Received AWESOME customer service from Austin when I booked a reservation at Destination Big Bear! He was super-friendly, Professional, extremely informative and provided additional tips about staying in Big Bear. I was hesitant to make the reservation but Austin was very reassuring about the services offered through Destination Big Bear. Our family is super-excited about our upcoming vacay! So far we've stayed at 2 of the Destination Big Bear Properties and they have been Amazing! Our stay has been just as home during July, we've been able to cook, relax and clean up the house as if it were our own. It's very comfortable it's so convenient to have a washer/dryer not just to do our laundry, but to wash the linens and towels. I love the fact that the Employees are so helpful to resolve any problems that we may have right away. That extending our stay in our current situation they have been so understanding. Destination big bear more like destination big NIGHTMARE. On our second night of stay I had reported to office of plumbing issue with toilets not flushing and bath tub drain backing up with discolored brown and cloudy unsafe contaminated water filling all 3 bath tubs (photos were taken). Explained to evening manager Nick that non of our family had used any inappropriate item during flushing of toilets or bath tubs. All bathrooms in rental home were unsafe and not operating. Nick stated he would contact after maintenance to help resolve problem . Nick did not provide maintenance to access and fix plumbing instead gave us two inconvenient options. He told us we could stay in the home which again had no proper plumbing in all bathroom which meant we would have no safe access to bathroom usage. Second move to replacement rental home , which meant packing all our items back into our car from day and waking up my family in the middle of the cold night at nearly 11pm . Mind you I had my mother who almost a senior citizen and my sister in law who is pregnant expecting. How fair are both options ? Nick stated we did not have to worry about cleaning and trash removal I have text to verify . We experienced so much stress from having to move in short noticed in the middle of the night. Nick also promised that replacement rental was clean and ready for us to settle in. We arrived to replacement rental home and noticed in master bathroom the mat was completely saturated and water pooling on the floor (photos were taken). Again we had not even use the shower which seemed to be source of leak. I called again to report leak and was extremely exhausted of how much of a nightmare our family had to endure. We should at least be refunded a night of stay with all the stress our family had to go through and the poor communication and lack of service that we reported during our stay. I would have never stayed or book with destination big bear if I knew this is how matters were handle. I'm still waiting for resolution department to call and they have not even reach out yet. read more

Terrible business do not rent anything from this place. Fined me 500$ for ridiculous reasons, stated I would have max occupancy at 10 and I did. They fined me for ONE extra car in my driveway. These people arent even staying in the cabin. Security car who issued me the ticket said they have cameras everywhere, so do not trust these rentals. Absolutely ridiculous never rent from these people ever. I stayed at 374 northern crossdrive. Where are these cameras? Legally these need to be stated where they are. read more

From the moment we checked-in, we had problems. No working washer (which was a promised amenity) and upon arrival, no working fridge. We contacted this company immediately and they really did nothing to help. Had to move our food outside to keep it from spoiling as the temp outside was cooler than the fridge. Ended up throwing lots of food away because it spoiled. We should have been offered another cabin, but instead we were offered a fridge to put somewhere in the house (not to replace the other fridge) or a cooler with ice. If I wanted to live out of a cooler I would have gone camping. We checked out this morning and STILL have not heard from anyone. This company is a joke and they don't even respond after numerous text messages have been sent. Rent from a different company! read more

We just checked into our cabin hosted by Destination Big Bear and have had a very frustrating experience. We received a text message saying that we could check in early, so we headed to their office. The office staff was very nice and confirmed that our cabin was ready for check in. They gave us the go ahead and codes around 12:45pm. We arrived to our cabin around 1:45pm. Upon arrival, we noticed there was a maintenance worker fixing the screen (not a big deal, we're grateful they take pride in their cabins and want guests to have the best accommodations possible). The maintenance worker was blocking the driveway, front door, and side gate. We asked him to move his car, but he said no and that he would be done very soon. We unloaded our twin babies and our lunch so we could eat while we waited for him to finish up. Please note that we had to squeeze between his car and a bush to get to the front door. After we finished eating (about 30-45 minutes later), he was still nowhere near done. We asked politely if he would move his car so we could unload and he was extremely rude. He yelled at us and told us we were early. We explained that the company told us it was ready and that we could go in. He continued to be very rude and even ignored us. We called his supervisor who also didn't seem to care that he was so rude, blocking the drive way, and not representing their company well. None of them would tell us their names. We paid good money to stay at the cabin and expect good customer service. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service we have received and the lack of care of o be considerate to paying customers. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Side note: the cabin is super nice and very clean!! They definitely got that part right. Service on the other hand is crappy at best read more

Renter Beware. This review is way overdue and I have given this company MORE than enough time and patience to fix the issue but alas...here I am. I'll start by saying this review is due to the last straw in trying to get my security deposit, that they texted me on May 2nd about, stating I would have my full deposit back in 3 days. Here I am, June 4th, and no security deposit despite NUMEROUS calls, run-around and sheer BS from their office. A dispute has been filed with my credit card company and I'm discussing other avenues to get my security deposit back. Last year in July we rented from them for a week long getaway. The cabin was not cleaned very well as there were cobwebs everywhere and an odd smell but we weren't in the cabin that much and I chalked it up to being in the mountains. There was a spa at the property but we never used it. WORD TO THE WISE, even if your not going to use the spa, check it. Upon leaving I received a message that part of my Deposit was being kept because the spa was so filthy that it had to be completely drained and cleaned and refilled. Hmmmm, so I called them back and asked how that was possible since we never used the spa. Then asked what incredible service they used that could pump the water out, clean, and fill the spa completely and treat the water all within 10 minutes. You see, we left right as their spa guy arrived then turned around and came back to check something at the cabin before leaving town. When we got back to cabin the spa guy was leaving (10 minutes) and the spa was as we left it. Mentioned that either they were getting ripped off with their service people or they were ripping me off with a BS charge. It got reversed and I got my Deposit within 9 days. Despite that, gave them a second shot this past April. House was better and cleaner. I did check the spa and it was cloudy so I asked about the cleanliness of it. Was told to run the jets that the chemicals were probably not circulated enough. It never got clear so we didn't use. And I informed them it was not clean. Paid security deposit on March 8th, stayed from April 7-9. After 21 days per their contract did not receive security deposit so called. Was told I would be getting deposit back in full, received text confirmation but after 3-5 days, NO Deposit. California law is the security deposits are to be returned within 21 days. Probably why they put 21 days in their contracts. Called following week said they would reprocess. Still no Deposit. After numerous calls, and given the run around and told someone would call me back (Yup, you guessed it. This NEVER happened) someone said that there was an issue getting the transfer to go back. So, they had no problem taking my money but can't seem to send it back to the same place they got it. Hmmm. Then I was told there would be a paper check mailed to me. And here I am, 2 weeks past that and (YOU guessed it) NO CHECK. They keep diverting to an "Accounting Department" that I don't think really exists and a company owner that doesn't give 2 **** about guests or clients. I have advised all my business associates, family and friends to avoid this company and go with one of the others in BB as this business is shady and could care less about customer service. I have at this point been waiting 56 days since my stay to receive my Security Deposit that they said I would be getting back. read more

I stopped by "Destination Big Bear" with some questions, not to actually make a reservation. I was helped by "Austin." Austin was very courteous and eager to help. Austin was very knowledgeable, regarding the properties available. Due to Austin's great customer service, I booked my stay at the "Grand Mountain Retreat." It has been years, since I have brought my kids to the snow, due to a rigorous work schedule. Well, I retire in November and it is time for a little family snow trip. Thanks Austin... you were great. Horrible. Just horrible. They are built to deceive from the polices on their website regarding if you find "dead animals" in their rentals to capping refunds for malfunctioning hot tubs at $100 per stay (must be a common occurrence if they bother to create a policy for these issues) to the entry level employees that give you the run around if you do try and resolve an issue. Believe the 1 star reviews here not the 5 stars. This is how bad my dealing with the company has been. I've never filed a Better Business Bureau compliant until now. we rented the Grizzly Bear Lodge from February 26 to February 27. We reached out to DBB, as they stipulated in their policy "as soon are we arrived at the house" to have issues addressed but the issues just kept piling up. Light bulbs out, dust and cobwebs everywhere, The hot tub was filthy and not heating up nor could it be set or shut off as the control panel was damaged. The oven, when set to preheat, with no food or anything in it yet, set off the fire alarm. Another fire alarm beeped incessantly, a low battery warning, like some kind of psychological torture device for the entire two days. We texted, we called and though a technician did come out it was just the hot tub and he merely dropped in chemicals which did nothing for the damaged controls and also told us we couldn't use the hot tubs for the next 8 hours because of the chemicals. We were so disappointed that we called and called for weeks afterwards to discuss some type of refund to counter the awful experience we had but that was even worse than the problems at the house. We made multiple calls and emails and spoke or corresponded with multiple entry level employees each one promising that the owner was the only person able to discuss refunds and that they would call us back. We waited weeks. Finally we emailed DBB a long final email detailing everything that went wrong in the house and the multiple attempts to speak to someone. That email was also replied with a promise to have someone contact us to no avail. Finally we disputed the charge with our credit card company and then finally DBB responded to the credit card company that they had issued us a refund. The sheer gall of DBB trying to pass off our refundable security deposit, which was due back to us regardless, as a partial refund in order to try and win the dispute with the credit card company is what finally brought me here. Whatever you do go elsewhere. Maybe everything works out and you rent a cabin with no issues. But if anything goes wrong you are on your own. DBB is in the business of minimizing it's risk of having to issue refunds. Their entire apparatus seems geared to stiff you if you do encounter problems. "Buyer beware" with Destination Big Bear. read more

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever worked with. I got an Air BnB and had to deal with this place. Highly recommend avoiding any Air BnBs that this place manages, or doing any business with this place. They can care less about their customers and was even told this by the company. They are only getting 1 star because I cannot give a negative value. Please see my google review as this was what we walked into. By far the worse experience My family and I have had. Rented a place from them on Air BnB. The cabin was poorly kept. One one of the rooms the bedding was soaked in urine and made the room smell like that all weekend. This was what my 10 year old walked into. One of the showers were no operational. When calling this place to check in they informed me that it would be ready and we waited over 3 hrs outside the home as they said it was being cleaned, yet the bedding was soaked in urine. In addition, the carpets were torn up and dirty. Overall, the experience was terrible and highly recommend finding a different company if I were you. I have pictures, but it will not let me add them as I would love to share photos of this terrible experience. read more

Extremely surprised to see some negative comments on Yelp for Destination Big Bear. I have been renting homes from this company for well over 10 years. Several times throughout the year (several different homes). Having used other rental companies in other cities, as well as vrbo & air bnb's, I have dealt with many people who misrepresent the homes they are renting. I can honestly say that is not the case with Destination Big Bear. Destination Big Bear photos & descriptions have always been accurate to what we are getting. After 10 years, reality is that things may come up from time to time (it's life, it happens) but rest assured that Destination Big Bear ALWAYS makes things right! This is a company that values their customers. My main point of contact has been Tristan for the past several years and while he is ALWAYS my go to (he is the best!), every representative that I have come across has always been extremely attentive, helpful, diligent and goes out of their way to make sure we are satisfied with our stay. This past Thanksgiving weekend (obviously a very busy weekend), I had the pleasure of talking to ***JANAE*** she not only assisted with our needs, she went above & beyond for us. Reaching out after the fact to make sure our stay was nothing short of amazing. Sadly in todays day in age, you don't always get a full TEAM who are all on the same page. Kudos to Destination Big Bear for having a complete team who truly cares!!! ***Destination Big Bear is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*** Job well done guys!!! Whenever in Big Bear, this is the only company I will rent from. read more

We had a perfect stay at the Lakeview Paradise property. The cabin was spacious, clean, and very cozy. Perfect for anyone with pets. We had a beautiful stay here. Our friends booked the cabin and we split half so I'm not sure what website they found the cabin on. It was definitely a great stay here. We were sent an address to check in and get info on keys. We checked in and the guy there was very nice and let us know to do a full walk thru and make sure everything is in tact. Once arriving at the cabin it was more beautiful in person. Snow everywhere. Walking in the place is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Very clean and felt new. There are a lot of rules on the fridge to follow regarding when we leave, but easy rules to follow. We had a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with a jacuzzi. Very spacious and came with lots of games to play. If there were any issues they were very fast at responding. Our stove wasn't lighting and they sent someone out pretty fast. Then we noticed our propane tank was out so they sent a new over. Definitely recommend! read more

We rented a cabin and want to thank Nick F. for quickly coming over and fixing our barbecue problem. Great work Nick, thank you!

Just spent a weekend at the Swanson Family Cabin and our whole party can't top raving about how pleased we were with the cabin. The place is immaculately clean and spacious. We were a party of 6 adults and 2 infants and not once did we feel cluttered. Everything we needed to prep our meals was already there. The deck was perfect for both breakfast and dinner. The game room and and the hammocks were perfect ways to unwind or relax. We drove down to the lake each day and we were literally 6 mins away from the swimming site we had researched. After searching online with Google and AirBnB for weeks and getting frustrated we turned my last place which was to turn to Yelp. I'm glad I did because that's how we found Destination Big Bear and got into touch with Jenae. So this review is for her the 5 * stars is not enough We give her 10*+ stars. Jenae provided us the Best Customer Care Service we could have asked for. She made it very easy to help us find and to book a Cabin within our budget and for our group size. The booking process was easy to pay as well not having to give my credit card over the phone they take Paypal even if you don't have an account which I was happy for and you get a receipt of payment right after by email. I will and have recommend Destination Big Bear and forsure to talk and work with Jenea. We will call upon her again to book another cabin soon. Thank you again Jenae!!!!!! read more

I don't remember which one we stayed at, but it's "high in the hills of upper Moonridge." After you start your adventure by surviving the uphill climb of the vertical driveway and get out of your vehicle without falling over the edge, you'll be greeted by a heart-warming cabin fit for Huck Finn. Right by the front door is a hot tub. Now, I know what you're thinking (because I thought so myself): why is the hot tub situated at the front of the cabin rather than in the backyard?! Ridiculous, right? Boy, were me and my friends wrong. My initial rating of the hot tub placement was a solid 2/10. However, after slipping into the hot tub with mah boys at night, we realized why it's placed at the front: the view. We were going to take a quick, judgmental 10-minute dip and bounce back in the cabin to complain, but we stayed in the tub for three hours, entranced by the life-changing view of the powdered mountains and the beaming full moon. At times, it became so steamy we thought we were transported into another dimension where the world was covered in hot tubs. We never knew a hot tub could be so masterfully placed, but miracles happen because people dare to dream. I don't really remember much about anything else. I think we were there for someone's birthday or something, I can't quite recall. It was a cabin...a cabin with a hot tub that changed my life. P.S. I'm pretty sure the downstairs room with the bunk beds is haunted, since my friend who slept there was floating in the middle of the night, which is why I took away a star. Sadly, he did not get into the hot tub. P.S. Part II: They also have a phenomenal antler chandelier that my friends and I partook in analyzing for a solid 2 hours. This particular detail would've bumped this review up to a 5-star rating if I didn't get stuck in the bathroom for 47 minutes trying to open the door. read more

My family and I recently went up to Big Bear to ski and snowboard. We rented from DBB through ABB. When we arrived to our rental the internet and TV were not working. I've got to say, as a new homeowner in Big Bear - we have desires of offering our home as a vacation rental while we aren't able to use it - the home we're purchasing has been a succesful short term rental through another local management company for several years - and we thought that we should just continue to use the existing company as it would be the easiest way to step into this type of ownership. I'm so grateful we decided to compare other companies in the area- this gave us the opportunity to meet the team at Destination Big Bear! We first were so impressed by their online presence and great reviews- the current management company had some online presence, but I wouldn't say it placed them in the brightest light- We walked into both management offices the current company as well as Destination Big Bear- and the moment we walked into the existing management companies office the first they said was that it wasn't 4:00 and check-in isn't available yet - they didn't even say hello. The moment we walked into Destination Big Bear we were greeted with the warmest most sincere welcomed hello - and everyone we've spoken with so far, including the owner and his incredible team - they are TERRIFFIC at taking someone new like us and through their management - feeling so confident that not only will we as homeowners be taken care of - but the guests we look forward to spoiling - we know we are in GREAT CARE with Destination Big Bear and you're going to have a great time working with them and staying at anyone of their professionally managed properties - Thank you for being so passionate about excellent experiences!!!! read more
