Good flavors, but not very much protein. Soup is hearty but not heavy! Quick service though.

So delicious! I got the Signature noodles with wide noodles. Great flavors -- a decent kick of spice in my opinion, and you can always scope out the chili oil if you want it milder. Would definitely want to try the extra wide noodles next time.
Came here to have a lunch for my friend's birthday on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy with only a couple of other diners. Food was good! Funny story-- one of the waiters kept serving us food from another table and giving us the wrong order. They felt bad and gave us all free soft drinks! Honestly it was fine, we were just like pretttty sure we didn't order this. But appreciate the drinks!

Dunhuang is one of my favourite restaurants in the area -- I often order takeout for a nice bowl of noodles after work, but occasionally stop to dine-in with some friends in the area. My go-to order is the braised beef noodle soup 紅燒牛肉麵 -- I like getting the really thick noodles, but they have a few sizes to suit your taste. The broth is fragrant and savoury without being too heavy/oily, and the chunks of beef are plentiful and delicious -- so tender and juicy. Portion size is very large and is a fantastic value for the price. The classic lanzhou beef noodle soup 蘭州牛肉麵 is a great choice too -- I like the clear simplicity of the broth, which is light but carries the rich beef flavour very well. The beef slices are really flavourful and cooked to a perfect softness. Also, the zhajiang noodles 炸醬麵 is a particular favourite; the pork sauce is so generous and yummy, and the fresh, sliced cucumber is a lovely texture and flavour contrast. I also like getting some of their skewers when in a larger group -- the cumin can be a bit much at times haha but I'm a big fan of the beef and the potato skewers. Price point is really great -- portion sizes are large and when I order takeout, it's usually enough for ~1.5 meal's worth of food haha. Service is prompt and unassuming, and the restaurant itself is comfortably spacious.
While very minimalist inside, I was pretty impressed with my braised beef noodle soup and dumplings! Massive portion of noodles with the soup and thought everything was really well balanced and tasty. Very casual spot and one I can definitely see myself coming back to for a quick bowl of tasty soup.

the signature lanzhou beef noodles are pretty good but wasnt a fan of their normal braised beef noodles. its never been super busy when i visit, though service is sometimes a bit strange. on my last visit the waitress was very short taking my order and placed my bowl of noodles on the table do hastily it spilled a bit.
We were in the LIC area and were recommended to try DH out. Upon entering it wasn't that busy. We needed a table for 3 adults and 1 kid. They told us they only had one highchair and it was already being used. They wanted to seat us at a table without a back support and I asked if we could be seated at the table with the back support so that my child wouldn't fall. They gave us a hard time and kept insisting that they can't put the tables together and that it'd be too small for us and not comfortable which I don't understand at all. We said we didn't mind and it's much safer for my child to sit there and eventually he allowed us to sit there - although he didn't seem too happy about it. Not sure why since the restaurant was pretty much empty. Seemed like another group also had issues with seating arrangement and the restaurant also didn't want to sit them at the tables with the back support but eventually they also allowed them to. It took at least 5-10 minutes after we were seated for them to come take our order and that was after we flagged them down. They also didn't give us any water until we asked. I would say that overall service isn't the greatest here - surprising since it really wasn't all that busy. Although service isn't that great, the food is good. The soup noodles have a lot of flavor and meat is tender. Not sure that I'd come back to this location though given the service we received was sub par.
Great lunch or dinner spot with lots of seating available. Started with the marinated cucumbers which were insanely good! Super garlicky and the perfect crisp which was refreshing. Also ordered some pork and chive dumplings, note they do take some time to prepare however super delicious and homemade. I ordered the beef braised soup, the meat itself was tender and delicious, just wish there was more flavor/spice in the broth snd more veggies. Additional veggies cost like $5 extra.
I have to update my review and give Dun Huang 5/5 stars. You know why? It's one of the few places I keep coming back to time and time again for comfort food of beef soup with hand-pulled noodles. Quality is consistent and it always hits the spot. If you order the beef noodle soup for takeout and would rather eat at home, the wait for your takeout order is no longer than 10 minutes (usually closer to 5 minutes)!
It's good affordable noodle spot in LIC. They are so quick to serve you and the food is made so quick. You can tell people quickly stop by. It felt like a comfortable spot where I didn't need to dress up, I can just walk in casually. The woodear mushroom was big and had a great texture. It was very vinegary so I can see how the flavor would be tiring. Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup is so clean and fresh. You can ask to take out cilantro if that isn't your cup of tea but I would say that made the broth the way it is. The Mala Soup was a perfect spice if you aren't looking to kill your tastebuds, and it was creamy. I think they had peanut sauce in it which contributed to the creaminess. They were also so quick to serve so if you just walk in dying of hunger, you will soon be satiated :)
Whenever I'm in Queens- I stop by here for their noodles and bbq squid!! Ever since I discovered this spot a couple months ago I make a point to come here any time I have the chance. It's a regular spot for me- they have very quick service and the servers are kind. With the noodle soups, you can choose the type of noodle you want with the soup. There's a decent amount of seating inside with window seating options. What I've had: -BBQ squid: MUST! my constant go to every single time!! It usually comes on a stick and You can have it made spicy where it comes with some Szechuan spices on top. If I'm looking for protein, this is my definite go to. -Signature Lan Zhou Beef Noodles: MUST!! When you go to a noodle spot, you have to get noodles! And this bowl was NOT a disappointment!! BEAUTIFUL THOROUGH FLAVOR- such a nice cozy meal and the noodles- I chose regular noodles and I added bok choy to my bowl at an extra charge. This was such a pleasure and some of the best beef soup I have had yet. Will definitely be back here. read more

I came in during lunch time on the weekend and there was no wait. It was relatively empty with a couple other customers in the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and had a decent atmosphere. The music was not overly loud. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup with wide noodles and the food arrived quick. I was expecting the noodles to be wide like chow fun noodles but it was closer to the width of fresh pho noodles. The meat was tender but some of the noodles clumped together, which made it less soft and bouncy of a texture. The broth was light with a mild kick. You can't really go wrong with this for the price. read more

Solid choice. Stopped by on a Saturday night busy, mostly Asian clientele--good indicators. Food: very good. Eggplant appetizer lots of flavor and carefully assembled. Served cold, like revenge. Beef soup solid but not over the top awesome but satisfying. Noodles were star of the show. Beef bbq. Super heavy on the cumin to the point it was indistinguishable from lamb. Could have been but I needed a quart of h20 to recover. Service: rushed but efficient. Short staffed. Asked if my beef was lamb got a very curt "this is very good beef"! In Mandarin. Ambiance. Cafeteria style seating but not there for ambiance. Price. Reasonable for NYC. Good value IMO. Overall, four stars and I would go back. read more

I've been here multiple times now - service is always quick and friendly! Recommend their spicy dry noodles, the 大盘鸡 (big plate chicken), beef and lamb skewers, and the garlic pea shoots. One of my go to spots in the neighborhood! read more

I'm pretty familiar with this chain since I used to frequent it with friends in NJ, so it was nice to have one so close to my place in LIC. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup the two times I came here, and I wasn't disappointed. The broth was clean and flavorful, the noodles were fresh, and the meat was the right amount of tenderness. The Baos were also really good; my girlfriend and I were big fans of the Lamb Burger. I'm not sure if I haven't been back in a while, but in my opinion the LIC Dun Huang tasted a little better than the one I used to go in NJ. Service was fast; when I went to order take out they literally had my Beef Noodle Soup ready in less than 2 minutes. The restaurant itself looked pretty nice, even though I've never sat there for a meal. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some reasonably priced Asian food! read more
Interior was nice and new. Light, warm toned woods and warm lighting inside with picnic style seating (benches and longer tables). Lots of space and seating inside (esp for nyc!). Server was prompt and pleasant. 5/5 signature noodles - good broth, not heavy even though it was oily. It didnt coat my lips with oil though i was wiping my mouth through the meal. Noodles were a good, chewy texture. Decent amount of meat. Overall good portion. 3/5 lamb skewers - i dont really eat lamb in general but my friend said they're pretty good so we got one. Good seasoning. I dropped points for it being tough and fatty. I like that they were on a metal skewer but it was a little scary to eat off of when it first came out. My friend has been here more than a handful of times and said he gets the signature every time, hasnt tried anything else (as an entree) because its that good Great value for what you pay, nice portions. We didnt finish our noodles but we were both hungover would recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat in this area! read more
Solid 3-stars. The restaurant has a good space in a nice part of LIC, but lacks any ambiance or decor. Server misunderstood and didn't include an appetizer that was ordered, but it was fine as I wanted to leave as soon as we finished the entrees. The food: zha jjiang noodles were "ok". No substance in it other than the itty bits of minced meat. The sauce was weak and noodle portion was very small compared to the soup dishes. The braised beef soup was pretty good but very oily and for some reason had more noods than the other! The server kept hovering over our table and picking up our used napkins and felt like he wanted us to finish quickly at lunchtime. Glad I tried, but won't be going back. read more
Ordered beef noodle and it was tasty. Liked the broth, it seems it didnt have any msg in it. The portion was alright tho and the ambiance was great. Lots of people, and clean. The service was good, they were attentive and always asking question as to what it needed. Would definitely come back again in the future read more
Great new spot to the Long Island City area (located in court square). I have been to the location in grand central. It was a chilly day and I needed a nice bowl of hearty soup with noodles. I got the original beef noodle soup (I meant to get the signature one with spicy chili oil). This one was kind of bland. I would come back to try the other spicy one! There are a lot of noodles!!! I wish there was more meat. We got the egg plant salad and beef skewer (one order comes with 4) to share. We also got sauteed bak choy. Needed some veggies in my life. The beef skewer had so much flavor, I recommend trying it out! The egg plant salad was refreshing and it came cold with lots of garlic. We came around 12:10pm on a sat, no wait but there was a decent amount of people there. Staff is friendly and welcoming! I don't think you can make reservations; I tried looking but didn't find anything. Their website wasn't working. read more
We got the signature beef noodle soup with the chili oil on the side which is essentially the original without the chili oil. Wow. So clean and flavorful tasting, it didn't require the chili oil. I saw a review saying it was Bland but I'm not sure what they could mean. We got this with regular noodles, and the only complaint was that after a few minutes, the noodles were slightly too soft but hey, it's hot broth, what can you do. We also got the Zha Jiang noodles which were good, with thick noodles because we were curious. They were slightly thicker but not overly so. The chili oil here was so good together - it's not very spicy and has alot of flavor in itself. read more

Great spot to fill your bellies with noodles. Came here with friends after a long day at the climbing gym. The soup is fantastic and their noodles are handmade/homemade. I personally got the Signature Lan Zhou noodles with extra wide noodles. It's more chewy than the extra thin. The menu has an extensive options including some BBQ skewers and spicy apps. We topped up our meal with bubble tea nearby at Teazzi. Cheers read more

Pretty solid local noodle soup place for the LIC area. Authentic and perfect for a brisk fall day. I came in on a sunday afternoon, and was seated in less than a minute, ordered in less than five, and my food got to me in less than 5. WOODEAR MUSHROOM SALAD This packs a punch of heat that comes in subtly and goes away quickly, kind of wasabi-like in some way but really tasty with subtly sweet and umami flavors. If you've never had woodear, it's a delicious, crunchy and textured type of mushroom that is used often in Chinese cuisine. LANZHOU BEEF NOODLE SOUP SIGNATURE Pretty solid, with a flavorful warm broth and chewy handpulled noodles, decorated with herbaceous cilantro. I kind of wish there was more beef as the pieces I had were smaller than I was expecting and there weren't too many. Great option for the area. If you're not familiar with Chinese noodle soup give it a shot. read more
Unfortunately, this meal was subpar. 2 stars because they were nice but the food was not it. The price is fine but the food quality is not good. The beef noodle soup was okay but the spicy chili noodles were not spicy at all and the portion is so sad. We left and had to get other food. 2/5 Wouldn't Recommend. read more

We tried this place on a Friday afternoon for lunch during their soft opening. Walked in to a moderately busy restaurant with plenty of seating. Interiors are minimalistic but fresh, and high ceilings makes the place look very industrial. Attentive set of staff came to our table right as we were seated, and we ordered a hot appetizer Silky Wide Glass Noodle ($8.50) and Fresh Hand Pulled Noodles - Spicy Oil Spill Noodle ($13.99). We were warned that the Silky Wide Glass Noodle will be spicy - but we could easily handle the spice. Food overall was absolutely brilliant - one of the best Chinese I've had in the US! Noodles were absolutely fresh - slightly on the chewier side which I like. The Spicy Oil Spill Noodle was delicious and had a very distinct taste to it (a good one!). Bok Choy was cooked to perfection, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I hope they keep up their quality and service, both of which were absolutely wonderful during our visit. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a very flavorful Chinese meal! read more
I'm non-Chinese Asian so I'm greeted in Mandarin but I was wearing a mask. Kind of funny. The fried crispy pork was perfect. Hot, fast and not greasy. They know their oil cycles and proper temperatures. The squid was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The original beef soup was ... you simply have to try it. This place we so good, I went back the next day. This time it was lamb and noodles. They are still on a roll. I also ordered the bread with chili and cumin. Simple but so good. I ended with the crispy pumpkin with red beans. Warm perfectly deep fried and a great ending to meal. read more
Great place to stop by for a quick and authentic northeastern style Chinese food. There was no wait and service was on point. All food came under 10 minutes after we placed the order. I asked for extra spicy for my Spicy Oil Spill Noodle and that's why it seemed a bit too red XD. The only thing that I didn't like is that the noodle was precooked and stuck with each other. It was probably done this way to speed up the serving, but it really did hurt the taste. read more
Got the signature Lan Zhou beef noodles and was definitely a good choice as the dish itself was tasty and had lots of soup. The noodles itself weren't as grand as I expected for the hand pulled noodles. The vibe of the place is calm and not too loud and the servers were quick and efficient when serving us. Overall a good spot if you're craving hand pulled noodles in the area. read more
