I just had a great experience with Kevin from Diablo Rooter! He was conscientious, prompt and very competent. I took a shower on Sunday morning only to find that I couldn't stop the water flow at the end. The only way to avoid letting my shower run was to stop water coming to my house. WOW!!!!!!!! Diablo Rooter is Great! I love these guys. After trying unsuccessfully to fix my clogged drain myself I finnally gave up and called a plumber.........Ok, my wife made me give up, I'll admit it. I called them on a Saturday morning after trying to fix my clogged drain myself. They responded quickly, were friendly, courteous, and very fast. They snaked and cleared my very clogged sewer line in both directions and re-set the toilet I pulled for a wopping $110.00!! They were very good to us. Big Note: Diablo Rooter was not the first company that came to our house to fix the problem. I don't usually like to slam companies on-line, but the first plumber we contacted was Drain Doctor and they were just horrible!! Consumers beware, DO NOT EVER CALL DRAIN DOCTOR!! We called them on Friday about 5:30. They said they would have someone at our house within 45 minutes. After more than 5 hours and about 7 phone conversations they finally showed up about 11:00 pm.They told us they were a local company. We are in Pleasant Hill, they are in Santa Clara. They were rude and the service man did not sound very knowledgeable. He wanted $160.00 to snake the line from the yard clean-out to the street, and $190.00 to re-set the toilet that I pulled trying to fix it myself. If I wanted him to snake the line from the clean-out towards the house that would be extra! Kevin from Diablo Rooter did all of it for only $110.00. Diablo Rooter was booked, but referred to his son, Steve's Plumbing. Steve was at my home within 1 hour. He did a great job, was extremely considerate of my home (put down tarps to protect carpet, swept up after himself, etc. He not only fixed the problem, but tested to make sure it would hold. This guy is great. Our toilets, all of them, were refusing to flush, and backing up into the bathtub (ewwwww!). Called Kevin and he came out in a few hours, put that long hose thingy he uses down that drain thingy in front of the house *(didn't even know that thing was there), and cleared out the clog after a couple of tries (fortunately, he did NOT have to dis-attach any of the toilets). He cleaned out the main valve and also checked each individual sink and snaked each one. I left him a VM pretty late on a Friday night asking for a Saturday morning appointment. He called me early the next day, and was at my home in 10 minutes. Kevin did a great job fixing our problem. (we needed the plumbing and sewer snaked due to root growth and blockage).. He even drilled in a support board for the hose to our wasking machine. His rate is very reasoanle. This is my first review of any business listing on Yelp. It is a pleasure to recommend a service and an individual like Kevin, owner of Diablo Rooter. My story began on Labor Day with my wife shouting, "The water heater is leaking!" After performing my usual useless action of crossing my arms and eyes, I started looking for a business on Yelp that could help us before our home was completely flooded. Diablo Rooter was the second call I made and the only one that actually picked up their phone. Kevin expressed a sincere concern that showed me we were in good hands. Despite not being able to come immediately he was helpful by giving me contacts of other local plumbers who were unavailable but promised to be of service if Kevin could not. (Remember, this was on Labor Day). Kevin said he would call me back later that day to see if we still needed help. True to his word he called at 3:00 PM and was at our home a few minutes later. My toilet was leaking, and I was determined to fix it myself. I diagnosed the problem, bought the parts and proceeded to get the job done. I was home alone, with no one to bother me as I worked. The old parts were brittle and most of the connections stripped out, so it took me longer than the "15 minutes" promised on the box of parts. But I had almost completed the job when suddenly the shut-off valve broke. Water shot out of the top of the toilet, soaking me and the walls, and pooling on the floor. I let go of the broken valve just long enough to grab the the tank cover lid to cover the geyser, while holding the handle down with the other so the water would drain out past the flapper rather than overflow the tank. But now I was stuck - on hand holding the broken valve, one on the handle - how was I going to get outside to turn off the water? That was when I decided to call Diablo Rooter. If only I could reach the phone... Kevin arrived about 45 minutes later and quickly fixed the problem ( had managed to balance the pliers on the toilet handle to hold it down while I ran outside to turn off the water at the main valve). He was courteous, fast and did great work. Considering that he had come out after 9 pm, I was very pleased with how little it cost. He told me he doesn't charge extra for night work - can you believe that?! This was the second time I have used Diablo Rooter and I can't recommend Kevin highly enough. He is awesome!! read more

Kevin just left my home. I called him after getting what I thought was an exorbitant estimate for replacing my water heater which had developed a slow leak. Over the phone Kevin was able to determine it was most likely a leaking connection and I would probably not need the new water heater. He changed out both water lines, and put in a new valve, and also noticed my front hose bib was leaking and fixed that. His price was under $175 vs. almost $1200 from the other company. Kevin is by far the best plumber I have ever used. I would go as far to say he is the best business man I have ever dealt with. I needed a plumber and a friend of mine gave me his number. It was on a late night in Nov and a pipe had broken in our backyard. We had to turn off the main valve and had no water. I didnt want to call him at night in fear of him charging extra for a "late night charge". But I have three kids and couldnt waite. To make a long story short he came out quickly fixed the problem and the charge was less then I had paid in the past. Later we needed some help in the kitchen and then in the bathroom and both times he was on time, friendly and provided great service at a good price. We looked up Yelp for plumbing SOS, found Kevin and called him to come fix a leak in the connector valves for our bathroom sink (after spending the whole day attempting to fix it ourselves) late evening. He returned our call promptly and said he was the designated driver for his son's prom night that evening, but promised to come by the next morning. Wow. Hot water heater started leaking on Friday night July 1st, just before 3 day holiday weekend. Early Saturday morning Kevin answered but said he was booked up solid on Saturday so I moved on but nobody returned the calls - I assume due to the holiday weekend. A couple hours later, in a very nice gesture, Kevin called us back with some additional names to try. We tried those plumbers, but again, no response. About 2 PM Kevin called me again, unsolicited, and asked if we had found anyone yet. When we told him we had no luck he said he would install the water heater for us on Sunday. Kevin was in and out in about 3 hours, he installed the water heater and brought it up to code. He couldn't have been more professional and his price was great. I found 3 seemingly reputable plumbers on yelp(some had reviews that seemed overly happy/invented to me). I decided to call each of them until I found one who could come that afternoon. I called Diablo Rooter at 8am on a Friday. I asked them if they could come that afternoon. Believe it or not, they could. Steve and Kevin came at 4pm to my house. They shaked my hand and then quickly assured me they washed their hands at the last job (nice sense of humor!). I had a list for them. They snaked my bathtub pipes, replaced the diverter (sp?) for my shower, fixed the plug for my sink, etc. They were very courteous, did not make a mess, and charged me an amazingly cheap price for their work (apparently it was a small job for them). I was sold on them after the visit. It wasn't until I went back under the sink a week later that I discovered that they organized everything under my sink. Nice touch!!
