Oh my!! Some friends of ours gave us a Dewey's gift card as an early present for Christmas. We just couldn't wait to use it, especially after their glowing recommendation of the place. So we ventured out (all 7 of us) to Dewey's on a Monday night, hoping the place wouldn't be too crowded. We have twin infants, a 2-year old, and a 6-year old set of twins, so eating out with them is always an adventure! But, they were absolutely enthralled with Dewey's, and major kudos to this helpful, friendly staff that made us feel right at home. The kids loved looking through the window at the cooks tossing the dough and making pizzas. Every once in awhile, the cooks would grin and toss flour at our 6-year old twins from the other side of the window, making them giggle and squeal with delight. It was the perfect entertainment while we waited for our pizza to get done. When it was served, we all couldn't believe how good it was! There was barely a crumb left when we got done with our Don Corleone and Hawaiian- amazing pizza. We will certainly be back. Thank you to the staff for a truly enjoyable experience! read more

Me and my boyfriend love coming here and we enjoy our food and service every time. However, when we ordered our drinks they came with a straw in them. For some people that's not a big deal, for my boyfriend and I, we often refuse any plastic we can. We bring our own metal straws because there are too many plastic straws just being thrown away after one use. I suggest only giving them out upon request. read more

I wish Dewey's and Peel would make a pizza baby. I love Dewey's crust. It's substantial and soft, but not chewy like Peel. But I feel like Dewey's lacks in the different toppings department, which is a big blow for me personally. I love the open kitchen and being able to watch the guys do their pizza magic while you wait on a table. The servers are friendly. I feel like the prices are a dollar or two higher than what they should be for a pizza place like Dewey's. It's not really gourmet pizza but it's not lower quality either. I've been there twice, once with my boyfriend and once with my parents, and haven't had a craving or want to go back. They are not a bad pizza place at all, but they don't really have a resounding quality that makes me want to go back. But do try them if you haven't! We came in for dinner with our two young kids and had wonderful service both from the host who greeted us and our waiter. Their special was a taco pizza that was amazing. They brought out little cups of shredded cheese and grapes for our kids to snack on before our pizza came. Highly recommend! read more

This is my third and last visit. My $9 calzone was ordered with mushrooms, spinach, and red onions. When I received it, I was very surprised to find how scantily filled it was! I feel like I need to set you up with some background knowledge before you will trust my rating. I'm a Chicago girl with Chicago sensibilities and needs. That doesn't mean that my pizza needs to be a half foot think with the sauce on top. That means that I require a crispy crust that will support most, if not all, of the toppings. New York wants you to believe the best pies will require you to fold your slice in half in order to take a bite. I submit to you my dear reader that in doing so you are turning your pizza into a calzone. A calzone! Calzones have this place, the garbage. Just kidding, if I was five and having a birthday party a calzone would hit the spot. Returning to my needs I will move up to the sauce. It doesn't need to be red but it needs to exist. If it's tomato, it needs to be the consistency of BBQ sauce. I'm not talking about sweet baby rays store bought sugar sauce. I'm talking about the type of sauce you get from a squeeze bottle with a hand written label. If you're going with olive oil then I will have mine with some added goodness like garlic or herbs. And now my favorite discussion topic, cheese. A proper pizza will have a cheese top that is neither greasy or wet. The grease can come from an incompatible cheese or some offending toppings. The best stuffed pizza is from Bacino's in Lincoln park. Their spinach deep dish is a prime example of a perfectly constructed pizza. You could expect some water and grease from a thick pie like that. However there is none. It's a beautiful thing. Lastly the toppings can be varied and in tune with changing tastes. I'll try your figs, fish, or falafel. Be warned though because I will judge you harshly on your sausage. It's a midwest thing. We know what sausage should be. Also the toppings should not sweat. No one wants a watery pizza. I ordered a half Edgar Allen Poe and half Socrate's Revenge. And I ended up with three pies. Don't ask. This post is already really too long. Who has actually made it all the way to this ending? The pizza was so so so what I come to desire. The crust was crispy and supportive. All three had the olive oil and garlic sauce which was perfectly portioned. No drippy messes on the plate. The toppings plentiful and not wet, which makes me believe that they were roasted/prepared before hand -especially the wild mushroom pizza. It was a wonderful dinner. Complete with a seasonal salad and fresh brewed ice tea. Thanks Dewey's for dishing up a very desirable pie. I'll be back. read more

Really like Dewey's Pizza!! The pizza and salads are awesome and the build your own pizza is great. Seems every time we go there the place is busy but big enough there really isnt ever a wait and if there is its never very long. We just tried the calzones as a carry out - wonderful! These things are huge; one is enough for 2 moderate eaters. Loved the options including the "gourmet" add-ons such as pine nuts and sundried tomatoes. At $8 per calzone, which would feed 2, this is a more economical way to enjoy Dewey's without paying top dollar for a pizza. Don't tell Dewey's I told you this or they will increase the calzone price! read more

Great pizza as usual from Dewey's. This was our first time in this store in Edwardsville and it was a great experience. The staff if friendly and attentive. The wait for a Friday night was good, told 15-25 minutes and we were seated in 24 . This is a great place to go before a night at the new Wildey theater. read more

My wife and I were in a hurry to get a something to eat and drink before a show. It was a random stop and our first visit to a Dewey Pizza. There was a wait for a table so we grabbed a stool at the bar. The bartender service was very quick and friendly. There is a small but excellent selection of local craft beers and very reasonably priced wines. The pizza menu selections are different and Interesting. We ordered a half and half of two different speciality pizzas. The crust had a perfect cook, a great chew, and a wonderful taste. Some of the best we have we have eaten. The sauce was the exact right amount. The toppings were perfect and plentiful. Everyone was extremely friendly. Really nice vibe in the restaurant. In summary an excellent surprise. First visit to Dewey's E'ville tonight. Able to get seated right away at 5:15 on Sunday evening, and it stayed that way throughout our meal. Nice modern dining area - very open with high ceilings. Salads were exceptional. On par with salads I've eaten at finer restaurants. The house salad - with mixed greens, cranberries, pine nuts, goat cheese, and balsamic - oh my. It is delish! My husband and daughter also liked their peppercorn ranch salads. Beer on tap from local breweries adds to the modern appeal. Served in pint glasses. Now the pizza. This is a solid pie. My favorite pizza place in the Metro-East is Gia's, and it still is - I prefer the thin crust and I like it with a little char - but this is certainly a fresh, well-done option. Crust is "hand-tossed", flaky, only slightly "doughy". The red sauce has a bit of spice and is the star of this pie in my opinion. Cheese and other ingredients were fresh and good. Would go here just for the salad. Set your expectations high there. The pizza is good, but you won't rocket to the moon after eating it - you'll just know you had some decent 'za! read more

The staff is always friendly and helpful, the pizza is unbelievable, and the beer is cold and regularly changed to maintain variety. Hands down, one of my favorite places to eat because of the incredible atmosphere and genre real happy vibe.
