Bread was soft, turkey was soft and tender, and the apple crisps compliment the whole sandwich very well. I read raving reviews about the place before I went and it certainly lived up to the hype. The line was out the door when I went for lunch (I recommend ordering online beforehand and picking up) so that should give you an idea of how great the food is!! As far as the sandwich, it was very tasty except that it was like DRENCHED in the spicy mayo! It was literally just coming out all sides of the bread and since this was a delivery it made parts of the bread really soggy and hard to eat. Having said that, the sandwich was very good and the ingredients tasted fresh. Came with a couple of dill pickle spears and that's always a plus! The potato salad was delicious. It wasn't really sweet like some places, tasted homemade with just the right amount of mustard and mayo. Ok I've been here a few times now and this place is everything most locals claim it to be. Being its only a few blocks from my downtown Akron office this place usually comes to mind when my belly starts rumbling around lunch time and it's usually an easy sell with most of my business associates, I've yet to have to twist anyone's arm when I throw out Diamond Deli as a lunch option. I really haven't landed on a favorite sandwich yet although I'm thinking it will involve corn beef or pastrami and of course a thick slice of Middlefield, Ohio Swiss Cheese and a slathering of spicy mustard on rye. I've yet to beat the crowds here during the lunch hours but the staff keeps the line moving and somehow there's always a seat even though it never looks like there will be while standing in line. There are a lot of incredible delicatessens in NE Ohio and each brings something unique and delicious to the table and this one is no different, it been operating since 1997 but if you didn't know this you could assume they've been here for a half a century or more.
