My 15 year old Boxer, Elie, has hip dysplasia and pain. I went into Dexter's, on the desperate side, knowing I needed something for her but not exactly sure what. The sales lady (dang that I didn't ask her name!) walked me through several products, asking this and that, to determine which would be best for Elie. I actually picked up a very expensive CBD product. My Sales Lady reviewed it and said that the next product down in price would be more suited for Elie. My Sales Lady could have gotten more money from me because I was stressed to help Elie with her pain but she didn't. She help me find the best products that would help Elie. She also offered some more suggestions incase what I bought didn't help and how long I had to return them if they didn't work. I so appreciate the staff at Dexter's Carlsbad. Last night was the second time my husband and I came in after having dinner at hooked on sushi. I unfortunately forgot to ask the woman working the front desk's name but she has shoulder length blonde hair, is SUPER kind and friendly and always compliments my perfume We're in the process of trying to find a kibble and some treats for our chug (half pug half chihuahua) that won't irritate her skin and cause a flare up of itchiness in her skin. We recently started putting salmon oil on top of her kibble and the woman working the front desk was SO helpful as always and we were soo appreciative and love supporting local shops. Needless to say, last night when we got home our Winnie girl absolutely LOVED her new kibble and all the new treats we got her. We will definitely keep coming back. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for more natural/healthier sources of food for their fur babies, you won't be disappointed! They also have the cutest toys and little outfits, and also my favorite...they offer little doggy birthday cakes and cupcakes. I just started going here as we moved near their Carlsbad location. I asked one of the staff for their recommendation on a toy that my doberman could chew and not destroy. She went to the back and brought back a toy made from fire hose material and said this was super tough and perfect for him. I was stoked to get it home and try out out. I threw it for him once - he brought it right back and his teeth had already pierced it. I took the toy back with the receipt and asked if I could get a refund or exchange it. The guy behind the counter was super short and said "we don't do refunds on toys" - well that's the last time I shop at this place. $30 wasted. I left the ruined toy on the counter and asked him to throw it out. I recommend Carlsbad Pet & Feed - they're off poinsettia. Much nicer staff and they actually understand customer service. read more

We weren't here long at all, but oh my cuteness!!! We stood looking at cakes for a couple minutes deciding on which one we wanted for our pup. They even have frozen yogurts, cupcakes, and different sized cakes. While we were looking, one of the sweet workers said they were also human grade, and we can have some too, which I think is cool. Excellent service. Excellent range of high-quality dog food. I came here because my dog was on hydrolyzed protein and needed a novel protein. I am able to pick up quail and she's doing great on it. They have it now on automatic order for me to pick up once a week. If your dog is healthy and has a normal diet you're going to find a lot of amazing treats. The only recommendation I can have is don't do what I did which was thinking when my dog was young I wanted to give her everything and keep it interesting. The problem was when she had dietary problems, it was hard to find something that didn't bother her. But that has nothing to do with this place. Just saying they have so many interesting and enticing treats that you will have to get more dogs so you can use them all. read more
