We love coming to Dewey's for our baked goods and ice cream! Today we got baked goods only, but we did try out a couple ice creams! The staff were friendly as usual! It's always very homey and welcoming inside! Our cupcakes were a bit overcooked today, but that's highly unusual for them! We love the pink lemonade ice cream, cake bites and cupcakes (bring back the lemon gummies!) My husband loves the German chocolate cupcake! My son loves all their cupcakes with his top 2 being cookies and cream and salted caramel. He also tried out the apple pop up and he loved it! We got some Rice Krispies and chocolate covered marshmallows as well!

Dewey's prepared a birthday cake for a family member recently, and had prepared a graduation cake for another. The cakes were attractive and very tasty. Seems they can pretty much design any cake you wish.

After recently moving here I had to try this 95 year old institution. This store is what dreams are made of. My wife's family grew up celebrating all of life's achievements with a sugary confection or cake from here and with any luck will continue for years to come! From the moment you open the door and smell the airborne sugar confections you know you have arrived. This place is magical in many ways. As the inventors of the renowned Moravian cookies to the cupcakes and special occasion cakes to cinnamon rolls and ice cream. The staff are all super friendly and willing to help pick out your favorite confection or special order your celebration cake. On my first visit I got a selection of cupcakes, ground house coffee and the famous Moravian cookies. The cupcakes were absolutely delicious as well is the coffee. I cant wait to try the cookies soon. I am already planning my next trip and hope to be frequenting this place often. If you find yourself in the area this is a must go to destination!

Although it was unfortunate that the bakery only sells sweet potato pies which is the speciality of Winston-Salem during autumn months, the chess tart and the napoleon was still delicious.

    Dried frosting trim

I always order my birthday cakes from Deweys. It's a little tradition in my family, but this cake I ordered for my husband's birthday was a disappointment and I hate to say that. The frosting trim that is typically encircling the top of the cake was not present. The frosting on the top was very thin, usually it's at least a centimeter thick. The trim encircling the bottom of the cake was old and dried out. Finally, they spelled my husband's name in lower case. I don't know if Deweys is trying to skimp on costs, but I was surprised at the lack of quality. I go to Deweys because of their excellent cakes and desserts. I am disheartened.

Who doesn't love of a trifle? Dewey's in Winston Salem is adding a new menu item to their offerings starting August 13th - a Dewzy! A Dewzy is a layered dessert that begins with a base layer of their delicious cake, followed by a scoop of their luscious ice cream and finished with layers of artful toppings including espresso, chocolate chips, homemade pudding, sprinkles, or their buttercream frostings - all of this is topped with a dollop of their whipped cream and one of their signature Moravian cookies - YUM. We tried the coffee break which has layers of honey latte ice cream, mocha chips, vanilla cake and espresso and the Black Forest cherry which has layers upon layers of chocolate cake, frosting, chocolate shavings and luscious cherries! Interested in trying one? They're having a summer launch party on August 13th with magicians, caricature artists, a live DJ, lots of amazing giveaways including a chance to win free dewzys for a year!

Went to try something new they are adding to the menu called the DEWZY it's a flavorful dessert that combines layers of cake, ice cream and delicious sauces, topping, and fillings; whip cream and their famous Moravian cookie on top!! Think of it as a trifle! With over 10 special creations to choose from, like Boston cream, caramel turtle banana pudding, and black forest cherry, OR you can create your own DEWZY with your favorite combinations, you can't go wrong! So, what did I get? -1st one i created my own: Banana pudding, chocolate cake, strawberry filling, vanilla ice cream, and my whip cream and cookie. -2nd one- Birthday party All the good stuff from Dewey's rich history together; as they should be; vanilla cake, white butter cream, icing, and vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. Interested in trying a dewzy? Come join their summer party They are also launching for the DEWZY a summer party. They will have TWO dates - August 13th at 262 S. Stratford Rd. Winston salem from 11am-7pm - September 9th at 2876 Reynolda Road winston salem 11am-7pm Both events will have live radio broadcasts, magicians, caricature artists, live djs, tons of giveaway, and the chance to win a FREE DEWZYs for A YEAR!!!! YOU DONT WANT TO MISS IT!!.

The best icing in town goes to Dewey's. I got a few cake squares to have a variety and my friend got the Boston cream dewzy. They have such a selection of gifts and goodies inside.

I had a great experience. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. Everyone spoke to me and asked if I had any questions or needed anything. I love that. Dewey's also a sells cute little knickknacks and kitchen items. They also had some party items and local college and university items as well. I ordered a banana pudding Dewzy. It was very good and It had real bananas in it! You get a pretty large cup for a good price. Before today I have only had their cupcakes and cake squares but never a Dewzy. So far I have not tasted anything from Dewey's that's I haven't liked. It was the perfect treat for a really hot day. There are few tables and chairs outside for you to enjoy your treats and it's perfect because they are located under the building awning so you have plenty of shade. I'll have to come back to try more things. I have my eye on the coffee break Dewzy.

    Napoleon!?

bright, cheerful, and smells like cake! three important qualities I want in a bakery and a friend. just getting here is an exercise in itself but so worth it to sample the treats on display. Dewey's bakes the stuff of dreams and seems to have been a local staple for several generations with cookies and brownies and pies and tarts and other such novelties at a fair price. besides the fresh goods they have select prepared morsels and a variety of candles, candy, and novelties to put the finishing touch on your decorations or supplement your own baking creations plus papers and cards and gift bags for all occasions... and the obligatory twelve dozen pithy and poignant coffee mugs. ...but I'm here for lemon bars and Napoleon.

Mint Chocolate Dewzy, Ultimate Chocolate Dewzy, Banana Pudding Dewzy

Dewey's is a little bakery that offers both baked goods and other sweet treats. The inside of the shop is a bit chaotic as it also sells trinkets and other items in addition to running a bakeshop. Today, I came in to try their newest creation, the Dewzy. The Dewzy is a layered ice-cream/cake treat served in a tall, transparent cup. The Dewzy is very visually appealing with all the layers and colors stacked on top of each other. We tried their Banana Pudding, Ultimate Chocolate, and Mint Chocolate Dewzys. Boy was this appropriately named! Initially, the Dewzy is quite tasty and the nice cool treat on these hot days are sorely welcoming, but that took a turn quite quickly. All the sugar started to weigh down on us and left us feeling extremely sluggish and uncomfortable. We had to sadly discard most of the food. If you were to come and try this treat, I'd definitely recommend sharing one as trying to finish one on your own is similar to taking on a food challenge. Nevertheless, the treat was enjoyable and definitely worth trying if you've got a sweet tooth!

    Birthday cake Dewzy!
    Heather W.

Up front I will say that I am not a fan of the way Dewey's cakes taste. While absolutely gorgeous I find them to be kind of so-so in the flavor department. However, I can now say that I AM a fan of their Dewzy desserts! Part ice cream sundae/part trifle these are seriously delicious! Since my birthday is tomorrow I chose the birthday cake flavor and it was layered with yellow sponge cake, vanilla ice cream, some buttercream icing and,of course, sprinkles. It captured that perfect, rich, nostalgic birthday cake flavor! I will give a warning that the "classic" 20 oz size is very large and I could only eat about 1/3 of it...But it's a perfect size to share with a friend! This Dewzy was better than some famous milkshakes I've had around town so definitely try this for your next treat!

    Chocolate Cake

We ordered the graduation cake, it came like this. When we got there the woman would not show me the cake. We get home and that's how the cake looked. It was in the fridge and when we opened the box, it came out like this.

Peach mojito tasted like a peach bellini, so that one was really good - my fiancé's favorite. He ordered the meat and cheese omelette with turkey sausage. It was a lot of meat, maybe even too much. It was more meat than egg. Then, the egg itself was lackluster. It wasn't fluffy either. Cheese was fine. Overall would not get again. But the pancakes were pretty good. It made up for the omelette.
