Neighborhood Grandma feels like the kind of place that's meant to be a true local staple. The atmosphere is warm, casual, and welcoming -- more like dining in someone's cozy home than a typical restaurant. Service is easily the highlight. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful without feeling overbearing. Price-wise, it's very reasonable for the Bay Area. Portions are solid and the overall value makes it a great spot when you want a satisfying meal. Ambiance leans into that grandmas house vibe: comfortable, homey, and perfect for catching up with friends. Overall, Neighborhood Grandma does a great job delivering good service and a welcoming atmosphere. It's a dependable neighborhood spot that's easy to come back to.

The Neighborhood Grandma is such a hidden gem in Hayward! I learned about them from a Bay Area food reviewer. First off you're greeted with warmth as soon as you walk through the door. Everyone was so kind and sweet. I ordered the banana pudding, the muffin breakfast sandwich, and an iced caramel mocha latte. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! The banana pudding is truly some of the best I've ever had. The breakfast sandwich hits the spot!! And the latte lawdddd tastes like a delicious milkshake. Definitely check them out and support this local small business!! - Mrs California Black United States 2026

The company moved into a new office and I was dying for coffee since they haven't set up the break room. I found this gem and they served the same kind of coffee as a place I used to go a lot and that got me so hyped. I took my break and headed there to check it out and I'm soooo happy they are there. The coffee tasted just as great and I also ordered the cookie they had. They noted they also serve off menu items like Mexican street dogs?! I will have to got to "work" more as an excuse to come here. Highly recommend the place!

Order: 2 - 24 oz Iced Matcha Nanas Bananas 2 - Hella Toasts Total: $62.00 The Matcha Nanas Bananas is beyond amazing! I was worried it was going to be super sweet, but it wasn't at all. It had the perfect balance, and I enjoyed every sip. My friend loved it too. Extremely delicious -- I'll definitely be going back to try more drinks. The Hella Toast is pretty fire! It's served on an English muffin with your choice of meat, egg, and cheese. Simple, filling, and so good. The service was GREAT! Imelda was hella dope and provided amazing customer service from the moment we walked in until we left. She truly made the experience even better. She knows exactly how to treat customers -- very friendly, welcoming, and fun to talk to. This kind of service is why I love coming back to places. The ambiance is so cute! It gives cozy grandma's living room vibes. I love the details and aesthetics they put into this place. The interior decor is beautifully done. Even though this spot is tucked away, it's a MUST-visit. There are other food options in the plaza and plenty of parking. It's easy to find, even though there's no sign on the building. Overall, the food, customer service, and ambiance were outstanding. I will definitely be back -- I 100% recommend this place!

I was curious about this new cafe that had huge cookies that looked so good, as well as Benjamin Franklin's restroom walls. That itself already piqued my interest. Service: Very friendly and homey. There's an actual grandma there who welcomes you in and tries to get to know you. They're still getting into the groove with ordering, so be patient with them. Ambiance: the decor definitely reminds me of a stereotypical grandma with fruit wall patterns, a fireplace with old-timey chairs, and multiple quirky decor. The storefront doesn't have a sign yet, so it can be tricky to find. Nutty chip baby $8 (5/5): Chocolate chip walnut cookie topped with chocolate spread. This didn't even last 5 minutes after being warmed up. THIS WAS REALLY GOOD. It's huge, not too sweet, and the texture is gooey and a bit cakey. I don't often demolish cookies, but I can with this. YEE $8 (3.5/5): My friend got this less sweet and felt that the coffee flavor was not strong. Thoroughly enjoyed the cookie butter and drink overall, as I heard I'd definitely come back again for the cookies. I heard their banana pudding is good that it's sold out. Definitely a unique atmosphere and concept that I don't see often. Refreshing from the modern minimal type cafes.

Support your local businesses because this coffee shop is truly something special. The coffee is absolutely delicious, and the bay muffin was incredible! They also offer cookies, treats, and the banana pudding had my mouth watering. The staff were so kind and helpful--you can't help but feel like you've known them forever. I'll definitely be back to try more of their coffees. Such a cute concept and an overall great experience!

So we were looking for something new and came across this darling shop. Not so easy to find but super friendly service. I had the cinnamon latte called the Yee and my hubby had a regular latte called the Fa'sho because Decaf was not on the menu..bummer. We also ordered the Morning Heat Bagel, the IMISSU and the Chocolate Daddy. The food is hot and since we were the only ones service was quick. We were given samples of the Nanas Bananas aka Banana Pudding. IT WAS ALL FABULOUS AND TASTY!! This shop is cute and cozy as we sat by the fireplace like in your grandma's house. This little hidden gem is amazing.

This coffee shop has a really unique concept- it feels like you've stepped into your grandma's neighbor's living room. The décor and vibe are cozy, nostalgic, and definitely different from your typical café, which I appreciated. However, the experience itself was a bit disappointing. The kiosk wasn't working, and when I walked in I had to say hello to get the staff's attention. There were also no prices listed on the menu, which made ordering feel unclear. On top of that, they only accepted cash, Cash App, or Zelle -- no card payments, which was pretty odd and inconvenient. I ordered the banana pudding matcha and the coconut cloud, and the total came out to $23.50, which felt very steep, especially without transparent pricing. The banana pudding drink was good, but the matcha quality wasn't great, and the coconut drink was very sweet. Milk options were limited to whole milk or oat milk. Overall, the atmosphere is cool but the pricing transparency, payment options, and drink quality didn't quite match the cost.

Neighborhood Grandma opened recently where Antiqua Coffee shop once was . Basic infrastructure same. Decor has changed. Seating inside and outside. N.G. Is a franchisee of Hippie's Brew, not the original owners. The present N.G. menu is Hippies Brews sourced. additions in the future may not be. No signs seen states that kiosk is used for ordering. Didn't see menu or pricing either. Single person on duty was buzy. Returned later to order with his help. Offerings: Mocha based drinks, Brown suga based drinks, NY inspired cookies, pastries, breakfast.. Sips: baby jug Rick Ross coffee (20) pre-mixed. -tastes slightly sweet, latte based, cinnamon hints. *(Ai Overview): cold brew coffee with whole milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon. Sugar toppings. Yin Yang cookie (8) -thick cookie with many layers & different textures, has white & chocolate intermixed sections. The dark section from dark chocolate & white section from white chocolate? Best eaten slowly to savor. -some dark Oreo type cookie sections in cookie. Robbie Thickee cookie (8) -also thick brown cookie, slightly sweet. Has almond & walnut pieces on top & within. Also embedded were raisins, the source of sweetness. 4.5 semi-worthy:YMMV Quality: very good, unique artisan ingredients. Quantity: Ok would skip cookies next time-too sweet.

5 stars for customer service from the owner or possibly manager; and coffee is 4 stars, However... I initially ordered a 16oz 'Nanas Bananas' ($13) then I saw its matcha only, so I changed my mind to a 16oz 'Golden Caramel Comfort' ($8) coffee. I ended up paying $21 for one 16oz . When I got my order the barista gave me the 16oz of Nanas Bananas "mixed" with Golden Caramel Comfort. Again, the drink is great but if I'm paying for a price of two 16oz lattes, then I might as well receive two 16oz (32oz total) of drinks. The baristas should really take their time with how they're charging, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE, because no cup of coffee should ever cost $21. 3 stars for incorrectly charging, overcharging and the miscommunication. Ill pay $21 for 2 drinks but not for 1. That's literally the cost of a cocktail in Vegas. I hate bringing down reviews for local-mom and pop-businesses. But the barista wasn't hearing me correctly and I don't understand mixing the 2 types of drinks in 1 cup for a price And size of 2.

Was in the area doing a field visit and needed an ice caffeine beverage. Good old yelp directed me here. As you walk in, it took me to granny's house. Love the wallpaper and the decor. When I came in, Imelda greeted me and made me feel like family. I scanned the menu and with her help, made the selection. I ordered the 16oz and it was a bit pricey at $8.80 but I guess renting a space can be costly.

This cozy small business deserves some love. The breakfast muffin was surprisingly good, light, and the sriracha mayo sauce was the perfect complement. The ambiance is exactly what a neighborhood coffee shop should be. Nice vintage furniture and great natural light. Whether you're meeting a friend or working solo, you'll find your spot. The cinnamon latte (Yee) was okay - I wish it could've been a bit hotter and a little less sweet. I'll make sure to ask for these adjustments next time! The staff were also friendly and interactive. I enjoyed it. Bottom line: It's the kind of place that makes a neighborhood feel like home. Highly recommend.

I was craving a sweet coffee today and boy did I luck out! Tucked away in an unassuming spot is quite literally the cutest little cafe. True to its name it's decor is super sweet and cute. I loved the little "granny" sofas and fun named items on the menu. I asked the server what their recommendations were and was not disappointed. From the first sip of my iced cinnamon mocha I was pleasantly surprised. It was just the right amount of sweetness, milk, and ice. And there was even a delicious amount of chocolate drizzle which it gave it that extra oomph on this cold drizzly afternoon. But what most impressed me was their banana pudding omggg I fell in love from bite one. I didn't want to finish the pudding. I almost shamefully licked the container but my face wouldn't fit LOL definitely would recommend to those who love sweet treats! This place is a super fun spot to check out! I would definitely try it out if you're within the area.

I finally found some time to visit with my cousin on a quiet Friday early afternoon. We were greeted to a beautiful, clean, and well organized store by the kind and polite owner, Areej. The vibe of the store very much so echoed a candy store you'd find in a shopping mall, except all the sweet treats are handmade and imported from countries such as Palestine and Turkey. Areej was very kind and welcoming and walked us through each of the different sweet treats, such as truffles and Turkish delights. There are also various mixed roasted nuts options with unique seasonings, and even Dubai chocolate strawberry cups! Areej was kind and generous, providing ample samples of the Turkish delights in flavors like Oreo, Dubai chocolate, birthday cake, and even sesame chocolate! My cousin also really likes their mixed party nuts that had a great spicy kick to it from a special blend of imported spices. Because of Areej's hospitality and generosity, as well as the prime quality of the chocolate truffles, mixed toasted nuts, and Turkish delights we were able to sample, I definitely did not hesitate to take home some delectable goodies (see photos). There also were skincare products made in Palestine, and I bought this homemade rose scented olive oil soap that I'll be gifting to my friend for her birthday :) Thank you so much, Areej, for being so welcoming! We will definitely recommend to others and come back! PS: It was mentioned that in the past, many people would walk in, sample large amounts of the shop's goodies, and then rudely leave the store without buying anything. Honestly, that's so distasteful! We need to support small businesses as much as possible, and even buying as much as one tiny chocolate truffle helps sustain businesses like The Old City Roastery. Food was fantastic -- straight to the point and with boldness from the Latin influence. The ambiance aims for a higher end dining experience, and there is a full bar with additional seating. Must be a local favorite for Happy Hour and dinner. Jonathan was our server -- shout out to him for his efficiency, attentiveness, and professionalism. He responded at every interaction with enthusiasm and a smile. Would definitely return.

Good BRUNCH Special place, for Special Friends. Pricy , yes…read more!! But, as I have noticed in other reviews, the FOOD is always 'on-point'. Drinks are always on point. When a place is consistently, " CONSISTENT " ! Never been INSIDE! We will have to try that, the next time ... lololol But, when you have/and do most of your time, in the CITY, you have an appreciation for good Hayward, 'Brunch weather. ' In addition, impeccable service! Sometimes ... a lost art, at expensive restaurants. Ambience ... you are dining outside and your menu is not being blown away by the wind ... lol But, it is the perfect time of the day, out there. But We will make it a point to go inside. My friend has been inside each time because she has been to their restrooms. Not I. Handicap accessible Parking Good drinks, appetizers. Bring your special friends, family. But, not cheap. lol

The staffs were so friendly and sweet. Wonderful service and these days it's far between. I've had their crab croquette - 2.5/5 - it's ok, but not my style. Croquette hot dog 4/5. I'm a sucker for hot dog buns. Garlic baguette 4/5. Surprisingly it's sweet, so that threw me off. Can get hard after a day or so. Would come back to try more things and just chill there.

When I went in, there was a graduation cake I wanted, but I was told they couldn't sell it because they were out of cake boxes. A huge shoutout to Erin, Ankit, and the rest of the team for going above and beyond to make it happen. The cake was still $79.99, but when you have no other options and people genuinely care to help, it is completely worth it. They wrote a graduation congratulatory message on the cake, secured it carefully with tape, found a large box to safely transport it, and even helped carry it out to my car. Most importantly, the cake was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you so much to Erin, Ankit, and the entire team for taking the extra time and effort to make this happen. I truly appreciated your kindness and willingness to help, even without the proper cake box available.

Kids loved it Large mango bingsoo - mango slices were plentiful. This was the first to go when everyone dug in. Large chocolate bingsoo - this was ok, I would have liked to see a little more chocolate incorporated into the dish. Large caramel bingsoo - loved the crunch that came with the cereal pieces. Large original red bean bingsoo - classic combo if you wanted something a little more simple Large injeolmi bingsoo. Large matcha red bean bingsoo - another classic combo. The matcha wasn't overpowering and the slight bitterness balanced out the sweet in the dish. Mango sago - classic summertime fave. The fresh mango and sago was a hit with the toddlers and not too sweet. I ordered everything for pick up via door dash. It was ready a lot sooner than expected too. Since it was such a large pick up order, I told the gentleman at the register I'd make a couple trips. He actually followed behind me to my car to help me load everything up. That was so nice!
