This place was such a cute, wholesome find! The interior is completely covered with vintage decor, making it feel like you're stepping into the loving home of your own grandmother. We ordered a Yonce and a Rick Ross for out drinks and a New York State of Mind cookie with extra chocolate. The Yonce was a perfect balance of sweet but still slightly bitter from the coffee. The Rick Ross reminded me more of horchata - couldn't really taste the coffee, but it was deliciously sweet regardless. I would recommend to get the cookie without extra chocolate - even my chocolate-obsessed husband said it was too much for him. The employees here are extremely friendly and sweet. As we were selecting our cookies, they gave us recommendations on how long we should heat it up and what else would go well with that cookie at home! I really loved the feel here. The inside of the shop is quaint and eclectic- like being at grandma's house hahaha! I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, or maybe he was the manager? At any rate, he was really kind and actually took time to talk with me about my own small business! He offered advice and was genuinely great to talk with. I'm a fan of hippies brew so it was cool to know they linked up with them. It was also nice to read the owners story of stepping out on faith to start this business and others. The Neighborhood Grandma is such a hidden gem in Hayward! I learned about them from a Bay Area food reviewer. First off you're greeted with warmth as soon as you walk through the door. The company moved into a new office and I was dying for coffee since they haven't set up the break room. I found this gem and they served the same kind of coffee as a place I used to go a lot and that got me so hyped. I took my break and headed there to check it out and I'm soooo happy they are there. So we were looking for something new and came across this darling shop. Not so easy to find but super friendly service. I had the cinnamon latte called the Yee and my hubby had a regular latte called the Fa'sho because Decaf was not on the menu..bummer. Again, the drink is great but if I'm paying for a price of two 16oz lattes, then I might as well receive two 16oz (32oz total) of drinks. The baristas should really take their time with how they're charging, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE, because no cup of coffee should ever cost $21. 3 stars for incorrectly charging, overcharging and the miscommunication. If you've been to their sister company Hippie Brew, then you already know how good their drinks are. My go to is the "Rick Ross" . The gentleman that works the counter is super cool. I was craving a sweet coffee today and boy did I luck out! Tucked away in an unassuming spot is quite literally the cutest little cafe. True to its name it's decor is super sweet and cute. I loved the little "granny" sofas and fun named items on the menu. I asked the server what their recommendations were and was not disappointed. From the first sip of my iced cinnamon mocha I was pleasantly surprised. It was just the right amount of sweetness, milk, and ice. And there was even a delicious amount of chocolate drizzle which it gave it that extra oomph on this cold drizzly afternoon. These cookies are AMAZING- flavorful, soft, but with a little bit of toasty crunch. I had chocolate walnut and my husband had cookies and cream. Definitely recommend! We were also surprised and intrigued by the addition of matcha drinks with real fruit (will be getting one next visit). We love Hippie's Brew coffee and have been following the business around the East Bay. We were super excited that we could get this deliciousness again at the Eden Landing location. Congrats Neighborhood Grandma, I've come out of my 2nd Yelp retirement and you got me to write a new review in over 5 years! The concept of a coffee shop in the style of grandma's house seemed like it would do well aesthetically speaking, but I had my hesitations since it seems it's a rebrand of Hippies Brew, who's coffee is pretty much premade coffee over mixed with syrups. But I decided to try it out since I was coming off the San Mateo bridge midday and they were open. I was originally gonna just get a cookie, but decided to try a matcha with pretty low expectations. For a 16oz strawberry matcha and a chocolate chip cookie plus a 0.75 service fee, the total came out to $21.05. I think the cashier charged me for a $13 banana pudding matcha instead? Either way, I feel like the fancy matcha places these days that use ceremonial grade matcha charge less than what they charge here. Also, they added cinnamon; very overpowering so the drink turned into sweet cereal milk. As of the writing of this review, I haven't tried the cookie but I'm not expecting Levain Bakery quality. read more

I came across this place because of a TikTok video! It is kind of hard to find since it's tucked away but there are other shops around the business that I never noticed and was glad to discover. Two women were working when I went, and they both greeted me and made me feel welcome immediately. I had just come from a Christmas photo shoot with my dog, so I was hesitant to come in because I had her with me and was in pajamas lol, but they both made me feel comfortable and even asked to take my picture (see below :) ). Parking was easy at the time of day we arrived ~1pm. Staff was very nice. The chocolate chunk cookie with nuts was hot out of the oven and so very delicious. We had a yummy french toast sandwich with egg and turkey bacon and a cold brew (a bit strong for me). I will try a different drink next time, I like it sweet. Cafe and restrooms were clean. I recently discovered Grandma Coffee Shop, and it's honestly one of the best neighborhood spots I've come across. The atmosphere is full of good energy and genuinely kind people who make you feel right at home. I mean that! We even celebrated my son's 10th birthday here, and they went above and beyond for us. They made 50 mini pancakes for him and his friends along with fun strawberry and chocolate drinks that the kids absolutely loved. For the adults, we enjoyed a Mexican hot link sandwich and delicious turkey, bacon, and chorizo breakfast sandwiches. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. When it comes to their operating hours it's honestly best to call first to see if they're open. I tried going twice but the store was closed when the hours said otherwise until the third time they were open. I got a drink and cookie and beware if you don't like sweet stuff then I wouldn't recommend. I personally have a sweet tooth but even attempting to finish both was a bit much for me. The guy taking the order was really nice and chill, even offering an extra free drink or cookie. The seating and decorations make it feel very welcoming and there's even a few board games to play. We were looking for a coffee spot and decided to try Neighborhood Grandma based on reviews. We walked in and the aroma of various cleaning solutions was in the air which wasn't good. The self ordering kiosks were out of order. The menu is attached in my review. Fairly simple food and drinks. Friend ordered the bag muffin and got muffin egg sausage sandwich. It looked like they egg was just reheated and for the sandwich is was pretty expensive $14 for a sub par sandwich that resembled an egg McMuffin. Then I ordered an Expresso, she replies 16 or 20? I said Expresso again and she replies 16 or 20, we ended up with 20oz of black coffee. Didn't taste like Expresso or look like one. The food is bit overpriced and ok. Coffee was disappointing unfortunately. The ambiance do resemble grandmas living room and playing smurfs cartoon on replay is a bit much. We drove from downtown to give them a shot and now we know. Please revisit your menu as when we ordered one item they would substitute another item. You should have stock of item listed on your menu which consisted only two hot items. Came here for the Hippies Brew coffee, but ended-up going with a cold brew and the most decadent chocolate chip sea salt cookie. While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I saw countless numbers of people going in and out of the doors. Upon entering, I was assisted by the friendliest gentleman who walked me through ordering at the self service kiosk (he didn't have to help me, but going that extra mile made me feel welcomed). My order was out after my quick visit to the whimsical bathroom with its Ben Franklin blowing bubblegum wallpaper, sage green walls, and gold elements. I loved everything about this place; so many design elements that force you to look around and pay attention. We sat in the living room nook by the digital fireplace and were able to catch up while they played the best curated playlist of 90's freestyle. The cookie was huge, and I ended-up taking the rest home. It took 3 days to devour. lol At some point after I had already left, I realized I left my jacket. I called in to see if they could put it aside for me, but the number linked to Neighborhood Grandma takes you to a satellite location and I hadn't heard back from them. Nevertheless, I came in a couple days later and was helped by the same gentleman who was there on Friday. I was so happy they had my jacket; it was a gift from a close friend.
