This was my first time at Deweys and I only wandered in because another restaurant I wanted to eat at had an hour wait. Their was a modest 15 min wait at Deweys at 7pm on a Friday night. When you walk down the long hallway to rhe bar and hostess stand, the first thing that caught my eue was the glass windows where you can see the pizza makers at their finest. Talk about enticing! Let me just say that this place has excellent pizza! We ordered the Ryan's Inferno (buffalo chicken style pizza) with a ceasar salad. They also offer craft beer (I ordered the 4 Hands wheat ale from St. Louis) Their pizza dough is chewy and flaky....NY style and delicious! The toppings were fresh and cheese was gooey. The service was excellent. Servers stopped by multiple times to refill drinks and check in on us even though it was busy. Will definitely be back! read more

Two stars because Yelp wouldn't allow me to wait list a table of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids under 12). I wait listed a group of 5 (max allowed) and asked the host when I arrived at the restaurant to update my reservation. They said they were going to have to move me to the bottom of the list! What?! Pizza good, but got charged twice on my debit card, besides my bill. My online line bank had a second charge. I called the manager at Dewey's, who said they would fix it and get back to me. As usual, had wonderful evening at Dewey's. Surprisingly, we got seated almost immediately even though the restaurant was full of families. Kids enjoy watching through the big glass window while the pizzas are being made. The cooks always interact and entertain the kids while families wait for seats. The staff draw faces in the big window and throw dough. Since tonight was no waiting when we arrived, there wasn't a "show". Darn!! Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Tables are cleaned as soon as guests leave instead of like some busy restaurants. We always get a large Greek salad to share. Food arrived promptly. Had the 17inch half Bronx Bomber and half Dr Dre. Amazing food, remarkable service and so many options. My favorite seasonal salad is the Harvest Salad hands-down. It's a great environment for date night, girls night, and family night. We love their unique specialty pizzas as well as the basic create your own. Everytime I go now, I'm hooked on their Calzones. They are filled and cooked to perfection with their perfect pizza dough. They offer a nice beer selection for your pizza & beer tradition. I haven't gone there without having the manager visit our table making sure our visit is the best it could be. It's also fun to watch the pizza chefs toss some flour on the window & play tic-tac-toe with the kids as they wait for a seat. Great food & fun! read more

First time at this Dewey's pizza location. My wife and I ordered a half meatball and half chicken, bacon, parmesan with white sauce. The meatball pizza was delicious. The fresh mozzarella cheese was great. The meatballs were seasoned perfect. The only down fall to my pizza was they forgot to cut it. No big deal but I still had to cut it. But the other half of are pizza was cut. The white sauce, chicken, bacon and parmesan cheese pizza was ok. I also got to try two other pizzas because we went with friends. The first was the Tito Santana. It was amazing. It tasted like a taco but on a pizza. The second pizza was the southwest BBQ chicken. What made this pizza good was the black bean corn salsa. Very good pizza. Besides the hour wait. But that was understandable because we had eight people and there was a party of like twenty taking up a lot of room. The wait staff was very nice and were on it when it came to getting drink refills and answering any questions we had. Wow, what a disappointment. This is one of our favorite places in town to eat, but this day was a day we should have walked out and went somewhere else. When we arrived there were only 3 clean table and only 3 other tables eating. The help was to busy on their phones to clean tables or fill our glasses. The last 15 minutes we were the only table in there and still no service or anyone cleaning tables. When we asked when the manager would be in we were told that she was there now. In other words she was one of the people we seen that was doing nothing except checking her phone. Huge turn off. So sad!!! read more

We (my girlfriend and I) wanted to get pizza for our lunch date, so we decided on Dewey's based on reviews. Dewey's did not disappoint. Their salads were really fresh, we had the Seasonal Harvest salad (figs, pumpkin seeds, BACON!, and gargonzola) and also the traditional Caesar salad. We completely destroyed the plates and then moved on to the pizza.... I wish I had a bigger stomach for the deliciousness that was being devoured. We split our pizza, I had Ryan's Inferno and my girlfriend had the Green Lantern, the pizza at 17" was ridiculously delicious. I would absolutely recommend this place and will be planning to go back very soon. read more

Visit this location often. Always great service. I just carried out three large pizzas that I called in advance. When I arrive to pick them up the order had been lost somehow in the system. The manager was very apologetic, re-made the order very quickly, and did not charge me for any of it. Over the years of visiting this location, once in a while we will have a mess up on our pizza in the customer service level is always top notch to take care of the problem. We ordered the Dr. Dre and the Meatball pizza for pick up. The Dr. Dre pizza was amazing! The Meatball pizza on the other hand was very disappointing. Both pizzas were the same price but when you opened the boxes you could tell that whoever made the Meatball didn't even try compared to the maker of the Dr. Dre. The Meatball pizza had very minimal meat and cheese. Paying $20 for crust and sauce was very frustrating! Deweys has great pizza when you dine in but I will be hesitant to carry out anymore. Ever increasing prices, smaller portions and scant toppings along with smaller and smaller portions have removed this long term favorite from our dining rotation. The uncontrolled screaming kids always made the experience suck but the food now sucks just as much as the brat brigade. $16 for a medium two-topping pizza is bullshit particularly when you pay top dollar for a very skimpy (8 pieces of sausage on the whole pizza and 7 pieces of pepperoni and almost no cheese) pizza. $7 for a salad that is the size of the McDonalds $1 salad is also a massive rip off. It's simply no longer worth half of what they are charging and the suck ass dining experience that came with it makes it a pleasure NOT to go there. Screaming brats and ridiculously overpriced food means I will never be removing Dewey dick from my ass again. It's over Dewey. Dewey's pizza is a special experience. Upon arrival you are greeted by a view of the kitchen, and a show of pizza craftsmanship. The hosts are gracious and seat guests promptly. Once seated a server will nearly instantaneously take your drink order, and might I add my server Jenna is one of the greats! The pizza is its own breed of exploding flavor, and supple crust. So I am a huge pizza fan nobody can beat macchiato's pizza in San Diego it is absolutely phenomenal and well worth the drive. I watch videos on YouTube about pizza and I think I would be truly be disappointed in Italy. I've had Chicago style New York style and St. Louis style hands-down where I live is Dewey,s Pizza. Have dined at this location twice. Service has been fantastic on both occasions. Staff is very attentive and friendly. The entire wait staff does a great job supporting each other, helping keep drinks full and touching the table frequently to ensure nothing is needed. Food has been very consistent and good. Quality of the ingredients and amount of toppings definitely exceeded my expectations. The one drawback is that there is often a wait. With the customer volume they have it can frequently take 30-45 minutes, or more, to be seated. Having only gone during peak business hours 6-7pm this was expected, and the wait is well worth the quality of pizza you get. read more

Okay, so did Edwardsville really need another pizza place?? After two visits to Deweys, I'm convinced that it did! Food: I really like their pizza. On my first visit, I had a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, green olives, and extra cheese. It was good, but the crust was soggy. My bad for ordering too much cheese. Yet, I loved the sauce which had the perfect combination of sweet and spice. So...I visited a second time (same order minus the x cheese), and my pizza was great. This time I also ordered their peppercorn ranch salad, which was reminiscent of Pi's BLT salad (yum!). For reference, my gold standard of 'Za is d'Bronx from Kansas City, and this was really close. Next time I'll try to save room for dessert, as they looked amazing. Service: The managers are doing their job of thoroughly training employees. Waitstaff are extremely attentive and accommodating of children. Tables are bussed promptly, and the staff throwing the pizza dough are quite entertaining and cheerful. Keep it up! One of my Edwardsville favorites. I crave the Ryan's inferno on a regular basis- the perfect amount of hot and tasty.

To be fair, we had take-out, which sometimes isn't as good as eating pizza in-house. But we were underwhelmed... Not bad, but just don't see what the hype is about. Also in fairness, we did not order one of their signature pizzas but rather ordered our own toppings on their "build your own." So their branded pizzas may be "more special" than what we had. Our main complaint is that the bottom of the crust was soft to the point of seeming under cooked and gummy, yet that wouldn't seem to be the case in that the edge was cooked properly, and actually pretty tasty. Would like for the bottom crust to have been more crunchy. The mushrooms were nice... fresh, not canned. Didn't care so much for the sausage... can't say why specifically, although part of it might be our preference for the crumbled kind of Italian sausage rather than the sliced links. The sauce is decent. The Greek salad was good... includes whole roasted garlic cloves, which were a nice (and unusual) touch. Bottom line: Decent neighborhood pizza joint, if they fix the crust problem. I wouldn't consider it gourmet pizza, but probably can't say that for sure until we try one of their signature varieties. read more
