Marvel Super Hero Island opened in 1999 and is themed after popular Marvel Comics superheroes. Do not leave this area before taking the chance to meet Spider-Man, Captain America, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm and Rogue, as well as Marvel Villains like Doctor Doom and the Green Goblin. If you love comics like I do, getting the chance to take photos with characters is a fun way to take a break from coasters for a bit. You can also enjoy shopping for comics, grab a bite to eat at Cafe 4, and even play some arcade games. If you want to ride coasters, there is the Super-man ride, and the big draw of this section, the Hulk ride. No matter what you end up perferring, this section of Islands of Adventure is a fun time. The food in this area wasn't my favorite but the rides, shopping and photo opportunities were definitely up my alley.

Marvel Island feels like home to any superhero/ Marvel/ comic book fan. It really feels like you're walking through a comic book paradise and it's been executed really well. The various characters in action on all the surrounding buildings, along with the groovy thriller music really helps pull off this entire theme. Marvel Island is the first section of park off to the left when you enter Islands of Adventure. This section of park has a lot of great rides. The Hulk rollercoaster is well known because it's the giant green roller coaster that can be seen from very far away, and it's pretty epic. The way you get launched from the start is a crazy feeling. But, this ride is a little rough so just a heads up. There's also the Doctor Doom ride, which is a mild version of a drop ride, and it's very pleasant and provides a great view of both parks and Orlando at large when you're at the top. Storm's tea cups is hidden right by Hulk and is probably the most kid friendly ride, though when I've gone in the past few months I haven't seen it running at all. Not sure what the deal is. And then there's Spider-man. A virtual ride that's very vivid and a ton of fun, how can you not love this area?! There's a good amount of cool shops and eating options around too. As you're leaving this area you can often see various superhero's out saying hello and taking pictures- it really all makes my inner geek shine out like a beacon!

Another adorable island inside Islands of Adventure. Lots of great photo ops. The spiderman ride and Dr. Doom's Dread Fall are musts!!

Awesome area. Funny seeing Marvel at this Universal, while Disney World has relatively nothing. In California, Disney has the Marvel stuff while Universal has pretty much nothing. I know it's due to whatever contract is in place, but it's still entertaining to see. Maybe Disney would do things different than Universal has on Marvel Superhero Island here - but there's no complaints as Universal has done a nice job. Sandwiched between Toon Lagoon and Seuss Landing, this is a nice area with plenty of shopping opportunities, several rides, eateries, and just an overall fun atmosphere. I mentioned shopping - there's a lot of cool stores and stuff to see. If you're a Marvel fan, you'll appreciate some of the items here. The Hulk coaster is here - if you're wanting to ride it, try to make this a priority as the lines tend to be long. The facades of the various heroes and villains on the buildings/stores are pretty cool. Whether you're a fan or not, most will appreciate it. Kids will have fun here, even though smaller children won't be able to ride the Hulk coaster, Doom's Fearfall, or the Storm Accelerator. Located in Universal's Islands of Adventure. Overall a fun and enjoyable area.

This is the "city" where your favorite Marvel super heroes and villains hang out! The "island" is located in Universal's Islands of Adventure. I love the high energy music playing in the background as you wander the streets exploring the sights. A few of the highlights here are "The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster", "Storm Force Accelerator", "Doctor Doom's Fearfall" and "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man". All four rides involve action and adventure geared towards the thrill seekers amongst us. Throughout the day, you may be lucky enough to spot costumed characters making an appearance along the streets for autographs and photo ops. There are several souvenir shops available where you can pick up some super hero supplies and collectibles. This place is a "must see" for the serious Marvel comic book fan or even if you are not and just looking for adventure! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk2mshRnvaI

The amount of comics and decorations around the area is amazing! The three rides: Hulk, Spider man, and Dr. Doom are so fun and are usually the most packed. I would recommend going to this side first. A lot of the times the super hero's and villains are walking around meeting kids and families and even fight each other :)

The attention to detail throughout the park was impressive and made the whole experience unforgettable. The only downside was that a few rides were closed the day we visited, and the castle light show was unfortunately canceled. Even with that, there was still so much to enjoy. The park had plenty of places to eat, and the freestyle drink machines were conveniently located all around the park, except in the Harry Potter area. We just stopped by for our fifth visit, a testament to how much we enjoy the park. So anyway, we drive up from South Florida, get a hotel, make our way over to the park, and or course we are looking to go on some rides. But to our surprise and frustration, so many were closed for renovation or offline due to mechanical issues. For example: The Jurassic Park River Ride and the Pteranodon Flyers were both out of service due to long term renovation. Even the Mystic Fountain was closed! Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Kong Island and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey were supposed to be working, but all were offline for a number of hours throughout the day. Maybe we just caught them on an off day or something but it really made the trip a little bit annoying, waiting on line and then being told that the ride is now out of service for an unknown amount of time. And instead of having run, we have to constantly check back on the app for ride status updates. Lame. On a good day five stars for sure, but this time around it was a 3 star experience for me.

I had heard from locals that it's a great local option over the big theme parks. Fun Spot was pretty great, for what it was. Free parking, free admission if you don't plan on riding rides, also a discounted adult pass if you only are going on rides with your kid who is too young to ride alone. The whole place was small, maybe the area of a handful of city blocks. And on the Sunday afternoon when we went, the place was quiet enough that we never waited more than a few minutes to get onto a ride. As we were only there for a couple hours, the cashier recommended the 4 ride pass for my kids, and the companion pass for me. But if one were to spend more hours there, buying the day pass online for $59.95 is quite a bargain. Not all rides were open, but the "big" rides that most kids want (the roller coasters and the go carts) were open. My daughter, who is not a big roller coaster fan, had a harder time finding kiddie rides that she actually wanted to go on, and she watched the go carts and didn't even want to try those with me driving. However, the place was small enough that I felt fine leaving my 10 year old son to go on rides by himself while I went on the Ferris wheel or the merry go round with my 8 year old. There are a bunch of food options available throughout the park. They were definitely more affordable than Disney prices! Most of the places offered souvenir cups with discounted refills, but there were also water stations set up throughout with free cups. I'd definitely come back if I had a few hours to burn and the kids didn't want to go swimming. Hopefully at some point, my daughter will change her mind about roller coasters, though!

All three of these together took up about two hours and then we were able to go to Cafe tu tu tango to get a bite to eat. This was a great half day experience while we were visiting Orlando. There was a parking garage and parking was super easy. By that time we left around 8:30 PM there were so many cars, but when we first got there at about 5 PM there were tons of spots. They do have parking spots you can pay for in the lower levels so it seems like if you're willing to pay there will always be parking. If you want free parking, you need to go earlier because this seems to be popular for nightlife. I always appreciate when there's so many attractions together that you can walk to. This place has quite a few restaurants, some shops and the attractions all in a contained area. It was very clean and when we came, there was a huge police presence, because apparently a couple weeks before there was hundreds of teenagers that descended to the area and fought. So the place was doing a really good job making sure that everything was safe. This is a place for both families and non-families alike.

Its sole ride, Escape from Gringotts I gave two stars as I found it very lackluster compared to the two Potter themed thrill rides over at Islands of Adventure. But the theming in this section of the park is absolutely phenomenal and highly immersive enough to make this an easy 4 stars. The Knight Bus was fun enough for both my sister and I to get pictures by it with its friendly steward and his appropriate accent. I missed the low key entrance on our first go round. As I said I watched the movies in a cloud of smoke and didn't realize it was this secret fandom entrance/exit but the throngs passing through tipped us off. The greater density with everything packed so tightly together and its separation from the other themed areas of Universal Studios Florida makes this Potter themed area more impressive than its counterpart over at Islands of Adventure- even without a magnificent castle. The alleys, the shops, the hand painted signage, the dragon perched high shooting out that massive flame... I can only imagine how hard this hits if you're a Potter fanatic. And though Escape from Gringotts was pretty weak sauce in my estimation the queue and the theming before the ride experience was top notch. They really broke the bank on this, as with the great train ride in. Maybe if I ever go back I'll watch a Potter movie or two sober.

I walked through the warp pipe entrance and into the land, and that was a genuine moment. The colors, sounds, and scale of everything around me hit immediately in a way that was hard to prepare for even though I knew what to expect. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the music threading through the entire area kept the immersion intact as I moved from one section to the next. Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness is the ride to prioritize and the one that generates the most excitement in the land. I arrived at park open and went straight here, which was the right strategy as the wait times built quickly. Mario Kart is the other major attraction and delivers on the concept, with the Power Up Band integration adding a competitive layer that makes it more than just a passive ride experience. The Power Up Band is worth purchasing before entering the park if I want the full experience. It unlocks interactive elements and mini games scattered throughout the land that let me collect coins, hit question blocks, and track my score on the app. Without it I could still enjoy the rides and the theming, but a meaningful portion of what makes the land special is tied to having one. At around fifty dollars it is an added cost on top of an already expensive day, but for a Nintendo fan it justifies itself quickly. Weekday visits made a noticeable difference in wait times and gave me more room to engage with the interactive elements without feeling rushed. The land rewards people who slow down and explore rather than just moving through it as efficiently as possible, and there is enough packed into the space that I could spend a solid chunk of the day here without feeling like I had exhausted it.
