I came in here while I was desperately looking for a jeweler to fix my broken jade bracelet. For anyone who isn't Chinese, a jade bracelet is extremely sentimental and valuable. My parents had just gifted it to me so I was a complete mess when I broke it. Im in college so I'm definitely on a budget. While other jewelers quoted me a fix for $600-$700, Bruce told me he could do it for cheap around $300-$400. I was skeptical since he quoted me a price far lower than others, but he was so personable and genuine that I took a leap of faith. I explained to him that I was in a bit of a rush, and he told me he would get it done in time. A few days passed, and he called me explaining that the repair needed more gold than he expected and it took way more time, and therefore it might be slightly more expensive that he originally quoted. He followed up by saying that he wanted to keep it as cheap as possible for me. It didn't matter if he made a ton of money off of it, he just wanted me to be happy with the result so that I would return as a customer. His transparency was refreshing and much appreciated. I think he could tell I was devastated when I first brought it in, which really shows that he cares about his customers. The result was everything I imagined and more. He ended up only charging me $50 more than expected and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend Bruce to anyone who needs a repair or even needs to purchase something. He has some really gorgeous pieces in his shop as well. I really can't believe my luck. Finally a business worth writing a review for! I found Bruce (the owner) through a search on yelp that lead me to a different jeweler who had moved. Bruce sent me to see the original guy because he felt it wouldn't be ethical to take the other man's business. Long story shortish the other guy wasn't there so I came back, lucky for me! Bruce fixed my grandmother's ring, an earring my boyfriend gave me AND cleaned up a few Cameo necklaces as a bonus - all very affordably (and I'm a grad student) and in 2 days. No more Perfect score for this merchant Last winter my husband and I happened to walk into Bruce' jewelry shop by chance while we shop around and compare all these little shops in the Jewelry building for my engagement ring. We found that Bruce was very frank with his opinion, nonetheless, is informative and seems much more honest than some other shops we've gone to. My husband decided to go with him for my engagement ring. Because it's a small shop, he didn't have a wide selection readily available. We basically looked for what we like online and ask him to order it and make it for us. There was no problem getting my ring setting ordered, and we bought the diamond from him. My husband was satisfied with the reasonable pricing, and the ring came out beautifully. The process was great and without glitches. Unfortunately for me, I decided to go to Bruce for my husband's wedding band also since we were happy with mine. What a mistake! Same thing, we looked for a ring else where for the style and ask him to get the same style item for me. From his catalog I told him exactly how I wanted the ring to look like, the edge the center, the polish, the size of my husband's finger, the width I like for the band, it's a simple men's wedding band. It took him a long time to get the ring, like a month. Then I went to see the ring, it was totally not what I was looking for at all. He apologized and said it was all his manufacturer's fault, they didn't follow the instructions given. So he said he'll send it back and have them get me a correct one. A week and half goes by, I called him and he said the ring came, but was wrong still, so he sent it back and ask the manufacturer to sent a third one. He said he didn't bother get me over to see it because he knew that's not what I was looking for. Then comes this awful long two weeks of waiting, until one week before the wedding, I kept asking if the ring is here almost everyday, the timing has become urgent on top of everything else that needs to get done the last week. I can't believe he still says to me "don't worry, you have plenty of time, it will be here tomorrow." Well, he's been saying tomorrow for a whole week. So finally the Monday before my wedding I called and he said the ring is here, I went with my husband to look at it, and it was still not exact. The width of the band is too thin, and the center finish is not what I was looking for, the size is wrong also. He said he could send it back to the manufacturer again, or he can put finish on now on this current one. And when the correct one comes, which would be maybe after the wedding, he'll let us know. We went with the second option. I was upset enough that he gave me a discount for all the mental distress he causes me. But after the wedding and we came back from our Honeymoon, my husband contacted him several times before he said my husband can go pick up the order. But what can you expect? Of course it is still wrong, not only that, it was a much thinner lighter band, less gold. By then, my husband decided that is enough, we'll just stick to what we have now, and forget about it. Then Bruce turned it all around and said that I kept changing what I wanted. I can't believe this guy!! I have not changed one bit of what I originally wanted, and it was all written down in words, and now he blames his customer for his incompetency! If you want to work with him, take your chances, it either goes or it doesn't. read more

I trust Bruce to be honest and fair in his pricing. His policy allows, even facilitates, "trading up" when finances and circumstances allow. He will listen to requests and do his best, which is excellent, to comply with them. Visiting Bruce is not a quick task, since there often are other people there making important decisions and he provides the time required for each.customer/couple. We stumbled on Bruce's shop years ago when my Husband decided to get me a piece of jewelry as a gift. Come to find out Bruce grew up with my boss at the time, we struck up a conversation and just got along great. He helped me design a necklace. Next was a version of the "Princess Diana" ring. Next a bracelet that he crafted from a costume piece I had. My most recent piece was to have my wedding rings reset in white gold from yellow gold. Instead of just replicating the setting, Bruce called me and told me he had an idea that he thought i would like more. He also said that if I didn't like it, he would reset it in the original setting style in white gold. He was right! I loved the new setting. Hopefully, with another big birthday coming I will get another new piece of jewelry. If not, next piece to be reset in white gold is my "Princess Diana" ring :) Bruce even delivered my first piece to my office and has overnighted items to me as well.
