I was referred to Kevin specifically by a friend of mine who got engaged in May 2017. He in turn had been referred to Kevin from some of his friends in Boston. Clearly, a lot of people had a great experience and ended up with the diamond they were looking for. For me, Kevin did an amazing job working with me to get the perfect diamond for my now fiancee. I actually purchased the ring from Kevin back in October, after talking, visiting and working with him for 1-2 months (mostly due to my schedule -- I live in NY but was working in NH at the time so had to make time to drive down to Boston to see him). Over the course of 2-3 visits, he showed me multiple diamonds each time, making sure to select the very best quality within the specifications that I requested. As any shopper does, I also looked at several other places, including a couple shops in NYC's diamond district. The price, quality and service combined did not compare. I wish there was a six star rating. Kevin and his wife have been nothing but professional and very fair and every transaction we've done with them. I have bought three rings myself from Kevin one of which I gave him a hand drawn picture of what I wanted and he made it exact. My husband and I been buying jewelry from another jeweler in the same building for years and thought we were getting a good deal. After years of being a loyal customer and personally spending over $60,000 we asked our jeweler about upgrading my diamond earrings. He gave us a price which thought it was expensive, $16,000, plus a trade in of my old earring, which were 2 carats total weight. I have actually been remiss in writing Kevin a favorable review, but just had occasion to contact him again and it was a great reminder of the outstanding experience he provided my wife and I back in 2011 when we were purchasing an engagement ring. My wife is not a huge jewelry fan and we ended up searching high and low to find something she was interested in. Finally ended up seeing a unique art-deco style ring that was truly up her alley! As fate would have it, the ring was sold in the day it took us to get hold of the jeweler who owned it. At this point, a friend introduced us to Kevin as a man who is able to have some very unique work done. Our friend was right, Kevin worked with us tirelessly to help capture the spirit of what my wife was really after, going through a process of imagining, drawing, revising, and prototyping what ultimately became a beautiful setting for my wife's diamond. Regarding purchase of the stone, Kevin was also extremely helpful. He was able to provide both education as to the industry and help to steer us to what was a great fit for our needs. At no point did I feel that Kevin pushed us during the sale and I felt he was hugely helpful in keeping us from slipping down an expensive slope in a few cases and at the end of the day, we felt we got an excellent purchase value. We were extremely satisfied with the ring (and continue to be) and would certainly work with Kevin again. This now brings me back to the present. My wife had need of a copy of some documents that we'd mislaid in the process of moving. She reached out to Kevin and within half an hour he was digging them up for us. Perhaps it is to be expected, but I continue to be impressed at the courtesy and service provided. I couldn't disagree more with the one star review below. Admittedly, I have only had one experience with this store, but it was great. I recently got engaged. I bought the diamondon my own and went to this store to get purchase a setting and get it set. I had found the setting I wanted on bluenile.com it was $695. Kevin, the owner, sold me the exact same one for $525 (almost 25% off). Plus, he got the dimond set and sized for me in less than 24 hours and even threw in a nice box. Kevin, and hs store, came highly recommended to me by my roommate. He had a great experience purchasig both his engagement rings and wedding bands through Kevin. He has had nothing but great things to say about this place. I plan to go back for my wedding bands as well. I bought my fiancee's engagement ring from International Exchange after being referred by two of my buddies who had bought from Kevin as well. I had done quite a bit of research online and also spent a couple hours looking at rings on Blue Nile. I could have saved a lot of time if I had just gone to Kevin first. He spent about 30 minutes answering all of my questions. The most important thing I learned was which of the C's were worth paying for, and which ones were less so simply by comparing many different options and seeing for myself. Kevin was able to guide me through the process without me ever feeling pressured. I left the first day and went home to do a little more research online. Nowhere I looked, not even Bluenile was able to come close to what Kevin was offering for the stone I was looking at (About 15% difference). About a week later I went back and purchased the ring, and a week after that he had it ready for me. Many of the other reviews commented on the simplicity of Kevin's store. Don't let that turn you away because it is probably part of the reason why they are able to offer the prices that they do. I should disclose that just signed up for Yelp to post this review (and am in no way related to or have any business interest with International Exchange) but just really appreciate the great service and deal I got there. Therefore, I wanted to take some time to share a little diamond buying advice that I picked up along the way and review the experience that I had with Kevin on my search for the perfect engagement ring. So if this sounds like you, stay with me, and hopefully you'll be better for it. Over the last six months or so, I've louped over 100 loose stones. I've enjoyed learning about the diamond trade and putting my research, lapidary skills and tools to the test. If you do your homework online, get the right tools, and ask the right questions, it becomes easy to gauge how honest a jeweler is being with you. There are a lot of bad deals out there and if your not careful you will get ripped off, I promise. Do yourself a favor and stay away from malls and retailers with extravagant storefronts and fancy gift boxes. You know who they are. Don't take any recommendations from your Mom or her friends or else your likely to find yourself with an overpriced crackerjack box ring with diamonds related to the carbon on your soon to be father in-law's masonry saw--and then when your fiancee finds out just how crappy her ring is you better make sure she doesn't get her hands on that saw. So if your rich enough to finance Tiffany & Co.'s executive compensation bonus pool, or naive enough to lose an appendage or two from some bad advice, that's your business. If you want to get a great deal on a diamond engagement ring, that's Kevin's business. After working with many jewelers in CT and MA, along with the circuit of jewelers in downtown crossing (which has great variety and selection--who needs 47th St NYC?) and balking on several close deals, I finally purchased an RBC GIA cert in plat with 2 ceylons from Kevin and his wife. The deal I got from Kevin was more competitive than any other brick and mortar jeweler or internet retailer, and the purchasing experience was very transparent. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like a dealer, not a consumer. I told Kevin what I was looking for, and before he showed me diamonds I was courteously handed a loupe and daylight light (I hadn't even taken out my lapidary kit, so I assume he does this with everyone, not just people that seem to know what they're doing). Though I appreciated the daylight, I actually had to ask Kevin to turn on his "retail" lights (which are overhead incandescent lights that could make poo sparkle) so I could compare his diamonds performance against the other jeweler's which typically benefit from this most generous spectrum. After identifying my diamond of interest, he quoted me wholesale, and then to prove it he voluntarily priced it against the rap sheet and then we compared it to other GIA certified stones on RapNet. For the carat and grade I was looking for, Kevin had the lowest wholesale price in the US vs identical GIA certified RBC's. Then, he even allowed me to bring in a friend who is also a jeweler to give me his opinion on the stone and match it to the GIA cert! Kevin's straightforward approach and transparency built my trust which was also confirmed by my own research. There was no need for sales pressure, because in the end price and value should do the talking. After a rigorous search, I couldn't be happier with my purchase and look forward to coming back to purchase jewelry from him for more occasions. I learned growing up that you get what you pay for. When shopping for a diamond pendant for my wife to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, I went shopping for a beautiful stone, not a beautiful showroom. I buffed up my knowledge of the "4 Cs" and scoured the web to get a sense of the market. I read sobering advice from "The Diamond Guy" (Google him). I discovered Blue Nile, the online diamond merchant, and was tempted by the selection and prices, but the idea of buying a diamond sight unseen struck me as absurd. Then I started visiting reputable jewelers in downtown Boston. I was buzzed into showrooms with oriental rugs and antiques. I was ushered into private back rooms with custom lighting and comfy chairs. Very seductive, all that overhead. Some of the sales people were straight shooters and others were slippery hype masters. Not my favorite sport. I ended up fulfilling my wife's dream for some serious sparkle at International Exchange, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for luxury around her neck or on her finger, rather than in the jewelry store itself. I immediately appreciated the proprietor, Kevin Lee In, a quiet, knowledgeable, warm, and respectful man I felt I could trust. He listened to what I wanted and showed me several lovely stones within my price range and desired parameters. No pressure, no hard sell, no b-s. Also no oriental rugs or antiques. I ended up buying a larger stone than I expected to be able to afford, GIA certified, gorgeous, set to my specifications, delivered on time, and less expensive than Blue Nile prices. After first seeing the stone, I wanted to be sure it was the best deal I could get, so I continued to shop around. I told a couple of other jewelers at well known stores (with advertising budgets) about this diamond. Neither of them could come close to matching Kevin's price for similar quality. Both of them actually advised me to go back and buy it. So I happily did. When I encountered Kevin the second time, he was just finishing up with a buyer from one of the other jewelry stores in the building. I guess the professionals don't care about paying for overhead either. If you're looking for a fancy façade, you'll probably walk on by International Exchange. If you're looking for a beautiful diamond at an unbeatable price, this is your place, and you'll have the pleasure of doing business with a real gentleman (and his wife and perhaps their well behaved children if you're there during school vacation).
