Delicious chicken tikka masala and garlic naan! A great Indian spot in crown heights. Would definitely come back!

The food here is delicious and homey. I tried the mutter paneer (which came with rice) chai, and salt lassi. The curry was flavorful and relatively light, the rice was fluffy, and the lassi had a nice blend of flavors in it. The meal came out to about $25 which is also very reasonably priced. This is a small restaurant with limited seating about 4 tables at best. It was also little chilly inside the restaurant hence the heater on the floor. They also do lunch boxes to go during the week from 1130am to 3pm. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala with a side order of plain naan to go. Food came out fairly quickly and was packaged well to prevent any possible spilling on my way home The Chicken Tikka Masala was good but the sauce seemed like the tomato flavor was over powering and the whole sauce didn't seem to have the usual spices like all the other times I had it before from different restaurants. I asked for it to be made extra spicy and it had a nice kick to it. It was a good portion size. The nan was satisfying, but the paratha could have been a bit flakier. I hadn't had Indian food in a good long while and got a hankering for it! Went for their dinner special (one app, one main, naan, rice and condiments) and also ordered the gobi manchurian (which they call chili gobi). With the dinner special I went for the samosa chaat, lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. It was all so good! The samosa chaat was super flavorful and the gobi was the perfect kinda spicy and simply delicious. The lamb in the vindaloo was very tender and the potato was cooked perfectly. The only draw back for me was the condiments, it only came with two things and I would have thought that one would have been a smidgen of chutney but no! I have to describe my first time experience (delivery) at Dhania Fine Indian Cuisine in one word: WOW. I had a Doordash gift card and wanted to redeem it. Question was--where? After browsing the selections, I knew I wanted food/cuisine that I have not had in a very long time, either Chinese or Indian. Unfortunately, Chinese was eliminated because I wanted authentic and those on Doordash were more artisinal. By process of elimination, the choice was obvious--Indian--and a few noteworthy spots popped up. Dhania caught my eye as I viewed their menu. I especially liked the popular 1 appetizer + 1 main for $16.95. Sold. For a dollar extra, you can add Naan bread which came in several varieties. Rolling up my sleeves, I chose the Samosa Chaat for appetizer and the Shrimp Bhuna for main. The other combo was the Eggplant Chaat and Chicken Tikka Masala as main. We both added the Paneer Cheese Naan for the extra dollar. Maybe we over ordered because it will be a second meal later tonight. In addition to the above mains, the order also included Papadum, Raita, Sag Paneer, Grilled Paneer appetizer and Mango Chutney. Each main was accompanied by Basmati Rice and the trio of chutneys--tamarind/date, coriander and onion. The delivery was prompt arriving less than an hour later. The food was nicely packed and still piping hot. We didn't even know where to start since everything looked amazing. I liked the Chaat a lot especially the Eggplant which had a smoky flavoring to it. The Naan was stuffed with paneer: billowy, hot and delicious. I fell in love with the Sag Paneer--one of my all time favorite Northern Indian dishes. Theirs was creamy with chunks of paneer. And so fragrant. The mains were executed well. The Shrimp Bhuna included 4 Shrimp with the sauce having a spicy kick to it but not overwhelming. I am unsure if additional Shrimp would be included if ordered as a stand alone main dish. But with so much food, it was filling enough. I wasn't wowed by the Grilled Paneer appetizer. It included 2 small slices of Paneer with broccoli. For $6.95, the portion was skimpy. I was very satisfied with my first time experience and will definitely order again from Dhania. Their food is extremely good (kind of what dreams are made of!), service prompt and prices on par with other restaurants. If only Dhania Fine Indian Cuisine was located in Carroll Gardens. Shout out to Dhania--you have just acquired a new patron! Maybe I can visit some day. read more

I have walked past this place a few times, and finally took the plunge and ordered dinner for two for one! I'm always on the hunt for delicious Indian food, and I absolutely loved their vegetarian samosas, the garlic naan, and the chicken korma was pretty tasty too. A previous reviewer mentioned the spinach in the saag paneer is a little bland and I also found that to be the case. Overall, the food was delicious and arrived hot. The man who delivered my meal wasn't wearing a mask and before he left checked to make sure I had tipped (which everyone should) but it did throw me off a little bit that he asked for one. With that being said - maybe if he has to ask for a tip, people are not being as generous as they should during this time, so this is not a complaint, just a notice! Went late on a Thursday night with my adult kids. Staff was very accommodating and led us to our table. The place was dark small but intimate and the waiter was attentive. (I would have liked more lighting). Place could use an upgrade in decor. We had the vegetable Samosa for appetizer, which was done just right. We tried the onion naan and garlic. They were nice and warm and melted in our mouths. We ordered another set to go home. For dinner, we tried the chicken curry, chicken tikka masala and lamb Rogan Josh. All our meals were delicious. We tried the mango lassi for drinks and for dessert the kulfi. I had eaten here before but was in the neighborhood and my kids love Indian food so we stopped by. No regrets. I ordered from here on Caviar today and got the special with meat samosas and lamb vindaloo. Generally the special comes with an appetizer of your choice, entree of your choice, naan (can upgrade), and white rice, and 2 chutneys for $16.95 which for good Indian food is a great price. I was impressed that the food was still hot when it got to me. The vindaloo came in a small container as did the rice (I think a pint each) and the naan was big and good. There were 2 large samosas. This was more than enough folks for me and if it hadn't been my first mea of the day might have lasted me 2 meals but you can bank on it being one meal that will fill you up if you finish it (I still have a little left). This is probably the 3rd Indian restaurant I've seen in this based, but this is the 1st time I felt compelled to go inside. The décor is clean and attractive in the sense coming from the kitchen were delightful. I went in only to collect a menu and ended up ordering peas pelao and an Indian wafer-like bread for some food I'd be cooking at home later. The flavors were vibrant and delicious, but there was a bit to much oil in the rice. Really, thos place has the makings of a midweek dates spot, Dhania is definitely worth checking out. They grudgingly turned on the lights for us, there was no atmosphere, but since we were there we figured we would eat. Food came out quickly, but it was bland...but that wasn't the worst part. When opening leftovers the next day the Baingan Bhartha HAD BUGS IN IT. It was disgusting! I have never had to deal with such a horrible dining experience before. This is the best Indian food I've had since living in San Francisco many years ago. I've traveled to India a few times, and my best friend is East Indian and her mother spoiled us with delicious food as well. My point being that I've had great Indian food, so I'm a bit particular when I try new places. I had veg samosas, Dahl, chicken tika and all the chutneys. All seasoned so well.
