Destination Big Bear staff made our family get away a dream one. From the minute we booked, we received on going communication via email and text. Upon arriving to Big Beat mountain, Check in procedure was seamless. Easy, fast, safe and the staff was professional and warm. We were given detailed information regarding stay and check-out protocol. The rental property was impeccable, photos matched the house with exact precision. It was cleaned, well maintained , gorgeous. I had a few details to go over and a very helpful and gracious staff member, Austin Dakota offered clarification immediately. Thank you Destination BB, we shall book directly with you on our next visit to the mountain. Sincerely, T. Family~ read more

Home was very nice. We loved it. The kids enjoyed the pool table (but could use some leveling because the balls would roll to one corner) the jacuzzi was perfect for the weather out there. Only issue we had the first night was that the heater was not working so we woke up to a freezing house, but thankfully David came to fit the problem. Overall we definitely recommend. read more

Huge thank you to Brent & Travis for helping get my car towed back to San Diego. I had parked in front of one of their rentals and because of the storm, my car was iced in. After a few days of no progress, Brent shoveled the ice on and around my car so my car wouldn't be damaged when the tow truck came. Meanwhile Travis helped calm me down because the whole situation was a nightmare. Very grateful for these two and will be booking through destination big bear for future trips to the mountain. I won't loose my keys this time! read more

The Big Bear area is excellent. The cabin owners didn't prepare the house for guests - advertised amenities were not available... (hot tub, BBQ) We rented a house during Thanksgiving and got these issues (not fixed): - hot tub is broken - The BBQ area was filthy. It seems the 'cleaning fee' didn't work at all - The walkway was icy and dangerous, especially for kids and older people we had with us. Keep in mind you may not get what is written on the house description. In the service business, this is not simple 'no hot tub, get a hundred bucks. If it's one of the key criteria you select for the house to rent is missed, your expectations are ruined. And it's more that just some cash back. read more

Super frustrated! I would be a return customer but the customer service seems to have declined since our last stay. Nobody returns calls and the chat function is horrible. See below for my experience. Please note that there were huge delays in the chat agents responses...it was like dragging a horse to water! Me: Hello, I am interested in booking a cabin. I left a message 2 days ago but never got a call back. I am a return customer. Brittany/Chat Agent Hello, thank you for visiting us ! Please chat with us to book a cabin. We can help you to find the best one. Me: We are thinking about coming up on 7/21 - 7/24 or 7/25. It will be 9 of us. 4 couples +1 single. I would love for everyone to have a bedroom to themselves but 4 bedrooms would do fine if there is a loft or pull out couch...game tables are also important. we would like somewhere near the lake if possible. Hello? Brittany/Chat Agent: ok can you help you me with the cabin name Me: That is what I was hoping you could help me with...hoping you can help me find some good options. We stayed in a DBB property before...I can't remember the property name though.Should I just call instead of the chat? Brittany/Chat Agent: Our office can be reached via phone at (909) 752-0234.surely you can reach us . Me: we called 2 days ago and left a message. I called trying to find the best place for my family vacation, with questions about distance to the slopes, the ski resorts and a lot of other factors and Simon was outstanding in listening and helping me out. He researched and sent me a ton options for my group and sent me a text with the property available, offered some advice and even placed a property on hold so I could confirm with my group. Fantastic service. Brent did a great job helping us figure all the electrical gadgets in the house.

Best experience I ever had in booking a vacation rental. This was my first time ever. Nikolas was very helpful. I was sooo upset at another company. Nikolas assured me that he will help me the best he could. He gave me their website to browse around. I found a vacation rental and booked it. I called today to confirm everything and asked a few questions. He made my experience very pleasant. I will definitely return to Big Bear using destination big bear again. UPDATE: After writing this review I was contacted by Destination Big Bear. They apologized profusely the behavior of their staff, and offered to make more of an effort to financially compensate us for the inconvenience. I have updated my review to reflect my most recent customer service experience with them and respect that they reached out to make things right. As a repeat customer - it stings to write a bad review - but here we are. When I was browsing their website, a chat window appeared asking if I needed help looking for a vacation rental. I told the agent we needed a home for 8 people and it was VERY important that we have a hot tub, as we have some non-skiers, and that was their main draw. They set me up with a house - Pattersons Lakefront Retreat. Everyone was very excited for the trip, but things started to go awry right when we arrived. The office held the keys, and required that we stop by to get them. The front desk girl was so chatty about her boyfriend who is originally from Oklahoma, that she flat out forgot to give us the keys we came to get, and instead told us we'd get a text message with all the checkin, instructions. We got to the house and began looking for a lockbox when the girl called back saying she forgot to give us the keys - which - aside from giving us an iPad to check some things off and taking a photograph of you, is the ONE reason they require you to come to the office - how do you forget that? So we finally get into the house, and because the large hot tub was a HUGE selling point for us, we opened the cover. Everyone backed away gagging at the putrid smell. The water was opaque and brownish green (pic included). We called Destination Big Bear immediately, and they told us that they really aren't responsible to maintain the hot tubs - that owners do that. They connected us with their maintenance line, who said they'd be sending a pool servicer, when we inquired when that person would be arriving, the caller hung up. Frustrated, and without answers as to when this would be fixed, we went to the office. I asked to be moved houses if they couldn't fix the hot tub. They instead offered me TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS, and said they don't guarantee any amenities on any of their properties - only the house itself. SO BEWARE - if you rent a house with a pool table, fooseball, shuffle board, hot tub, sauna, pool, etc - THEY DO NOT GUARANTEE THESE THINGS TO BE OPERATIONAL DURING YOUR STAY - and will insult you by offering $25. I parked myself at one of their desks and called Cool Cabins. While on the phone the folks as DBB managed to get a pool company out to service the pool. The spa company also gagged when opening it and said it was "disgusting". Needless to say - it was not operational our first night. Also - the roof of the house leaked after a very minor snow storm. Given all the cleaning Destination Big Bear makes you do, and all the fines they warn you about for so much as moving an arm chair - the absolute LEAST they could do is clean the freaking hot tubs once in a while and guarantee them to be operational if they plan to ADVERTISE them. The 2 star review means "Meh. I've experienced better" and the truth is I have - with this same company - 2 years ago. Bottom line - their front desk staff is rude, and their policies are probably not legal (advertising amenities and not guaranteeing them, but charging for them). I'm beyond disappointed in their lack of empathy, zero apology, and hundreds of excuses. I operate two rental properties myself - and I would never ever ever treat guests like they do. They've forgotten the "hospitality" part of their business sometime between 2018 and 2020. And to the owners of Pattersons Lakefront Retreat - it's time you find a new management company who will treat your guests like they deserve. read more

I am beyond impressed with our stay but most importantly our service while we stayed. The house in itself was amazing but this review is specific for how Travis helped our family. When we got into a little hurdle in the beginning of the stay, he was so supportive and even gave us resources to overcome it. Whatever it was, it would have majorly impacted our stay and our trip and I'm so thankful for his support! Travis, you are the reason we will come back to Big Bear !!! read more

Brent was supremely helpful at our stay at grand Swiss! Super accommodating and responsive thank you!

Joe F came to fix a ceiling fan at the rental. He was there super fast and fixed it quickly. Big thanks!

This is hands down the best location in town for your event or banquet! Travis was amazing. Thank you for everything!

Our rental was just as the posting and more. We had an amazing stay, and had we not brought our boat out on the lake, would have just stayed and enjoyed the rental. We actually delayed our boat to stay and enjoy the property and play the games with our daughter. We absolutely loved the place and will be booking this place again! Our stay was absolutely incredible and I definitely recommend this property! We were a group of five adults, a toddler and a dog on a family trip for the Christmas to new years holidays. The cabin was beyond what we even expected - spacious, large, super clean, gorgeous, fully stocked with everything we needed, and the best location! Walking distance to the village and super close to the alpine slide. And we had everything we needed - from tons of movies to kitchenware to a well functioning washer and dryer (much needed with a toddler) to a dishwasher (much needed with a family) to amazing tvs in every room. It was a magical experience that everyone enjoyed and we look forward to visiting again! read more

My family and I had a great time staying at the house on Monterey St! It was very nice and even had a backyard for sledding and building a snowman. Also conveniently located close to the Big Bear Mountain Resort for skiing (5 minute drive). We were originally at the Silver Tip cabin, but the electricity was all messed up. On arrival a lot of the outlets did not work and turning on one space heater broke a circuit and all the lights shut off. There is a space heater in every room of the house and no other method of heating so without the electricity we were going to freeze to death. After calling, a nice man named Freddie came and reset the circuit (Thanks Freddie) but turning on one space heater caused the same problem to happen again so we were moved. Thanks again to Destination Big Bear for moving us to the Monterey house where the electricty worked perfectly. Just want everyone to know The Silver Tip house is still very good (theres a hot tub) and hopefully they fix the electical problem. We had so much will be returning to Big Bear soon. read more

Rented a cabin from them and we were very pleased with what we got. I hadn't been to big bear in over 15yrs so I had a lot of questions and they were very helpful and patient with me on the phone. We rented the bear vista retreat but about 2 weeks before I had to move the reservation. When I looked I saw that the prices doubled for basically every weekend after the one I had chose. But instead of charging me double, I spoke to a very nice manager who gave me a great discount and let me push our reservation 1 week. When we got there the cabin was just as advertised. Check in was easy and most importantly the hot tub was warm and ready to go. It had a bit of a smokey smell inside but I think that's somewhat unavoidable when the fireplace is being ran constantly. I would certainly come back and rent this cabin again. read more

Renter Beware! We rented Grand Swiss house in Big Bear through Destination Big Bear (DBB) and were we disappointed! At $3,800 a night, all in, you'd at least expect to have the entry way shoveled and the oven working! The most disappointing is the way DBB and the owner handled the compensation for a 13 point punch list of problems. Besides previously mentioned, nails in the fireplace, leaking ice maker, no coffee, no napkins, on and on. After our stay we asked for some compensation and even though they did respond with something, they didn't feel all these problems were significant. You'd think customer service would be important with all the competition from direct home owners, AirBnB and VRBO. My suggestion is stay away from DBB and Grand Swiss, find a house with reputable owners and use a company that stands behind what they offer. read more

This cabin is a dream! My family of 6 was so comfortable here. Beautiful lake view, snow to play in, hottub outside the back door. When we couldn't find the lighter for the fireplace, they ran one right over. When I misplaced the keys inside the house, Travis was there in 15 mins to save the day with another set. Well equipped kitchen to cook meals and a large capacity washer and dryer. We will def be back!! read more

Try to find a property that this company doesn't manage. I know it's hard to do, but their customer service is horrible. Check in is so inconvenient and when we needed help the refused to send someone out. They just make you come to their office several times. Most other rentals make everything quick easy and convenient. This is not that company and our cabin's cleanliness was subpar. Rent from someone else. read more

I went there at 4pm today to check in for our cabin rental. There were 3 girls behind desks, one had a mask on and the other 2 had no mask. Keep in mind this is literally at the peak of the omicron outbreak. As I was talking to the maskless woman behind the desk I heard a man on the other side of a low wall speaking to a customer on the phone. The place is like a large warehouse the walls are basically space separators. As he was speaking he started hacking and coughing non stop - like every 10 seconds nonstop. At this point I felt super uncomfortable and really just wanted to leave. The woman gave me back my ID, she said she would text me the info on when the rental would be ready and I left. Granted it was after 4pm already, check in time is 4pm and our cabin was still being cleaned. Having unmasked employees dealing directly w customers indoors, in the middle of a massive Omicron outbreak is just insane to me - then add the other employee hacking up a lung a few feet away and it was now downright terrifying. Please be more sensitive to your customers health and safety, or come up w a check in system that doesn't require people to walk into a super spreader location of unmasked staff. Also on a side note, the cabin we rented was listed as a "Luxury" rental. This place is rustic and fine for a low key cabin rental but it's 100% not a luxury home or cabin. We've used this agency before and always had a positive experience, the last house we rented was listed as luxury and it was. The major problem here is the massive Covid safety compliance issues noted above though. It is my understanding there is a mandatory indoor mask mandate currently for all businesses in Big Bear. It's so unfair and disrespectful to put customers in a compromised position like this no matter how you slice it. I don't want anyone hacking up a lung next to me at all, especially maskless during a pandemic. I would expect much more courtesy and thoughtfulness, especially from a consumer facing hospitality business. If you want to go maskless in your workplace during a pandemic, while under an indoor mask mandate, then don't force me to come inside with you as part of my check in process. At least find a contactless way to deliver your rentals to customers please. read more

Yikes! This company decided to raise the price of a cabin mid-booking. They sent me a confirmation quote and when I went to book the cabin, the price had gone up a lot. When I made the company aware or THEIR error, they did not lower the price to what the emailed quote stated. The prices of their cabin rentals are very high. Also, the cabins we did stay in had electrical issues and spider webs inside the cabin. I would be very careful if deciding to book with this company. Incorrect charges on your credit cards or someone getting hurt in their cabins would be my concerns. read more

Spent this weekend in Big Bear & had an awesome time! Needed a quick getaway as I have not had one since before Covid. I booked this place through Airbnb but they also have their own website you can book directly from. Airbnb offered one free single kayaking or other activities so I booked through them. However, DBB offers deals as well. Overall, we were happy with our lodge. It was more a townhouse community than cabin but it was nice & tucked away in the hills. The place we stayed at, Snow Summit Ridge was really cute. I wish I had taken photos as I forgot but it was real cute & cozy. Furniture looked relatively new. It had an upstairs & downstairs & patios. Its big enough for a family or a group of friends. It was just me and my man but it was nice having the space to ourselves. The only issue we had was some minor appliance issues but we informed them & they were really friendly & accommodating. Most condos don't have AC. Ours did not. It was pretty warm upstairs but they have fans all over the place & if you open the windows a nice breeze comes through. I was a little disappointed when I found not every townhouse has a jacuzzi. Only certain condos do. They do have a community pool. Also, its in the heart of the city, so there's lots of shops, grocery stores nearby, a Starbucks down the road. Check out Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain. So much fun! Really nice weather overall and great views & trails! **One more thing: they make you take out your own trash. They have a pretty strict guideline of things you have to do. Seems pre AND post Covid but the trash rule is city enforced & not DBB. There's two trash sites that are nearby and easy drop off. read more

We had the best time at the Honeymoon Hideaway property. It was the perfect size for my husband, toddler, and myself. It was so cute and cozy (with a warm fireplace), but with enough room in and outside the house for our little one to run around and play. We would definitely stay here again - it's so much better than staying at a hotel. We will also book through Destination Big Bear again. Everyone we talked to was so helpful and friendly, as we had a few questions during the booking process. Tristan in particular was extremely accommodating and helpful. The process was super easy and our expectations were exceeded. read more
