Stumbled upon this gem & after a delicious brunch we found ourselves back again the next night for dinner.

Literally the best place for dinner in Fort Collins, it rivals some Michelin spots I've been to. One of the best dressings on a simple starter salad I've ever had; I ate it like chips. Fresh, quality ingredients, nothing too fancy, just incredible cooking technique for a reasonable "nice dinner" price. The ambiance is small and humble, but still feels like a nice night out. Service is great, and they all look like they've been chosen from a casting agency for a small town restaurant drama. Warning if you have a vertical ID: even if you can legally drink, they might not take it and WILL lecture you. read more

Solid neighborhood spot in Old Town Fort Collins, would go back. Walked in expecting a quaint farm-to-table place and got exactly that, plus a buzzing bar scene I wasn't ready for. The Lamb Merguez Meatballs were the standout. Spiced, saucy, topped with something cool and creamy, blew my tastebuds away. The Halibut Ceviche was very good and big enough to share with the table. The Regional Salad held its own as a side. Beer, wine, and full bar are all well stocked, and the bar itself was packed with what looked like regulars catching up. Service was friendly from the door to the table. No complaints there. Heads up on the noise. For the first 15 minutes we couldn't hear the couple sitting across from us. Once the party behind us cleared out, it dropped to a normal restaurant volume, but if you're picky about hearing your dinner conversation, ask for a table away from the bar side. Not cheap, but it never claimed to be. You're paying for local sourcing and a place people actually want to hang out at. Go for the meatballs and the ceviche. Come early or sit on the patio if you want to talk. Come hungry and thirsty if you just want to be in the mix. read more

Met a friend for brunch on a Saturday morning. We did have a reservation. We arrived 10 minutes prior and there was a line. They seemed short handed as it took until 15 minutes later for us to be able to let someone know we were there for our reservation. We were then seated in a side room of sorts. Our server came and welcomed us and snagged our drink order while we looked over the menu. A while later he returned with our beverages and took our food order. I chose to enjoy a glass of Sparkling Rosé by Gruet out of New Mexico. Lovely. The decor is an interesting mix of things. Odds and ends that come together to be their vibe. They have lots of great plants throughout the building as well. Our food arrived and we enjoyed it thoroughly. I chose to get the shrimp and grits. I added on a side of their collard greens. Those were delicious. the shrimp was well seasoned and grilled on top of some lovely, cheesy poblano grits. Two basted eggs crowned grits with a crispy tortilla strip garnish. My friend gave me her slice of focaccia toast. That was hearty. Being that we were in a side room and no one else was seated at the immediate tables, it was easy to be forgotten. We had to flag down our server to get our check so we could head on our way. I do understand how hard it is when short staffed. Overall solid beverage choices and great food. This lovely place is mostly farm to table, so very fresh. The food was delicious. The tables were reclaimed wood. The service was top notch! I had their scallops over pureed leeks, yum!! A fresh salad, which could possible be the best salad I have had in awhile. And, I had their meatballs, sitting in a rich tomatoes sauce. The presentation was great and thr taste was better. However, the service was the best part. My only issue was that I was not a fan of their focassia bread. It was too oily and not soft. Otherwise, I would highly recommend trying this place. Solid 7/10. The service and ambiance were great. We started with the Prosciutto and Burrata Panzanella, which had a nice balance of sweetness, creaminess, tanginess, and saltiness. Next was the Clam Chowder soup, which was good but could have used a little more clam. I was also interested in the Salmon Belly Wonton; however, I couldn't tell whether the azuki was koshian or tsubuan. Since I dislike tsubuan and didn't want to bother the waiter, I decided not to order it. For the mains, we ordered the Clam and Mussel Chowder and the Oxtail Risotto. Since we had already tried the clam chowder, I think the mussels would have worked better in a white wine sauce rather than another chowder-based dish. The highlight of the risotto was the crispy fried brown beech mushrooms, which added great texture and flavor. The oxtail itself was a bit underseasoned, though the risotto itself overall had good flavor. It would have been even better if the oxtail had been more seasoned, mixed into the risotto, or perhaps replaced with seasoned shrimp/scallop. For dessert, I had the Affogato. It was good, but I would have liked a bit more ice cream for a $10 dessert. They also added an extra charge for "kitchen wage." While I don't mind supporting local restaurants, I wish it had been mentioned beforehand. Overall, I appreciated the creativity of the menu, but it could use a little more refinement. read more

What a great brunch spot. The Regional is delicious. Many places do a few things well and the rest are only OK - that isn't the case here. Every aspect of my sweet and savory meal was great. The scrambled eggs were light and delicious. The bacon was crunchy and done perfectly, and the waffle with berry compote and syrup hit the spot. The wife got the 2 egg breakfast with rosemary focaccia, sausage, and hash browns. She loved everything. The decor is great inside - don't let the relatively small front room dissuade you from sitting inside - it opens up into a great dining area with a bar. This was the third time my boyfriend and I had dinner at the Regional. We were celebrating a special occasion, and had requested a table in the back dining room when we made the reservation. When we arrived on time, we were told our table was given away and would not be available. They placed us in the front bar next to a window. It was very loud and cold, so we asked to be moved. The server and owner were super rude to us about our request. We shared a risotto dish and an appetizer. Both were terrible - salty and cold. The waitress just rolled her eyes at us when she asked how the food was, and we told her the truth. No apology - no offer to make it right. We have both had delicious risotto in this country and out, and what was served to us was a tasteless bowl of sticky rice for almost $50. We could barely eat the food, so we went and got a slice of pizza afterward. We will never go back to this restaurant again! What a disappointment to spend a special occasion at a high-priced restaurant that delivers low quality food and terrible customer service. It wasn't us, it was definitely them! We are well traveled, loyal customers, and frequent many other restaurants that provide us with high-quality cuisine and impeccable service. No need for the Regional! read more

Came for a graduation celebration this weekend and was pleasantly surprised by my meal at the regional. I loved the scallops as a main dish paired with the regional salad. The salad is light but flavorful, and the scallops were buttery paired with the savory leeks. The star was the carrot cake! The frosting was creamy and delicious and I loved the little raisins and dried fruit in the cake. Our waiter was very busy, but we still got our food in a timely manner. I tried this restaurant based on reviews and it was more of a specialty experience than I was expecting. The menus wasn't as well rounded as I would have liked so I opted for vegetarian options, roasted cauliflower and garlic ghee fries. The fries were not hot and extremely salty. I may have enjoyed the cauliflower more if paired with something else. The waitress was very nice and I loved the cozy rustic decor of the restaurant. We are local and love our local restaurants so we wanted to love the regional. I was given a recommendation for the scallops by a friend. The dish fell short. Not just short, it was not edible. I sent them back and received another of the same. The wait staff tasted it and agreed, not edible. We were comped the scallops. It seemed obvious to comp a meal that I couldn't eat. I asked for the entire night to be comped, not because everything was bad but because my dinner was supposed to be the star and it was not. The oysters were good and my martini was good. This restaurant is a real taste of Fort Colllins. Even a nice, expensive restaurant and locals wear flannel and boots. No need to dress up. Very rustic with a cozy vibe. The chefs special was a delicious cod in a bowl with broth and bok choy. It was delightful. One of my companions ordered the salmon from the menu and it was basically the exact bowl with salmon. The squash with feta and nuts made a lovely main course for my other friend. The only snafu was that the bottle of wine ordered did not arrive until we were at least half way finished with our entrees. Only saw one waitress and she had a lot of tables to serve. Tried this for the first time for what we thought was "lunch." Turns out it was only brunch with an early closing -- meaning (as we discovered) that they would be out of things we wanted by the time we ordered. Took forever to get our food though the restaurant wasn't booked out. The burger was "meh", fries were actually good, and the salad was fresh but not as pictured on the website. Coffee got sent back when it was delivered lukewarm. Second attempt seemed fine but had to ask for refills. Re the salad: what we got was basically butter lettuce with a modicum of pickled something and a scatter of sliced almonds. Would have loved to have what was pictured below but not given. Delicious food with excellent service. I love the small plates so that I can try a few different things. My favorites are the scallops with creamed leeks, the prawn cacio e pepe, bacon corn chowder (get the focaccia to dip), and the Amish cheesecake. Oysters and mussels aren't my jam but my husband loves them and says the ones here are some of the best he has had. The pork chop and salmon mazeman are also really good. I have yet to have an enjoyable evening meal at The Regional (I've tried three times now), but the brunch wasn't too bad. I met two friends here and after ordering our mimosas we scanned the menu, debating what we should get so we could bite-bite-pass and share meals. I was torn between a sweet brunch or savory, and decided to get the fiesta hash - roasted potatoes, skirt steak, black beans, onions and green bell peppers with poached eggs. While the potatoes were perfectly seasoned, the steak was pretty tough and the vegetables seemed undercooked. The portion size was also incredibly small for the hefty price of $17, and I was not a fan of their house-made focaccia which had an odd texture when you're expecting a traditional focaccia. My first dining partner went for the breakfast burrito which was gigantic. He wasn't a huge fan of how sweet the five-spice on the carnitas was, but didn't have much else to say about it. My other friend went for the buttermilk pancakes and those were absolutely out of this world! Crispy edges with a delightfully pillowy center , fried rosemary, charred lemon syrup and honey butter topped with fresh grapefruit. We requested two times the amount of syrup to finish these up, but I would go out of my way specifically (and only, and this point) for these pancakes! Have to update this one. First off, no complaints about the food. Food is very good, and often excellent. Service is a little spotty, and tonight was painfully slow, even though we were early and business was light. This was our 4th time eating here and that speaks well considering the amount of competition in the area. Tonight was date night for our 22nd anniversary, and it was nearly ruined by an adjacent table with two out of control children who literally screamed at the top of their lungs throughout their stay. Also ran amok around their table and made a few trips to the outside seating where they baited the attention of everyone by continuing to scream and climb over whatever they could find. You might be thinking that it would be a one-off event and the parents were strictly to blame, but I recognized this family from a previous visit wherein they sat at the same table while their kids ruined the ambience of this nice restaurant. These people are friends, or family, or partners with the proprietors in my observation. I say this because the people working behind the bar were chatting them up and even sitting with them completely oblivious to the out of control children. I wasn't the only one put off either. The folks at both tables adjacent to ours expressed dismay as well. Problem two was the oysters we ordered. It was happy hour and the waiter pointed out the oysters for a substantial 2.50 each. On the menu oysters are listed as East Coast, and West Coast for 4.75 each. Not understanding that the 2.50 oysters were a completely different item, I replied that I would take a dozen. The server had to know this, but said nothing. So when my bill came and I asked about it he feigned ignorance and the whole thing was just an irritation. I was buying them regardless, but like I said, "irritating ". Add to that the percentage tacked on for "kitchen help wages" and it just wasn't fun. read more

This was our first time dining in Fort Collins and I chose this place based on the high Yelp reviews. We didn't have a reservation but I only had to wait 5 mins for the team to clean off a table. We were greeted by our friendly server, Jax, who was nothing but kind and accommodating. He walked us through the menu and made thoughtful suggestions. We took in all of his suggestions and ordered the following: African Spiced Carrot Soup = a lovely, mildly spiced soup that I liked more than I thought I would. Truffle Mushroom Cheese Pretzel = this was my most favorite appetizer. The texture of the pretzel and creamy cheesy sauce was amazing. Regional Salad w Grilled Shrimp = just delicious with juicy shrimp on a bed of subtly dressed butter lettuce. West Coast Oysters = a great starter for those who love oysters like me. I got 1/2 dozen. Salmon on Israeli Couscous = the best salmon dish my hubby's ever had he states Mole Beef Short Rib = was absolutely yummy with a nice subtle mole sauce that wasn't overpowering. I made little soft tacos with the accompanied tortillas and slaw. ....and for dessert: Buttermilk Cheesecake in a jar = hubby inhaled that sucker; and I got the spiced date & butterscotch bread pudding = let's just say I was so full from dinner but I still made a sizable dent in that bad boy. Cute place, opens into a few other rooms. Cozy, bright. We went for brunch. Two of us had the hash, which was flavorful but not a traditional hash with lots of chopped potatoes. We had a burrito and a pancake at our table as well. Pancakes were great! Hash was more like a plate of sautéed veggies with eggs, but nice flavor- I just wanted more potatoes!:) . We had a great time here for dinner. The ambiance is really nice, the service was good too but most importantly we really enjoyed the food. The oysters were really good, very smooth and flavorful. I like oysters that have a little bit of a "sea water " flavor to them and these weren't that kind but they were still very tasty. The burger was one of the best I had lately but they should offer Tabasco or some other kind of spicy sauce free of charge. My wife loved the salad. I like the regional, they have a nice ambiance, good cocktails, great happy hour and seasonal menu. After eating here a 4 or 5 of times I have some takeaways . Their best menu items in terms of quality & value are on the happy hour, and also their fried chicken is good and raw oysters great which tasted fresh & nicely shucked hard to find outside of Denver. It can get rather loud because of the layout of the restaurant so not great for business meetings but fun for friends or dates. We've had some hits and some misses there. We've had one good steak and one decent. The pretzel is different from what you'd expect sometimes the sauce has been broken but never not tasty. The short rib mole is one unfortunately on the spectrum of the worst I've had in terms of flavor and price. It was small, super under-seasoned, dried out which is a bummer for short rib which is a dish that usually you slow braise to create a succulent flavor bomb. The mole was meh, the coleslaw was meh, the tortillas fell apart and plantains dried out. This is no where close to a $45 dish, even with inflation. We will come back again for their oysters and happy hour which has some yummy dishes and cocktails. read more

Absolutely outstanding - better than any fried chicken I have ever eaten including regular fried chicken.. the kind I used to be able to consume. Crispy, crunchy, savory with a drizzle of honey.. mouth watering goodness! Hubby enjoyed the beer cheese pretzel- definitely a shareable treat. He followed up with the scallops and gnocchi in beurre blanc sauce with fennel. His comments were similar to mine- the food was outstanding. Dessert for him- Vanilla Ice Cream.. made in house. Better than any well known commercially produced ice cream in his opinion. The staff were kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent customer service all around. The noise level was moderate, small restaurant that had very few empty seats. We could carry on a conversation with little difficulty in hearing each other. We will return on our next visit to Ft. Ambiance and service were great. 2 stars were deducted because of the food. Pretzel appetizer was dried out although the sauce was tasty. Cauliflower was excellent. Lamb meatballs were very tasty. Main courses were Duck Cassoulet (large enough for two of us to share) Short Ribs Mole and a Fried Lion's Mane Mushroom Sandwich. The duck came with a sliced breast which was delicious and a thigh and leg confit. It was accompanied by a white bean, chorizo and pork stew. The stew and the confit were excessively salty. The mole on the short rib fell short as it was very bitter. The slaw that came with it was meh and the plantains were ok. The lion's mane with garlic ghee fries was good but again excessively salty. Wonderful atmosphere started at the front door! The hostess read our party and arranged a seating that fit my wife and I better. Waitress was attentive and kept our water glasses full.
