However I have never submitted a review but i felt it would be remiss on my part not to tell others about KAM Auto Care. When you find a good mechanic, it's only right to let others know because they are in short supply. Almost five years ago I'd bought a used car, a '95 Mazda 626, which was in okay shape but like all used cars requires an attentive owner. As most people know, going to a new mechanic is like rolling the dice and taking a gamble on your car especially when you are a young woman. By that point I'd already experienced my fair share of dealings with unscrupulous mechanics, lazy mechanics, bad customer service and of course I'd been cheated a few times too. So i did my homework and took a list of 4 shops off of the Texas Department of Public Safety's site on top of visiting shops that were referred to me by friends and family. I ended up choosing the auto shop run by Robert Richard and managed by his wife, Natalie Greene. They kept the waiting area spotless with refreshments and snacks readily available and replenished for customers. I'd went in for a simple oil change and Mr. Richard checked all of my fluid levels (a lot of places say this but they don't do it), brakes, air filter, vacuumed my interior and pumped air into the tires. I was irritated because thought i'd be billed extra for the service which I didn't request but it turned out that this was all a bonus part of their oil change package. I returned for a much needed tune-up and state inspection, they attentively listened to my concerns and serviced my car accordingly. They also showed me the old parts, explained to me exactly what work they did and the cost was competitive. While I was there i observed how they treated all of their customers, everyone (be they male or female, young or old) received the same quality of care and attention. I went back a few more times and my initial positive impression remained true time and again. Last year, Robert Richard and his wife Natalie Greene opened their own shop called KAM Auto Care and I naturally followed them there. In the four years that i have been their customer, my knowledge about cars has exponentially increased primarily because they take the time to educate me on each visit. Recently, Mr. Richard has started taking pictures of the work, on top of showing the old parts, so that I see the before and after improvements. They send me reminder texts for fluid level check-ups and leave stickers for oil change reminder. The few times my car required serious repair, Mr. Richard and Mrs. Greene have went out of their way to find and offer cost effective solutions and they always follow-up too. They go above and beyond merely fulfilling their job description, they treat their customers like family because they enjoy what they do and take pride in a job well done. My car remains is in excellent shape and i can only thank Mr. Richard and Mrs. Greene for this.

I'm not one to go out of my way to leave a bad review, but this needs forewarned. i heard a…read morerattling noise on my car and thought maybe it was the muffler. i took it to this shop and they tried to scam me out of $1100.00. i was told my catalytic converter was falling apart from the inside and needed to be replaced asap (there were no lights on in the car whatsoever). I asked for a quote and that was the price i was given. I took my car to the Platinum Dealership in terrell afterwards to see if their pricing was better or worth it more. They kept my car for 2 days looking for the real problem. They told me my converter was perfectly fine and the hanger was broken (a very small fix) and even sent me a video to show me the real problem. Something that simply needed to be welded was going to cost me $1100.00 had i not got a second opinion. Please do not take this shops word. Please, please get a second opinion before just agreeing with whatever they tell you at this shop. I even attached my quote

Power steering went out shortly after that and I haven't driving the car for two months. Took it to a trusted mechanic shop to diagnose again LAST WEEK and they confirmed it's the transmission that needs to be inspected by a transmission shop. I'll remove this review if the transmission shop confirms it's the ecu as well that needs to be replaced. (Response to owner) There's no issue I was waiting to confirm if the diagnoses given to me was correct to right my review. Forgive me for not remembering it was 125 exactly but , $125 for what auto zone does for free was my issue . I was expecting a real diagnosis by a mechanic to pin point the issue with accuracy and given a game plan not a simple computer diagnostic test that was for a code I already knew it had.

Keith drilled into the root causes, drove the car on three separate test runs, and verified that the new plugs were helping the situation overall. The fuel injectors were fine. No need to replace them. I just drove home from the shop, about 25 miles on 70 mph highways. The car hummed like it was brand new. Not a pause or a hiccup. This is the second time Keith has bailed me out of trouble. Earlier, he caught up with worn brakes in time to save me the cost of new rotors. He could have sold me new rotors and I wouldn't have been the wiser, but he didn't. That shows me Keith is old school: build a solid reputation and go the extra mile.

I went in because earlier that week I jumped a curb to avoid getting smashed by a semi. The day I took it in I called and spoke to Randy. He was very helpful and broke down all the things I need to work on. He also broke down how things are color coded. Red needs immediate attention, yellow is something that can wait , and green is that it's good to go and nothing needs to be addressed.
