Great food, great service comfortable dining area. We dropped off my daughter to her apartment. Just looking for a quick bite for lunch. Dharnia was it! 2 types dal both flavorful and sufficient rice to go along with it. Naan was fresh and warm

This is a small restaurant with limited seating about 4 tables at best. It was also little chilly inside the restaurant hence the heater on the floor. They also do lunch boxes to go during the week from 1130am to 3pm. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala with a side order of plain naan to go. Food came out fairly quickly and was packaged well to prevent any possible spilling on my way home The Chicken Tikka Masala was good but the sauce seemed like the tomato flavor was over powering and the whole sauce didn't seem to have the usual spices like all the other times I had it before from different restaurants. The naan bread was good but probably should have gotten another one since it went quick. I would definitely return to this place and try their other dishes!

I hadn't had Indian food in a good long while and got a hankering for it! Went for their dinner special (one app, one main, naan, rice and condiments) and also ordered the gobi manchurian (which they call chili gobi). With the dinner special I went for the samosa chaat, lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. It was all so good! The samosa chaat was super flavorful and the gobi was the perfect kinda spicy and simply delicious. The lamb in the vindaloo was very tender and the potato was cooked perfectly. The only draw back for me was the condiments, it only came with two things and I would have thought that one would have been a smidgen of chutney but no! It was really good otherwise though, def give it a go!

I ordered from here on Caviar today and got the special with meat samosas and lamb vindaloo. Generally the special comes with an appetizer of your choice, entree of your choice, naan (can upgrade), and white rice, and 2 chutneys for $16.95 which for good Indian food is a great price. I was impressed that the food was still hot when it got to me. The vindaloo came in a small container as did the rice (I think a pint each) and the naan was big and good. There were 2 large samosas. This was more than enough folks for me and if it hadn't been my first mea of the day might have lasted me 2 meals but you can bank on it being one meal that will fill you up if you finish it (I still have a little left). I would definitely order from here again

This is probably the 3rd Indian restaurant I've seen in this based, but this is the 1st time I felt compelled to go inside. The décor is clean and attractive in the sense coming from the kitchen were delightful. I went in only to collect a menu and ended up ordering peas pelao and an Indian wafer-like bread for some food I'd be cooking at home later. The flavors were vibrant and delicious, but there was a bit to much oil in the rice. Really, thos place has the makings of a midweek dates spot, Dhania is definitely worth checking out. I will be back to try more dishes soon.

Although we ordered mild for everything (mainly due to having a two year old), there were definitely hints of heat, which honestly was fantastic for me - I can only imagine what spicy would be. It was my mil's first time trying Indian food in this way and she enjoyed it all.

The vegetables, lentils, and rice were balanced and comforting, and it really tasted homemade in the best way. The summer salad was also lovely, and the pani puri was decent. We chose bar seating, which ended up being a bit of a tight squeeze facing the wall; not the most comfortable setup, but manageable for a short meal. To start, we had the pani puri, followed by the samosa chaat. The flavors were good, but the samosa chaat was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't served hot, and the samosa itself was soggy rather than crisp. That contrast in texture is really what makes the dish shine, so it felt like it may have sat a bit too long or was over-sauced. We also tried the vegetable pav, which was decent, and the cod, which was actually very good; nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. I did find myself wishing we had an extra roti to soak up the rest. For drinks, I had the mango lassi, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet. Service was okay but could be more attentive. My water wasn't refilled after a couple of rounds, and we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were given the check without being asked about dessert, which caught us off guard. We did ask afterward, but by then decided to go elsewhere. That said, the food overall is flavorful, and I can see why this place has appeal; especially if you're looking for something a little different in the neighborhood. Having met the owner before in Industry City, it's great to see her doing well in Carroll Gardens, and I wish the restaurant continued success.

Spoiler, we never made it to any of the other locations because we were so full. Jalsa provide fare from all over India and makes paneer in house. They have plenty of seating and can take care of large catering parties. As is customary, they have a Sunday lunch buffet. We came on a rainy Saturday afternoons and there weren't many patrons dining. We went with the masala chai, mango lassi, lamb kati roll, and a ghee masala dosa with gun powder, upon recommendation. -The masala chai was perfectly blended, with sugar on the side to sweeten to one's liking. -The mango lassi was really good, but a bit thicker than I'd like; good tartness. -Lamb kati roll was really good, larger than expected. The flavours were well balanced and the paratha had a good flake to it. There was A LOT of lamb inside. -The ghee masala dosa was the shining star; it must have been 2.5, if not 3 feet long. The edges were super crispy like a chip, and the masala potato pilling was delicious If I could do it all over again, I'd only eat here and not eat ahead of time, since this was enough food to fill a party of two (maybe add in a samosa or two). I'll definitely be coming back to try more fare.

The decor and vibe of this place is so vibrant and beautiful, it instantly puts you in a good mood. I came here for a solo dinner during restaurant week which was a pretty good deal. Most of the patrons seem like they were neighborhood locals which I love to see. I would say based on the flavors and the people dining here that this restaurant is more of a gentrified desi place than authentic. I found the flavors in most of the items I tried lacking. The fuchka prepared tableside is a nice touch, but again the marketing is geared more towards non-desi patrons. The fish fry was delicious and a good portion but more like a good British fish n chips cod filet than a desi fish fry with proper spices. Even the mustard served on the side was awfully bland with no spice whatsoever. While I can still appreciate the flavors, I will always be disappointed when an establishment trades authenticity to serve and coddle palettes that do not appreciate proper desi food. The lamb curry was very very good, and I specifically asked for it to be made spicy. Dining here felt like invading a curated space for non Indians, so I unapologetically ate the curry and rice with my hands to remind myself that yes, this is still our food even if it's muted. To the owners I say - do better and do not shy away from authentic flavors. This is afterall, New York freaking City.
