Wow. OK, I searched for "best tacos in Fort Collins" so I expected something great. The carne asada taco was very good, but the bandito was taco heaven! Those crunchy cheese bits put it right over the top! And the spicy chocolate horchata -- wrap your consciousness around a cross between Mexican hot chocolate & icy horchata. My husband could taste the coconut milk but I didn't find it distracting. Oh, the rice & beans are fried together as the gods intended -- and us nonhipsters can skip the kale! Don't miss this place. Fun little place, tucked away into an alley. Good (really good, actually) tacos! It's also nice to see a non-chain place close to CSU, especially one that supports other independent businesses. Staff is friendly and has great taste in late 90s early 2000s alt rock. I would recommend getting 2 tacos for a light lunch, hungry folks may want 3. Either way, one is a snack, not lunch. I had the bandito taco. The pork was nicely seasoned and the cheese crunchies were a nice touch. Don't forget the tapatio for extra kick! The hibiscus refresher was just okay. I saw another post by a parent of a picky eater - and the staff must've taken that to heart because my picky eater was thrilled with his cheese quesadilla - which was no frills and right up his alley. My husband and I each tried 3 different kinds of tacos and the chips and queso. They were all fine, unfortunately nothing we hadn't tasted before, but it's definitely worth a trip back to see what else the menu holds. Good stuff! We first stumbled upon this place after a day (and night) of beer tasting. We were looking for a simple, low key, and convenient dinner, and DGT hit the spot...so much so that we ate their a few days later after another all day beer fest for two. Their menu is pretty small, but has several vegetarian and meat options. Their $3 tacos are "street style" (small, open faced, etc.). I think the price is a little high for the size, as it will likely take 3 tacos to satisfy. The pork tacos was our favorite of the bunch. I love that they throw them on the grill with some cheese so you get that fried cheese awesomeness that hangs off the side of the taco. We also had their rice and beans. Very affordable, very good. One of my favorites, if not my favorite place I've eaten in Fort Collins. The menu boasts "Authentic American style tacos." I suppose any taco made in America is authentic but I was hardly blown away by my selections. I ordered the thai peanut chicken taco, their version of nachos and some sort of tea beverage. The taco had all of the right components but didn't have much flavor. It was a bit dry and hard to choke down. The nachos aren't what you will be expecting. It's actually more of an open face quesadilla cut into triangles and sprinkled with what I am assuming is Lowery's seasoning salt. Don't get a beverage from here unless you like highly sweetened drinks. I couldn't drink mine even after I watered it down. I can certainly understand why people like this place. It has some charm. Food is excellent. The bowls and the tacos are quite good. Be sure to try their brown rice. It's a nice spin. Prices are high for what you get and the wait is way too long. My husband and I had a great lunch date at Dam Good Tacos this afternoon. The place was not busy at all, so it was easy to get a table. The guys behind the counter were friendly. My husband and I ordered 2 Taco Plates with Veggie Tacos. Amazing! The best Mexican food I've had so far. The food was so light and delicious..that you don't feel super stuffed walking out of the place. (Laughs). Try the Jerry Palmer Tea it's delicious! Ok, this place is a liitle hard to find, park on the street and walk down the alley. Totally worth it. I got the pork taco made into a burrito. They up sized it with some delicious sour cream and crispy cheese. Yum.. i absolutely want to go back and try more. Service was fast and friendly. We didn't mean to end up here but we're really glad we did. A cozy little alleyway nook nestled into downtown Ft. Collins. This place is perfect for vegans, vegetarians ( a large majority of my friend group ) & meat eaters ! They were extremely flexible and willing to modify any dish !!!! The stars of this send included : the veggie deluxe, the Cajun chicken, the bandito, and the special poblano taco of the day. The chips and Queso were just ehh. The chips were too thick and the dip was comparable to any store bought brand. This place provides counter service but the staff members were super kind ( smooth ) and very approachable (sexy). read more

I love this place. It is the best place in town to get a cheap, healthy meal on the go. It is right below Alley Cat so it is a good place to get a meal while studying upstairs (they allow Dam Good Tacos food upstairs). Also, the staff is wonderful. They really seem to love what they do and you can taste it in their tacos. As for a Chef's Special and get an off the menu taco. They also have a yummy cold hibiscus tea they brew from scratch and you can get 3 tacos and tea for $10- can't beat that. If you are a vegan or a vegetarian, this is also a good place to go. Apparently, they also try to buy everything as local as they can and trade their compost for eggs from a local farmer, I think that is pretty awesome. More restaurants should do this. Love, love, loved their tacos. Just had the carne asada and the Thai chicken- both absolutely delicious. They were made with good, local ingredients and that attention to detail was something you could taste. My only problem with it is that at $3 a taco it becomes expensive. First, let's discuss the parking. It's impossible! It's not that big of a deal now that I'm aware of it but for a first-timer, it was almost enough to make me not bother. Once I finally got to the place my friend and I were greeted by a friendly guy waiting patiently to take our order while we reviewed the menu boards. We shared an order of their version of nachos. They were good and even though I loved the crispy cheese bits, they were quite messy to eat as a result. I got the Earth, Wind, and Fire taco as well as the Bandito taco. Apparently I missed the party where they clearly state the tacos are served "authentic American" style in flour tortillas because I was highly disappointed they weren't corn. However, they were still pretty darn good! (And you can request corn. Now I know!) If you're not sure if you'll like tofu, try it here! The Earth, Wind, and Fire taco was the best!! I think the best part about this place is that you can order down stairs and if you are studying up in the Alley Cat they will bring your food to you. Visited here after hearing a few reviews that the food was really good. The tacos are amazing good bit it ended there. For the price I was expecting larger portion sizes. The specialty taco was weak on ingredients and didn't seem to have everything in the menu said it would. Not worth the extra dollar. The staff was one person and she worked really hard and cooked everything tasty and perfect. I totally agree with previous reviews that it makes an awesome snack and not a meal. First I tried the cajun chicken taco, which had about as much flavor as a cup of water. I ate two bites and then threw it away. The carne asada taco I had was a little better, at least enough for me to finish eating most of it, but still really bland and disappointing. We went here after I read all of the great reviews. I am guessing that, being so close to a college and the meat being so greasy, that kids must have written most of the reviews. We tried the pork and beef tacos, and my friend had a vege salad. The salad was warm, which she thought was odd and my husband and I both did not care for the tacos. I thought the meat was greasy and he thought they needed more fresh ingredients. All in all, it was sadly a missed opportunity to try something good and new in a place that we don't usually visit. Cool place! We got a few tacos - pork, bandito, thai chicken, greek and one more that i forget. We were visiting and the guy we were renting from would not stop raving about dam good tacos!
