The ambiance was nice, however the service was super slow and horrible. We walked in, no one to greet us. After about a minute of waiting, the bartender walked out and seated us, without even greeting us. He asked, do you have reservations, we said no, do we need one. He says, no it's ok. Don't even ask to follow him. Just walked us over to a corner table. After about 8 minutes, the manager himself takes our order. He was Latin as can be, most likely Mexican. My partner, who doesn't speak English, was describing to me what she wanted to order, he just looks at me as if he didn't understand her. I ordered the chicken parm which was horrible. The chicken was small, breading was burnt and stale. The linguine didn't taste like anything. The sauce didn't even have salt in it. My partner had just linguine with pink sauce, which again had no seasoning on it all. I left all my linguine and less than half the small chicken breast. My partner hardly touched her food. I got up and went to the bathroom to throw up my food of how bad it was. At no time did anyone come to our table to check up on us. After 10 minutes of waiting for someone to bring the check, another waiter was with the table beside us, I asked him for the check. He brought it, I asked if I can use Apple Pay, they as me to go pay the Manager who was by the register. He didn't even ask how the meal was. As I'm Handing him my credit card, I told him the meal was horrible, it had no taste, for which his immediate response was, well, I noticed you didn't touch your linguine, but you ate half your chicken. For which I replied, I threw up the small piece of chicken I ate. For which he said, do you wish for me to deduct half the chicken from your bill? For which I answered, I didn't share my feedback for a free meal, I shared my feedback as you didn't even bother to ask and I feel you as the Manager should be aware. For which he didn't even bother to answer. The place is not cheap, it's pricey. The service is horrible and the Manager could give three craps how your food tasted. I will say that the Rosemary focaccia bread was very good. Hopefully if you're not Gay, you might have a better experience as well as fair treatment. read more

When you walk in you automatically feel the elegance. The black cushioned seats, the globe lighting, and the inside trees truly add to the ambiance. Plus they make their own pasta! Came to celebrate my besties birthday with a large group -- we had a reservation and got sat down right away -- the interior looks great and the service was fantastic. My only complaint is that the menus are annoyingly large which isn't really a big deal. I got the burrata e bresaole as an app and it was very good along with the Italian 75 to drink. For the main I had the Rigatoni Bolognese which was good but not great, I should've been more adventurous. The bucatini was popular in our group but I think the most liked dish was the Chicken Parmigiana. The only disappointing food was a seafood pasta special I tried, I love garlic and my dish had a full roasted clove in it which was great but all I could taste in the seafood pasta was raw garlic. For dessert I got the tiramisu which was absolutely delicious. I also tried the bourbon apple crisp gelato and it was just as good! To paraphrase Danny's quote, I walked practically a million blocks to get here. You see, I had originally taken rideshare to a different Italian restaurant suggested by the front desk crew at my hotel. However, that spot was booked for ostensibly an hour. Since my heart & belly were set on Italian, I looked on Yelp mobile and found DeVito's. Thinking it was close, I actually ended up walking the wrong way and back (great way to explore a city!) When I finally sat at the bar, I was ready to indulge! I started with a refreshingly crisp glass of Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc, which after my walk was a perfect lead-in to the tender & juicy meatball "appetizer" served in a hearty sauce I enjoyed. I put "appetizer" in quotes because it was a very generous portion. My main, equally tasty, was the rigatoni bolognese. The noodles had a perfect texture, just a notch past al dente, with flavorful veal and pork. Basil leaves on top add a nice touch. Dessert? I enjoyed the ricotta cheesecake with sweet cream bound by fluffy bread. With my Old Fashioned night cap, complete with two cherries, it was well worth the walk and great as a Last Meal (in Tampa :) read more

The food was amazing, but OUR service was appallingly deficient. I took my wife here first her birthday and only after ordering did we hear a female watress explain to the table next to us about the specials. Our waiter, a male with a blonde streak on top didn't even offer parmesan cheese to my wife's order of papardelle with lobster. The other female waiter did offer that to her table. If I was the owner, I would be pretty upset that although the chef's team made a killer dish, customers left treated as third class citizens over a pretty pricey tab. The ambiance was perfect, but I cannot in good coincience recommend this hit or miss service to anyone. But I will say, as an owner, I would ensure consistency which here was sorely missed. Our waiter was pretty absent time and time again and efforts to waive him to bring the check were missed. Again, I feel for the kitchen staff that did their job only to be pooped on by third world service. Saturday night, half the tables empy...now I know why! My friend picked this restaurant for a Friday night dinner. It has a good location right downtown with easy street parking. Nice ambiance inside. We started with some focaccia and drinks. I had the chicken parmigiana entree for dinner. The portion was massive! It was pretty good. You must love garlic to order this, lots of big chunks of fresh garlic in the sauce. Delicious Italian restaurant located in downtown Tampa. We had a reservation and we were seated right away. I was surprised it was relatively empty on a Thursday evening. Service was excellent, our server knew the menu and gave great recommendations. We began with a lovely bottle of red wine. They have a wonderful wine list as well as craft cocktails and full bar. We started with the Bresaola: fresh Burrata cheese paired with dry cured beef carpaccio drizzled with truffle oil and the Eggplant parmigiana appetizer. Both were very tasty, with good flavor. For my main meal I had the Branzino al Forno: two filets topped with white wine, garlic & herbs, served with roasted vegetables and my friend had the chicken parmigiana. I loved the flavor of the Branzino, nicely cooked. Of course we had to have dessert at an Italian restaurant. We had the chocolate temptation, definitely very rich but I do love chocolate so to me it was perfect. There's parking available on the street close by. Closed Sunday and Monday, open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday and Saturday for dinner. read more

Overall, not a bad place. 2.5* The acoustics could use some improvement as it is loud and with such a small place, it seems louder. The server was awesome!! She was attentive, friendly and knew the menu well. Unfortunately, the kitchen needs help. We ordered salads and soups with our meal but the food came out quickly, before anything else so it was rushed. The screw up in the kitchen really killed the experience and vibe. Shame on the kitchen and when paying the prices this place charges, should NEVER happen. They took the items off our check because we said to forget them at this point which was common sense. We started off with a reservation and was seated immediately. As we sat down we quickly noticed a flickering light that would be a nuisance all night. It made the ambience feel tacky. We started off with the meatballs and it was a delicious appetizer. We then ordered 2 expresso martinis which were wonderful. We were asked by the host if he could take our menu, but we elected to keep it in order to sample a few more things. He respected that, but minutes later we overheard him seating two guests and letting them know, "I'll get you guys a menu as soon as I have any," which we thought was pretty amusing. Does the restaurant not have enough menus to provide their guests? Is it because the menus are the size of the slabs of the Ten Commandments? I would imagine that if you have the table space to seat 100 people, you would at least have 100 menus. We weren't offended by him asking, but it did seem a bit tacky to see the host scrambling from table to table pleading to take menus away so he could provide them to newcomers. Not to pick on the host, either, but when he sat us he said out loud, "I'm going to give you guys this spot and as soon as these people leave," he gestured to the couple who were enjoying dessert beside us, "you guys should have a peaceful time." I appreciate the sentiment, but that seemed a bit rude to regarding your guests. They were not a bother at all, and I felt bad that they had overheard his comment. I for sure would not want to feel rushed after dropping close to $200 on a few drinks and entrees. Our main course was a beautifully crusted filet mignon (special for the day) and the penne ala vodka. They were both delicious! Then for desert, I ordered the tiramisu. I usually love Tiramisu for the delicate creaminess and coffee notes. However this tiramisu tasted sour and had an off putting smell mixed with coffee. I had to send it back. Our waitress, Milica, was amazing. She made our experience great. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, and once the lights are fixed I can see us coming back. read more

I am constantly looking for the best Italian restaurant in the Tampa area. This is no doubt about it the best Italian restaurant in probably all of Florida. The chef is from Brooklyn and I literally felt like I was in New York eating here. What an awesome guy Tony Macaroni is and what a night!!! Even got Pete to drink a Whistle Pig 10 Commandments ($$$$$). Hanging out with Dave who is also a serious foodie and a chance meet up turned into an incredible evening! This restaurant is in downtown Tampa and might be easy to miss if not looking diligently. However, it would be a shame if you did miss it! It was very easy to make a dinner reservation on their website, which I appreciated greatly. The ambiance was nice and the restaurant is decorated nicely, but in my opinion, there was just something missing (this is the only reason I gave the restaurant 4 stars rather than 5). But most importantly, the food was DELICIOUS! Honestly exceeded my expectations. Our waiter mentioned that most things are made in-house (including their pasta), and it was obvious. Our party split the burrata beef carpaccio appetizer. I am a huge burrata fan, and this did not disappoint. I ordered the bucatini pecorino e speck and it was spot on. We also split the lemon mascarpone cake for dessert. This cake, is what I really want to highlight. I love lemon desserts, and this may have been one of the best I've ever had. This is specific to our experience with Tyler, whom we were told was the manager and server for another table. Our party of six had a good time initially and very happy with the food. All of this was overshadowed by a large party of 20+ that was loud and cheering so often that we were unable to hear ourselves. This is different than a loud restaurant- it was one loud party. We asked they be addressed professionally and their server (Tyler) to talk to them about the volume and he would not. I am confident if they were even aware that their volume was bothersome for another group, they would have been thoughtful with their volume. After two requests and no action we decided to end our meal early and went to the hotel restaurant across the street. That place filled up and we could still hear each other. It's a nice enough looking place located directly across from the Hilton hotel, but earlier this week when I went there I got food poisoning very badly. I was due to testify at the courthouse the very next day and was unfortunately up most of the night in the bathroom with food poisoning. I had ordered one entrée and a side of the bruschetta which was $12 and the bruschetta was just for extremely tinySlices of bread each of them about the size of a $.50 piece and was charged $12 for that.
