By chance, really, as I saw the owner's Raptor ripping full send on Broadway. I called and before I knew it, the owner and I were planning a strategic roadmap of getting my truck to its dream state. We started with a standard service, which was much more thorough than what I got at the dealer, then we did a Whipple stage 1 system install. The performance is amazing and I wouldn't have gone with this upgrade if it weren't for Mark and Jason going over the best most logical options out there. My suspension needs some attention, and right away they pointed out where and how my issues can be addressed. That'll be the next visit. Bought a truck from Devil Mountain Diesel that owner Mark said was fully overhauled. He promised email confirmation with the details -- never sent it. Zero follow-through and total lack of professionalism on a major purchase. Called to follow up and got pure passive-aggressive Brokeback Mountain diva attitude from Mark: big sighs, "I'll get to it when I have a chance," zero help. Big tough guy acting like a miserable b*tchy old woman. It was very strange the way he carried on. Pure petty queen energy -- disappointing and unprofessional as hell. Would not recommend. Diagnosed for one issue and then took apart the entire engine only to find out it would cost thousands to put it back together. Had AAA pick up the truck and was told "oh that piece of Sh$t is out back", driver was told it would have been brought out for him to load it up. Unprofessional, expensive and rude. There are too many decent working people running shops out there to be bothered with this one. Failure to even be honest. Oh and the engine was in parts and pieces in the truck bed upon pick up. After having a less than stelar experience with another shop that is a diesel specialist in the area, I decided to try Devil Mountain for an emergency issue I had with my 2005 Dodge Cummins. I had not gone to Devil Mountain before as they appeared to be a Ford focused shop, which does appear to be most of their business, but they turned out to very knowledgeable about Dodge products. In terms of the actual work, it was performed properly, they communicated clearly, and pricing was fair. Be aware, their labor rates are at the higher end, but in exchange, it appears that the people who are actually working on your vehicle are well experienced mechanics. As such, I view their rates as fair. I will gladly use them again in the future. read more

I want to say thank you for the thorough maintenance/service that this facility provided for my vehicle at a fraction of the cost of the previous facility where I used to take my vehicle. At the previous facility they had my vehicle three consecutive times, in total one month. Not only that they couldn't diagnose what was wrong with my vehicle and not having a company vehicle out for a month cost you a lot of money and you lose a lot of opportunities. The knowledgeable staff told me what was wrong with the initial day I checked my vehicle in at Devil Mountain diesel. They even found other components within my steering that were in need of attention, and thankfully they did because if the problem persisted. I would've had to pay for a whole new steering system due to lack of maintenance from the previous facility not only that they performed all repairs, and when something new arose they didn't price gouge me. Being out of town I needed to find a reliable diesel performance shop to take a look at my truck. Unfortunately the Yelp reviews led me astray because this shop is far from professional. I dropped my truck off because it was making a incredibly awful noise from the turbos and I explained this to them. The next day comes with no phone call so I give them a ring and am told that their techs are driving it around. He promised to call me at the end of the day which he did not and when I called he just further explained how they have been driving it around. Well as any good shop would do they would pop the hood and start looking around. He told me the next day he could hook my turbos up and run a test which I would have been more than happy with. Next day rolls around and its 2 of clock with no phone call. I call to check in only to get a response that his tech is out driving my truck again trying to recreate the noise I had. At this point I told him to bring my truck back and I was going to pick it up. After a short conversation with the guy up front about how he can't do a diagnose it until he hears tHe sound so I leave and get in my truck to discover that it is cold and that really no one was out driving it. Moral of the story is this shop is far from professional. Any good diesel mechanic could of popped my hood and seen I had a turbo seal leaking oil possibly being the cause of the problem, but they didn't. Anyone who knows diesels and is into diesel performance STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. I mean what to expect from a guy who used to be a ford tech? What a joke. Below are pictures of turbo issues I had that these guys failed to even notice probably because they didn't even open the hood. Edit: Took my truck my much more reliable shop, took it in same day, found my turbos seals were bad and bad crossover tube seals and replaced them same day I dropped the truck off, that's a reliable shop! Also, I didn't try to pass my truck without emissions. That was the first thing I mentioned to your employees because I know how it may affect your shop with the EPA. As an owner you should be more aware of goes on in your shop. read more

ok so my aunt and uncle decided to make an attempt to bring their business to this place. my uncle got a quote and liked the price and had my aunt head down there and leave them a cash deposit.. ok so she did and the guy calls her back and 500-600 more than what he was quoted and he mentioned that his truck was too old. WTF? not recommending going to this place to save you all the gray hair. I will never be able to express my gratitude to this company and the team it holds. I bought a lemon of a truck, 2003 F250 with a 6.0L motor. I took it to a mechanic shop in Livermore where they only made my matters worse, originally I just needed the motor studded. I came out of that shop with more problems than I could afford. I contact this shop for a second opinion. Mark understood my concerns and was completely honest with me through my tragic ordeal. He showed me everything that I couldn't had seen buying this truck. I got ripped off by the people I bought it from and the previous mechanic. The story may have been different if I'd taken it to Mark in the first place but never the less. He was straight up and honest with me. I bought a new truck already studded and he took the time to look at my new truck. I understand a lot more now that I have dealt with Mark and Devil Mountain Diesel. I will never take my diesel anywhere else, even if I moved. It's worth the drive. My home is 87 miles from Devil Mountain Diesel but when I called Bullet Proof Diesel . Com, the manufacture of the proven Bullet Proof performance parts that correct the 6.0 Ford's problems I was lead to them. Bullet Proof representatives took time to listen to my delima and helped me understand my options, they me feel my 40K dollar truck that I worked so hard for could not only be saved but become that reliable truck I was looking for in the beginning when I originally ordered it in the first place, but if I was taking it to a shop to have it worked on I should take it to a trained "Master Ford" shop, skilled & trained on this type of complicated service and highly recommenced by Bullet Proof.com, the parts being used along with everything else that was done. I took that advise and call Devil Mountain, Jason one of the owners answered the phone with an attitude like he was waiting for just my call, he counseled me for 20 minutes on the problems of my current truck, listened intuitively to me on how I use my truck and what I use it for and where (climate & such). We went over the pro's and con's of just going ahead and buying a new truck, but Jason and the other owner Mark both agreed that fixing mine was the best cost effective choice and provided me with facts of why this was the best dirrection. Faced with a $12,500 dollar repair or a $55,000 new truck to include the possible problems that exist when buying new I decided to let Devil Mountain proceed with the work. I did talk to other shops in my area but not one gave me the confidence and supporting satisfaction Devil Mountain did, everything right from the beginning of my first phone call with them to the day I picked it up. So I had my truck towed 87 miles and said goodbye for two long to me weeks. Devil Mountain new I made a living with that truck and they tried to get it done fast but never a loss in quality workmanship. In the end they did what they said they were going to do with no fluff , price discussed is what I paid. I have now placed after repairs another 3500 hundred miles of hard towing (tractors) over Pechaco Pass, up HWY 50 and 120 and 80 in 108 temperature days at times with the A/C on without a single problem, not one hiccup, my gauges they supplied report nothing stressing under the hood and I'm pulling 3 to 6 to 11 thousand pounds behind me all the time. Because I took the time to research a quality manufacture I was introduced to a highly qualified shop, one I now call our family diesel shop, and yes I will drive only there (or get towed) if I have future problems, I can assure you of that, if I lived closer they would be servicing all our cars as well. But when only the best will do and every dollar counts absent of the BS, Devil Mountain Diesel is one of those top shops you'er so glad you found. read more

To start off, not a great experience. First day I dropped my truck off they seemed knowledgeable and were willing to do the work. Two days later, never heard back what was going on or if they diagnosed the issue. Fast forward to three weeks later, NEVER got any phone calls regarding my truck, I was always the one to initiate the phone conversation, it was always a wait to see if they would let me know what was going on. I'm not the type of person to bother the business because I know they have other issues on their hands. The first phone call I received from Devil Mountain Diesel was to let me know my truck was finished. Story doesn't end... Pick up my truck and drive away, about 15-20 miles later, truck breaks down. I tried calling them back to make things right and it went to voicemail. Still no phone call back. Just a bit disappointed and let down. I know S**T happens, but there were to many red flags that urged me to write this review. To say the least, I will not be returning to this business nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more

My husband & I were visiting family and friends in the area when our F-250 diesel truck failed to start in my sister's driveway. After my husband tried a few fix-it ideas and troubleshooting to no avail, he called Devil Mountain Diesel to see if they had time to take a look at it on short notice, as we were scheduled to head back home to Idaho in less than a week! They said they'd be able to fit in a diagnostic that day or next and let us know what it would take to get us back on the road. Had the truck towed on over and the guys were able to pinpoint the problem (FICM failure) and have it road-ready in time for us to leave for Idaho as planned. Mark & Jason were friendly and professional, extending us the courtesy to squeeze in working on our truck so we could get back home. Although, unfortunately, the FICM they installed failed on us 50 miles from home, they stepped up and stood by their warranty. After our local Ford dealer replaced the failed FICM, and we mailed back the defective part, Mark ensured that a replacement core was mailed back to us so we could receive the core credit here. In addition, a full refund of the part and labor was mailed as well. My husband & I were impressed with Mark's follow-through, especially after my husband made an inquiry as to how long it would take for us to receive the replacement core and refund check. My husband had Devil Mountain also replace the serpentine water pump drive belt, which has been just fine. We realize the FICM failure was not Devil Mountain's fault yet they stepped up and honored the warranty on the part and labor even though we were from out-of-state and unable to bring our truck back to them to do the warranty work. Made a call to Devil Mountain Diesel a few weeks ago to see about getting the front pinion seal replaced and aftermarket exhaust put on my 06 Dodge 2500. After a bad experience at a different Bay Area shop (and there is not many diesel shops around) Devil Mountain was my final hope and I wish I had just gone there first. Absolutely worth the drive from Fremont to Walnut Creek for me. No more gear fluid on my driveway and my truck sounds great! I've already referred a couple guys there. These guys are really friendly and seem very knowledgable especially about fords I would much rather go here then the ford dealer. With that being said they charged me 120$ for what appeared to be a safety inspection. I would love to bring my truck back here but I will definitely think twice unless I have plenty of money to spend. I don't expect anyone to work for free but 120$ to tell me I need new brake pads, tie rods, and hubs is a little steep. I know places usually charge 30$ for similar inspections and some even do it for free like big o and les shwab in order to earn some business. I dropped it off because I was concerned with my engine and fuel system but didn't get any feed back on that but was still 120$ out of pocket. read more
