Most people go to jewelers to have items repaired - in a surprising change of pace, I got the opposite. I brought in an old watch. It needed a new battery and strap. They replaced the battery and the watch began working again. Then, they proceeded to break the watch lug (photo) off while removing the old strap. They tossed the watch back to me and shrugged. When I asked if they could repair the watch they just broke, I got a curt "no." I even had to ask for the broken piece back! Then they said "oh well, it probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway." I had a broken ring that Leo Carroll was able to repair with care and precision. They originally told me it may take weeks, but turned around in a couple of days. The ring was oxidized in the front and to repair the ring, they informed me it needed to blast it clean so the oxidation may rub off, so they oxidized it for me to make it look how it did originally! Such a great experience with Sean at Leo Carroll! With covid regulations, I emailed to inquire about resizing some of my sterling rings. Sean was very prompt in his response and said I could come in anytime during the week. I popped in on a Wednesday afternoon and Sean took a look at my rings right away. Since it's difficult to resize rings with stones in them without damaging them, he suggested using ring guards to make my rings smaller and they worked like a charm! Very comfortable and reasonably priced. Sean is very knowledgeable and honest with your jewelry. My engagement ring was bought here, and while much of what's on display is fairly traditional, my ring is different (rubies instead of diamonds, multiple stones instead of one big stones, etc), so if you want to deviate from the beaten (mined?) path, this is a good place. I also brought in my grandmother's pearls to be re-strung, and they came back so polished and gorgeous it looked like a whole new necklace! Because we were so satisfied with all of our previous experiences, we decided to buy our wedding rings here. They were very patient with our need to try on different rings about twelve hundred times. They also were great in working with us on price---they helped us figure out that small differences in width added up to huge price differences (ditto the comfort band option, although I loved it so much I spent the extra to have it). Only downside/thing to know is--there's usually only 2-3 people working there, and on a Saturday, it can get very busy with all the couples in there. The one-on-one service means that you may wait ten minutes sometimes for your turn. LGBTQ friendly. read more

I took my engagement ring here for a checkup/cleaning. I was nervous because the last person I took my ring to was aggressively mean to me that we had moissanite and bought it online (I mean, we bought it online from a jeweler after coming up with a custom design with them it's not like we bought it from some sketchy website). But after that experience I felt like my ring wasn't "worth" taking to a professional so I had put this off. All they said was that my ring was beautiful, and after confirming that I knew it was moissanite they continued cleaning without another comment on my ring. They noticed I was wearing a different ring on my hand and even cleaned that one for me too. They didn't charge me anything and wished me a happy wedding and sent me home. They were so nice and welcoming. Jewelry shopping and maintenance can be so overwhelming but they were so friendly it was easy. Sean is the best. My family has been using Sean and his family for decades now, so when I was preparing to propose I contacted him for help in finding the perfect engagement ring...even though I was located in Los Angeles and him in Cambridge, MA. He was always very responsive to phone calls and emails, and after dozens of exchanges and even him mailing some samples to me (free of charge) we finally found the perfect stone and setting. That was only Part 1. I then had my own finger sized and ordered what I thought was the correct ring for myself, but after the wedding realized it was way too big. An LA jeweler re-sized and told me I need to go from an 8.5 down to a 7...I was skeptical so went with a 7.5 to be safe. Sean accepted the ring back and placed a new order for the 7.5. The new ring arrived and I was extremely embarrassed to report back to him that this one was now too small! He totally understood and we are now at an 8, where we should have been to start.
