When my check engine light came on last week, I took it in to get it checked out and it was gonna take a couple of days for them to get to it because they have a lot of people out with the flu... I have a certified used car, and that covers anything with the powertrain and as it turned out, the problem was powertrain related and it's completely covered and I didn't even have to pay for the scan to find out what was wrong! I couldn't be more pleased! When I was in there, I mentioned that when I picked up my car, I didn't notice it. It only had one floor at in the front seat, and asked if they might possibly have a spare one that I could get from them... The service advisor Joe said he would check into it with his sales manager to see what they could do to help me with that all I expected was to get perhaps a spare floor mat that they had back in the service department somewhere and that was all I wanted... Little did I know that they actually ordered me two new floor mats of the WeatherTech type that we specially made for my jeep at no charge! I was so pleased and surprised and that is the normal way they treat you at the dealership... I tried to make an appointment for a recall earlier this week - could not get past the AI appointment setter. Finally made an appointment, but asked the AI person to confirm that it's for a recall. AI appointment setter 'did not understand.' I asked for a real person, was sent to a queue, no one is available, we'll do a call back. No call back. I chatted into the business a couple of days ago. We will call you. No call. Today I tried to email the service email address. Email bounced - they do not accept emails outside their organization. It's the publicly listed email address.... A Dismal Experience with Dewey Dodge I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience with Dewey Dodge was so frustrating and unprofessional that I feel obligated to warn others. This situation could have been avoided entirely with basic communication, transparency, and accountability. My vehicle was at Dewey Dodge for 13 days. I originally brought it in for an oil change and to investigate a possible oil leak. Eight months earlier, Dewey Dodge had already completed approximately $5,000 worth of major engine-related repairs on this same vehicle. Over the course of nearly two weeks, I called the dealership at least 14 times according to my phone log. Nearly every conversation ended with: * "Tom will call you tomorrow." * "I'll call you later today." * "We're waiting on the tech." No one ever called me back. By day 5, I was told the oil change had been completed, but they were still waiting for a technician to evaluate the leak. By day 7, I was told the exact same thing. My husband called separately and was also told the oil change had already been completed. Then on day 9, a service representative told me "something weird was going on" with my vehicle. She informed me that: * the oil change had actually NOT been completed, * nothing had been done with the vehicle yet, * but repairs would cost approximately $800-$900. At that point, I was completely confused. I had still not been told what was actually wrong with the vehicle, yet somehow I was already being quoted nearly $1,000 in repairs. I reminded them that Dewey Dodge themselves had replaced major related components only 8 months earlier. On day 12, after avoiding or blowing me off for most of the prior week, my assigned service representative Tom suddenly knew exactly what was wrong: the head gaskets and valve covers needed to be redone. Shortly afterward, another service representative informed me those exact parts and repairs were still covered under a two-year warranty -- meaning I should never have been quoted the $800-$900 repair bill in the first place. At that point, I asked to speak with management because I genuinely did not understand: * why I had been given conflicting information for nearly two weeks, * why I had been quoted an incorrect invoice amount, * why no one could clearly explain the actual issue, * and why no one had reviewed the repair history before discussing charges with me. Finally, on day 13, I received the first clear explanation of the actual problem: a corner of the valve cover had apparently rolled during installation, affecting the seal and likely causing the leak. They redid the repair and tested the system. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that the mechanical mistake itself is not the part I'm most upset about. Mistakes happen. What destroyed my trust was the customer service: * repeated failures to communicate, * no returned phone calls, * conflicting stories, * vague and evasive explanations, * being continually told portions of the work were completed when in fact, they were not started * repeated empty promises that the work would be completed the following day * quoting me for repairs that were actually under warranty, * and making me feel like I would simply forget the dealership had already performed this work less than a year ago. To top it off, after all of this, they still charged me for the oil change -- despite previously telling me multiple contradictory stories about whether it had even been completed. I have been a loyal customer of Dewey Dodge, purchasing two brand new vehicles from them over the last few years. In February 2025, I bought my latest truck, and within the first month--with only 1,500 miles on the odometer--I discovered a manufacturing defect in the seat padding. There is a void in the seat cushion causing visible rippling, making the seat both unsightly and clearly defective for a vehicle I just purchased. Rather than standing behind their product, Dewey Dodge's service department has been dismissive and unhelpful at every turn. While they claim to have filed warranty claims with the manufacturer, they flat-out refuse to connect me with a local warranty representative so I can resolve this directly. To add insult to injury, the manufacturer has deemed this "normal wear and tear"--on a truck with 1,500 miles. My previous vehicle had over 150,000 miles and didn't exhibit this level of seat damage. After repeated requests, the service manager finally inspected the seat but offered absolutely no resolution. When I escalated to the general manager, their solution was to trade in my brand new truck for a different vehicle--essentially asking me to take a financial loss on a defective product they sold me. I've been brushed off repeatedly and treated as though my legitimate concern about a brand new vehicle doesn't matter. This is clearly a manufacturing defect appearing at 1,500 miles, yet I'm being stonewalled instead of supported. The dealership's "solution" is for me to absorb the depreciation hit rather than them fixing or replacing what they sold me defective. For a major purchase like this, I expected at least basic customer service and advocacy from my dealership--especially as a repeat customer who has given them my business twice. Instead, Dewey Dodge has made it abundantly clear that customer loyalty means nothing, and once the sale is complete, you're on your own. They won't advocate for you, they won't connect you with the resources needed to resolve issues, and their idea of customer service is shifting the financial burden back onto you. I strongly advise anyone considering a purchase from Dewey Dodge to think twice. The lack of after-sale support is shocking, and I deeply regret doing business here. We had a work van get towed in over a month ago. After numerous phone messages left, and a couple of visits to the Service desk by me, we still have no idea if they have even looked at it. A Ram Pro Master. Of course, if you have driven through their lot recently, you have seen the sea of Pro Masters that are waiting for service. I knew the fine folks at Dewey Ford back when it was owned locally. This is not how they operated. And of course, the other major CDJR dealer in the metro is owned by the same Auto group out of Utah. Sure hope they get their crap together soon. Can't run a successful business this way and expect people to take you seriously. With the service department I purchased a vehicle from Dewey about a month ago and need a small part replaced. I waiting over 3 hours for them just to let me know they just started working on my car, keep in mind I was the only one there waiting with a 2 year old toddler who hasn't eaten anything. I was very frustrated with them to why they tell me over the phone it should only take half hour to Finish to over 3 hours just to start. I usually get a ride or bring my bike when I get service done here. Today I didn't have the option as it is raining and cold so walking home or really anywhere is not an option. I requested a shuttle when I scheduled my service and I asked about it when I arrived. I was told the shuttle was out on a 'run' and when he got back he'd check the waiting room. It's been almost an hour and no shuttle and my car is still not serviced. So I am just a little disappointed that there seems to be little regard or respect for my time. Dealership was good to buy from and work with, but the vehicle check they "ran" wasn't worth the paper it was on. I drove out with no gas (didn't realize it until I was almost on the interstate) and lower air in the tires (~30 psi). I've never had a dealership that didn't top those up. Within a couple months I had the bearing in my coolant pump fail. It had been making noise from the get go, and I just couldn't figure out which it was until it became much worse. I wouldn't mind, but had paid a $2,000 premium over a neighboring dealer that didn't have the same garage capabilities. That premium was absolutely worthless, and I wish I had gone for the smaller dealership. The dealership we bought my wife's vehicle at offered a 3 month warranty. Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced - Avoid Dewey Dodge I've had two terrible service experiences at Dewey Dodge in Ankeny with my Chrysler Pacifica, and I'll never return. First time, they kept my car for nearly a week for warranty work. I received minimal updates, was offered no loaner, and days after pickup, the car died from a bad battery. These batteries were under two years old. I was told they'd both be replaced under warranty--that wasn't clear or followed up. More recently, I brought the car in on a Tuesday, promised it by Friday, and didn't get it back until the next Wednesday after $4,300 in repairs. Again, no loaner, poor communication. The next day, a warning light appeared. I brought it back, and after two more days, they said the batteries were fine. Three days later, the car died in traffic. I returned again, and now they said both batteries were bad--$900 to replace. When I reminded them of the 2023 warranty replacement, they changed their answer: first they were covered, then they weren't. I specifically asked to speak with a manager. No one ever spoke to me face to face. Everything went through the service rep. Both times my car stayed with them for extended service, both batteries failed within weeks. That's a pattern, not a coincidence. And both times, I was left chasing updates and explanations. This level of confusion, contradiction, and complete lack of accountability is unacceptable. I was never offered a loaner, never met with a manager, and never felt like a valued customer. This was, without exaggeration, the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We've bought two vehicles here over the past few years. A 2015 Jeep Patriot and 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Had to replace CVT transmission on Patriot. That transmission has had serious problems. Luckily I had purchased a warranty. Then the engine blew and we were in the market for a new vehicle. Ended up buying the Jeep Cherokee at Dewey. Paid cash. Per our salesperson the vehicle had multiple quality checks and the vehicle was road ready. The car was for our son who lives in Denver area so I drove the car back to Colorado. Shortly after getting on the road the "Check Shifter" warning light came on. I called our salesperson and voiced my concerns about the warning light and overall transmission issues. i asked why the light came so soon. Didn't they test the vehicle systems? He said they would have had to duplicate the conditions to see why the light was on. The dealer and my salesperson had no clue. Upon getting to Denver we had to find a Dodge/Jeep dealer to fix the issue. Oddly enough they were able to determine the issue and ordered a replacement part for the shifter. Why couldn't or why didn't Dewey do that before we bought the car? In addition, when my son was going to rotate tires per the recommended mileage, Discount Tire said the tires were not installed correctly. The word "Inside" was on the outside part of the vehicle. Many articles told me "Inside" is always on the side of the tire facing the inside of the vehicle. Or else tire tread could be affected and also a possible reduction in traction My son had to pay $94 to fix the rotation issue. I notified my salesperson and he said there was nothing wrong. They had no plans to reimburse my son for an expense they caused. This dealership is more concerned about sales than they are about service. As a repeat customer I would have thought they would find a way to fix these issues as opposed to turning a blind eye and a deaf ear and putting the burden on my son and me. I gotta add one more item: After 57 reviews the overall rating is 1.7. Maybe I'm not the only one who's not too happy with this business. read more

I'm torn. They were helpful, but charged me through the roof. I lost my lock tool for my lug nuts. They charged $67 for 4 regular lug nuts ($16 each) and comp'd the labor to use the master tool and switch out the lug nuts. Lug nuts are about 20% (or less) of that price on Amazon. So I rate a 3 out 5. Helpful, but way more costly than is reasonable, I think. read more

I'll never set foot in this place again. Went in at 830 am with an online appointment. I was told it would be around two hours. So, I decided to stay around. I left at around 420 pm. Throughout the day I was told "Just about another hour left" They charged me $662.99 for a backup camera that cost $48.99 to $100.00 online. This was just the camera, not the in-dash monitor. I could have had the monitor replaced with an In-dash GPS one for cheaper. To top it off after spending 7 hours and $1400.00 All I asked for was a duck I was told I would have to purchase it. REALLY. I've bought two vehicles at this location and two at their other location. As I was standing there several salesmen talked about the dent and how they had noticed it earlier. This truck was detailed and they didn't notice it???? Annoyed I asked for a general manager who was aloof and insincere. Provided an excuse that they cannot see all the dents with over 600 cars on the lot. What?????!!!! My husband and I bought a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Plus Minivan brand new from a local Chrysler Dealership. On July 5, 2024, our Pacifica broke down and was towed to the dealership. It was determined that the issues were electrical, which we've been advised are very hard to identify the cause. The van starts cycling through every sensor warning you could imagine (160+ error codes). This causes the van to come to a hault while driving where it is no longer drivable. This happens within a minute, with no control, making this a HUGE safety issue while on the road. The van has been at a local Chrysler dealership (where we bought it) for 4+ months at this point. We've gotten the vehicle back 4x at this point, most recently on Thursday, October 31. It was told to us each time that the van was fixed. Within 24 hours of receiving it back each time, the van had replicated the same exact issues!! The most recent time, two different faulty harnesses were replaced. This yet again, did not fix the issue. The dealership has been working with Chrysler, direct, on trying to determine what was wrong with the van and working with Chrysler's engineers and bringing in field experts from around the state. The dealership is at a loss for how to fix the van and have exhausted all options, but advise they can't do anything further on their end outside of continuing to try and diagnose what the issue is. We've had an open case with a case manager at Chrysler as well. The Chrysler case manager has been the LEAST helpful. When we first called to open a case, we never received a call back for 2 weeks and were told we'd have outreach within 24 hours. When we followed up, we were told our case manager was no longer with the company and it wasn't reassigned and got lost in the shuffle. Most recently after our case was closed and they thought the van was fixed, I called to have the case reopened and I've called every single day outside of two (weekend) at least once, if not twice for the last 5 days and have asked to speak to my case manager. Each time I'm told the CM is unavailable and will call me back. I have not received ANY call backs in 5 days and continue to call in each day and have escalated this to the CM's supervisor and then the supervisor's manager, and STILL have NOT gotten a call back. I've been on hold for 30+ minutes each time I've called. Tonight, I was on hold for 2 hours and STILL never got through. Every time I get through to talk to someone, it's not my CM so they are not able to help me, which is a waste of time. The service is absolutely HORRENDOUS!! I'm getting no where, and nobody seems to care that we haven't had our vehicle in 4+ months, with no resolution and answers (back to square one) and are doing NOTHING to make it right with us. We bought our vehicle brand new and have no faith or trust in the Chrysler product and would NEVER recommend a Chrysler vehicle to anyone. The vehicle is dangerous and the service and backing of what they do for their customers is awful. BEWARE!! read more

Salesman that I dealt with a week ago, Bradley, was great. Easily 10/10 for him helping us. He was funny and very relatable to us which made the whole start to finish process that more wonderful. However a few days later I noticed my gas was getting eaten up and I wasn't sure if there was a problem or if it was just because of the new engine. I called Dewey and spoke with Greg who said that he would have the service department look at it FIRST THING Monday morning, promising they wouldn't have my car all day. This morning I dropped my car off at 7:30 (first thing like he told me to do) and it is now 12:10 on Monday and I have had to call for an update on my car... I don't appreciate the lying. I'm thankful that the service department is handling my car and that the service guy who is communicating with me is trying his best to help me get through this process. My wife bought a car from dewey in ankeny 2 weeks ago. It has had a defective seatbelt and faulty key since day one of purchase and they have known about it. They scheduled a day to drop it off. We dropped it off for them to fix it and now they are trying to charge us an additional 3000 dollars on top of the 26000 for vehicle.  There was no buyers guide visible anywhere on vehicle or in. Called the service department today and had a miserable experience. The person answering the phone was more focused on 'pulling my information up' in the system than listening to my concern. I told her my information will not pull up because I've never been a customer. After a 5 minute call, most of it being on hold, I hung up. Dodge has a factory recall for a part on my car but we couldn't ever get to that part of the conversation. I really dislike dealerships. Went in "just to look" at some mini-vans for our family, and came out buying one. We weren't intending to buy, but our salesman, CJ, really did a great job helping us out. When we test-drove, we wanted to move our daughter's car seat into the van, and CJ helped me install it. And when we traded in our old car, he was patient to let us move our stuff over. Again, we weren't intending to buy, so we didn't prepare beforehand. The financing guy was a little too pushy. He got rather aggressive when we weren't interested in the full "warranty package" he offered (as it would add a lot more to our monthly payment). He did help us out by removing certain items that were unnecessary, but he could tone down the aggressiveness a bit. Maybe it was just the day we were there, but they moved at a snail's pace on getting things done. From the time we pulled in to the time we left with our van, it was 4.5 hours. They also use some classic sales tactics ("You wouldn't believe how many hits this car is getting online!") to get you to move quickly. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but it's certainly something to beware of as you look. All in all, though, we are more than satisfied with our purchase and appreciated the effort CJ and the others did. read more

So about two months ago, my truck broke down. It more than broke down. It totally died while I was hauling a horse, actually. No warning, no engine light, no nothing. Just died, leaving me without power steering or brakes trying to control my truck and trailer and not die. Pulled it over, tried to start it again, nothing. Tried one more time...it starts like nothing is wrong. Took me 3 hours to get home. I figure I'll take it to Dewey since they are the Dodge "experts" and likely have the most advanced testing and repair equipment. This truck is an 03, and has a lot of miles, but I own it and it does what it's supposed to do for me. I drop it off, and I explain to them that this issue doesn't happen unless you're going above 45 or so mph. They run the codes , no code (which I told them already). So the service advisor tells me they will take a look and get back to me later that day. I ask for an update the next day... the response is that they are going to test drive it to get it to replicate the issue. So finally, several days later, I ask for an update. They have finally gotten it to die, so they are working on an estimate. They also have to ask me for all of my contact information again, because they have my truck registered under someone named Megan with totally different information. Awesome. My name is not Megan. Who TF is Megan!? The service advisor calls with the estimate. He gives me a total and a list of parts, and I'm driving, so I ask him to email it to me so I can review it when I get home. He emails me two sheets, one with a total and the other with some random numbers. I assume the total is the number next to TOTAL, which I feel is pretty reasonable, and I ask if that includes labor. He verifies that it does, minus only tax. Great, that's in my budget so let's get this thing fixed. I ask for another update a week later. The truck now has a new throttle body, TIPM, fuel pump, and solenoids. IT'S STILL DYING. So now, they think that maybe they should replace the spark plugs for $700. Um, what?? No. First of all... why would you not check the spark plugs FIRST? Isn't that the simplest and least costly part to eliminate?? I mean, I know I'm a girl, but COME ON. Second, that wasn't part of the estimate, at all. Third, SPARK PLUGS ARE LIKE $10 EACH. I lose my sh*t, tell them I'm coming to get my truck, and write a very strongly worded email to the GM at Dewey. Suddenly, my spark plugs are being "thrown in" to my estimate for "free". Okay guys. You've had my truck for OVER A MONTH. You've dumped a couple grand in parts into it and it's STILL NOT RUNNING. Are you just screwing me over because it's an older truck and you failed to convince me to buy a newer truck from you?? Or is it because I'm a girl and you think I am not smart enough to check on parts costs and compare?? Oh, not to mention, now instead of the $1807 that I THOUGHT I was agreeing to on the estimate, it's actually over 3 GRAND?? And then you offer to finance the repairs for me. Hahahahahahah NO. FINALLY....FINALLY after a month, and new spark plugs, my truck is running right. I pay and pick the truck up. I get about ¾ the way home and I notice that the entire temp control panel PUSHES INTO THE DASH. I turn directly around. So I sit in a simmering rage in the waiting room for AN HOUR while they epoxy this panel. I decide it's best not to mention to them the half tank of fuel they used in the truck while it was there, nor the whining noise coming from the rear end that wasn't there before, because I don't like jail. I decide that they have 5 minutes before I start yelling, and I walk back onto the service floor. No one will look at me. Finally the service advisor stammers that the tech is bringing it back out right now. Finally the truck appears with a freshly epoxied panel that I can't use for 24 hours. Perfect. TL;DR: Don't take your service business to Dewey Dodge. Especially if you have an older car or truck and/or if you are a woman. They will screw you over so hard and they will send your sh*t home more broken than it arrived. read more

Will preface this review by saying "I hate buying cars!!!" With that out of the way I can say that our salesman Eric, was excellent! Not pushy, arrogant, or any of the cars sales people traits that exist in our minds or memories. A very nice young man. Although it took a long time from start to finish, the process was handled correctly and professionally. No hesitation to recommend these guys for future purchases or to my friends. Will see how things go with the servicing etc give the not so nice comments written here on Yelp. I hope we will prove these wrong. Very happy with the sale and the transaction. read more

Was at Dewey Jeep to purchase some accessories for a Jeep as a Christmas gift. I was greeted at the door by a salesperson and told him my reason coming to the dealership, which he escorted me to the Parts Department. He rang the bell and said someone should be out to help me, and if not just ring the bell again. I rang the bell several more times and nobody came to the counter. The whole time the girl sitting at the service counter right next to the parts counter noticed I was there, but could not take time from her cell phone to ask if I had been helped or page someone. I was also passed numerous times by the same employees going in and out of a door next to the parts counter, and not one asked if I had been helped. I have never experienced such poor service at a dealership and just turned around and walked out. I will never step foot at their any of Dewey's dealerships again, and will have a hard time trusting Stew Hansen since they are both owned by the same corporation. I ended up buying what I wanted online and probably saved money, even though I try to buy local as much as possible. They should get zero stars!! read more

I do not recommend Dewey Dodge ! They have not been honest with the repairs done to my van. I dropped off the van on October 18th and it's still in their shop on November 12th. It needed one cylinder head pulled and repaired at the machine shop. So far so good, it was promised to be done back on November 3rd. I drove to their facility and no one was working on it! The cylinder head was installed 9 days ago and that's it, no more work has been completed. read more

Warning -- do not get your vehicle serviced at Dodge Dewey in Ankeny. We have their 27-point inspection report that shows the battery is "Good". However, when we went to pick up our vehicle, it was dead -- so dead it wouldn't turnover. Of course, they had to replace the battery so we could even leave the dealership. It took them 3-1/2 hours, because bolts were bad, terminals and some wiring. Okay, how did you miss that on the 27 point inspection? Leaves me no confidence in the simple oil and filter change we took our truck in for. I gave them one star because at least the service advisor was courteous to us during this fiasco. read more

All this dealership cares about is selling but no customer service. My husband and I canceled the GAP protection on our new Dodge Ram back in January 2018. The finance guy told us to wait 4 weeks. At the four week mark no refund. We called and left a voicemail, with no call back to us. My husband went by the dealership just to be told it was "processing ". Last week I chatted with someone online that stated a manger would be contacting us regarding our questions and concerns, not a word from anyone yet. I just tried calling and no answer from the finance department or sales department. I wouldn't recommend this dealership, they don't care about their customers or service! read more

When going for a trade in be prepared for a lowball quote and to be lied to. Example Kelly Blue Book gives 29000 trade in, they offer 22500, they say they are going to sell it for 26000 but have a year older same model for sale with 18000 more miles for sale for $31000. Terrible service department. I should have been tipped off when the first appointment slot they offered me was in the past. since my time machine was out of order I had them look forward and scheduled an appointment the next day. During the drop-off it was apparent that they had botched the appointment but had me leave the car anyway. A day later my car was still sitting in the service department and had not been looked at.
