Our Asian salad cups appetizer tasted exactly like an Asian salad mix I've bought at the grocery store and looked like it too - I'm convinced that's exactly how they prepared this. My veggie burger had burnt edges and wasn't too enjoyable flavor-wise. It didn't help my overall impression that when I got takeout here another time, they totally butchered my boyfriend's name when we ordered over the phone, and we had a hard time picking up our order because of this (how you get "Stephanie" from "Anthony," I just really don't know). I think this place just gets lucky having a good location across from Independence Park and being close to but just out of the way from downtown. Can't say I was impressed by the food - there are too many other good options in Bristol, I just can't say I'd recommend this to others. Perhaps it's improved since I visited, but it's a pass for me based on experiences I've had.

The only problem here was that I asked for sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, to which the waiter simply said okay. Turns out it was an undisclosed upcharge. Not only did he not tell me it would be $2.75 (or something like that) more, but the fries are listed as the same price online. When I told him that, he said that their online menu is really old (this is to say, don't look at it! and also, not sure why they wouldn't update it if they know it's incorrect). Sure enough, the printed menu also said nothing about an upcharge for a different fry, so ultimately I was able to remove the charge, but it was a little awkward and frustrating. My only other complaint is not particularly the fault of the restaurant, but I suppose just a side effect of the laidback vibes. A group of 7 or 8 people came in like 20 minutes after us and was so loud that I almost suggested we leave. My guess is they were drunk, but it was a Wednesday night around 6:00, so I wouldn't have expected that. They were so loud that I was yelling to my friend who was within arm's length. Totally changed the vibe and enjoyment for me.

They charged me 30 dollars for a tiny "salad" that didn't even have all the ingredients/garnishes it was said to come with and the smallest slice of salmon I've ever seen. I was actually laughing at this. It took me all of 5 min to eat my "meal". The calamari was also soggy and imo not cooked well. The shrimp and corn fritters were sooooo good! I recommend them!

My coffee came out completely black. She didn't even put enough in to change the color. seriously, what is wrong with people? if I was not there with the Student, I would have walked out.

They have a daily menu, and I've had some friends suggest this place as their favorite restaurant. We parked blocks away due to the lack of adequate parking. Once we walked in, we were greeted with pleasant smiles from the staff. The menu was short, which we attributed to a focus on quality. We ordered a French onion dip and a littleneck entree as an app for the table. We were served with lukewarm water, neither cold nor hot. The apostle John might have been somewhat disappointed (Rev 3:16). The dip was decent but was somewhat lacking in great onion flavor. But nothing to complain about. The little necks were served in a small bowl and lacked a bit of salt. Rather pricey for $26, but this place charges $6 just for bread and butter, so maybe it's just inflation? Enter the entrees. They apparently were short on chicken legs so they asked to substitute chicken breast. Two of us got burgers. First the $20 burgers, which were served with an aioli with no offer of ketchup or other condiments. In short, both burgers were terrible. Far worse than we make at home. It's always a disappointment when you realize you're paying all this extra for food you can make better at home. The buns were shockingly flat, like someone smashed them by hand. Or in a McDonald's box. Come to think of it, the flavor was similar, though overall the hamburger was somewhat bitter, salty and lacked an appetizing flavor. Wow. We all agreed they were terrible. The fries were also burnt and over salted. My daughter quit on her $30 chicken, so I tried it. The sauce wasn't bad, and it was served with a decent brocollini. But the chicken was some of the driest I've had in a restaurant, with no crisp skin and a uniformly poor texture. No wonder no one finished their entrees. And I hate wasting food. So, as much as we would have wanted to give this place a great rating, we just won't be back. The service, although with a smile, was slow and terrible. Our candle burnt out in the middle of dinner. It was never relit. Our glasses were empty halfway through dinner. No refills on the tepid water. The entrees took an hour and a half before they came out (we were warned the chicken could take 30 min). Generally a very disappointing experience. Hard to explain the rave reviews but our Saturday dinner was a sad bust. The cold wet madeleines they provided in a doggie bag didn't do anything to help. Oh well. Hope y'all have a better experience if you go here.

We were having a lovely dinner in Warren and stopped into Bywater for a quick after-dinner drink. It was a bit cooler out but since they had no seats in the extremely limited bar area, we took the plunge and sat outside near their fire pits. They did not have many wines to choose from BTG which was disappointing. The one I had which was Cinsault was just ok. I had to dump out most of it since I did not enjoy it but that was my fault since sampling it I thought I liked it. My friend had the bartender make her a cocktail with grapefruit since they did not have pineapple. She was looking for a French martini but seemed to enjoy what they made her. My husband's espresso martini was very good I thought and light but could've used some bailey's. We already had dessert so we did not plan on anything else but I know I am interested in returning for dinner. The restaurant is very small inside but I loved the warm lights and decor. It was a very sexy and attractive vibe! If you are ever in Warren I highly recommend coming here for either drinks, dinner, or both. Dress warm if you plan on heading outside to sit near the fire...it does not give off that much heat! Cheers!

The Tikka Masala sauce was outstanding, and this place definitely had the BEST naan I've ever had (and I've eaten lots of Indian food in NJ!!) it was truly just so fluffy and warm, and delish. I had been wanting to try DeWolf tavern for a number of years due to reviews and the amount of good press that the chef had received. I was excited to try it and had high expectations. To start, I really liked the atmosphere and décor. The woman who sat us was very friendly, as was the server we had. The bread that came out was wonderfully soft and fresh, and the butter, which most restaurants don't do these days, was soft and spreadable. I truly appreciate the little details like that. I ordered the steamed mussels in a coconut/ginger broth. The broth was delicious. A little spicy, and not sweet as many chefs often do with this type of broth. I wish they had used a larger wild mussel, instead of the cultured PEI that pretty much everyone uses. They shrink up to the size of a raisin by the time they get to the table, but the flavor was on point. The three entrees were the lobster popover, rib-eye, and "shaved" steak sandwich. The "shaved" steak sandwich was not so shaved. I expect something done on a slicer, or at least done by someone with some degree of knife skills. It was hacked up chunks of dried out, overcooked, and unseasoned meat. I also think that they should say that it comes on naan and not a normal sandwich bread, but that was no big deal. The lobster popover consisted of a burnt popover, with frozen lobster meat, and a bland cream sauce that did not taste of sherry at all. The rib-eye.....wow! It was ordered medium rare but came to the table on the medium to medium well side. No biggie, we all make mistakes. I asked to have another steak cooked medium rare. The server was very pleasant and took it away to be fixed. One minute later, the waitress came back to the table with the same steak, and the chef was right behind her with an attitude telling me I should have ordered it rare. Like he has never overcooked a steak in his life. Give me a break. How rude! That pretty much ruined the experience for me. The menu said the steak was accompanied by a roasted corn, tomato, and cornbread salad. There was absolutely no trace of cornbread on the plate, and no word of a lie, there was six kernels of corn on the plate. AND...the corn was not roasted in the least. I actually left feeling bad for the chef that at this point in his career he chooses to react to a simple situation with an easy fix in that manner. I have been coming to DeWolf for the past year, and my recently had the worst experience with the service, but I always have enjoyed the food the Shrimp Pakora is my favorite appetizer I always get it and the Steamed Mussel's in the saffron wine is unbelievable. I went there with my girlfriends and got a young girl server who came up to the table bearing an attitude like we were ruining her night and immediately just ask what we would like to drink no introduction nothing. She was rude screwed up my entree my friends entree was cooked wrong it was just a total nightmare But my and my friends decided to try it again and we enjoy the food so we said lets give it another shot. We had this waiter his name was dominick and from the start I new the awesome DeWolf experience was coming back he walk up to the table with a smile,welcomed us to DeWolf handed us all the menu's asked us if we would like to look at the wine menu, explained special cocktails they had and filled up all our waters within the first two minutes of sitting down we all ordered appetizers entrees and drink and everything came out in a timely manner it was getting towards the end of our meal and he had already convinced one of my friends for a brownie dessert so we all ended up getting dessert...We walked out of DeWolf full and satisfied...Actual was one of my favorite DeWolf Tavern nights Best server you have! read more

DeWolf Tavern showed my wife and I one of the best nights out we have had in a while. We sat at the bar in the tavern area on Saturday night. Our bartender was Logan who was absolutely wonderful. He started us off with a Miss Louise which my wife had. She said "it was perfectly crafted and tasted delicious". I enjoyed a Hardcore chimera Imperial IPA on draft which is of course always great. Since Logan's recommendations where 2 for 2 so far we asked what he thought we should enjoy for an app. He recommended the Lobster Popover. Its was an excellent choice. The sherry cream sauce was amazing, and the chef did a wonderful job of having a perfect portion of lobster in the dish. For our entrees we enjoyed the Pork Shank and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. The Pork Shank was cooked to perfection while the cheddar grits that accompanied it were great, best I have had around Bristol. The Bacon Wrapped Scallops that my wife enjoyed where amazing. She truly enjoyed the chestnut spatzle that came along with the dish. We will Definitely be going back to DeWolf Tavern in the near future to receive some more of the best food and service we have had! read more

Do NOT go here if you like a leisurely dinner. From the minute we sat down, until when we were putting on our coats to leave, we felt rushed. We were not a loud and unruly group, yet we felt most unwelcome. The waitress grabbed the menus out of our hands, and after dinner, when my husband requested a Jamaican coffee he was told the French Press was out of service. My adult son requested a cappuccino...surprise, the espresso machine was also out of service! The filet mignon and lamb were both overcooked, the popover was soggy, the french fries cold. No wet cloths were brought for the two people who had ordered whole lobster, there's no way to avoid messy hands when one orders lobster. On the positive side: the naan pizza was excellent, the paprika chicken appetizer delicious, and the seafood sandwich yummy. Our party spent $500, and we won't be going back...I would have felt the same way if we had only spent $100, rudeness and being rushed on the part of the staff is inexcusable. I have had many experiences at DeWolf Tavern but my last experience was just so good I remember how this is my favorite place in bristol Well let me start off by say I tried that new fine dining place Natalia's in the Sky and it was the night after that which was an awful experience that I decided I needed to go to a real restaurant We made reservation and came into a packed restaurant and sat right away we prefer downstairs but we made reservations upstairs because we wanted to be a little more romantic. We started with naan bread for appetizers and then I had the vegetarian entree and I am not a vegetarian I just enjoy it so much I got the brussels sprout cornbread hash the cauliflower manchurian and the corn pablano hash My husband has the sweet potato gnocchi and it was just soo delicious a little pricey for what was served but the atmosphere is so worth it. Service was impeccable and the drinks were just unbelievable Don't under estimate what you have Bristol DeWolf Tavern is the best establishment around here and it took me to eat at another "fine dining place" to realize what we have read more

The menu is a little pricey and very limited but we had the gift certificate which I mentioned upon sitting and the server said it was ok. I ordered something more expensive than I normally would for lunch since the gift certificate had a minimum purchase amount. I had the grilled flat iron steak with fries for $19 The meal was very disappointing. The steak was overcooked and the fries were heavily salted. shortly after we handed our server the gift certificate a manager came over and explained that they could not take the gift certificate. They said some employee did not have authorization or, something like that, to allow for the gift certificate. She did not offer any compensation and she waked away. Pretty poor customer service. As I said I normally wouldn't have order such an expensive lunch. Probably wouldn't haven't minded as much if the food was good. Next time we'll go to Quito's or Aidens. read more

I dined last Friday in the upstairs near the fireplace; which i was so happy that they had our table available! I ordered the pisco drink which was so good! My husband got a scotch on the rocks (not even sure what but i know he had a large selection). We got the shrimp pakora and the seafood sausage which were equally good. I couldnt find my usual chicken dish i like with the brussel sprout hash which was a little disappointing. The server suggested i get the hash as a side which made me happy. I ended up getting the duck special which was mind blowing, not even kidding. My husband got the lamb chops which he always likes. Would have liked more sauce though. Service never disappoints. As always, DeWolf never fails to deliver great food with fantastic service. Our last visit, we started at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our well crafted cocktails prepared by Luc and Sandy. The "Comfort Zone" is amazing!!! Later, we were directed upstairs to a lovely table, and greeted by the most delightful waiter. He was on point and very knowledgable about the menu and Chefs features. We had the fried green tomato salad with the lobster and avocado, fabulous to start. Then we ordered the seafood stew as well as the swordfish entree. All dishes were cleverly crafted and executed perfectly!!! Hats off to Chef Sai, and thank you Logan for a fantastic evening!! The food at Dewolf Tavern was completely inedible and the service poor. Do not order the vegetable plate. The curried cauliflower came covered in sticky, sweet barbecue sauce, the shredded brussels sprouts were barely visible in-between soggy croutons, the rice tasted old and tired and the refried beans were tasteless. The fried oysters were over-cooked and buried in a heavy breading that tasted like Pepperidge Farm stuffing. The ice tea was weak and came with very little ice. We were not given any silverware and when we asked for sugar for the ice tea it never came. The setting is lovely on the patio but there are many lovely outdoor spots to eat in Bristol. read more

DeWolf Tavern is a great find in East Bay area. Not only does it provide a vast history, but the views of the Bay are absolutely phenomenal. You can either eat downstairs for a more tavern feel, or dine upstairs for a fancier feeling. I went for the first time a couple weeks ago and have become hooked. The food is absolutely phenomenal! I've never liked brussel sprouts, but after trying their brussel sprout cornbread hash I am a changed woman! In addition, my server was very helpful in explaining the traditional Indian cooking methods used like their large tandoor oven. Went there on Friday for lunch I had a young male server he came up to the table with a smile and handed us a whole bunch of menus which was alittle too many it was perfect seating overlooking the harbor our server had water on the table before we had time to glance at the menu which was nice he recommended some cocktails my friend took his reccomendation and a beer sangria I just had an ice tea we took his recommendations for everything and had an amazing meal and he convinced us to get dessert the service was immaculate the food was delicious was slightly pricey but soooo worth it read more

I have gone to Bristol many times on business trips, but this visit was for fun to catch up with friends. Shame on you De Wolf!!!!! I will not be returning to this place, the conversation I heard from your bartender was so inappropriate and fowl. My wife was so uncomfortable hearing about this women and her sex life, not what we wanted to hear about at a fine dining restaurant , I haven't heard fowl talk at a truck stop!!!! Went to DeWolf last week for a night out with friends, and we were more than impressed. The four of us sat at the bar and our bartender, Luke, was an exceptional mixologist and was able to recommend drinks for all four of us. Our dinner was outstanding and the atmosphere was perfect. Their dishes are filling, and the dessert choices are ample. As a rule, I do not eat dessert after a meal, but here, that rule is kaput. So worth it.
