit it out of the park with this one! You ride through and see animatronic dinosaurs, but that's not the thrill. The thrill is the big drop that you know is coming. You really get a feel for how big this drop is going to be when you're practically lying on your back as the tracks are pulling your raft upwards. Want to know the size of the drop? Ok, I'll tell ya... 85 feet. HUGE DROP! HUGE SPLASH! Many, many people (adults and kids) stand below and they get soaked from head to toe every time one of the rafts comes flying down. Ride before the big drop, your raft will stop and a huge T-Rex will appear in front of you and roar. This IS NOT the time to take a photo (as I found out the hard way LOL). I'd been on this ride many times and once I decided to take a pic right before the drop. Well people, they are watching you on cameras and they saw me pull out my camera. They actually stopped the ride and told me over the speakers to put my camera down. I'm looking around sheepishly like "who? me?" as I slowly put my camera down. It took a good 5 minutes for the ride to start back up and for us to make the drop. Oppps... my bad! Hahahahaha! Will you get wet? Yes! Will you get soaked? Maybe. I have discovered you get the least wet if you sit in the middle section of the raft. Those towards the front and the back tend to catch the most water. I personally do not like to get soaked, so that's where I always make sure to sit. I've still gotten wet every single time, but I have yet to get soaked sitting there. Will it scare your kids? Possibly. I always say, no one knows your kid better than you. Have fun and hang on tight! read more

The Jurassic Park River Adventure is one of the flume rides at Universal. We were uneasy about going on this ride in January, but since it was cold AND raining we figured we had nothing to lose. The ride is mostly a lazy river with a few hills and splashes, but tells a fun story with lots of dinosaurs hassling you along the way. It should be noted that this was the only ride we came across that only had pay lockers, none complimentary, so we opted to keep our backpack with us. It did not get splashed at all from the ride and we barely did as well, but the people in the front row got soaked. If you do happen to get too wet or cold, you can pay for a round in one of the people bake ovens they have outside the ride's gift shop. read more

This has a pretty decent drop for a water ride. I was seated on an end seat near the back and barely got wet. That was okay since it wasn't all that hot that day, but I was still surprised given the splashes the boats made viewed from the restaurant next door. Yeah, duh, they go outward, though it does look like passengers near the front get considerable wetter. The first dinosaur we saw looked pretty unimpressive, sitting there stiff as a board. I don't know if it's neck was supposed to move but it looked more like it belonged at Dinosaur World than Universal Orlando Resort. Later creatures were more realistic. Spoiler alert: The Gremlin looking bugger who spits water at you is a scream and the ride really starts to shape up once it moves indoors but overall this ride felt a bit dated compared to some attractions here to me. I didn't wait long at all for this River Adventure in the single rider line. It's an okay ride but I wouldn't want to wait a long time for it. If it's a hot day and you're looking to cool off, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges looks a lot more fun. (I didn't ride it, but I've been on similar, less thematic white river rafting rides.) read more

A giant Jurassic water ride?!? Count me IN!! My son wouldn't go on this ride the first time we came to Universal, but this time it was a no brainer. He loves dinosaurs as much as I do and we got to nerd out a bit naming the dinosaurs on the ride. If you like the movie or dinosaurs in general you have to go on this ride. This is one of the rides where Universal simply 'did it right.' The effects are cool, the dinosaurs aren't going to scare the heck out of you (well, maybe the last one will-and make sure nothing jumps out at you from the bushes) but they are very well done, but the ride ends with an excellent splash that will leave you soaked-depending on where you sit. Seriously, the last drop is better than almost every log flume-like ride I've ever ridden. The line CAN get long, but on a hot day...or just a warm one for that matter...this ride is worth waiting for if you like water/thrill rides. Watch out for the T-Rex!!! read more

I got on this ride because of the short 5 minute wait. I didn't really think much, but knowing the ride now, I definitely won't consider it again. Yes, I agree the drop at the end is fun. But everything is such a gimmick to get you wet, so you can pay for the ponchos or the drying machine. The water itself looks very dirty. Maybe I am biased. Maybe 8 year old Blue is thinking this is the best ride of all time because I loved the movie so darn much. Or, maybe this is just a super dope ride - located in a dope ass "land". Mind you this review is for the land AND ride...the land might actually carry the most weight here. Your journey starts as you cross over the bridge into "Jurassic Park". The huge gates. The infamous logo. The MUSIC! YES...THAT MUSIC. The theme song of JP plays softly in the background as you enter the land, and can't help but feel you are truly going to "ride the movies" (is this Universals tag line still!?!). Then there's possibly my favorite photo op of all theme parks - a huge T-REX peeking out of the bushes over the famous yellow and green car from JP. Fun fact: During Grad Weekend I actually managed to make it up into the T-REX mouth and dangled from it for an amazing photo. I don't think it's allowed, nor do I recommend anyone do it - but man that was an awesome photo. I actually think since then they have moved the positioning of the T-REX so you can't hang from his mouth anymore. At the River Adventure I don't remember anything particularly special about the queue. The ride is a river adventure (duh), that slowly creeps you down the river identifying various dinosaurs along the way. Then you go in the other direction, wind up in a warehouse...going up...and up...and up...then it ends with a final drop and slide down the side of the building to the outside, and eventually cause a huge splash - there's a surprise in there that I'll let you experience if you haven't heard about it yet. You may get wet, so plan accordingly. I love you JP and even though this ride needs an overall facelift, still ranks up there for the overall experience. This is as close as we will get to experiencing a real Jurassic Park.........or is it? read more

If you sit in the front row, you're going to want to put a parka over you or your stuff because you are definitely in the Splash Zone. I always forget this ride is a water one because the part that always sticks out in my memory is the part where you are climbing up the inevitable drop. It's eerie and I love it. In fact, I pulled my parka out as we were falling because I remembered we were gonna get soaked. It wasn't bad and we didn't get that soaked. They also have a drying off station outside the gift shop. This ride is just fun, even if the reason our "boats get on the wrong path" is not convincing. It's fun! Enjoy the ride. read more
