I love clams and seafood. This restaurant is in walking distance to my apartment and I was curious if the food was good or not. Overall, I like the food and drink. Sangria is on the lighter side, baked clams is good, Scungilli is my dish and I like it. I didn't see much of Italian place that has this dish on the menu even it suppose to be a regular dish in Italian restaurant. It was easy Sunday and I walked in with out reservations.

Walked in and were immediately and amicably seated. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and had a family vibe. The sauce was delicious ! Had a real warmth and depth to it. Tasted homey. The food came in good portions and was very good. Will definitely be coming again !

I had a great dinner at Desy's. I started off with the Baked Clams, and loved them with the Spicy homemade red sauce. I then had a garlic linguine with Shrimp and Broccoli. Great service at the bar, and the Christmas decorations looked great.

There is no better place in the area to get good quality and variety of shrimp. Desy's is the place to be hands-down! I've come here multiple times over the last 5 years with coworkers for lunch, birthday's, etc., and this last visit was no different. Inside, the vibe is pretty standard, and doesn't stand out enough to be unique, but it just has a basic Italian restaurant vibe. The staff, although seemingly small, are always nice. You may have to ask for water for the table or more napkins, but this place is known more for the food than the service. Staples - fried shrimp with penne pasta with oil and garlic; sautee shrimp You MUST ask to try all three of their spice levels of red sauce to dip in their bread while you wait. I truthfully love their mild sauce, but their medium spice sauce has just the right kick to bring some excitement to your taste buds! Their menu is vast and the portions are always generous and presented well. I've met some friends and family here to eat, and we've always enjoyed ourselves. Come hungry, and come thinking of shrimp!

Soon as walk in the waiter greeted me like we was family so nice big smile help me threw the menu very helpful . The fried cheese was amazing the three side sauces are sweet medium and hot all three are great but the spicy is the way to go!! Shrimp and spaghetti is the champion here hands down make sure and tell them spicy if that's your thing calamari and pasta was also very good chicken farms what you expect at a wonder place like this can't go wrong the kids will love it can't wait to come back

Another great meal from Desy's. Clams , mussels, oysters, antipasto hero, linguini with clam sauce, shrimp scampi & seafood salad. Everything was done to perfection. Delivery was very fast. . Love their food !!

    Mussels

Listen, I'm a regular patron at Desy's Clam Bar. The food reminds me of home (New Jersey), the decor is comfortable, and the service typically is excellent. However, my most recent experience left me shaking in my boots with anger. It started as one might expect at a restaurant like Desy's -- mussels diablo and a glass of red wine for myself and my dining partner. Our server realized the house red they typically had by the glass (a Cabernet) was out of stock and offered us a different type of wine instead which we accepted. The wine arrived quickly and we were more than happy with the taste and quality. When we sat down we asked for two glasses of water that never arrived, perhaps that should have been a sign we'd be taken for a ride. After the mussels came the penne with sausage and broccoli rabe, another superb dish that left me with nothing but kind things to say. We ordered one more glass of wine for the table and split it between the two. A few sips in our server came back and asked if we'd be interested in purchasing the bottle as she had opened it for us and there was "only a glass left", she let us know it would be $10 more than what we had already ordered. I asked how much the wine was per glass and our server said "$10 each". Again, with our faith in a woman who had already served us a delicious meal, we accepted. We enjoyed another glass each from the bottle, but before we had even made it half way through our server arrived again looking antsy. She said that the owner pulled her aside to let her know that the bottle of wine of wine she had opened was more expensive than she thought. It was actually one of the most expensive bottles they had in the restaurant. She said the owner wouldn't charge us full price, but that we'd be expected to pay $90 despite accepting total responsibility for the mix up. We empathized but said we were uncomfortable paying more than double the price we she'd said initially. Our server went to the back of the restaurant to discuss it with the owner and returned letting us know that the bottle was $150 but because the owner was willing to charge us $90 we were getting a good deal -- when we objected she let us know we'd have to pay at least $60 and that the rest would come out of her pocket. We asked why we'd be charged $60 when she had said $40 originally ($10 for 3 glasses each plus $10 for the bottle) she said what she meant by $10 more was an additional $10 per glass. What a switch up! We told her we felt bad, but again, that we weren't willing to pay for the restaurant's mistake. She offered to charge us $50 again and we agreed before she flipped the script and said "okay so $60?" I reminded her she just said $50. Our server proceeded to roll her eyes and try to make us feel guilty by explaining she'd have to pay for her mistake. We paid $50 but left a 24.48% tip due to the clear distress in our server's eyes. The saddest part is I love Desy's and will be back, I just pray no one is taken advantage of the way we were.

Good bread to start out with. Clams oreganato were good but did not have a crunchy topping. The seafood salad had a good variety of seafood, including clams, shrimp, squid, The portions are big for the price. The flounder was fresh and flakey. The chicken parmigiana was crunchy and covered with cheese. So was the eggplant parmigiana. The cannolis were some of the best we've ever had. No cheesecake or spumoni on the desert menu or wine with the meal.

When I…read morefound myself galavanting in Bushwick on arguably the coldest day of the year, Ten Bells popped up as a natural haven where I unwrapped myself and indulged in my favorite food of the season. Right off the bat, the bar area is absolutely gorgeous and meets you with so much warmth, light and joy as soon as you walk in to this establishment. I plopped myself on the bar and had the pleasure of making conversation with Elouise and Alejandra. They put in my standard two dozen oyster order and paired my platter with a glass of the happy hour white wine which happens to be their house chardonnay. The oysters were delicious although I must say there was a lot of shell pieces inside, which was very annoying to eat. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of whoever is shucking them. I noticed the oysters they serve have a lot of thin slivers of shell on the edges which are bound to end up in your mouth. Perhaps they can try serving another variety of oysters? Just a thought. The chardonnay was pretty good and service was amazing. The girls at the bar also let me try the Ten Bells red wine which is produced specially for them in Boudreaux, France. It was a beautiful, light, and smooth red blend. As a wine lover, I will definitely be back to try more of their wines on tap. This is a great neighborhood establishment that I feel everyone should pop in and visit!!

Anyway, the food that we did end up getting was really good. I got whole fried fish and was told it would be about 10 mins for him to fry it fresh. Going to Greenpoint Fish and Lobster on a weekend is truly a mission. If you don't have a reservation chances are you'll be waiting around for a long time. They estimated 30min wait and it turned out to be over an hour. We were ready to walk away 3 times but ended up sticking around as we were promised we were third on the list meanwhile more than 3 parties were seated before us (strange!). Once we were seated, we ordered right away having had time to look at the menu while waiting. Crudo, dozen of oysters, clam chowder + lobster roll. - Crudo was a bit sad with 6 pieces of fish lying on a big plate with an insane amount of salt flakes. It was fresh but don't think it's worth ordering. - East coast oysters were puny. Very mid especially because I've recently tried some at Upstate that were amazing. They're incomparable. - Lobster roll. Okay should've just gone straight for the roll because it was perfect. Buttery and fresh with perfect balance of lobster roll bread. The salad dressing also was delicious. So good! Definitely highlight of this restaurant. - Clam chowder. Also 10/10. Hearty, flavorful. Loved every bite of it. Service was average. They weren't profoundly interested in giving best service instead just chatting amongst each other and dropping off plates. Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. Overall if you don't pay attention to those details it's worth coming for some great seafood. BUT I highly recommend getting a reservation.

When I got home i tried the tostones to see if it was better and it was worst . Just the worst I've ever had again plagued with the stale oil disease . The arroz con pollo isn't even worth discussing . This is the opposite of finesse . It's shredded chicken ( quite dry ) mixed in with the rice and veggies and two slabs of plantains on top for looks . The fried plantains helped a lot on masking the dryness and yuckiness of this meal . This was certainly not worthy of the calorie intake at all. I've had this same meal at other Ecuadorian restaurants and this was easily the worst . The portion size was huge though if that matters . It's amazing how many people I saw coming in and getting food while waiting for my order . Maybe I'm in the minority but I swear my experience was a waste of 20+ dollars .
