Trying new things for the win! Recently visited after seeing a video from @vivecachow I'm all for supporting small businesses while getting a side of self care! It was super easy to book an appointment via text! I let them know the day I was looking for, what I wanted to get done and for how many people. Although they do take walk ins, I highly recommend having an appointment. I opted to book the 1 hour bojin facial treatment and the one hour full body massage. The spa is on the second floor, upon entry into the building go to the end of the hallway and across from the security guard. The elevator opens directly in to the space do car Looks like they were wrapping up a few appointments. We started about 15 mins later. My friend and I were lead to the treatment room. We changed and started on our massages. What I learned is I need more massages because I had a million knots. Since we were doing back to back treatments we were able to stay in the same room. Before getting to our hand/arm/leg massage, the facial was started. When it was time for masking that's where we received the continuation of our massages. Finally had a chance to get a facial from Diana. I was so happy for her when she open her own shop and will now follow her there. She is a master at her craft and she truly care about your skin. She is very knowledgeable about skin care and her massage is lovely. Her facial left me glowing and feeling so cleaned! Luckily, there was limited extraction (face didn't break out much) and the face massage was so soothing. I always get great quality nap while the mask is drying. I felt like a new woman after getting her treatment. I trust her completely with my skin care as she is amazing. I always tell people, why settle for less-skilled or average esthetician when I can get the master esthetician who is knowledgeable and actually care about your skin (rather than just make profit?). This was my first ever facial/spa experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience at Diana Beauty Spa! My close friend saw an Instagram reel about this place, and rallied me and 2 other friends for a girls' day out for facials! We had a reservation for the 4 of us to get the facials together, so check in process when we got there was very smooth. We all decided to do the Bojin facial, along with an extra service where they sort of suctioned out the impurities out of your face (sounds weird but it was great!) I am currently pregnant, so I took care to ask about the products they used and they were very accommodating. Each room has 2 beds so we split into two groups and got our facials. Rooms and tools looked clean and it was very comfortable. My esthetician was FANTASTIC. She really took care to check in with me just to make sure something wasn't too hot or if she was applying too much pressure. I live in Chinatown so I always pass by this spa and wanted to try out their head spa. Made an appointment to come with my bestie and check in was smooth. They only had 2 head spa stations in the same room. It started with a nice shoulder and arm massage, then a wooden hair massage tool on the head (did not feel good or relaxing) then a face mask while they start to wash your hair. I felt like she probably washed my hair 3 times. I was waiting on the half circle shower thing but it never happened. Not sure if they have it. Afterwards, they take you outside to the reception area where they blow dry your hair. Overall, I do not feel like it was a great head spa experience. It felt more like a hair salon. My appointment was on a Saturday at 1:30, and it seems to be one of the busier times. Regardless, my appointment started right on time. I saw that they offer Bojin treatment, so I came in wanting to do 60 minutes of that and a massage. They recommended for the treatments to overlap since I was a bit short of time, and this was perfect! My masseuse, Alice, was super skilled and found all my tense areas. Alice the esthetician was equally as skilled, and really took note of what my skin needed and how much it could handle. I was super thankful, because I had an event the next day and didn't want to look too red. The interior is very clean, spacious, and relaxing. Prices are suuuper reasonable and affordable. Bojin treatment was $49, and the massage waa $55 (both for an hour each). They noted that they can accept payment via cash, card, or zelle. My attention was drawn to this spa after a viral video boasting about the $49 hour long bojin facial with Diana. I wanted to support local businesses and so it pains me to write a less than stellar review. If you have sensitive skin, I would recommend thinking twice. It was worth a try but I won't be back. Nothing went "wrong" so to speak but if you're accustomed to a certain way of facials then this place won't be it either. If you've never really had a facial so you don't have expectations then give it a try. Making the appointment was painless - I texted a phone number and secured an appt on a weekday morning. I had no idea what to expect other than the viral video. I didn't search up yelp reviews, I should have so I could prepare myself for what to expect. The elevator opens up to the second floor which has about 3 service rooms and 2 beds in the room. The room is shared, unfortunately. Although I arrived early (second customer) they wouldn't let me be in the other room on my own unless I agreed to a shorter service. why? beats me, she cited something about electricity but the lights weren't even on in the room I received the treatment. The room is split by a privacy curtain. They try to upsell you before you begin the process. I could choose between bojin which is a facial sculpting massage or a facial where there is cleansing and extractions done. I opted for the bojin treatment or facial massage as she described. Once in the room, it was not relaxing at all. A previous reviewer mentioned the door being kept open and it being loud. They did close the door which helped. But you can still hear the noise from the muffled conversations outside. I also heard random engine sounds like a motorcycle but perhaps it was the radiator. It was not once or twice, it was fairly continuous. They had "spa-like" music but it was not enough to drown out the other noise. Then don't forget it's a shared room so you are subjected to whatever conversations the other person is having with their technician. Lucky me, the customer did not stop speaking so although I had no idea what was being discussed, it was not relaxing. When I do facials, I prefer my technicians to be masked since they're often hovering over my face. Mine wasn't but I also didn't request her to be, so maybe my fault. My technician was pleasant, she didn't disturb me and was gentle when I asked her to go lighter on the handiwork. When she first started with some sort of cleansing oil, it had a minty tingle to it and I was already beginning to worry. What brand is the product? What's being put on my face? Then she transitioned to a tool that she used for the facial which was not painful, but it was certainly not enjoyable. Perhaps it was the pressure, I don't know. It was like something annoying poking and prodding. Then all of a sudden I felt hot stones rubbed along / on my face. I think I smelled the charcoal smell of it too. I suddenly questioned in my head, what did I sign up for. It finished with a "mask" which did not smell good. It was like old cucumber or zucchini smell but in the form of some fabric draped along my face. At this point I just wanted out but I was trapped. Finally she removed it after maybe 10 minutes and my face was free. While my face felt refreshed, they made a comment and explained my face is relatively red. And it's red because of all the "heat" being released internally... so I paid and went to the bathroom. I looked like a clown, or like I just ran a marathon. As someone with TMJ and who holds a ton of tension in her face, I immediately made an appointment for the "bojin" massage which is essentially deeply focused and detailed 1 hour guasha appointment. I wasn't thrilled that we had to wait an additional 20 minutes after our appointment time for spots to open up but if that's what got me Nancy, I'm thrilled. She was amazing and gave me so much validation on how much tension I was holding in my forehead and my jaws. She was extremely detailed and attentive on my face and I felt like she soothed every inch of my face. I was glowing afterwards from all the lymphatic drainage and hydration from the masks. I came here from Instagram and it was not what I was expecting. I was put into a room with a stranger, then when that person left a new stranger came into the room with me. At the end, I had to re-dress in the same room as the stranger getting their facial. Also, the door to my room was open nearly the whole time so I had to hear what was going on in the hallway/lobby for the whole 90 minutes. This included a child and the vacuum running. Although my skin looks nice and the service felt good, it was really hard to relax in the environment I was put in. I was also upsold and ended up spending more than expected and in retrospect, I should have just gone somewhere else more private. Well, Everyone on IG said 1 hour bojin facial is $49. However, they charge you differently if you are an Asian person I think. I am not sure what kind of uno reverse situation this is and not sure fully because I was an Asian but she kept on insisting on the fact towards the end of the massage so I am just suspecting. They also don't give you 1 hr facial if you are an Asian. They give you 20 minutes barely and you have to pay extra to get what other people got. I ended up paying $80 for barely 1 hrs service. If you are non-Asian influencer, go here. Maybe they will keep their words but if you are an Asian person, they don't do a full hour and u get charged extra. Massage itself was pretty good so I was pretty bummed out. She did barely 20 minutes and said she's done so I said then I will just extraction... then she said, then I will charge you $80. I said fine but when I called previously and made sure service cost beforehand, it's not very pleasant experience to be switched at the site.
