A friend and I went there this past Saturday for brunch and cocktails. On the plus side, it was probably one of the best bloody Marys I've ever had. And the corned beef scramble that I got was delicious. And on the negative side, you use your own phone to pull up the menu, and then you order your own food and drinks. No big deal, but when you go to pay, it automatically adds a 25% tip to your order. You can change it, which I did since we figured we were ordering our own food and just waiting for someone to bring it out to us. I changed it to 15%, but when I got home and looked at my bill it must have defaulted back to 25%. No I'm all for tipping, but I like to decide how much and if I tip. Our waitress/ hostess never came by to see how we were until we were done eating. And a different server comes out and brings your food. So I'm not really sure what I'm paying 25% for. We dined outside in an igloo! It's a very cool concept and we overall had an amazing experience! My son ordered the chicken appetizer and enjoyed them. My husband ordered the chicken sliders and loved them, they both had plain fries and loved them. I ordered the garlic Brussels and Cobb salad add chicken; they were both delicious! Full of flavor and cooked perfect. The only downside and the 4 star rating comes from the temp in igloo with the "heater." The heater was more for decor, we felt no heat whatsoever coming from it or in the igloo. Perfect for social distancing and still getting to go out for food and drinks! Loved the outdoor seating and that we could bring our dogs! Our picnic table was 10'+ away from the nearest people, the staff wore masks, and we had the option of ordering the in house food and drink from our phone! We had a 20 minute wait, but we got to go in the patio area and order a drink. We were there around 730p Wednesday, and there was room for us to drink and stand w/6ft between us and other people & got to talk to other dog owners. There was about 5 of us there with dogs. Need a summer drink? Order the slooshy with the extra shot. You only need one! Yummy and gets the job done! Loved the 3 food trucks for variety, and the in house food has always been good. I swear I have reviewed this place before and my review has disappeared. This place is a unique concept. Which has some Merit and would like to see it throughout some other locations in the surrouinding citys. That being said the Ambiance I think they nailed 100% but the quality of food selection is pretty poor . There was one truck called el guapo which had appeared to be basically a bunch of 15 year old kids from the local suburbanite high school attempting to make Mexican tacos. People were raving about this.......? They were without a doubt subpar and overpriced if you know what real street tacos taste like. The next order that we picked up was some falafels which were okay but nothing to write home about. And it seems like it is the same food trucks there the past two times we went. Again the Ambiance and concept I think they nailed. But if you're going to pay those prices for food truck food they need to be the quality that people have come to expect from owner operator for trucks with a passion for their craft. Detroit Fleat is simply a cool spot to chill with friends. My first time at Detroit Fleat was a few years ago. My friend introduced me to the food truck scene, which I enjoy! I love the different options for food and drink. We like to come here and play trivia, listen to music, or simply enjoy out time together. They always have unique drinks options and a very nice selection of beers on tap. On our most recent visit, they have changed up a few things due to Covid safety procedures, but it's still a fun spot. I'd rate 2.5 stars if I could, because 3 is kind of generous. I have been to Detroit Fleat a few times - a few times pre-pandemic and a couple times since. I've always had ok experiences. I definitely enjoyed it more when they had multiple food trucks, but seems now they only have their own food. However, a couple weekends ago I met up with a girlfriend here, and we had to wait about a half hour to be seated, which wasn't bad given it was nice out so they were pretty busy for a Saturday evening. That's really where the good experience ends. We were seated and ordered food through the QR code on the table, and the receipt on my phone showed I placed my order at 7:28 PM. Spoiler alert, we never got food. We sat for probably 45 minutes before anyone came to tell us that the kitchen was backed up because they only have three cooks. We asked how long it might be and they said they had no idea but probably another 20-30 minutes. We both rode our bikes and were hoping to be able to ride back in some sunlight. We were also both starving so we decided to see if even just one item came out to hold us over. When an hour came up, we asked again for an update, and they said that the kitchen hadn't even started making our food. Thankfully we asked for a refund and it was quickly given. By that time it was getting dark and cold, so there weren't even that many tables in the restaurant - outside or in. I don't know what happened, but it's unacceptable to let people sit for 45 minutes without even talking to us when we ordered some pretzel sticks, tacos, and nachos. All food that probably cooks in a few minutes or is already made. I guess beware if you think this will be a place for a quick bite or if you're really hungry. I think it would help a lot if they brought in food trucks again so their own kitchen isn't slammed if they don't have enough cooks available. Either way, they need to tell people how long the wait is for food when they give a reservation so people have a heads up. read more

This place is just up the road from our house, and we are really glad it is there. They have a great beer selection plus a full bar. We've had dinner here twice and brunch once. So far, we have tried the chicken sandwich, the garlic fries, the vegetarian tacos, and the dessert pretzel. I also got the biscuits and gravy for brunch. The food was good overall. The vegetarian tacos were pretty bland and the dessert pretzel was seriously overdone. I will say the biscuits and gravy were amazing. Service is pretty good. Everyone is very nice. I absolutely LOVE this place! It is a very popular food truck park with a cute patio and indoor bar. It is located right on 9 mile in Ferndale. It actually borders Hazel park since part of it is located on Hazel Parks side of 9 mile. It is a great place to grab a drink in the air conditioned bar if its too hot out. When its not too hot we choose the patio. My favorite food truck is Impasto which is Italian inspired wraps. They do have rotating food trucks which is posted on their facebook page. This food truck season operates from May-October. The only thing I wish was different during the week would be their hours. They don't open until 4pm wed-fri. Saturday and Sunday they open at 11am. We ordered two cocktails and two entrees and it was roughly $46 with tip...so it's not the cheapest but also not the priciest. We both left full and satisfied. She ordered the chicken sandwich which the queen graciously let me take a bath out of. They better it in cornmeal so if you're s fan of fried catfish, you would really enjoy it. To me, the 5 star review is a combo of atmosphere, being dog friendly, and the fries. I ordered the buffalo chicken fries and they were killer! They give you a respectful portion and had an amazing flavor! She ordered the espresso cocktail which was like an adult ice cap from timmy-hos. I wish I got that, cause it was sooooo tasty. Comes ordered with whip cream and caramel drizzle. I ordered the old fashioned. Its traditionally a smaller drink, but I felt it was a little smaller than most. Good taste however. Detroit Fleat is tucked away on 9 Mile, but before you get to the Woodward intersection. There is limited parking, so I ended up parking a block away on Troy St. I had been wanting to try it since it opened, so a friend and I went today and sat on their outdoor patio - you can choose to sit outside, which is covered but not entirely (not an issue unless it rains, which it ended up doing a bit today, oops ...) or inside, which is covered but has an open air vibe to it. Fleat is not inexpensive: I had their two BBQ sliders ($7) and their lemon pepper fries ($4) but all of the food was very tasty. There are different varieties of the fries, too, and you can also choose from dipping sauces - I added a chipotle pineapple dipping sauce for mine that was very good. We both ordered off the "house" menu but you can choose to do that or go for the food trucks, which are on a rotating schedule (check their Facebook page to see which trucks are there on which weeks - today [8/11/17] there was the Mac Shack, a sandwich place, and a Greek/gyro place, as well as one other, I believe). By the time we left, around 8 or 8:30pm, the place was getting crowded, so I recommend getting there around 6 or 7pm, too. I'm curious to see how this place does in the winter, with only the indoor seating, but it's the perfect setup for summer. I'll definitely be back at some point. read more

Stopped in for dinner a couple of weeks ago with a friend before we had to be at the Detroit Curling Club. We were seated indoors right away. Ordered the pretzels and beer cheese, chicken tortilla soup and some whiskey bacon sliders. Everything was very good. Sliders were moist and not over cooked. The whiskey BBQ sauce added a nice flavor. Chicken tortilla soup was good but I think it had too much cheese on it for me. It got very gloppy before we could finish it. The biggest set back for the meal was the indoor temperature. IT WAS EFFING COLD inside. We could not stick around long enough to finish our meal because we could not feel our fingers. I want everyone to know That the best thing about my experience was my cherry lime mule. Aside from the food truck selection, their in house selection is very limited. I went with the pulled pork sliders. They were flavorless pulled pork topped with flavorless pickled onions and a store bought BBQ sauce. It was a think and sweet sauce, like Sweet Baby Rays. For $7 for 2, they should have been better. My Cherry Lime Mule was yum! It was not served in a copper mug, booo. It had its fair amount of liquor in it and a piece of ginger candy. There was a nice even flavor and no flavor over powered another. Decor was cool. Very trendy and hipster. Now the service. We sat inside and had a waitress. She was soooooo sloooow and was way too busy sitting at a table chatting with friends than to take care of paying customers. I came here on a busy night Friday. It was a very nice scene. There was a band playing covers they were energetic. The scene was mostly young people in thier mid 20s. The baristas were nice even though it was busy. This place has food trucks outside, thermal domes for private parties and dates :) and a generally cool atmosphere. The drink menu is very good featuring local brews and the menu itself is creative featuring some stellar vegan options. I ordered the vegan dip slider and the vegan slider and a chicken slider. Personally my favorite was the vegan slider it has mushroom and beet patty that was very well done! It was savory and had a depth of flavor from the mushroom and contrasted well with the beet. This is without a doubt one of my favorite date places :) It's cute and chill, kind of like a nice 1st date place where there's music, open environment, great beer list and my summertime favorites: food trucks so I can mix and match what I'm feeling. Don't worry if you missed the food trucks their in the restaurant food is pretty amazing too! We went on taco Tuesday the last time: their taco and nachos have a good deal! I really did enjoy my fish tacos with the blackened fish which is always super super good and my friend loved her shrimp tacos that came with fried shrimp. The kicker here was the loaded buffalo fries! Okay... I am a buffalo wings fan and I can't say no to them... so if you're like me you will love these fries! Their beer list is incredible and reasonably priced too! I think it was one of the cheapest M43 drafts I've seen in the area :p but I was blown away by what my friend had gotten a blackberry sour by arclight, I'm not a sour beer girl, I'm an ipa girl but this got me and instantly became my new favorite!!! We had a very mixed experience here tonight. I paid $20 to book an igloo a month ago. We arrived and they hadn't kicked the heat on yet but it was ok. We ordered drinks and they arrived quickly. They were all good. The appetizers came without a hitch but my entree (ordered when appetizers came) took over an hour. I had to go in and ask for them. They came out about 10 minutes later. They weren't even the right sliders but I was so hungry by that point I didn't argue. Just a few minutes later the server came out and told us to wrap things up that we were almost out of time. I gave up on my food and my friends wrapped some leftovers. We weren't ready to go yet and wanted to just go inside. They told us no problem and we went to the hostess stand who informed us that there weren't any tables despite seeing two empty tables. I know I spent at least $80 by myself between food and appetizers to share. The other four had spent probably $40 each. Out for some Friday nite fun so I pulled up my list of places that I've been wanting to try and Detroit Fleat was at the top of the list. So me and my husband made our way there on this perfect weather Friday and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to some live music. We had to find parking on the street because of the small lot they have but it was really easy to find a spot right across the street. Once inside we were immediately greeted and asked if we had been there before and I told the hostess no it's was our first time. She gave us the complete rundown on everything and gave us a buzzer to wait for a table. We lucked up after ordered food from two of the food trucks and was able to grab some seats at the bar. Once at the bar we were able to order drinks right away and my husband got the flight of 4 different beers which is nicely priced and I had the peachy something but it was very good. Have you ever felt the thrill of feeling like you're on the top of your trivia game but just to have it all snatch away by a ruthless final question?! I have and it was at Detroit Fleat! I stopped by their trivia night and really enjoyed it. I personally think there are way too many trivia nights that have way too many questions about pop culture prior to the 1990s. I'm a millennial and I don't really care about rock and roll. Sorry. The questions were diverse and the quiz master kept things moving. The reason for the mediocre rating was the food. I got the loaded buffalo fries and the lemon pepper drumsticks. The drumsticks were actually tasty and unique because I've never had wings like that. The loaded fries were a let down though because the fries got way too soggy and tasty like mush. The absolute worst place in the state of Michigan that I have tried. To begin with the service is nonexistent, just an impatient lady at a booth you must go up to with an attitude taking your order. You pay at the booth, sit down at a crusty, dirty, uncomfortable table, and wait for your food. We ordered everything from the house menu. This was our first time here and we ordered A LOT and spent A LOT of money, UNFORTUNATELY! Everything we got was absolutely disgusting, cold, and clearly undercooked. This was the least enjoyable meal i've ever had. The slooshies were absolutely terrible and extremely strong with absolutely no flavor. The pretzels were extremely overly salty and the beer cheese tasted like straight unflavored beer. The buffalo loaded fries were cold/frozen and the one bite I took made me feel sick to my stomach. The "loaded" kettle chips were far from "loaded", had barely any toppings and were soggy. I can go on and on about the gross food and lack of service, but i'll just sum it up; DON'T COME HERE! Wasted a lot of money on food we did not eat nor take home. All went in the trash because of how gross and unedible it was. Could not even look at it anymore. We took maybe a couple bites of each thing and left the table full of food. As soon as we left, I threw up and threw up again the next day because of how bad the food was / made me feel. Visitied Detroit Fleat on Saturday. Made a reservation to be safe and the inside was super busy, which is to be expected on a Saturday during March Madness (Michigan was playing at the time). It was super loud due to the number of people and then the music volume was turned up. This made it tricky to have a conversation. The 4 stars isn't because of this, but the actual food. The taste was fine, but I was hoping for more. The batter on the shrimp was pretty soggy, which could have been from the sauces, but I'm not sure that was it. Came here on a Tuesday night but to our dismay ~just~ missed the food trucks, so we decided to eat at the restaurant on the patio instead as it was a beautiful evening. There were some decent drink and food specials going on, which was a nice perk. The food was pretty good, though they did mess up one of our orders. We tried a couple tacos and the house veg burger (sadly that sounded better than it tasted). We also had the lemon pepper fries with chipotle pineapple remi dip; fries were good, ended up throwing out the dip. Service was middle of the road; not super attentive, but didn't suck. What bothered me the most about Detroit Fleat though was that they were using plastic/disposable utensils (wrapped in plastic), including the cups! I understand this is probably ideal for the food trucks, but if you are ordering and eating at the restaurant, I really think you should be using re-usable items. Had to do residential street parking Food: theres the house menu (food/drinks) / 4 food trucks. The place is somewhat vegetarian friendly. It would depend on the food trucks. My date got food from the mac truck (fyi: they use parmasean cheese - which isnt vegetarian bc uses calf rennet) & I got food from the Pita Truck. Because it waa opening weekend, they ran out of some ingredients & did not make that apparent at the food truck. Seating: outside / bar seating is first come first serve. Will likely be back to try out the various food trucks that come through here! Love this concept and I love that this exists. To keep it short if you don't know what fleat is, there is a brick-and-mortar establishment with a bar tables and bathrooms, and then garage like doors that lead you to a decently sized outdoor patio. There are spaces around it for for food trucks to park. They rotate. When you come in you will have a waitress, and your waitress will let you know if you've never been there that you can order off of kitchen items or you can order from the food trucks or both. Anything you order off of the what I'll call inside menu they'll bring to you and ring you up for on a tab, or you can go up to the food trucks and just order and pay there. You can also get your drinks from the inside. They have a little water station outside also that you can use to fill up your own water. I think it's awesome that there is an indoor area and there are bathrooms, because when I came here for the first time I didn't even know that the indoor part existed. There is a parking lot on either side of the establishment, but as was pointed out to me if you have a bigger car it's not a great idea to park in them and maybe better off parking on the street. It seems that the angles of the parking spots caused quite congestion when people are pulling in and out, and I've heard stories of people backing into others often or being sideswiped completely on accident. You can park on both sides of the neighboring streets so if you are able to just park and walk then I would recommend doing that. Overall my experience was great and I will definitely be back for different rotating trucks and for the food on the inside menu. The nachos that I had from fleats home menu were one of my favorite things so try those out along with your food truck desires. read more

The Papa Smurf is a small bowl of Mac and cheese topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and shaved parmesan. The Bacon bowl is Mac and cheese topped with bacon, tomato, and green onions. From the Delectabowl truck, we chose the comfort bowl. This bowl is cornbread topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, cheddar cheese, and bbq sauce. I'm a pulled pork fan, and this one did not disappoint. Super fun place to go on a Saturday. Love that they are dog-friendly. I get a kick out of noshing and looking at all the cute pooches. Was a little bummed that after I ordered a truck that had arancini pulled up. Ugh! Good excuse to go again. I had a schnitzel sandwich, which was delish! Great location, great concept. Still having service issues. I came in today hoping to make this my regular lunch place. Signs said "Seat Yourself", and it was a beautiful day, so I walked out to the patio and sat down. No one came for over 10 minutes, so I decided to get up and seek someone out. When my server came to the table, she took my order without writing anything down. She brought my drink and my appetizer, but totally forgot to enter my tacos, so I ended up leaving without having my complete lunch. More server training please! We'll be back in a few months to give it yet another try. We live within 10 minutes and will not be recommending this place until they improve. read more
