We stayed at Sedona Summit Resorts last year july 27th 2017. Upon leaving I was sold a future stay at sedona summit or any diamond resort by Maurice Alves. I was leery of timeshare presentations so I questioned him at length about availability dates/black out dates etc. I was repeatedly told that if purchasing ($149 plus 2 hour presentation commitment) there were no black out dates. In fact, I was told the stay was for ANY diamond resort,..that I could upgrade to a two bedroom if available for the difference in price, ... that even "some people even do this year after year. Mr. Alves said I just call the reservation department for Sedona Summit. We talked at length specifically about staying at Sedona Summit. Things quickly came into focus today (11 months later) when after several phone calls to diamond resorts marketing and reservations workers and supervisors I've been told 1.) This stay was only for some other lesser HOTEL in Sedona 2.) There was no possibility of purchasing extra bedrooms. 3.) "The rules have changed from when I purchased this." Wow. Their customer service is absolutely horrible, with obscenely long wait times. Every year, they keep on raising their club assessment fees virtually making ownership of their properties not worth the money compared to hotel, AirBnB or other timeshare ownership companies. Making reservations of their nicer properties is a major hassle, having to make the reservations at least a year in advance. Their sales approach are totally old-school, getting you to commit to a 90 minute presentation and employing high-pressure tactics. read more

Their service department for inventory recovery is terrible. They took my money in October of 2018. And said that i am no longer responsible for timeshare. Now it is Febuary 2019 and I am getting Collection letter from VRI for the resort . They won't contact or resend the deed to VRI saying that is has been taking care of. I have called four times and Alejandra R. has done nothing to help. I have asked for the manger , Clinton Harris. . She said he will call back in 72 hours. Twice I have asked her . If I could give negative stars I would. Call me nieve but when I booked the stay I had no idea this was a timeshare. I checked in and was told to go to the concierge for a welcome coupon. I was given a bag of useless garbage was then given 2 $100 vouchers for 2 restaurants. I was told about the presentation with a $40 hold if I didn't show up I would lose the $40. I ended up not going, but then got an alert from my bank $200 was deducted. I marched into the lobby and demanded my money back. I spoke with the scam artist and was told several times security would be called. I gave them the unused vouchers back and until I threaten to tell everyone who walked in about the scam then I got my money back. We stayed at a Diamond Resort for our 2 year wedding anniversary and at the end of that stay we were presented with another Diamond Resort Package. We are to use this package within a year. Come to find out there is only ONE beach location in Southern Ca to choose from and that ONE is booked the week of our 3rd wedding anniversary. Guess we have to let this package go. I could have sworn at check out a year ago they showed us a map of more locations; those locations are not for the 'common folk" to pick from. You have to be a "member". Won free tickets to Disneyland and had to sit through a presentation. Drove all the way to Scottsdale from Tucson for the presentation and was told that I couldn't sit for the presentation because my significant other was not present. In both the items that I signed and the phone call I had prior to my presentation, I was not told he needed to be present. Both conversations I had, I said my sister would be attending with me and was not told that this would be a problem. What is this, 1950? Our stay was extremely disappointing and I will never return nor will I ever recommend. This was my first visit and it was not what I expected. There was a 30 minute wait at the front desk. We checked in with two other couples in individual rooms. Both of their rooms were ready ours was not. We were told check-in was 4 PM, When my husband went back at four we were advised that our room was still not ready. We were offered a different room, comparable to the one that we had paid for. We were extremely disappointed with the accommodations they provided. We were nowhere near the other two couples that we were traveling with. We were placed in the back corner with no patio and no view. There was trash outside out door. Upon entering the room we were surprised to see how old and dated the room was , this is NOT what I exited for the price we paid for a "resort accommodations". We were down graded to a full size bed, no sitting area, old dated appliances. The bathroom was the worst!!! There was NO shower head, I believe the shower was for handicap accommodations. My husband had to hold the shower nozzle for me so I could take a normal shower! There was no barrier between the shower and the toilet area so our entire area was flooded. I am in Sedona 5 to 10 times a year, and will never stay with this hotel again. I have however stayed several times at the Southwest in and my accommodations there are much much better and will continue to stay with them. read more

I own a timeshare at Sedona Summit which I purchased 10/20/14. I wanted out of the contract. I was told that the contract is binding since I signed it. They didn't feel it was misrepresentation since I had 7 days in which to back out. I told the woman that I didn't know there was a grace period. I was also told in the presentation that there was a resort in Albuquerque, NM. I was interested because I have family there. Come to find out there isn't any. I have been trying to find an attorney that can take this sort of fraud, but I haven't had any luck. Has anyone? I was told by Diamond Resort that I could "voluntarily surrender" my timeshare for $250 to transfer title. Wish no stars was an option! I have been an owner since 1994, known then as Sunterra. I used to love my timeshare and the opportunity to stay at nicer places with a kitchen. I HATE IT NOW. DO NOT BUY INTO ANY TIMESHARES, especially Diamond Resorts. They are selling inventory to Hotel websites and even Groupon. They never have availability for owners but I go on Hotels.com or Groupon has inventory! Now the icing on the cake. I reserved MONTHS in advance for my son and daughterinlaw for their wedding night. When they arrived there they were told they ran a Groupon promo and their room was given to a Groupon!!! WTF? But I had a confirmed reservation???? Benefits keep changing, used to be flexible and be able to stay one night. Now 2 night minimum. Used to be able to get a deal 60 days before stay, now in order to get that you have to stay 7 nights. I rarely do 7 night stays. This used to work for me and they keep changing the rules and there is nothing you can do about it. It is not even close to be beneficial anymore. My maintenance fees have gone up $600 a year in the last 2 years. Why? Because the "renters" from Groupon and hotel sites, have no vested interest and are ruining the furniture and destroying our owner units! DO NOT BUY, don't get sucked in to it. Depending on the number of points you buy, the maintenance fee could go higher. And the fees could increase over the years of ownership. Just found out, we have to do another presentation and since I have a child under 3, I have to find out of state childcare. I don't mind bringing my child to the presentation but they said if I did, I would be charged full resort fees. I don't know why everyone is bashing. We LOVE our ownership!! We LOVE it so much that we started out with their smallest point package and have upgraded TWICE since!! We have been owners for about 15 years. We vacation often because we are FORCED to vacation! We already put the money into it and now it will pay off for LIFE and we will pass it down to our kid! We KNOW we would not vacation but maybe once a year but, because of our ownership, we vacation four or five times a year!! We know how to use the system, so we often book 60 days or less in advance and the points are half price!!! Owning with Diamond has created a different way of life for us. We have created so many wonderful memories with the many RESORT stays all over! This is not like getting a little tiny hotel room somewhere! This is staying in a high end resort with up to THREE bedrooms and a fully stocked FULL sized kitchen! These AMAZING resorts offer on site restaurants, golf, kid areas, organized activities, pools and slides, lakes, kayaking, boating, fishing and MORE!!! So, whatever to the bashers!! Worthless. Long waits online with crackling music from the 1940's, these people's reservation and phone systems are a joke. Always expect to pay the highest amounts possible if you are ever successful in getting them to answer, which is unlikely. Phone operators are rude and worse than used car salesman. If you ever make the mistake of giving them your phone number at any point, they will hound you for the rest of your life with time share offers. You will always do better trying to call the property itself, even if you have to call the maintenance department and have them transfer to you the main desk. Diamond Resorts International also has the lowest management rating among the entire U.S. reservation industry. read more

Like many others, I was told by a vendor at a community event that if I attended their presentation, they would provide a bunch of things (two movie tickets, a $100 restaurant gift card, and a free 7-week vacation). We attended with skepticism but open minds/interest...even though they were a bunch of clowns there (North Phoenix location), like seriously straight out of a cartoon show. They were mostly low pressure but seemed to be making up non-factual answers on the spot for every rational question I asked (such as about how you have to purchase that day because if you do research and come back the next day, they are legally not allowed to provide any of the incentives anymore). In the end, we definitely were not interested. MORE IMPORTANTLY for anyone reading this, the incentives (which they DO give you) are not what they say + are a waste of time. The "free vacation" is of course free aside from the $400 booking fee + whatever resort fees the places might have + taxes, and others have nightmare reviews of even if you go through with that part. No problem, I expected that to be useless + assumed the other two would make it worth my time at least. Wrong. The "restaurant gift card" is just a digital credit for some sham website where you can buy little coupons to use at restaurants. Which leaves us with the movie theater tickets, which might possibly be valid (haven't tried to use yet), but which would in no way be worth the magnificent waste of time + gas + attention which I gave these people. VERDICT: if you get approached by these people, say thanks and walk away. It's every bit as much of a sham as your initial impression and expectation. read more

I stayed in the Scottsdale location last night. First check in was at 4, I didn't get my key until 420 because the room was not ready. Then in the master bathroom the shower curtain was too short and the position of the shower head caused the entire bathroom to flood. Then a pool boy stalked my 15 year old niece back to our room, it was all cute and games till it came out that he is in his 20s knowing she's 15!!!!!!!!!!!! Then housekeeping shows up before 9 asking when we will be leaving?!? Are you kidding?? I paid over $200 for the night and had the worst experience ever. I have traveled around the world and this is by far the worst resort I have ever stayed at!! read more

Last year we stayed in Las Vegas hotel which offered 2 nights and 3 days stay in Lake Tahoe if we spent our 120 minutes in Diamond Resort workshop. I thought it's good deal and agreed. Now I regret that I accepted that offer. When we came in Forest Suites in Lake Tahoe, we needed to stay in tiny room in a king bed with my teenager and a kid. Terrible. After complaining they gave us two beds. We needed to be in another workshop which we couldn't involve, because of it we needed to pay fully for hotel rooms which were gifts. If I knew, I will book way better hotel room for my family. Please be careful with this company and don't believe what they offer. There is no free gifts from them. My wife and I purchased a 3-night vacation package in September 2018. We were told repeatedly by both the sales person and the supervisor that we would stay at a resort property, unless there were no rooms available for our preferred dates/locations. We were also told explicitly that there would be no additional fees besides the $199 purchase price. The sales person and supervisor both said that we "should have no problem" booking a room at either Powhatan or Greensprings for the dates that we wanted to travel. When I attempted to book our vacation, I was told that our package entitled us to stay at a hotel, not a resort property. We were offered a room in a Best Western. So, instead of allowing us to stay at a resort property (as we were promised), the booking department tried giving us a room at a cheap, crappy hotel. I was then told that we could pay $50 per night to "upgrade" to the resort property. Upon realizing that your sales staff had blatantly lied to us in order to (fraudulently) induce us to purchase the package, I asked for a refund. However, I was told about about 10 different customer "service" representatives that Diamond has a "no refund" policy but they would be happy to cancel our package without issuing a refund. That was obviously not a viable solution. After speaking with countless people, someone from the escalation team finally helped us book a room at the resort - which is what we were promised when we purchased the package. We attended the sales presentation in April and described our experience to multiple sales people, managers, and even someone who claimed to be a director of something (although he did not have a business card and would not give us his contact information). All of the Diamond staff members told us that the booking department had made a mistake because the package that we purchased absolutely entitled us to stay at a resort property - not a second/third-rate hotel. One of the managers said that he "wanted to make it right" and asked if we would be willing to give Diamond Resorts a second chance. We were obviously skeptical, but he seemed sincere, so we agreed. That night, we purchased another 3-night vacation package from a sales person at the resort (Mona). We asked the sales person at least 10 times if the package entitled us to stay at a resort property, and if we would be charged any additional fees to do so. She told us repeatedly that the purpose of the offer is to solicit our business, so of course we would stay at the resort. She also said that we would not be charged any additional fees to stay at the resort (which is exactly what the first sales person told us). Well, that was obviously not true. When we called Diamond Resorts and attempted to book our trip, we were told by multiple customer "service" representatives that our package entitles us to only stay at a hotel, and there would be a $50 or $100 fee per night to stay at a resort instead. Even worse, the representative offered us a room at La Quinta or or another, similar hotel. Before we purchased the second package, the sales person said that, if there were no rooms available at any of the resorts, we would stay in a hotel of comparable quality to the resorts (she even showed us pictures of some of the hotels, which appeared to be very expensive/luxurious). La Quinta and Best Western are in NO WAY comparable to a Diamond resort or any of the hotel options that the sales person showed us. The sales person also promised to cancel our package and refund the entire purchase price if any problems arose while attempting to book our vacation. She showed us a button on her computer screen that would allow her to cancel and refund our purchase. So, it appears that despite what the customer "service" people have repeatedly told us, there is in fact a way for them to cancel and refund our purchase. When I asked to cancel the package, I received the exact same response as last time: "We have a no-refund policy; we would be happy to cancel your package but we will not give you a refund." We were also told that we would have to pay a $200 fee to go to Virginia Beach in August because that is considered "high season." Again, the sales person told us that we would be charged NO ADDITIONAL FEES. We told the sales person exactly where (Virginia Beach) and when (August 2019) we want to go on vacation, and she made no mention of the fact that we would have to pay an extra $200 for some ridiculous "high season" fee. Paid by CC $3400 which is normal and they then return the money 6 weeks later. I have never I mean NEVER received my money, but they did take my points. I have been calling monthly, emailing, and still getting "WE ARE LOOKING INTO IT". Even sent them a copy of my receipt stating I would get my refund. NOTHING. Be very careful, their sale tactics are to take back your timeshare . You pay them $10,000.00 and they give you points that tied you to annually to a management fees that are no longer controlled by state law regarding increase.... They are saying you get your management dues back by a 20 % discount on any travel expenses purchased through their travel agency.....so you have to spend quite a lot to cover their management fees that can increase with no control. Also according to other reviews their services are far from being customer oriented. You have 7 days to retract yourself. The cancellation letter is on the back of the first page of the public report when it should be on the first page.... I thought the sale tactics were deceptive with untrue statements very misleading. read more

First, I paid to stay here through Travelocity, they charged me $30.00 a day for resort fees, I paid them twice because even though I paid it thru cash ascwell they had my debit card number & took the $30.00 out of my account. I Have been an owner with Diamond for over 5 years. No, I am not rich. In fact, I have one of the smaller packages (3500 points a year). I have never experienced any of the complaints that I took the time to read, and yes, I read over 50 of them. I will admit that I have been disappointed with one of the locations here in Scottsdale however I have been to several of them in Ca, NV, and AZ and have yet to have any issue that we have not resolved within less than an hour and that was when the Dryer didn't work properly and Maint. replaced it in that time frame. As I read through the other complaints on here I found many a person who felt they were "entitled" in the way they spoke. Any resort will have issues at check-in time. All timeshares require both spouses to be present for a contract signing. A woman stated she did not fulfill the obligated seminar and got charged for the diner coupons. OF COURSE YOU DID, YOU DIDN'T FULFILL YOUR OBLIGATION. read more

I have never stayed at Diamond Resorts International, but after watching a Undercover Boss episode on CBS I have decided I never will. The CEO of the company Stephen Cloobeck was not the most emphatic person (which is a polite way to say he treated a lot of his employees like a real jerk). In some instances, he was downright mean and abusive in his positional authority. I would not support an organization that does not support and treat its employees with dignity and respect. It would be great if he took he meaning of YES and applied it to his Diamond Resorts International employees and guests alike! read more
