We visited Saint Martha for the first time last Friday evening. We were warmly greeted by Co-Owner Corinne who showed us our lovely, banquette-style table for 4 with a window view. Saint Martha exudes an old-world, Euro-Chic charm that immediately wraps you in a cozy, comfortable feeling. The details, from the original pressed-tin ceiling to the quaint glass/wood wall separating the kitchen, all add to the ambiance. We started with a complex Black Onion Garlic dip with house-made potato chips. Straight away, this puts everyone in a good mood. Our appetizers consisted of Roasted Farm Carrots & Beets, Lamb and Beef Meatballs, and Citrus & Radicchio Salad (party of 4). All were expertly crafted, creative, and delicious. Of special note, the sauce served with the meatballs was "finger-lickin good". For entrees, we ordered White Lamb Ragu, Roasted Lamb Loin, and Nettie & Ramp Pesto Fettucini. Each dish was beautifully presented and generated a lot of excitement at the table. The roasted lamb, which was perfectly cooked medium rare, was succulent. The house-made, melt-in-your mouth pappardelle pasta served with a ragu sauce put me in the zone. For dessert, we enjoyed 2 servings of a Frangipane buckwheat tart with Almond ice cream. This unusual creation was a homerun. A 32-ounce French Press was enjoyed by all. It's not easy to produce such a meal. Co-owner / Chef Keith and his staff deserve kudos for turning out consistent, extraordinary fare that transports you to a fine European café. Outstanding...a breath of fresh air. Intimate dining with a brilliant savory menu. There's nothing boring here in uniqueness of tastes and presentation. Not too sophisticated, just perfect. We had the soft shell green crab from Maine...beautifully and simply prepared in a ponzu sauce that was the perfect compliment. The season is short and availability is too so this was a first for us and a real treat. We also had the duck and the lamb entrees which are well balanced with the perfect veggies and sauces. Great bar with wonderful options for light drinkers, and hearty drinkers. Fresh new cocktail recipes and they have a large array of mock tails too. Introduced to Saint Martha by some friends. The interior is very different (nicer) than we remember from previous restaurants in this space. The menu isn't overly extensive but we all found dishes that appealed to us. My wife and I shared the Napa Caesar salad - very tasty and unique. I had the White Lamb Ragu with home-made papperdelle (fabulous, rich, flavorful). Wife had the Artichoke Fettuccini with cured egg and she loved it. I started with the Instant Crush, an upgrade from a traditional margarita. She had the orange wine which was bright, not overly sweet and surprisingly refreshing. Service was spot on. Ambiance was lively (small place with as many tables as could comfortably be set). Parking is easy. We'll be back! read more

Visiting a friend in Warren for the week. On our last evening I had such an incredible surprise. This little jewel of a place had us incredulous with every mouthful. Delicious flavours, layered and complementing each other with every bite. The salad and the croquettes on a bed of beans so flavorful but to my absolute astonishment the dessert I could not believe they had il Monte Bianco, typical of my northern Italy region, a cream of chestnuts with merengue and whipped cream, Subtle flavours and not too sweet. Bravissimi. That was worth the trip alone. Never seen it on any menus I have come across in the USA. Beautiful and professional service. A must go to quaint restaurant. read more

Saint Martha keeps crushing it! They are consistently top-notch creating dishes with multiple layers of delightful flavors and an imaginative cocktail menu. These people care - a lot - about welcoming people to enjoy the experience; it was so sweet to be greeted with a personalized Happy Birthday menu. Green crab pasta and an epically tender, moist, and flavorful pork chop were the stars on the table. Wow. It was so exceptional here that we came two nights in a row. Food was out of this world. Loved the cozy atmosphere. Service was great too. For apps, get the perfectly cooked scallops on a tasty parsnip puree. You MUST also get the meatballs...my husband's family is Italian so we would never order meatballs when going out...but these were SO delicious. The pasta dishes were top notch. Fettuccine with artichoke is such an awesome combo. The ragu easily competes with our favorites at Al Forno and Persimmon. The ravioli had such depth of flavor. Our favorite meat dish was the duck. I could go on and on - the chef deserves a James Beard nomination, thank god he made it to R.I. Don't miss on desserts. We loved the mocktails and house made sodas too! read more

Amazing dining experience. The welcoming staff, the lovingly prepared and inventive dishes and the cozy atmosphere. We took a chance and called the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us. We immediately got a call back and the owner Corrine saved us 2 seats at the bar. I love bar seating! Gwen our bartender and server greeted us with complimentary sparking water!! More restaurants should offer this. Then I see they had a Lambrusco by the glass...a rarity. So cold and deliciously sparkling. The menu is quite varied that it was difficult deciding what to try. We started with the Schiacciata and shared the Caesar salad. The best Caesar salad I ever had. As we were sharing it I noticed that Esme brought over 2 spoons before the salad was served. First time I didn't have to ask when sharing a salad. A small gesture for a restaurant but it spoke volumes. The vibe throughout the restaurant was so convivial and everyone felt like a treasured guest at a dear friend's for dinner. Then it was on to the next course...I had the White Lamb Ragu with house made Papparadelle. Do not miss this dish if you are a lamb lover like me. It melted in your mouth and the flavor profile was out of this world. My friend ordered the Lamb and beef meatballs and the crispy potatoes and it was stupendous. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return. Cons: portion of appetizers for the price was really ridiculous. We had 3 appetizers and felt the same about all 3. Cocktails were just ok. Pros: we had some of the most amazing entrees here we will not forget and will be back for. White lamb Ragu and the duck are incredible!! Service was great. Ok--- so please read this to understand the 5 stars. They have a limited menu--- so review it first as you will not be happy if you expect more options in specials etc. Do not expect typical beverage options--- there is no Grey Goose, Tito's, typical wine brands and etc. so if you need your grey goose martini to make your dinner this is not the place for you. However, it is Just such a special place that is beaming with great service, quaint atmosphere, and some of the most brilliantly cooked food. You have to be open minded and enjoy the vibe. The staff are like a warm hug when you walk in. It is kind of like walking into one of your cool friends house of dinner--- everything may not be perfect but they do everything to make it special for you. Menu is different in eclectic. The duck was absolutely a combination of textures and flavors you never thought you would like. I don't eat duck--- but this night I kept asking my fiancé for another bite. They offer complimentary sparking water or still. How stinking cool is that? In a time when restaurants charge for everything they found a way to give it patrons something to make them feel special. Yes sparking water did it for me. I had the Rabbit pasta dish. I was so inspired I thought I would step outside of my comfort zone. My fiancé loved it--- but I just couldn't get beyond the mental block I was eating Rabbit. Drinks were great, prices reasonable for quality of food, service just outstanding. First time! We sat at the bar. There was a cool crowd. The menu is seasonal, highlighting local ingredients, with plates for a three course meal, we obliged! We started with the caesar salad, it was perfectly overdressed, with fresh toasted croutons. They gifted us the bread and butter. Order this! Both were homemade, the butter was sprinkled with a crispy, fancy cheese. Second course, meatballs, they were lamb and they were delicious, dressed with local mushrooms and mint, and the homemade gnocchi dish. Third course, we probably didn't need two mains, but we couldn't decide between the the pork shoulder and the rabbit stew. The rabbit stew was hot, temperature hot, so we started with the pork. The pork was fantastic, served with sweet potatoes and cabbage, topped with an addictive green sauce, we cleared plate! Back to the rabbit strew, yum, more local mushrooms! But we were so full, we packed the rest for leftovers. We took a break eating and admired the space, the chef, said hello and we chatted; they sourced the stained glass from NH, the the sconces from a VFW, the plates and barware were handpicked and secondhand, from bone china to leopard print. We were so full, but we had to try the chocolate cake. It was special too, with red jelly and figs. We left happy. We even ate the leftovers, and we never eat leftovers. This is a long overdue review for this amazing restaurant! My friends and I had a wonderful time at Saint Martha's last month. The cocktails, the vibe and the food were absolutely incredible (I am still dreaming of my vegan beet gnocchi that their chef prepared with so much love!) Everything we had was prepared with so much thought and care - Saint Martha's is getting everything right. Our server was so lovely, helpful and patient. A cold and noisy place with arrogant vibes! The hostess asked my husband and me if we had a reservation, and we said "yes." She directed us to a tiny table along a crowded wall. Another, better table was empty, but she said it was going to be set up for a table of four. The better table remained empty during our meal. The woman did not greet us, or welcome us, or ask if we had dined there before -- no greeting whatsoever! It was a wet, chilly evening, and the AC was blowing. We counted nine people wearing coats or jackets, and the woman at the window table wore a white knit poncho and sat with her arms crossed in a manner that suggested to me she was chilly, too. We asked our waitress if the AC could be turned down, and she said she would look into it for us, but we froze during the entire meal. The food was good, but not excellent. My summer squash pasta dish was inventive, and I liked that it was different. However, it was a bit bland. I was disappointed that they didn't offer cracked pepper from a pepper mill for my salad or fresh-grated Parmesan cheese for my pasta. I always appreciate these offerings and enjoy a caring restaurant that is sensitive to personal preferences. It wasn't quiet! I understand it's a small restaurant, but the man sitting right next to us had a couple of beers and a booming voice. He flung his arms a couple of times in our direction, too. My husband and I had difficulty hearing one another. When we got up to leave, the hostess and possibly the owner never said "goodbye or thank you", not even a smile or a nod. Honestly, they couldn't care less that you spent hard-earned money there. I am writing this review to give feedback to a relatively new restaurant. We will not be going back, but someone could be more prepared for this atmosphere, service, and food than we were. My biggest tip: Be prepared for tiny tables placed close together. read more

Very few restaurants achieve the trifecta of wonderful food, service and ambience. This is one of them. Saint Martha is balanced in a remarkable way for a brand new restaurant. You can tell it's run by grown ups and this is no one's first rodeo. The menu features local seasonal ingredients and both proteins and vegetables are given the respect they deserve. There's plenty here to satisfy the more conservative palate (Caesar salad, Hunter's chicken) but enough to entertain the more adventurous palate (lamb with mint and kumquats, orange and fennel salad with green olives and walnuts). The cooking is disciplined and finely tuned. Wise enough to know when to show restraint and joyous enough to explode with flavor without losing balance. Everything we ordered was drop dead delicious. Service was warm, genuine and well informed about the menu. Servers are gracious and patient without the slightest whiff of obsequiousness. There's a welcome dose of professionalism to the front of the house staff as well. You get the sense that they know their stuff and are happy to be there. The ambiance also strikes a remarkable balance. It hits the sweet spot between great dinner party but not so loud you have to shout. Very comfortable banquettes and unusual use of fabrics, glass and tin ceiling (which, contrary to a recent review is original, not faux) make for a relaxed but visually interesting room. Combined with the customer energy, you feel happy to be there when you first walk in and that feeling only grows as the night goes on. In short, Saint Martha hits it out of the ballpark. Been here many times and everything we have tried was amazing. Appetizers, main courses, and especially the desserts are excellent. The service has always been top notch, friendly and efficient. Cozy interior and they added a bar which is a great addition. Excellent wine and beer selection that seem to rotate quite a bit. Saturday night in Warren, RI--Saint Martha Restaurant Most of my favorite restaurants have been small, and Saint Martha in Warren, RI, is no exception. There's something about an intimate space that invites both comfort and care. It reminded me of Poppi's Greek Taverna, in Eugene, OR, where the 13 tables were numbered 0 through 12, or The Crocodile Bistro in Newhall, CA, where tables 2 through 14 made up the entire dining room. Even Salvation Café, in Newport, RI, in its earlier days, had about as many tables--just enough to keep things lively without losing that personal touch. We had reservations this Saturday night, and Saint Martha was already packed with happy, smiling diners when we arrived. The one-page menu is perfectly sized for the cozy, well-appointed space. The beer and wine selection is eclectic, and the cocktail list refreshing and well-curated. It feels fitting that the restaurant is named after Saint Martha, the patron saint of cooks, servants, and hospitality workers. According to tradition, Martha was known for her generous spirit and her gifts in the kitchen, welcoming friends and strangers alike with warmth and nourishment. In many ways, the atmosphere at Saint Martha carries her legacy forward--an embrace of food, fellowship, and a little bit of quiet magic in every dish. We started with two orders of crispy fried oysters, topped with Maine uni, yuzu salmon roe, and a touch of spicy mayo--absolutely delicious. We also shared the Fennel and Cara Cara Salad, a bright, refreshing plate of shaved fennel, feta, pomegranate seeds, Cara Cara orange wedges, and crunchy apple and cabbage. For entrées, we ordered four dishes: Rare duck breast with cherry-port sauce, lamb loin chops with mint oil and kumquat, fettuccine with artichokes in a light cream sauce, and tautog with saffron aioli, white wine, and braised artichokes. Each portion was generous without being overwhelming, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and creativity on offer. Saint Martha is a true gem. Highly recommend it.
