We had a great first experience at Irish Tavern and intend to go back. Passing by this place is always packed, so we opted to stop in. The server was helpful and got us signed up for a loyalty program to get $10 off our next time in. The gravy on the biscuits & boxty was a highlight. Homemade without being starchy like some gravy is. I had the cobb salad. It was good, the chicken was a bit dry. It appeared that they had sliced pre-breaded chicken and then fried it which dried some of it out That would be my only knock but again will return!

I have to begin by saying the best part of my meal here, was the ambiance for someone's birthday party during karaoke night. I may be a tad biased, but the moment we said we didn't want alcohol our waitress bailed and pretty much forgot about us after taking our water/iced tea order; we only received the water. We had ordered the pretzel with beer cheese for an appetizer and two cups of the French onion soup and our entrees were two different boxty meals. We never received the appetizer and when it finally arrived, the soup and meals followed within seconds. So, we went from being completely overlooked to flooded with food all at once. Overall, the soup was tasty and the pretzels were piping hot, but both of our meals seemed like they were lacking some filling. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I probably wouldn't go back, but I'd tell you go try it for yourself. Maybe it was just a bad night?

This place is "IT" for brunch! Of the handful of times we've been here either buy ourselves or with a group, brunch has been our stop 100% of the time. Can't go wrong with a good boxty and bottomless mimosas! Depending on the time, I've gotten a club sandwich/chicken sandwich a time or two as well, but their breakfast items are a huge hit! Maybe one day we'll be back for dinner/drinks, but the morning time on the weekends is definitely a lot of fun and will fill you up!

Came for opinionation Tuesday and had a great time! I loved this version of trivia. The service throughout was great as we added people to the table they were very understanding. I got the chicken boxty which was phenomenal! What a unique item! Good selection of beers, ciders, sours and cocktails

Great atmosphere. Super cool! The garage doors to the bar or TVs on the opposite walls framed in above the floor seats. The food was solid to great and the service was fast and friendly. Great spot for us that we will be visiting again soon.

Decided to go Irish since it's close by and open for dine-in and a place we haven't been to yet. They have a live Irish band. We are out on the patio. It's written on the menu that they charge extra for credit card charges, passing on the 3% charge the owner is too cheap to pay for with having a business and all. I am already not loving the business model of this place. I already have a feeling we will be charged for the club soda. Our waitress is nice enough, but she's training Patrick. We asked for a minute to order, we got a few minutes to order our food. We ordered the Turkey Reuben and a buffalo chicken salad had a side of cole slaw too. Some guy came into the enclosed patio with his tank top and his dog on the patio. He sat at table right by us. He's less than 3 feet away from me. He was here to see Sally, so he says and knows the staff here as well. He came in like he owned the place and plopped himself right by us and let his dog get too close for comfort for me. I don't mind dogs by me on an open patio, but not a huge fan when it's enclosed and feet's away from my food. He wasn't leaving anytime soon. We grabbed our waters and went to get an inside table far from this clueless guy. The Buffalo chicken salad wasn't too bad, crisp romaine lettuce. Bread roll was warm and had a nice crust to it. The Turkey Reuben was also okay. Fries were crispy. Turkey meat seemed uneven and different thickness and slices. As expected all of the menu prices were inflated to reflect the 3% on the bill. The live Irish band is a nice added touch. Patrick is super attentive, warm and friendly. He will do well for sure, he has a good personality and is patient and on top of things too.

Went here for a quick drink after work with some coworkers and although it was busy, service was great! Had some great music (great DJ/playlist that night) for a relaxing environment. However the best thing was the fried pickles! They were crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside making one of the best fried pickles I've had. Would recommend!

First off they did not ask me how I liked my burger cooked so they made it well done, and it made me extremely sick.

I frequently see Mitch, the current owner, very involved in the day to day operations which means he's close to the action, aware, and he is kind. The Celtic Rueben is a good choice on a cold day if you're hungry. Also, the bar has two unique spaces to enjoy. Up front closer to Maple is more like an old school pub with some unique wood counters/bar and the back of the bar has more of a warehouse feel with a long bar with several options on tap and a great place to enjoy watching a game with friends.

My salad had canned corn and jalapeños on it, the avacado was old, and the dressing was watered down, no flavor. The french fries, chicken wings, and chicken tenders were frozen from a box and just thrown in a fryer. They didn't even taste like they bothered to let to food fry long enough. The slider my son had as gross, luckily he's 5 and doesn't know any better, however he still didn't want to eat it. When we addressed this the server, who was new, she was kind enough. But then the owner, Mitch I believe, came out and refused to make any accommodations for the disgusting food. He got loud and boisterous with us, spoke down to us, and was even so bold as to claim that they have never had any complaints the whole time he's owned the place. Needless to say I'll never take my family to this place again. YOU should stear clear as well. This business needs to fail as it's a blemish on the prestige that comes from owning a business in the beautiful city of Birmingham. Find somewhere else in the two minute walk it would take to go somewhere else.

The restaurant had been closed for the entire week after the July 4 holiday, yet Kevin O'Mara and his team opened on Saturday just to host our family and friends. That level of hospitality meant a great deal during a difficult time. We chose the wild-caught walleye over the prime rib, and it was the right decision. Lightly breaded and seasoned just enough to let the fish speak for itself, it was excellent. The whiskey sauce bread pudding was memorable, and even the coleslaw stood out with a unique flavor that had everyone asking what was in it. What impressed me most, though, was how much the restaurant has evolved. We had eaten here six or seven years ago and left feeling the family-style meals lacked creativity. This visit was a completely different experience. You can tell Kevin has thoughtfully reinvented the menu, emphasizing wild-caught and organic ingredients, avoiding unnecessary additives, and preparing everything with care. The staff was attentive, Kevin was an exceptional host, and every detail helped make an emotional day easier for our family. Five stars. Highly recommended.
