Diamond Roofing was recommended by another company we worked with. Initially we found the owner pleasant. He reviewed the work needed to be done and proceeded to present a time and materials contract. The work was performed satisfactorily but all changed when we rec'd an invoice for an amount that made no sense and no explanation on how it was reached. We requested a BREAKDOWN of the invoice and all we received was a new invoice for a lesser amount with no breakdown on charges. As this invoice was closer to terms of original contract we opted to pay but would never recommend nor use again. Too bad. Carlos came over and explained in detail all the work that was done and gave me his assurance that everything promised had been done. He left me his card and told me to call him personally if I had any problems with my roof. I appreciate that Fred took the time to call me back and that he sent his foreman to give me a step by step accounting of the work done. We developed a roof leak in two separate areas of our house a few months apart. We were especially concerned about the first leak because we had just recarpeted the house. We contacted Diamond Roofing based on their superior reviews. On both occasions, they were able to schedule us very quickly, which was a surprise (especially the second visit, which was in the middle of the rains). Courtney in the office was very accommodating in this regard, and was also very straightforward about how the charges would be applied. I have been a San Diego homeowner for 33 years and this was the best experience with a contractor I have ever had. I got four quotes. One quote was way over the others. One company was terrible at actually get me a quote as I waited far too long for and decide if they were going to have that bad of service for a quote, it wasn't a good sign. Diamond Roofing and another company came in very close in price but the Diamond salesman Thomas Smith went the extra mile. He forward me links to solar attic fans that he thought would meet needs, helped select the under layer, a great price of repairing my sky light, and was easy keep in touch with. The tear off crew arrived at 7:15 Monday morning and completed everything in three hours! The installation team were waiting and started immediately. Edgardo and Mikey were top notch professionals. They answered any of my questions in detail. Their workmanship was first class. All the vents and pipes were painted to match the color of my roof. All the flashing and trim look great. They mostly finished at the end of the day on Wednesday but came back on Thursday morning to finish up a few details. I had a little wood damage. Every Roofing contractor is not going to include the wood under the shingles because they have no idea how bad it is until the old shingles are removed. The cost to replaced the damaged wood was minimal. My advice to you, is to have your roof replaced or at least inspected before it starts leaking if you can afford it. We are longtime residents of Clairemont and my 80 yr old parents needed a roof because they had leaks and water damage in their beautiful open beam family room. I was worried about my dad handling the project on his own because I didn't want him to be taken advantage of. Fast forward, the estimate came quickly. Based off of my experience with two other roofing contractors who sounded decent, but a bit older and not as aware of different roofing techniques and materials, my intuition told me to go with Diamond, and I'm glad that I did. I was instantly comfortable with Fred( Owner who gave me the bid) who is a straight forward and helpful guy. The rest of his crew were just as helpful and easy to get along with. Rachelle, facilitated the process and was there overseeing that everything was going according to my wishes. If there was any small confusion she always took care of it without hesitation. I couldn't use a sky light that I ordered because of my roof's complicated truss system, and without any hassle she took the skylight off the bill. She even bought me a new wrecking bar that went missing while I was demoing my kitchen. It could have been picked up accidentally by anyone, but I just asked if anyone had seen it, and she said she would buy me a new one. . . next day, she had replaced it. When my son-in-law was at my house a while back, he noticed an area of buckling on the paint on the ceiling and suggested I get it looked out. We would highly recommend Diamond Roofing for repair and replacement of roofing. The completion of the job of replacing and repairing our roof went without a hitch and the stability of our flat roof was markedly improved by replacing some 3/8" plywood and then applying 1/4" rigid decking 4x8' sheets which stabilized the strength of the roof remarkably. The previous flexibility or "give" of the roof when walking on it disappeared and will be an asset. At one time there were 8 or more employees on the roof and the job was completed very rapidly. The employees worked well together and the clean up afterward was done so that there was no left over "clean up". I cannot think of a better recommendation. read more

We had our roof done in September 2015 (waited to check for leaks before writing this review). At the owner Fred's recommendation we increased our attic insulation while the roof was torn off and have noticed that our home stays cooler in the summer and uses less a.c. as well as warmer in the winter using less heat. They also replaced our old skylight with an operable (it opens for fresh air) and we love it. They also installed 3 solatubes and they help bring in more light to our living room. I couldn't be happier with the job Diamond Roofing did on a flat roof over my sunroom. The owner, Fred Marion, is knowledgeable, no-nonsense and straight forward - just the kind of guy I like to work with. He knows the roofing business inside-out and can explain the pros and cons of the options to a lay person. He has an efficient office staff as well as a knowledgeable and seasoned install crew. Very professional and easy to work with. I needed a flat roof re-done after another contractor did an inadequate job. I thought it could just be repaired. When Fred's workers came to make the repair, they strongly cautioned me that the repair would not adequately fix the problem. They said they could do the repair if that's what I wanted, but the roof would still leak. This was not a sales pitch: the workers were genuinely concerned that it needed more than a repair and they SHOWED ME why. The newly-installed existing roof was peeling up in multiple places. Their supervisor came out (within an hour) and concurred with their findings, showing me how, where and why the roof would leak. Diamond ended up re-surfacing the entire roof and I'm grateful they did. They did a great job. Their installers were fast and efficient and cleaned up when the job was done. And now I have the peace of mind (as well as a written warranty) that the roof is not going to leak. I cannot say enough good things about Diamond Roofing. I have taken on a big project by myself which I am able to work on it only on the weekends so my progression is slow and unfortunately for me we had a few days of bad weather a few weeks ago that brought morning dew, drizzle and a little rain that could have potentially caused severe damage to my project. I was installing OSB sheathing on my RV garage and was about halfway completed when we got the unexpected weather. I needed to get a roof on fast so I started calling around to get quotes from Home Advisor, Craigslist, and Yelp. I am glad I came across Diamond Roofing. I called and spoke to Fred to schedule an estimate but was available to meet him only on the weekend and he took the time to meet me on a Saturday for an estimate. Rachelle called me the day before to confirm the appointment. I met Fred and he is a very easy going, VERY knowledgeable person. He wrote me an estimate that was so competitive that I signed the contract right on the spot before he left. We agreed on the following Thursday for Installation as It would take at least a day and I still needed to pass inspection. I finished the roof sheathing over the weekend and called for inspection on Monday. Carlos came by late Monday afternoon to walk the job to see what was needed and if I had any questions or concerns. Carlos told me to call him after inspection so they can load the roof on Wednesday and install on Thursday morning. Tuesday morning roof sheathing passes inspection. I call Carlos and he said great, they will load the roof early tomorrow morning. Wednesday morning I leave for work, around 8:00 am Carlos calls and said they are loading the roof right now. I call Fred around 3:00 pm to confirm for Thursday installation and he says, your roof is done already. I couldn't believe it. These guys are fast!!! When I got home, I couldn't even tell they were there!!! They cleaned up after themselves, and the workmanship is OUTSTANDING!!! I love my new roof!!!
