    1. Eight Pork & Leek Fried Dumpling and boiled pork and cabbage dumplings
    Paula L.

I've been here a few times. never wrote a review before. I Took my grandsons here because they love dumplings! It was fun for them to watch the man make the dough/noodles. They liked the dumpling and loved the noodles. I got 2 orders of dumplings- one pan fried pork and leek & one steamed pork and cabbage. I also got two orders of soup. 1st was the pork noodle soup. Then got this scallion pancake mixed up noodle soup. Both were yummy. This is a great place to come for these two items for sure. It's dicey, but very cool. Staff is awesome. It's always crowded, but people eat and leave. They don't linger. So, you can usually find a seat.

Food: The dumplings and noodles are tasty here! The dumpling meat is tasty and much better than many other dumpling spots in NYC. The skin is on the thicker side but still good. The portions of the noodle dishes are big and good for sharing. They hand pull the noodles in the store, and sometimes you can see them making them behind the counter. Noodles taste fresh and are delicious. Service: Service is average and nothing special. After you pay for your food and get it from the counter, you find your own seat and clean up after you're done eating. Ambiance: This place has a lot of seating and can accommodate small and larger groups. It's very casual, and the place doesn't look the cleanest. The place looks very mediocre, but the food is worth a try! Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.

My whole family loves coming here for their hearty hand pulled noodles, we always order the pork bone noodle soup or fish ball noodle soup. The cold sides are not to be missed! The beef and tendon with chili oil is a must. My husband likes their pan fried dumplings and I like their steamed/boiled dumplings with their signature chili oil. The best part about having a meal here is the value and the large portions. It's a self-service type of place and the food is consistently good and most importantly, fast.

This is a real whole in the wall. The noodle soups are delicious and good size portions. Each table has all the sauces you need and hot chili oil! They don't bring the food to your table so you need to pay attention to your number being called. There isn't any ambiance here. Just order your food eat and go. They can do a better job cleaning the tables here. Wish they tenderized their sliced chicken in the lo mein. It tastes dry. There isn't any servers so you don't have to pay any tip.

I always pass this restaurant when I'm in the area and I found out it has been here for years. I had to check it out. Once walking inside there's so many people roaming around. There's a lot of indoor seating and it's first come first serve or seat. You do need to order at the counter and get it yourself. Just know if you order the noodle soup, it's fairly large. There's a lot of noodles. I ordered the hand-drawn noodles, but I had the all in one house special which came with beef, tendon, and pork bone. Of course, I had to get the pork & leek boiled dumplings. Everything was so good, but I couldn't finish it all so had to package it up to go.

I drop by here whenever I want a quick and filling bite. The food is priced very well for the portion size, and the quality is good. Service is pretty quick, even when there's a long line. If you're looking for convenient spot for hand pulled noodles, this is the spot.

Just the best delicious dumplings I've ever had. The people are nice and are patient and good spectacular. I wish they were open Tuesdays too lol

Portion size was considerable for the beef tendon and trip noodles; healthy amount of meat was present for the lamb sliced one, without too much fat. Noodles were delicious and exuberant, but the broth was a little sedate. Dumplings were a bit large with wrapping relative to contents. Quickly dispensed; was quite good relative to the prices.

    Lisa Z.

Ordered the sesame noodles and 4 piece fried dumplings. Everything on the menu was very reasonably priced. Looks like they only take cash so remember to bring cash when coming here. They also have an atm by the door if you don't have any on you. The cashier is efficient and the food comes out very fast. Definitely recommend stopping by especially if you're craving the fried dumplings. The thick skin and meat makes it taste delicious.

11/10 What have I been missing out on all of my life? Growing up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, I have been a loyal fan of Kai Feng Dumpling House and have refused all others -- Vanessa Dumpling was just fine, and the ones around Colombus Park in Chinatown were good, but nothing could hold a candle to that side-street hole-in the wall on 48th street. I was proven wrong when I finally made it out to Elmhurst for Lao Bei Fang. I was really really skeptical, assuming this would just be your standard fare, but I was wrong. For 5.50$, I got 8 of the crispiest dumplings I'd ever had in my life. They weren't the shape I was used to -- they were more squarish than I'm used to (I usually go for the longer kind), but the bottom of each was PERFECTLY crisp with a 5 mm layer of crunch; think bottom of the pot, burnt rice layer. Each dumpling also came with that fatty soup oozing out of it, which was the perfect balance to the succulent and flavourful meat inside. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this. Don't do what I did and stop at 8 -- go for more. You'll thank me later.

Nice, quick lunch in Elmhurst area. I went here on a friend's recommendation and because the place I stay in this time for my NYC trip is walking distance. CASH ONLY. On the menu, they have a variety of items including dumplings and noodles. While the menu has dumplings by the 8 pieces, I was glad to see they showed a price chart (price per dumpling fairly constant across quantities) and they offered a 4 piece option. That makes it easy for me to try both the dumplings and noodles without having leftovers. I got the fried pork and leek dumpling 4 pieces and the beef hand pulled noodle soup. The dumplings were good though I wished there was a bit more crispiness to it, because you can easily tell it is fried, but if there is not much crispiness and flavor, then the additional grease I consume is not as worthwhile. The noodles were very good, especially since it was hand pulled in house, but the soup needs a bit more flavor. There are subtle hints of beef flavor carried forth in the meat itself, though I'd love to see more. The tripe, tendon, and beef meat itself were solid - they might have mixed up my order as I wanted just the regular beef hand pulled noodle soup, but it is all good as I got the opportunity to try the other sections of the beef. Service is minimal - everything is self serve, which is very okay because it helps cut down on costs for a great value meal ($13.50 which included tax total, then I tipped some of my change on top). There is no water or tea in the counter, so it was a good call that I brought my own water bottle. You pick up the food yourself and seat yourself, and then once you are done, you bus your own table and place dirty dishes at the top of the garbage can area.

Chicken breast and veggie hand pulled noodle soup.

I love this place for its veggie hand pulled noodle soup. They have lots of tables and chairs that can be rearranged for groups, or you can share with another soul. The front counter person will assist you with your selection if you need something different. For example, I wanted a chicken hand pulled noodle soup without the brown sauce and they were able to provide a veggie hand pulled noodle soup with a side of cooked chicken breast (see pics). I lifted the chicken breast from the white bowl and placed it into the black soup bowl when there was ample room to do so. At the very end of the counter before the kitchen is where the hand pulled noodle magic happens! Sometimes you get to watch it being crafted. It looks like hard work but it certainly pays off with everyone's love of your hand pulled noodles. They have takeout and I'm not sure about delivery options. I didn't catch anything on their menu but maybe with GrubHub or Seamless or other food delivery services you can find what you're craving here. They have pictures on the menu and the wall so it's easy to decide what to get. They have a fridge with water and sodas to choose from as well. Sitting facing the windows has its perks at sundown. The sunset is visible and beautiful. A lot of cold/flu/covid sick people also come here to get soup, so be mindful if you're concerned about others' and your own well-being, and bring or wear a mask. Happy eats!

My three-star rating reflects the pricing rather than the quality. At nearly $50 for two modestly sized dishes, the cost felt excessive, especially considering the food was comparable to other solid Chinese restaurants in the area. You can argue that is due to the third party delivery fees, but I've never come across such a pricing for such portions sizes on delivery apps.

The kitchen here doesn't shy away from traditional flavors--the food is unapologetically spicy and savory, avoiding the "overly sweet" profile that many Thai spots fall into. Here's the breakdown of what we tried: Tom Yum Goong: This was the star of the show. It had a sharp, clean heat and a perfect citrus punch without that syrupy finish you often find elsewhere. Crispy Pork Belly: Exactly what you want it to be. The skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat remained tender, seasoned perfectly to highlight the savory pork flavor. Fried Fish: Deep-fried to perfection with a light, crispy exterior. The sauce paired chili and fish sauce with fresh mango. Crab Fried Rice: Generous with the crab meat and wonderfully "wok-hei" (charred) and salty. It wasn't bogged down by sweet soy sauce, allowing the delicate crab to shine. The only real sweetness of the night came from the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect, cooling end to a very spicy meal. The mango was ripe and the coconut milk was rich, providing the only sugary reprieve of the evening. Service was so nice. The hostess and sever were so nice and friendly. The severer felt like a Thai uncle, he made jokes, gave us napkins, joked with my child. It felt so familial. If you want authentic, spicy Thai food that prioritizes salt, spice, and acid over sweetness, this is your spot.

The papaya salad with green papaya, string bean, tomato and roasted peanut with spicy lime juice was refreshing and light. The Pad woon sen has sauteed glass noodle, egg, onion, scallion, cabbage, celery, carrot, tomato and sesame oil. The second time I visited, I had the Pad see ew with beef. The Pad see ew has sauteed wide noodles with Chinese broccoli, black soy sauce, and egg. Both dishes were very flavorful, delicious, delectable, and appetizing. The dishes were very filling and there was a good proportion of noodles and protein. I've had the Rainfall in Loei and Fang Martini Time, both are really good drinks and not overly strong. We shared the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was good. The mango was very fresh and the sticky rice with coconut milk was sweet, but not overly. My friends ordered the Kopi De Trang, Spicy Maesai Plum, Rainfall in Loei, Thai ice tea lychee, pad see ew with chicken, pad kee mao beef (non spicy), and khao soi gai confit. I ordered a pad kee mao beef with a spice level of 2 to go. It is a great option to have a spicy and non spicy option for pad kee mao. Everyone enjoyed their food. Staff are very friendly and the food come out very quickly after ordering. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash and a 2.95% surcharge for credit cards.
