There were several people in front of us when we arrived, but they kept the line moving, and got people served quickly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, though the outdoor patio is in the middle of the parking lot. They offer a huge selection of cakes, cupcakes, pies and more to pick from, pricing is fair, and slices are generous. Picking just 1 slice of cake each was the hardest part of the visit. I went with red velvet, and my wife went with a slice of butter pecan. Both were fantastic, very moist, and flavorful, both layered with delicious frosting. Oh how my family loves this place! We used to come here a lot when we lived in Greensboro so visit every time we are in the area. It's a super cool place to meet a friend and catch up. There's more than one room and various comfortable areas to relax in. The hard part of coming here is deciding what to order. Everything I have ever had has been wonderful. This time it was two different chocolate chip cookies. We disagreed about the best one. We each had our favorite. Always clean and well kept and helpful people behind the counter. I've been to Maxie B's exactly once so far, and on my first visit, was drawn to the free samples they had out. Normally, I'm not someone who "falls for" a sample, so to speak -- I'll make my way around the wholesale grocery stores on a Saturday morning and try everything, for the fun of it, without ever being persuaded to sway from my original list. However, after I tried a sample of the Brown Stone cake, I was physically unable to leave without ordering a slice. The caramel icing was so sweet and buttery, and tasted just like a homemade, soft caramel candy. The light chocolate cake complemented the icing perfectly, and nothing was too sweet. This is THE cutest bakery in Greensboro! I got cupcakes here for my sister's baby sprinkle and they were all delicious. I got one of almost everything on the menu and we enjoyed every one. Been wanting to try this place for a while, and glad we did! Sorry I didn't take pics on this one, but I did get the caramel apple cake, which was super MOIST with a bomb of a caramel frosting. The apple was pleasant but could have stood out more. Maybe sliced too small? Maybe not enough of it? Either way, 9/10. I also got the Italian sweet cream cake which reminded me more of a carrot cake without the carrot, with cream cheese frosting and nuts. Also a very pleasant cake that was the opposite of dry. 7/10. My wife got the devil's food cake, which comes with a chocolate frosting. I don't normally like devil's food cake, but the ratio of cake to frosting kept it from feeling dried out. 8/10. I also had (yes, this was a big order) the coffee cake, which was probably the best I've ever had or close to it! Huge portion, she super wet, flavor was pretty perfect, great texture! 9.95/10 might be a 10 depending on if you prefer yours with crumb topping (I do). The storefront was clean and vibrant but small, but they do have an outdoor area cordoned off in the parking lot for eating outside on a nice day. Otherwise, plan to take it elsewhere. They also offer quiches and other savory items as well as coffees, and the service was friendly and patient, despite being busy at the time we went. We also got a lot of options for the total price, which came out to $50. Seven items for that price is pretty good, I think. As customers flowed in, the staff was very attentive and checked on us multiple times and were patient as we took our time making our decision. With so many delicious options, it's always so hard to pick just one! My partner chose a slice of key lime cake and I picked the strawberry cake (the generous amount of strawberries called to me!). We found a cozy spot in the next room and parked ourselves by the window so we could watch the bees and butterflies as they danced from one wildflower to another. The atmosphere is amazing very laid back. They have an electric fireplace that makes it super cozy. The customer service is always impeccable. While passing through North Carolina, my husband introduced me to Maxie B's and I'm glad he did! It is a cozy and cute atmosphere otherwise inside and outside. My family and I visit this place often, especially since they have vegan and gluten-free options (although I do wish there were a few more vegan cake options). I have never once had something here i didn't like. Their cookies (favorite is the stuffed chocolate chip cookie) melt in your mouth, their pies have a delightfully buttery crust, and their cakes are superior to any other cakes around. I was welcomed into the chic location by a few members of the staff to ensure I was taken care of. I ordered a total of five cupcakes, carrot cake, an old fashioned, red velvet, vanilla and Oreo. I love the carrot cake and will definitely make sure I go get another one before I leave. I wasn't necessarily overly impressed with the Oreo as it didn't seem as fresh as the others. Everyone else did like the others. As an out of towner, I didn't know how much things cost-I probably would've purchased more desserts had the prices been posted.
