A hidden gem! The serving sizes are huge, the food is very tasty and affordable. There is a lot of competition in the area for different types of asian cuisine but this has become my favorite. It's not the healthiest meal but it is very authentic. The service is very quick and they are always willing explain what the different options are (as it's not always super intuitive). There is no ambiance as there is limited seating and this is really takeout. It also feels a void in terms of there not being an inexpensive Chinese food option in the neighborhood.

This fast causal take out place is located inside a grocery store. You can see all of the options at the station. The service was fast and they have some seating in the front. The quality is okay, the food is on the saltier side, but definitely a good option for a quick meal. The 3 dishes with soup lasted me several meals. The portions are large!

Bento Express is a hidden gem tucked away in Koufuku Market, so it's easy to miss. Recently, it has become my favorite fast food spot in LIC. You can choose two or three dishes and have an option between noodles, fried rice, and white rice. The meal also comes with complimentary soup or soda. The portions are so generous and they usually load up the box. The soup also changes pretty often and I enjoyed three different ones so far. The food is very flavorful and the price is reasonable.

When we got there, there were only a few other tables seated so it was pretty empty. We got à la carte style, they only have AYCE options after a certain time at night. The meat was fresh tasting and same with their vegetables. We got the Benz option for hotpot, a spicy broth, pork bone broth, and tomato broth. The servers were attentive in helping us refill the broth and refilling our water. Definitely a lot calmer on a weeknight. Would come back again!

However, this means if you don't finish any of the ingredients they pack it up for you. There were certain misses such as the staff not providing any serving utensils (tongs, ladles, etc.), but there is a call button on the iPad, to which they respond quickly. The volume is medium in the space, and their hot pot tables are quite large that we felt really far away from our friends on the opposite side lol. While this meant that we had ample room for the food we ordered, it wasn't the easiest to have a conversation, so keep that in mind. They offer an AYCE option but only after 9pm, from what I understand.

We were seated upstairs, which felt more private. Since the husband doesn't eat seafood, we opted for the Silver Wagyu Set ($68) to just focus on the wagyu. For the specialty item, we got the Wagyu Bone Marrow and Sweet Shrimp Sashimi. Wow, both of these were delicious although the bone marrow was a bit fatty and more of a show. Nonetheless, it's expensive stuff and I've definitely reorder multiples of this if I got the Diamond Set. The waitress recommended 2 orders of each meat to start, which was perfect. Everything came out so quickly too. I really enjoyed the scallops, shrimp, and abalone in the seafood platter. I found the king crab too difficult to crack and eat though. We also really enjoyed the sides from the minced wagyu rice to takowasa. We ended up ordering another 3 sets of meat before we were too stuffed. I liked the ribeye and brisket most. The meat quality is great and cooked so quickly. I really enjoyed all the variety of dishes we got with this and service was so quick. For the broth, we get to pick two: sukiyaki and golden milk. My favorite is enjoying the soup afterwards to end the meal. Finally, we ended with some ice cream too. Mikiya is definitely a splurge, but their quality and service really does make it worthwhile. I'd be back on special occasions though, which will be a treat.

I saw there was a whole wait at the front while we were eating! There is a one-time price depending on which soup base you order, and it may cost a bit more if you order a half/half, followed by the set AYCE price per person for hot pot. Soft drinks are free, and it is BYOB! Be careful with ordering the spicy soup base though - the medium spice was wayyyy too hot I recommend having only one person be in charge of ordering with one phone on everyone's behalf, because we ended up accidentally ordering a bit more than we expected since we each used the QR code in our individual phones all at the same time, and we ended up having to cancel the last round when everything came to our table, (which they were super nice about and did not charge us extra!) The portions were not too large, but definitely order in rounds so you don't overwhelm yourself! As dessert, I recommend the fried buns with condensed milk. They also offer free hotpot +/- a week from your birthday if you show your ID!

I was traveling for business and had an opportunity to stop in with some colleagues and was not disappointed by their menu. There are so many great selections as a matter of fact that I went ahead and took a look before beforehand. It came down to two dishes, and I deferred to the greater judgment of our waiter. We had a great time, receive excellent customer service and almost as importantly, didn't feel rushed to leave when we're done eating . All in all it was a great experience in a quiet place with quality food at a great price. If you're reading this or you're in town, I encourage you to consider it.

With high hopes, my friend and I gave Wa Jeal a try. Reviews are good. Prices are a little high (which I guess is no indication of anything other than overhead.) Am I missing something?! G and I were both underwhelmed. Hot and sour soup is average. Actually, not as good as the takeout place across the street. Shrimp fried rice is nothing to write home about. And tofu with chili-sliced pork -- so disappointing. The pork was unsalvageable pieces with gristle and fat which I picked out and discarded. If ambience is important, Wa Jeal fits the bill. It's sort of fancy. But as I see it, you can't eat ambience, and I won't be back.

If there's a fee, it should be clearly included upfront -- not added later as a "convenience fee" or forced extra charge per person. It leaves a bad impression and honestly takes away from the entire dining experience.
