Parking is horrible, the restaurant is very limited on selections, and prices are high for food and drinks.

Stayed here a few times. Overall a good resort. Big pool, close beach access, short walk to Dukes, Java Jazz, and other places. Don't like the high pressure sales here. Seems like they are consistently trying to upsell. Overall a good place to stay on Maui. read more

This whole diamond resort is a complete scam! Even their sampler package. I specifically told the sales lady that I don't want to stay in any hotel less than 4 stars, she told me there are a lot of 4 stars hotel on the sample package list. But guess what, the list will keep changing and they will swap out all the 4 stars hotel on this super limited list for 2.5-3.5 stars. We're utterly disappointed with our stay, as we were told that we'll be staying in this nice resort during our sample package time and guess what, we're stuck in this shitty room that resembles a motel!!!!!! straight up the worst hotel stay ever. Omg. The worst presentation ever. Was on time my person Thomas 20 min late and brought his young daughter. About 4 or 5. Who allows employees to bring their kids to presentation. Then he said he wasn't at work so where was he. Then he didn't apologize for anything ( I found out later his wife had an emergency in the mainland abd he was babysitter. His boss allowed this Chris no apology. He just had to say sorry Requested to get another person. Ended up with Chris the manger or boss then given to ramy. It gets worst. I was there for over 3 hours. And was about to get scammed again. I have to learn to say no thank you Rant told me I was saving money by buying 6500 points gir 26000 $. I can't speak to the actual program because we didn't buy one. The reason was because we fly for free and stay at most hotels for free because if my husband work. With that being said we spoke with Temujin "TJ" Jacobs. He was amazing! He understood our situation and didn't try to pressure us. My first time here as an owner at the Ka'anapali Beach Resort , the location is excellent, the suite we had is very comfortable and our partial view of the ocean after a room change is great. To fall asleep with the sound of the ocean waves crashing is amazing. We enjoyed the pool the first day, pool was very busy, the hot tub was soothing. The breakfast buffet was awesome , long time employees doing such a great job. Mahalo ! The staff from the valet service, VIP desk welcome and the spacious 1 bedroom unit. We were happy with our Hotel type accommodations. What we were shocked to find out was that during an owner update we were mistaken for platinum level owners , we were told that the Platinum level owners have a way of reducing their maintenance fees with an investment enhancement benefit , this benefit was only for platinum level owners where they can virtually have their fees reimbursed. We learned the Gold level owners pay 22% more in maintenance fees and pay more than Platinum owners. This only was disclosed to us after a glitch in our paperwork, the owner advisor then had to have their legal department get involved due to the price of additional points had we been able to afford to purchase. Our member advisor was honest enough to explain everything, what left us feeling mislead was how the new ownership of Diamond resorts is adding 7 million more members to Diamond Resorts. If you think it's hard to get a reservation wait until the future. The index was also explained. Platinum members have an A index, Gold members have a C index , guess who gets priority over your C index. That's right the A's. The other thing is the Diamond website keeps track of your usage , every time you book a vacation you use up about one in five times you'll get a room availability, after you've booked five vacations you'll never get an availability. So I learned a lot from my owner update , both intended and unintended. I hope nobody gets terminated, I felt so mislead and cannot recommend any to purchase a Diamond Resort membership. The best thing about the resort are all the hardworking people that work at the resort, fortunately they will continue to have their great jobs as some have been here thirty years. I hope Diamond Resorts new management weeds out all of less than honest management. read more

Clean hotel, very very friendly staff. Concierge's desk is amazing. Skip the in-house meals right now during Covid, but amazing close local fair and food park walking distance. Large portions at the food park and local delicacies. Amazing little hidden gym store inside hotel for gifts. Helpful cleaning staff. Overall great!! The views & location are ideal. Only reason in giving it 3 stars is because of the Bar by the pool. The staff was amazing! Very friendly and great drinks. Try the Lava flow!!! Yumm For the room I would give a 2, we had a few dead roaches in our room and one crawling in the cupboard (which we lost) front desk told me to contact housekeeping and they can spray and wipe everything down with a non hazardous spray. Well, we walked in the room as she was coming in but definitely did not wipe down in the cupboards. Whatever we just kept our dishes in the dishwasher. They definitely need more than one laundry room on each floor. Great access to the beach. Friendly staff everywhere. The store across the street charges an arm and a leg. Best to go up the street (by car) to Safeway. read more

Nobody should buy this timeshare is a total SCAM! I originally purchased as a fixed unit. They sold me down the river into the Hawaii Trust only to find the that I was charged thousands of dollars for water damage at the Kuia resort. I purchased a deluxe ocean view and always had a front facing ocean view. Now I am sitting in a room facing a building. When I arrived they said nobody was checking out of a front facing room and and we found at least 5. They then said those were fixed units. Massive scandal! read more

I went to a presentation recently as I got $200 and was told this was a 2 hrs. I thought to myself, I can do two hours. So my husband and I went and endured the presentation which was not that bad. We politely advised them that we were not interested and they got another person to come over and show us the same stuff the first person already did. The closers name was Patricia and I told her we were not interested and that it already had been 2 1/2 hours and we were ready to go as we only had to stay two hours. She ignored me and kept on talking so I interrupted her and advised her again we are not interested and we were ready to leave. She insulted us and the way we vacationed and abruptly left. She did not thank us for our time or anything and was plain rude to us and did not listen. Patricia ruined any chance of me saying nice things about this vacation rental. Was this worth the $200 you ask? It ended up being 2.5 hours and we had one more person try to sell us. I would say no. read more

My wife and I are staying in Maui, we agreed to a promotional/guided tour for a reimbursement of $200 toward a dinner cruise. **If your bored, or actually considering committing to their BS scam, please read.** We first met with a women to go over wants/needs from a vacation stand point. I'll give her credit she was polite and easy to talk to. So we played their game. Next started the presentation, which was put together well. The presenter was a different story. Describing him as a thug is an understatement. He knew his material but the way he carried himself did not sit well with us. After the presentation, we went over numbers with the woman from earlier. I expected the costs to be high and boy was I wrong. They out did themselves, the costs were astronomical. After another half hour of their bull, we politely stated we don't think right now is the right time for us to commit to this. This message was not received and then a manger sat down with us. They advertise 4 weeks of vacation with the points but the room they showed us required 6,000 points per year. They wanted us to commit to 4000 points and $11 and some odd cents a point. Call it $11.00. So we were to pay $44,000.00. After another half hour she knocked it down to $17,000 and 2 free weeks of paid stay to anywhere of our choosing. Which they would of just put us in one of their garbage hotels. Another 10 minutes of saying no, we finally asked if they were done and if we could leave. Once they gave up she gave impressions of us making the biggest mistake of our lives. Lastly we met with another person to "complete a survey" only for him to try and sell us their sampler deal. We were both mentally clocked out and told him we are done and leaving. Looking back we walked out of there pissed off on our honeymoon but now we are sitting at the beach laughing at their stupidity. You will get screwed if you sign up for this. If it was such a great deal they wouldn't of had 3 sales people practically bagging for commitment from us. I can't imagine the hidden fees that are associated with them. read more

I'm not giving them 1 star because they wanted me to attend a time share presentation, that's understandable for the discount. They're getting 1 star because they lied to me about how much they are charging my credit card. The guy told me he would charge $257 for two activities for the family both in person and on the phone when he took my credit card number (I didn't have my wallet when I met him). Then he charged $440! When confronted he denied ever quoting the lower number. I told him no deal. Luckily he cancelled the charge but it caused a panic. If you're willing to do a time share / travel site presentation, find a booth on Lahaina. Prices are better and we've had good experiences twice. It's never a good idea to buy a time share since you'll make more money investing in a Vanguard mutual fund and have liquidity, but it's a nice way to get a free/cheap snorkel trip. read more

My review is of their timeshare scam, not the resort. I was conned into accepting a free snorkel trip in exchange for going to a timeshare presentation. It was 100% not worth it. It was the highest pressure environment I'd ever been in, and I went in feeling prepared for a timeshare experience. I've heard Diamond is way worse than others, which I wish I knew ahead of time. First off, they lie about it being 120 minutes. I set a timer like some people had suggested, but they flat out wouldn't let me leave. They kept saying that I'd signed something with small print agreeing not to make plans within SIX HOURS of the start time. (I hadn't; I reread what I signed before I went in, but they later took it away from me.) Also, even though I read online that they legally can't keep you over 120 minutes, they know you aren't going to reach out to a lawyer about it. And the energy spent arguing with them about that just makes the process longer. Here's the catch - the reason I couldn't leave was because I'd already done my snorkel trip the day before the presentation, and if I left before they said I could, they would charge the full amount of the trip to my card. Also, I was supposed to get a sailing trip as well, but it was canceled due to weather - and yet I didn't receive a refund even though it was part of my compensation for going. They push you through three hard sales, all one on one. The actual presentation isn't that big a deal; they of course hard sell you and say it's wonderful, but since no one is breathing down your neck, it's fine and a nice break for 30 minutes. Also, they tried to get my SS # to check my credit. I flat out refused, and they said I'd have to leave (and have my card charged.) I finally offered to pull up my credit score via my bank's app and they accepted it. Every time I tried to leave, they insisted that legally they had to show me additional forms and room options and started doing more math to show me how great the deal was. They started out at $28K plus about $1K in maintenance, then went down to $14K or so. I said no more times, and in more ways, than I ever thought possible. It didn't do any good. I was told I was stupid for turning it down several times. At two hours, I said had to leave. They acted like they were letting me and I thought, hey, I won! Nope. They then send you out to do a "survey" with a guy who says he's with corporate. He says he's not on commission like "those" people inside. He "acts" like he's doing a survey on my experience, like he's my buddy. I keep telling him I have to leave. The closer says no, and keeps talking. He's way worse than the previous two in terms of pressure. He tries to get me to agree to some other deal - not a time share - some sort of other free room deal. I know there's no such thing as a free lunch, and say no again. And again. He says "you don't like saving money?"-- you must be stupid. He repeatedly tells me I'm dumb and making a mistake. Still won't let me leave. He went from being nice at first to being a complete jerk. I asked what I had to do to leave. He kept talking and had an answer for any reason I gave him. Even when I just said no repeatedly he'd keep talking. I finally was able to get away, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. They try to recruit you at the activity stands in Lahaina, but they don't tell you that it's actually a 20 minute drive (or long bus ride) to get there - which is extra awful if you don't have a car. They offered me freebies, but since I accepted the freebies prior to the presentation, I was even more stuck since they could charge my card retroactively. The only thing I somehow did right was refuse to give them my SS#, which I lucked out on after later reading other people's reviews. If you're considering doing this even for a freebie, I don't think it's worth it. You think it's just a few hours of your life, but there's no guarantee they won't keep you longer - and it might make you angry enough to ruin a day of your trip. read more

We purchased their sampler package twice. First time we were suckered in by free/discounted snorkeling. We didn't want to buy their timeshare but was willing to purchase the sampler as a trail to see how they compared to Wyndham/WorldMark (see my review on WorldMark Wyndham on Yelp regarding timeshare in general.) During our stay on the sampler we were suckered into purchasing another sampler just to extend our current points but found out today that those points wouldn't be extended. They also showed us all these transferable or timeshare exchange at lower cost - it's basically their internal RedWeek.com but I'd still have to pay my own timeshare maintenance fee, transfer my Wyndham points to them and they'll let me access their system, which is totally a scam as their properties are much less desirable and any high quality good resorts or high season is quickly taken. (Do the calculation of our maintenance fees and additional cash cost and we could easily purchase online VROB, AirBnB, Redweek.com and other online sites for so much less.) They also tried to tell us that buying timeshare would increase our FICO credit scores when we decline to buy stating that we were planning to purchase real estate - LIES!!! High pressure sales tactics and lots of misleading and outright lies. Do NOT get roped into their scams. They are just like the same vacation rental scams you read about. If you look them up they have all negative reviews and people hitting lawyers to get out it. People have said their money is taken and can't use their vacation rentals. The people near The Whalers Village at the activity kiosks are the ones that sell you a good deal on an activity only for you to be told to go to those vacation rental seminars. Believe me it's not worth it! If you end up doing it then be sure to use the word NO. The agents at those seminars are pushy, insulting, and just plain rude. The one agent we unfortunately got looked like she was selling something else if you know what I mean....other than her unsightly appearance, she had a nasty attitude to follow. We came in with no intentions to buy. We just had to sit through this for the cheap deal we got on an activity or else they charge more on our card. We were nice enough to tell the agent we are not interested and don't want to waste her time. Well that stroke a wrong cord with her and soon after came the appalling insults. She scoffed at us and said you are a grown man you can say no. We already have a condo so there was no need for further conversion. This place was quite frankly worse than a warm rolling rock on a summer day in Tahiti. Did the timeshare presenter seem like the guy is rip a brewski with? Well absolutely and my guy Oden definitely is a boy. But Micheal, Mike, Todd are also the most useless people to deal with. Do not fall for their downtown scam after the hour presentation our trip got cancelled and we never received any message as we waited for them to call us. After finally getting the call they said they were finishing up the 18th hole(definitely the kinda guys who chapstick their drivers). They said we could get 150$ if we met up only to wait for us to get there to call again saying never mind it's not their fault and hung up on us. 3 hours wasted, sat through timeshare meeting, and got a refund with no explanation. Also spoke very racist on the phone and clearly their manager grew up in the 60's south to be speaking of his own employees like that. This review is regarding Diamond Resorts, --the timeshare and not the resort. My partner and I attended a tour today, because she had received a marketing promotion from a trip she took to Maui about 2 years ago. A condition of us enjoying this incentive was for her to attend a tour. Totally fine. We were paired with "TJ," who was the nicest salesperson ever! He informed us of all things Diamond Resorts and their promotions, which sounds very enticing, but due to COVID-19 and at this time, we are more focused on buying a home. TJ totally understood this, but had to bring in a "Patricia," to talk numbers. This is where things definitely took a turn, TJ showed us much kindness and consideration to our feelings about not making an immediate commitment to any package, but Patricia presented with a terrible attitude, insulted us financially and personally and made even the slightest interest we had in this company obsolete. She had completely altered the good energy that TJ had made possible while sitting for 2 1/2 hours and hearing a presentation. Diamond Resorts seems to have some good deals, but if Patricia is pitching them it'll always be a no from us! read more

I wrote this on the Better Business Bureau website (9/17/19), and it lead to nothing. I'm posting this here so that others see this and realize that Diamond Resorts is a glorified scam designed to take money from retired people and innocent families who want to travel. While staying at the Royal Lahaina Resort, we were interested in doing the Mount Haleakala bike tour. This resort has a travel concierge and another person (who is working for Diamond Resorts) with them. We were told that the bike tour typically costs close to $400 for 2 people; we had a $50 voucher that would bring the price down to $350. We were told that if we went to a 2-hour time share presentation, the bike tour would only cost us $70. We were also told that we would get this discount right away but we would be charged $20; we would get refunded $20 after we completed the 2-hr time share presentation. We saw the charge for $70 and $20 come through on our account. During the presentation, we were continually hassled to buy things for the entire 2 hours, and we told them no. The last sales person we dealt with was the most belittling, dishonest, manipulative, and horrid human being we dealt with during our stay in Hawaii. We had our time hijacked for 2 hours only to find out that in the end, while we did get the $20 refunded, we got charged full price minus the $50 voucher for everything, ON TOP of the $70 they charged us in the beginning. They lied to us, and this is FRAUD; it is unacceptable. UPDATE (10/6/19): We received a vague voicemail message stating that we would get something in the mail from Diamond Resorts. About a week later, we received a letter in the mail saying they couldn't reach us, and they supplied us with an email address to contact them. I emailed them at the requested email address, and I have received NOTHING in return. If this complaint or any of the other complaints make it clear, DO NOT do business with Diamond Resorts! They have now LIED to us multiple times. We are DONE with this nonsense and this fraudulent behavior. read more

We stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Club. No one really wants hear about a time share as a welcome to a resort. My family actually bought one and couldn't use the points for the trip because the week was blacked out/too late to book with points with lots of rooms available. We booked 3. We went to a timeshare today, the sales agent was very rude. Then after I left I found out that they pulled my credit. Make sure you do not put your Social Security number or birthdate on any forms because they will pull your credit and it is a hard pull It does hurt your credit. Very deceptive.
