The atmosphere is excellent. The restaurant is built in an old warehouse, but they've done an excellent job of making it welcoming and warm, while keeping the historic character. I got oysters, which were fresh and shucked properly. It's summer, so they weren't the best oysters ever, but there's nothing the restaurant can do about summer oysters. The beer selection is good, and the waitstaff is top notch. No complaints! read more

Beautiful view and great food. I loved the sandwiches on Naan - I was a little hesitant but these were amazing!! Service was good and the interior is adorable. I just went here for the first time this past weekend for brunch and it was so yummy everyone kept talking about how they wanted to come back. The only downside was that they were short staffed so we had limited options as to what drinks we could order. We ordered a mix of omelets, benedict's, waffles, and classic 2 egg breakfast. The omelet and waffle were the stars of the show. My only complaint is that the home fries weren't that great but the egg benedict itself made up for it. read more

We stopped in on Monday 2/2 at 6:00 for 1$ oysters. We were greeted by the hostess and told her we were planning on sitting at the bar. She went to the bar to checkout the availability. She informed us the bartender told her a gentleman was finishing his drink and would be dining upstairs. We waited about 15 minutes and he paid his tab. The hostess told us we were all set and walked us to a high top table. We asked about the bar stools and she informed us another women is sitting there. What?? We were told they would be reserved for us. No oysters at 6 and inconsistent service. Very disappointing. read more

I'll begin by stating that this has always been one of our favorite restaurants. But this Valentine's Day was a huge disappointment. For some reason, the food coming out of the kitchen was ridiculously slow. The waitress kept saying that they were swamped because of Valentine's Day, but the dining room was less than half full. We began by ordering a split of champagne to toast the holiday. It still had not arrived by the time we finished our salads. How hard is it to grab a bottle and 2 glasses? I could almost understand if we had ordered some exotic drink for the bartender to create. So we told her to forget about the champagne. We didn't want it with our meal. As for the entrees, the waiting time was incredibly long. We asked the waitress about this, but again, she said the kitchen was swamped. And again, the dining room was only 1/3 full. We almost cancelled our dessert because of the long wait. We had been there for over 2 hours already. The food was very good though. So we are torn about going back. We like the food very much and never had a problem like this before. But I sure don't want another meal like this one. read more

First off, if exorbitant pricing is a concern, this place might not be your cup of tea. Pun intended. Prices are steep with a cup of tea running you $5, and no, there are no free refills offered. That's an insane markup! Secondly, the average to meager portion sizes don't align with the expensive cost either. I ordered an egg and cheese with crispy bacon on naan. It came with their homemade potato chips which I found kind of odd (who wants to eat potato chips with their breakfast?). The interior is dark and intriguing; it feels like you've stepped back in time quite honestly. Our nice server, Olivia, tended to our table, and kindly grabbed me more hot water (on the house) so I could extend the life of my green tea bag. It's nice that there is free transient docking offered literally in their backyard; that encouraged us to eat breakfast there in the first place. After our experience though, if the prices are not adjusted, I just don't see us going back. read more

Went for a birthday dinner for a friend and the bill was split 3 ways but even tho we all have a tip included on each bill (which was just over 15%) my tab got hit for an extra $10! I called the restaurant and they said they would look into it but never heard back! So clearly the waiter changed my tip to give himself a full 20% on just my part of the bill. The food is mediocre in my opinion, chapel grille in Cranston is way better and worth the money. The prices here were a bit over the top for what u get. The waiter would disappear and never even came to check on our table to see how we were liking the food which annoyed me because I wanted to ask for extra dressing on the side but never saw him again to ask. I personally wouldn't go back, nothing on the menu really stuck out and flavor wise (I tried a little of everyone dish) it was just all lack luster and boring. And $8 for a side salad that only had tomato's and some shredded carrot was insane! I think restaurant impossible needs to do recon on this place cuz it's lacking. Maybe Bristol folk think it's good for a local place but the service and prices r just not good. The ambience is kinda dimly lit, we for some reason were sat near the door and would get a gust of cold air followed by intense heat which was annoying. The place was quiet and barely anyone there and they sat us right up front which was odd. This is my part of the bill was more than the other twos bills. I paid for myself, my mom and part of the birthday girls meals. The other two girls paid for themselves and part of the birthday girls. Their bills came to $49 each and we all did a $10 tip. But somehow I got hit with an extra $10! My bill came to $108.28 but my bank account was hit for $118.28 Both the other girls with their tips came to $59 each and nothing extra was added to theirs. I called a few days later after the visit to tell them I was being charged more money, the girl took my name and card number down and said someone would call me back by the next day after they located my bill.... This place was ~fine~. To be honest, my biggest complaint is the pricing. The food tasted good but not great and the portions were not matching the price. My friend got the vegetable platter and said it was bland and underwhelming. I got the salmon which was fine, but the rice was plain and tastes like what I make back home. Last weekend, I hosted a surprise birthday party for my husband at Dewolf Tavern. There are no words, how fabulous everything turned out. First of all working with Sherry Rego, Dewolf's event person, was a pleasure to work with. She listened to my vision and went above and beyond in helping me achieve it. Chef Sai's food was superb, everyone commented on how delicious everything was! Nuth the bartender was a mixologist with a fabulous personality. Went in on a Monday night and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly ans very helpful. He suggested the mulled wine, which my friend loved. I had a glassmif prosecco. It was $1 oyster night, so we each had 2 local oysters, then we split an order of the olive naan, which was soft, fresh and delicious, and came with a sauce with yogurt to drizzle on the naan. We also split the fried chicken sandwich, with mango sour cream on fresh naan. So delicios and a huge sandwich! The food was all so good and different. Perfect night out. read more

During the pandemic, we had a nice dinner meal outside in the covered patio area. You can still see the water and the nice view. The blackened salmon was good. The shaved steak sandwich was a winner. The Manchurian cauliflower app was also nicely done. The restaurant has an Indian influence on many of its dishes, as you can see by many of their plates. They use Naan bread. Do not go for a nice or formal event. More of a pub than a stake house and service did not match the price tag. The atmosphere is not as advertised and we're shoved into a small corner (party 11) despite having a reservation (made 2 months prior) where they said we could all be at one table. They did not we ended up moving squeezing into one table and trying to pull adjust chairs well the staff watched and did nothing. Kept forgetting drinks/food with meals arriving 15+ after. Honestly, very disappointing especially for a graduation (which they were aware of). They had a party going on upstairs but would have been better had they just cancelled our reservation or let us know. Service was horribly clear they only cared about the party. read more

Stopped in for brunch. Great old building with outdoor seating. Our server Olivia was great and answered our many questions in regard to food allergies without any hesitation. (Two of the four of us have gluten issues). Food was served quickly, hot and with ample portions. In addition to the impeccable service and fantastic cuisine, the DeWolf Tavern's location was super convenient for our guests. I loved that our guests could pop right over to their hotel rooms at the Bristol Harbor Hotel and Marina. Having the Empire Tea and Coffee shop right on location was great for our guests to grab a coffee and a bite to eat before hitting the road in the morning. In short, I cannot recommend the DeWolf Tavern highly enough for anyone seeking a truly unforgettable wedding experience. Cute and cozy. I was recommended this restaurant by a good friend who visits Dewolf Tavern often but was slightly disappointed. Started off with the fall Sangria but not worth the money. The lamb chops were good but arugula and carrots underdressed. My boyfriend ordered Al carte salmon with fries I make better at home and presentation was blah. I had the naan bread shredded steak and cheese with house chips bland as well. I asked for extra sauce just to give it flavor. Will I go back not really sure. Also no specials for a Sunday when there was so much going on in the area outside. I opted out for dessert because nothing was calling my name to try it. read more

We made reservations a week ahead of time for two for dinner New Year's Eve. We were a couple minutes early, and the hostess said she was going upstairs to check on our table. When she returned, another woman at the stand was quietly talking to her. Suddenly the first woman started acting confused about the reservation, and then led us to a table downstairs in the bar. Loud live music made it difficult to hear, and when we told her we expected to sit in the dining room upstairs, she said "it wasn't on your reservation. " We tried to make the best of it, but watched as couple after couple were led upstairs. Checking their reservation site, there wasn't a place to choose seating areas. To make matters worse, the steak had no flavor, nor did the pasta. We had been going to this restaurant since it's opening, and missed the past couple of years the due to hectic schedules. We dine frequently in Bristol, but this visit made us feel very unwelcome, and we won't be back. Obviously something about us is now not in the Dewolf seating policy. read more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience from appetizers, entrees, dessert and wine list. Only one other table was taken The food is good not great The hostess was young and inexperienced wanting to seat us near the kitchen we asked for another table which was an issue for her she was very perplexed by our request even though only ONE other table was taken. We asked for a booth she said they were reserved. (2 were empty) Another couple came in she took them to the same spot near the kitchen they too asked about the booth again she repeated it was reserved. Another couple came in and when seated in an awkward area between two poles got up and left. Did the reserved booths get taken? One by a couple who came in later but the other DID NOT fill. So who do they cater too? Clients or Ghosts? I had the salmon Benedict the eggs were hardly cooked and the muffin was soggy and unappealing. The salmon was not very good either. My husband had some rice/veg dish that was served in a cast iron pan and so hot he couldn't even enjoy it. We used the bread dish to take some out to cool. Let's be realistic you want your clientele to get burned while attempting to eat. Serve a side dish for a HOT pan! The waiter was OUTSTANDING the only good part of the visit. He was on point at all times,did a second check on our meal,brought coffee often and was polite and quiet. Very professional. You may want to try somewhere else for breakfast. read more

We were the only table dining for a Sunday night and the service was poor. Waiter was hanging out with the other staff half the time. Some dude in dirty clothes walked out from the back, scarfing down food from a takeout box while he stood and stared at the manager and some other staff work on some light fixture attached to a cutting board. We were able to return to the DeWolf Tavern for drinks and apps. It was on St. Patrick's Day, an overcast drizzly day. The tavern was busy but not crowded and we were able to sit at the bar. Colby, our server, greeted us at the door and took care of us during our stay. The Tavern's atmosphere is very conducive for conversation and enjoying cocktails. I had the Birch Old Fashioned (great!) and my husband enjoyed a Tullamore Dew. We shared apps of Chicken Empanadas and Shrimp Pakora (both very tasty and good accompaniment with the drinks). We saw the chef come out a couple of times to say hello to patrons, which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and Colby was very attentive. Ok, where do I start? We walk in to find, the table we requested had been given to someone else. We get it, those types of things can happen. They made a good effort to make sure we were happy with our seating. Our server Colby came by promptly and we ordered drinks. We ordered the barley soup. One had barley the other was mostly broth. Otherwise, it tasted fine. Immediately we realized no bread was offered to us, so we ordered some to have with our soup (bread is not offered, you have to pay for it). In the meantime, because of the table mixup, we were told, the chef was making us a special appetizer. It was very thoughtful, however, he did not consider, we may not like raw fish, which we do not. We made every effort to try it, but it just wasn't for us. After finishing our soups, we received our bread along with our meals. To my surprise, my meal came with the exact same bread we ordered for the soup. My blackened salmon was blackened but cool. The house made chips had no flavor at all. When finished with dinner, our waitress Colby was very thoughtful to offer us a complimentary dessert. We ordered the apple tart. When we received the tart, it was actually a very soggy, puffed pastry. We ordered the pressed coffee with out desert. The coffee was exceptional! This was a birthday dinner and it was just a horrible experience, except for our server Colby, she was very nice and our coffee was enjoyable! We won't be back for a while if at all! read more

First visit to DeWolf Tavern. Once a month I take my family out to a new restaurant that we have not tried. This dinner happen to be for my 64th birthday. We were a party of seven adults and two grandkids. Let me start with the server was great no complaints. Now the bad news 6 of us ordered the filet mignon my order the baked stuff lobster and one other the salmon with my grandson ordering pasta wit butter(hard too mess that up). All the steaks were very dry with mashed potatoes with no flavor. As for my wife's lobster it was so baked it was impossible to garnish all the meat from the shell another very dry meal. Timing on the food was long which I attribute the the dryness of the food. So sorry to report this was about the worst $800.00 meal I ever had. Not returning any time soon. To bad great location. We both ordered seafood- grilled swordfish with a veg and grilled scallops w rice The swordfish was good and a good size piece That was fortuitous as I gave half to my husband. His scallops were inedible- had that salty chemical taste of being frozen. Or some kind of preservative. There was one other couple in the place, but our server was not attentive. No bread, had to ask for salt and pepper. We did tell her about the scallops which were uneaten on the plate, but they were still on the bill. So, we will not be back We do have friends who go there a lot, so may have been a bad night. read more

My husband and I celebrated our wedding at Bristol Harbor Inn on 8/10/2024 and working with DeWolf was a wonderful experience. Sherri made the planning process so easy and stress free - She went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. Guests loved the appetizers and plated meals, the food was delicious, and DeWolf provided excellent staff on hand for the entirety of the night.
