I do not recommend Detroit Furnace A plumber from Detroit Furnace came out to my home due to plumbing issues; all of the toilets and sinks were backing up or draining slowly. After looking at all of the toilets, the Detroit Furnace plumber stated that there was not an issue. Before the plumber left, I was able to replicate the issue. The plumber then stated that it could be caused by a number of things, all of which were not covered by DTE's Home Protection Plan, however for $375 he would start by snaking out one of the toilets to see if that was the problem. Believing this to be a scam, i.e. the plumber stated that he wasn't sure of the problem but would charge $375 to initiate a possible solution, I refused. Due to my extreme dissatisfaction with Detroit Furnace, the Home Protection Plan honored my request and sent out another company. The plumber from the other company was professional and very knowledgeable. This other plumber was able to immediately diagnose and resolve the issue, which was covered by my plan. read more

A driver from this company smashed into our commercial awning with his ladder truck. Over 4000 worth of damage and company is denying the repair. Driver was on his own personal time at time of accident. What kind of business doesn't take responsibility for the damage they caused. I had Jason come out today after my HVAC was leaking. He was able to quickly come out via DTE and quickly diagnosed the leak being due to a clog by sediments or something of the sort. He was here for about 20 minutes and was able to fix the issue. He also showed up within the first hour of the timeframe, which I really appreciated. I will request this company again in the future. When Mitchell arrived after calling in advance he quickly identified the issue as a malfunctioning igniter. He had the part on his truck and installed it on the spot. Thank you Perry! job well done. The automatic water feeder malfunctioned on my 4 year old boiler. I called DTE their service person informed me that a automatic water feeder is not covered by their Home Protection Plan. I had Detroit Furnace number form services in the pass. Call made...Perry was on the way. He re-piped some areas where linking was occurring causing wast of water. Those areas look like jewelry the copper is pretty. My new water feeder looks great and I don't hear the water running in like before. I feel confident that I called the right company and I will be warm for more winters to come here in Michigan. read more

I couldn't be more satisfied with the service provided by Detroit Furnace. To start with, we started the repair process during the holidays. At first we thought it was something as simple as the pilot light. The technician had to come back out a 2nd time. Detroit Furnace didn't even charge us for the 2nd visit. Shout out to E. Lee. We ended up having to purchase a brand-new furnace. There were no high pressure sales tactics AND Detroit furnace is one of only 3 companies in the Metro Detroit area that qualifies for a special low interest loan from a credit union. This program is called MISaves. It's a special government program that offers low-interest loans to homeowners updating their old HVAC systems. Ryan guided us through the process and patiently answered all of our questions. We got a great rate on a loan for a new energy efficient furnace. Add to that, the technicians were out 2 days before Christmas when we had that major snowfall and cold snap. We were so happy to be in our own warm home for the holiday. I needed my sewer lines checked out, called for an appointment for them to run a camera through sewer line, found no problem even though toilet in main bathroom is still gurgling when flushed. Jacob was the repairman and said I needed air vents put into my sewer lines in the basement. After charging me 500.00 dollars to install 2 vents my problem still exists. Called Jacob again and was told that maybe it was the vents on the roof, now wants to charge me 625.00 dollars to go up there and check and clean it out, he was going to talk to plumbing supervisor to see if he could cut the price for me. That was 2 weeks ago still have not heard from anyone. I would not recommend this company to do anything in my house, terrible service and communication. Only get one star because I can't go any lower. I am 70 years old and cannot climb on my roof so I guess I will have to find someone else to go up there and check out my vent stacks. read more

My name is Joette Darby and I am 71 years old. I live in Detroit, Michigan. This winter at the end of February 2023 the storm damaged my furnace and DTE sent out Detroit Furnace to look at the damage and they said it could not be fixed and that if I had good credit I could get it financed. My credit was good and I told the young man that was sent by DTE from Detroit Furnace that I wanted everything replaced that I had, and that was the furnace, central air, and humidifier all brand new. I was very sick due to the extremely cold weather and no working furnace and was wearing a mask. I emphasized over and over that I wanted these three things like I had before the furnace went out. The young man assured me that I would have these things and had me sign the contract. Normally, I go over every thing very carefully but I was so sick that I just sign the contract trusting the young man. It cost me 5000 dollars plus 29 for processing. The next day they came and put the furnace in. Well, months later when it got very warm I turned on my central air and about an hour or so later the house was still warm. I went to check to see what was going on and very little air was coming out of the vents. I waited again and the same thing was happening. I called Detroit Furnace and they said that I did not request the central air and that they have the signed contract. I explained to them that I explicitly spoke with the young man they had sent out several times and was adamant that I wanted central air. They sent someone out ant he checked everything and said that they had put the furnace in properly and he could sell me central air for 3500 or something around this figure or more. I called the company that financed the furnace and they said that according to their records I was suppose to get central air also for the 5000 financing that they gave me. So, I realized that Detroit Furnace can not be trusted and will lie to your face. I do not know if this was due to my age being a senior citizen and they thought I was senile, my being a woman, or because I am an Afro-American. read more

Great Story!!!!! I contacted DF on Oct11th. Appt was scheduled for 8a-12p on Oct 12th. DF arrived at 1237p & both technicians were very professional. One of the technicians came up from my basement to inform me that my gas valve needed to be replaced & they needed to go take care of another job & pick up the part. I expressed concern with them leaving my job without completing the work so the technician said that they would just go to pick up the part. The DF technicians returned an hour later & began the replacement. At about 330p, the technician knocked on the upstairs door to inform me that the job was more than they expected but the new valve was installed so they needed to leave to go to 3 other jobs and would return in the evening as they would be working until midnight. I contacted their office to express concern about how DF was again attempting to "leave me hanging". The boss/owner (not sure who he was) informed me that the job was more than they expected & that I should have told him during initial call for service that I was in an area that was flooded as this would require more time & he would have given me a bigger window for service. I informed him that I was going out of town for work & had told his guys about the flood. I assumed that they knew about the floods in the East English , Cornerstone, Morningside, Grosse Point area as we got their number from the numerous trucks we saw in our neighborhoods. I also asked him to not try to blame the customer after he had already told me before the visit that the job would cost $85 per hour plus parts. When I asked "when" they would return, he also told me that he could not commit to when his crew would return to complete the job & it could possibly be that night (or not). This guy was very unprofessional. After this convo with the DF boss, I called another furnace company. They arrived at my place around 6pm the same day. He determined that the gas valve was not completely installed correctly so he removed it while I watched. He showed me that the pipe feeding into the gas valve & out of the gas valve were both clogged. The manifold was also completely clogged that is fed from the pipe that leaves out of the gas valve. After cleaning out the parts, and reinstalling the piece correctly that lights the pilot, my boiler was running. He also stated that the flood had no impact on the duration of the work that needed to be performed. He was done and out of my place within 35 to 45 minutes. Later that evening, I received a call after 815p from the technicians attempting to come back to my place. I informed him to have his boss contact me. I received a call from 1 of the 2 technicians the next day (Oct 13, 2021) around 425p. I informed him of the cleanup work that was performed by another company & how long it took to complete. The technician said that the work done by the other company is what they were returning to do. The next day (Oct 14, 2021...1222p), the owner/boss called me to collect payment. I 100% agree that I owe them for the part & the initial $85 fee for showing up. When I reminded him that I told him I was heading out of the country & would contact him when I returned, he asked "when"? I must admit that I enjoyed telling him that I wasn't sure when but would call him ....just as he would not commit to when his team would return to my place to finish the job. This guy then threatened me with legal action if I didn't call him by the tomorrow. As I explained that I used HIS WORDS in my response, he hung up the phone in my face!! In a follow up text from him, he alludes to me writing bad reviews would be based upon him asking me for payment. LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Are you kidding me? They give me a fair price, are timely and make even some of the really old stuff keep working. After coming home from a week vacation I turned up our 15 year old hot water heater from vacation to our regular heat setting. After unpacking I took our suitcases downstairs to the basement to find water running out of the tank. We have the DTE repair insurance, so we called them. They set up for a repair tech from Detroit Furnace to come out the next day. This really surprised me because it was the Labor Day weekend. Right on time that Saturday morning Mitch was there to check it out. Mitch took his time checking the unit out, but finally told us what we expected, it had to be replaced. He gave us the replacement cost, which included taking the old tank away and taxes. He then set up an installation for that Tuesday, the day after Labor Day. He told us to get other quotes, and if we found one that we'd rather go with just call the office and cancel, no charges. Most other companies were closed, without an emergency number. The one we did talk too was several HUNDRED dollars more, for the same tank brand and service. The installers weren't supposed to arrive until the afternoon, however they called in the morning and asked if they could come then, of course. The installers were Mike and Ethan. Both were friendly and pleasant. They went right to work: taking out the old tank, installing the new one. They also put up with us two older persons hanging around watching, and asking questions. They did not leave until the water was heating, running and the whole area cleaned. Mike also walked us through the new settings control, and he also gave me helpful advice on how to move effectively do the yearly tank draining. Mike told us that they try and treat everyone like family, and that they do. This was the first time we used Detroit Furnace, and we were very, very happy with them. read more

DO NOT USE!!! SCAMMER!! Last summer my AC unit WAS working PERFECTLY! I was getting a lot of condensation on the outside of my furnace (which I later found out was normal when the outside air is over 100 degrees and the AC is going full blast! ) I called Inland Lakes Heating and Cooling (aka Detroit Furnace) and they came and said I needed a new A-Coil. They charged me $450 and replaced my coil with a USED one! (which makes no sense!) Then they told me my Freon pressure was to high, and so they " let some Freon out" which I also found out was total BS!! After the guy left my AC unit was no longer blowing cold air!! I called and waited 6 hours for the contractor to return... he told me I needed a whole new unit!! That's I flipped out and demanded my money back... which he did give, but still have an AC that was working great... now not so much... DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! read more

I live in Rosedale Park, which is in Northwest Detroit. I currently have an appliance protection plan with DTE. My furnace went out last week, so DTE sent Detroit Furnace to inspect it. After spending less than 10 minutes to inspect my furnace, I was told that I needed a new furnace AND that my current furnace was leaking carbon monoxide. The guy immediately tried to sell me a furnace. Something just didn't set right. I have carbon monoxide detectors in my home, and they never went off. I then called DTE to tell them that I think the guy was trying to rip me off. Detroit Furnace told DTE that y furnace was not serviceable, and that it had to be replaced. After going back and forth with the DTE service rep, they decided to send someone else out to look at my furnace. BUT, they sent another technician from Detroit Furnace. Needless to say, this guy backed up the first guys diagnosis. As I was leaning towards believing these guys, I thought I would get at least one more diagnosis before committing to a new furnace. The technician that came out spent over an hour trying to get that furnace to malfunction, and trying to get some sort of carbon monoxide reading. Even with the better carbon monoxide detector, the reading stayed at ZERO! To go a step further, the technician tapped into the furnace's exhaust to get a reading, and still no carbon monoxide. AND to go even one more step, I had ANOTHER technician come and check it out, still NO CARBON MONOXIDE, and my furnace is functioning very well. The problem that I had was a CLOGGED AIR FILTER! I surely hope that people get second opinions when dealing with these guys! TOTAL RIP-OFFS! read more

I don't know much about heating and cooling but around new years i had family and friends coming to visit. the night before they arrived i woke up around 2 a.m. and my house was freezing! I walked around and checked the vents and there was no heat blowing at all. I called two other companies before i called Detroit Furnace, neither picked up. When William answered the phone he was very friendly and helpful he told me someone was on the way but in the meantime he tried to walk me through fixing it my self (I'm not the most mechanically inclined person). we weren't able to fix it over the phone but within a half hour of calling Frank (the repair man sent by William) had arrived. He was very polite after 45 mins frank was done working and the vents were blowing warm air again. Frank had informed me that The ignitor had cracked. I am so thank full for William and Frank, it was so cold and at 2 in the morning I was surprised that they answered. read more
