Don't let the dive bar ambiance scare you it's definitely the people and the vibe that keeps you here. We witnessed people from all walks of life from Tesla to bicycle singing and sharing moments that can't be duplicated. Had a blast and can't wait to go back!

It has a special, magical charm of the perfect dive bar. I'm ignoring my previous trip there as, well, I should not have brought that person to this place. This place is not for pretentious people. Thus I was at home at this spot. It looks camouflaged by plain wrapping with a boring exterior. Open the door and it is a world of more things to explore than you have time to. You are treated like family as a stranger. Be ready to be among people who want to know you. I guess I fit as some there knew my friends from other dive bars. I never realized how small the Dallas Dive bar world was. I have some cool friends. The music is good on the video jukebox. The tears came to my eyes as a few post 9/11 patriotic songs were played (I bleed Army green and so did some that didn't return home to their moms intact.) Glad none there saw my eyes or noticed my toast to my memories. The couple dancing on the next song made me feel more at home. Good thing a good 2 step or waltz never played or I might have had to find a partner. The decor is somewhat Green Bay Packer-ish. Okay, a lot of Green Bay love in the decor. Heh, yes, I still carry a grudge from the 1967 Ice Bowl as a life long Cowboy fan should! But, I respect a bar owner who has actual stock in his/her team and displays it proudly! So that adds another star or would that be Starr? The patrons make this one special. This is one of the great dive bars!

Visited Hendys on Henderson with some friends for happy hour recently and we had a great time with delicious food, good drinks, and great atmosphere. Firstly for appetizers/small plates, we ordered the burrata (this dish seems to be seasonal with the menu alternating between different fruit accompanying the burrata every few months or so; during our visit, it was paired with apple). We also tried the pretzel calamari (I was very curious what about this made it pretzel inspired as I've never seen this combo before but we discovered it was cooked in a pretzel coating, and it was definitely worth trying) and the Hendys Tendys (served with Texas toast and fries). For drinks if you like spicy and savory, you can't beat the spicy pickle margarita which has tequila, orange liqueur, muddled jalapeño, pickle juice, lime, agave syrup and garnished with gherkins (small pickled cucumbers similar to cornichons) and a Thai chili. Don't worry about it being too spicy as it's a perfect blend of tangy with a slight kick. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other drinks and main menu items.

And their food was yummy, we got the calamari, the pasta, Brussel sprouts, steak frites, and were very happy with our meal. Service was great, the staff worked as a team and had some great recs and were attentive to our needs!

It was date night and I had stumbled across their insta post advertising their christmas movie nights and I immediately sent it to my boyfriend! Plans were immediately made to go watch Die Hard! Lol! As soon as we got there we were taken to the patio where the movie is shown and the entire ambiance throughout the restaurant is decorated in a chic christmas decor theme! The most beautiful white and gold color palette really adds a level of beauty to the ambiance! First things first, our waiter was amazing! He was so attentive especially because we were the only ones on the patio! Yes...we were the only ones who decided to see the Christmas movie Die Hard lol! For food we opted for a pizza and their buffalo bites! I am being quite honest when I say that this is some of the best crafted pizza we have ever eaten! We tried the hot honey pizza the last time we came and tried the Barnyard this time around and O M G! It was so so great! The buffalo bites are also a hit for us, mainly because they serve a lot of bites and not just 5-6 like most places! Of course, we couldn't leave without trying their festive drinks! My boyfriend enjoyed a hot peppermint tea while I got to try their sugar cookie martini and their Espresso Manhattan! The Sugar cookie martini definitely took the cake! 10/10! I was worried for a bit because of how milky it is, but it was a pleasant surprise! Overall, the experience was astounding! We definitely want to come back for their Home Alone night!

The bar has a back room for music on certain nights of the week, so a friend and I went on a Saturday night. That was a long time ago. I completely forgot about this place until we were in the neighborhood after going to Fair Park for kid's activity in 2026. The bar is kind of a dive bar. It is not modern or updated. But it has a ton of charm and reflects days past in East Dallas. We found a table and sat. The bartender was solo so he was doing everything: bartending, taking food orders, and bringing the food out. I wish his name was on the receipt because he was doing a great job and I wanted to acknowledge his efforts. He was pleasant and friendly despite having to do everything himself. There are about 20 beers on tap so the wife and I each had a beer and the kid a soft drink. We ordered a small cheese pizza for the kid and we shared a "Tavern Favorite" which comes with spicy sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and purple onions. We skipped the onions. Pizza came out very quickly and was piping hot. The crust was thin and crisp. The toppings were beyond generous. I have not see so many toppings for a very long time. The sausage was indeed spicy. It was delicious. The entire pizza was excellent and the bar earned its reputation for excellent pizza. The wife liked this place and there were some arcade games for the kid so I have feeling we will be back.
