Our water didn't get warm one morning (taking a cold shower was horrible), and we called PG&E to see if it was something with the gas line, and they took a look and confirmed it wasn't. We then called Better Home, and they came by quickly to take a look and mentioned some stuff about our water heater, and we decided to get a new one since it was already 15 years old. They brought a new water heater and replaced it, and took our old one out. Super efficient. In regards to the price, it was what it was, but I looked up the water heater and it wasn't a super crazy markup to what they charged us plus labor, so I'm not complaining. read more

I had a very minor hint of gas smell near the earthquake emergency valve at the gas meter. I called PG&E to check it out and they confirmed a leak at the earthquake valve side so they shut off gas until I made the repair. Yaro responded to my quote request on Yelp and provided a quote based off my photo. He had a window available within the next hr and was able to identify and seal the earthquake valve elbow part better. I am thankful for his speedy repair and PG&E was able to come back same day to turn the gas back on. Yaro's rate was competitive and has a 1 year labor warranty. There was an error date on the receipt so I'm just waiting for the revised receipt with the correct date. Upon arrival he mentioned the pictures I provided didn't show a section that is more complicated so it will be extra charge. This is understandable since other plumbers mentioned the same. Yaro is the best. We had a leak under the sink at the junction of drain pipe and our garbage disposal, and he said he would come look at it for us without charging us yet. He told us that if we elect to have him work on it, there's a $250 minimum fee, which we ok'd. When he pulled it apart, he found a piece of metal. (Another plumber had tried to diagnose this from our video and said we needed a new disposal motor. Seemed excessive off the bat.) After forty years our KWC shower valve/mixer no longer completely shut off the flow of water. A small leak, but a leak nonetheless. After a false start with a different plumbing contractor I called Yaro. He replied promptly, did research and discovered that parts were no longer available for our old valve. He sourced a new valve, cut through the sheet rock behind the shower, removed the old valve (a process complicated by some odd carpentry behind the sheet rock), installed the new valve and repaired the sheet rock. Yaro at Better Home Plumbing is my go-to plumber! I first reached out to him when an anti siphon valve in my backyard was leaking. Yaro replaced the old valve promptly and reliably. I later reached out to Yaro to repair and reconnect some gas pipes after PG&E did some emergency disconnects for a gas leak. Yaro did proper testing and discovered that reconnecting the pipes to the very old gas-powered swimming pool heater would cause more leaks due to wear on the old pipes that were underground. He outlined some options for me (including replacing the old pipes), and I was able to choose the lower cost option of leaving those pipes disconnected. My kitchen sink was leaking and I had purchased an under the sink water filtration system. Yaro came over and diagnose the the faucet had to be changed and he gave me recommendations on the type of faucet that would last for a long time. So I purchased the faucet from Costco and called him when the faucet arrived. He showed up on time for our appointment and replaced the faucet. I am remodeling my kitchen and wanted to convert from an electric stove top to a gas range. Hence, I needed a gas line ran. I received a few quotes from other licensed plumbing contractors. To accommodate the addition of a gas range, all indicated I needed to upgrade my entire gas line running from the meter to the water heater at opposite end of house. The expense, based on those quotes, was not worth it. I was disappointed and was considering staying electric. However, I got one last quote from Yaro at Better Homes Plumbing. Surprisingly, Yaro did not try to sell me on upgrading the entire gas line. Rather, his solution was to install a tee at the meter and simply run a separate (and shorter) line to the range. He wasn't familiar with uncommon European brand of in-wall toilet water tank installed in my home. Its internal flush mechanism was made of probably over twenty small hard-to-reach plastic parts. But Yaro solved that puzzle, identified the issue's root cause, and addressed it in about 45 minutes including the time I took to locate the product documentation.
