    Almond croissant

If you're looking for a coffee shop that prioritizes absolute quality over mass produced giant cups, Devout Coffee in downtown Niles is the spot. It has easily become my go to neighborhood ritual. The Coffee & Eats: Their coffee is wonderfully hearty, and the variety they bring to the table is impressive. Whether I'm sticking to a classic, comforting cup of their house blend or opting for one of their rotating specials, like a perfectly dialed in Ethiopian drip or their unique orangeinfused specialties, it never disappoints. Yes, the serving sizes are a bit smaller than your average corporate chain, but the rich flavor and high quality roast make up for it entirely. And whatever you do, do not skip the pastries. Their freshly baked almond croissants are easily the best around, insanely flaky and perfectly crispy on the outside, while remaining beautifully soft and pillowy on the inside. The Atmosphere: The vibe inside is cozy, lively, and full of character, heavily anchored by a beautiful collection of thriving houseplants (though I did recently offer to water a struggling pothos back to life, fingers crossed it makes a comeback!). Once a plant Mom, there's no going back. When the weather is nice, sitting outside in the evening is absolutely beautiful and the perfect way to unwind. It's the ultimate spot to grab a treat, catch your breath, and enjoy top tier local coffee. Sharing photos of the day I took a friend and she loved it too

being devout is an underrated quality!! i am a member of four cults (matcha cult, coconut cult yogurt, informal cult for scaring away your friend's boyfriend, and performative cult) so naturally i had to go to devout coffee to see if i would convert to their cult too. on a scale of 1-5 i would be a 4 star devotee - aka shows up to pourover exorcisms but won't participate in daily chants around the grinder location - niles. a little rustic. not my style service - nice!! quick too noms 1. gibraltar - this was above average. i like the chocolate notes, probably a med-dark roast. also some natural sweetness which i like! only 1 gripe which is bubbly milk. but it's quite good and balanced 2. matcha flower latte (seasonal) - pretty! but not strong matcha flavor, mostly milk. wouldnt get again 3. hot coconut latte (seasonal) - too sweet, good coconut flavor but overpowering 4. pastries (ube cream and black sesame thing SORRY forgot the names) were delish! probably would've been better warmed though overall may come back if i need to

Great coffee, cute town, easy vibe! You use an iPad to order...it gets crowded inside, but there's a nice outdoor patio and front area where you can sit and relax.

    Old fashioned coffee

My coworker lives nearby and he recommended this coffee for me. He calls it the old fashioned and he said he always gets 2 when he visits Devout. It mimics the old fashioned cocktail but without the dry ice effect. The coffee looks dense and at the rim of the cup has some orange peels left. I gave it a sip, no sugar and boy it was rich. Rich and delicious, with a hint of orange scent, not overpowering but has presence. I like the consistent texture and flavor throughout the entire cup and at the end there was a slice of dried orange lying at the bottom of the cup, proudly announcing that it has done all the amazing job of this one cup journey. So there's my review, of this two location coffee shop's great product, a creative coffee drink w solid flavors.

Staff here were knowledgeable on the different coffees they offer. The space has indoor tables and outdoor seats. Restroom is a bit outdated. There are a variety of pastries for sale. I bought a tote and a bag of PERFILES CO-OP / PERU that has notes of nougat, fruit leather, brazil nut.

Quickly becoming my favorite coffee around. This Fremont business roasts their own beans locally and makes truly amazing cappuccinos and mochas. Situated in the iconic Niles district, you can grab a cup, walk the antique shops, check out a classic car and even enjoy a tasty brunch at skillet'z across the street before or after enjoying your dose of caffeinated bliss. They're still quite popular these days and take their time making that perfect cup for you, so be prepared to see a line out the door. I need to check out their Renegade shop concept where they also serve food that's more than just pastries. I truly hope Devout sees continued growth so I can get my fix when I'm away from my home turf.

I got an espresso. It was smooth and layered. Mild acidity complimented dark chocolate. Not too bitter or burnt. Would have been even better with more nuanced flavors or sweetness. A solid 3/5 The barista shared that they rotate their roasts so I'd visit again if in the area.

What a nice quiet part of the Bay Area with some character. I enjoyed it. Cappuccino was a little pricey, but still 5-star good. Plenty of parking about 3 min walk away. The worker said "thank you" which makes it above average in the Bay Area. So I like it!

    Short Fields and Flowers Latte
    Neelu Y.

I was impressed with Devout Coffee! I loved my Fields and Flowers Latte. I got a small iced one and asked for them to make it short because I like less milk. It was perfect! Just a bit sweet and the floral notes came through perfectly. It's really cute inside and would make for a nice place to meet a friend. They have a very simple menu which I liked a lot. It makes deciding on a drink a lot easier and it tells me that they are confident in what they offer.

    Mocha, Latte, Gibraltar

This was a very cute coffee shop, a the perfect place to chat with friends. It also looks like a nice study spot, but I just didn't see outlets! The coffees were also tasty. We ordered a mocha, latte, and Gibraltar. The mocha tasted similar is Mexican chocolate, which was a pleasant surprise. I have never heard of a Gibraltar, but ordered it since the cashier said it was similar to a flat white. However, I think it's closer in resemblance to a cortado since it is pretty small.

My local coffee shop experts! My first time visit and I'll be back! They actually had a good cold brew at 10ish am in the morning ready to go. :-) My coffee was terrific. The way a cold brew coffee should be for my tastes. I liked; especially surprisingly how available and on-the-go ready it was. The coffee barista was kind and helpful even when he had a line; I believe Tom was his name. I really dig the cozy indoor atmosphere of this spot and only wished I lived closer but this place is certainly worth more visits. I think there was an outdoor area too but I didn't have time to enjoy. There seemed to be a lot of locals like me haha. A shout out to the designer of this shop because the little details really shined and appreciated by patrons like me.

Devout Coffee in Niles is my go-to spot. I'm here at least once a week, often more, and it never gets old. It fits the charm of the neighborhood so well and always feels welcoming. The outdoor area is my favorite part -- perfect for hanging out, lingering with a coffee, or just enjoying the day. The coffee is consistently great, and the staff are genuinely friendly, which makes it easy to keep coming back. It's not just a quick stop for caffeine, it's a place I actually like spending time in. My favorite order: cappuccino & chocolate chip cookie

How is it possible that a 4.5oz drink like the Gibraltar gets served in a 4oz paper cup? It's a bit puzzling but I like their coffee though.

    Is outdoor seating available?

Yes! There is a cute outdoor space next to the cafe!

How is Covid affecting this business and surrounding business? I'm curious if they are affected with closure, or if it's relatively dead, on a Saturday, in Winter?

In my opinion, they are doing pretty well with making sure they stick to covid guidelines and regulations. They do get busy certain times of the day but the line moves very quickly. Other business from what I saw were doing the same.

Are you open on Christmas Day?

    They are closed on Christmas.

Do they serve any beverages besides coffee? Like tea?

yes!! they have teas and hot cocoa :)

Outdoor seating? I'd like to bring my dog.

Yes, they have a cute lil patio. With patio furniture. Also a very nice park across the street and a little bit down.

    Does this shop have WiFi?

    Yeah Devout has WiFi.

Every single time I'm there, they always are out of their baked goods. How early do I have to be to be able to get some (donuts, cronuts, etc)?

Your best bet is anytime before 12pm.

I was told they only have medium and dark, but the medium tastes pretty light. I asked if the beans were washed or natural, and she couldn't tell me, and wasn't even sure what that was. I should have taken that as a warning that these beans were not the same level as Devout Coffee roasters beans, which is what I usually get. However, since Airborne was cheaper than the beans I usually get from Devout Coffee, I went ahead and bought a pound of Morning Buzz. This morning, I brewed a comparison between the Airborne Roasting Morning Buzz, and my last remaining light roast beans from Devout Coffee, which at that point was several months old, whereas the Airborne beans where freshly roasted. Well, even so, the Devout light roast beans were far superior in taste than the Airborne beans. The Airborne tasted too burnt, and lacked those subtle flavors that make coffee so enjoyable. It was just a one-note band with loud speakers. My recommendation is, if you like a light roast, and sophisticated flavors in your coffee, get something else. I understand a lot of people do enjoy the burnt flavor (Starbucks, anyone?), but I wish they wouldn't have told me the medium roast tasted like a light roast: it doesn't. Note: in the end, with lots of sugar, lots of milk, and some heavy whipping cream, I was able to have a nice cup of coffee-flavored sweetness.

With some coffees a second cup will give me a stomach ache (especially since I drink my cold brews black and bitter like my soul), but I had no problems with their cold brews! I also got the vegan stonefruit scone (baked by Sweet Dragon) and while a little on the dry side (common with scones), paired extremely well with the coffee and had good flavor. Husband got a cappuccino and a strawberry mini pie and was extremely pleased with his order. The service is friendly, but some things may have been new on the day we went. They almost forgot my cold brew until we asked at the counter, as well as stating that they didn't have anything to heat up my husband's strawberry pie (which seems odd, since a little toaster oven seems like a simple fix for that), but apparently it was fantastic at room temperature anyway. Seating was absolutely full when we got there and we were lucky to snag a table as another couple left, so it seems like a popular Saturday morning spot. Several folks were working on laptops, and it seems like a kid-friendly place.
