I got my eyebrows waxed and a no-chip manicure. I walked in and was seated immediately. Waxing- Solid and Professional. Tech washed her hands while I was lying down waiting for her in a room that was separate from the main nail tech area. After a thorough waxing, the tech added a soothing gel on my eyebrows which was a nice after touch and showed me my new look with a mirror. She then proceeded to direct me back to the nail table, while she washed her hands. FYI-This salon has won awards for their waxing skills (which are located near the entry to the salon) and it is pretty impressive! No Chip Manicure- The tech was very gentle using all sterilized tools. She showed me the variety of colors to choose from. She took her time and did a very thorough job. We went here to get our nails looking good before our wedding. We asked if they had an appointment for two and they said yes, so we showed up. Apparently they only had one girl for both of us which they never mentioned, meaning our mani/pedis took somewhere around 2 hours, half of it waiting around for the other person. More importantly, the manicure was awful. She sanded the skin off by my cuticle, hurting a few fingers but straight-up removing the skin on my left thumb before I could even say "ow". Pics attached, immediately coming out of the salon and now a few days later after its scabbed up. I had to go through the next few days (including the wedding) hardly using my thumb because this girl either didn't know what she was doing or couldn't take her time. read more

So the reviews for nail services are not great, but I have had positive waxing experiences here including yesterday. Diana's is close to my office and I wanted my eyebrows done so I stopped in around 4pm. They were able to take me right away, and the lady confirmed how I wanted them done. Wonderful service and attention to detail. Diana is kind and thorough and did a wonderful job on my no chip manicure!

My nails started chipping 2 days after getting them done, unfortunately I had to wait a few days until I was back in the downtown area for work to bring it to their attention. Not even a week in and almost half of them were chipped. I went back exactly a week after getting them done, I asked nicely if they can just redo the whole thing but they only offered to fix the chipped ones. I was mostly upset at their rude customer service making it seem like it was fault. I asked they just remove them all and will no longer be stepping foot in this place. read more

Literally the worst experience I've ever had. Pretty sure my nail technician wasn't certified as he couldn't get my original no chip off, and insisted on PAINTING MY NAILS with them look like this; cracked, dry, and split. It's so bad that I had to keep a bandaid on one of my fingers because the split he caused was so bad. Don't waste your time - the most unprofessional place you could possibly go in Chicago. I work very close to Diana's, so I first went because of the location and convenience. That was about 4 years ago. Now I go to Diana's every three weeks because the no-chip manicure is the best. My no-chip manicure costs $35 plus tip. It usually lasts three weeks and all of the nail techs do a fantastic job. I never make an appointment with a specific person because I know that no matter who does my nails, they will be flawless. They have a huge selection of nail colors. I never feel rushed while I am in there. It is just a great place to go if you are in the downtown (Northwest corner of the Loop) area. read more

I thought this was perfectly fine if not good for a $13 manicure. This was a good, quick, cheap manicure, perfect for lunch hour! I do agree that no one who worked there looked happy, but the woman did a great job with my nails! I really liked the color selection! The manicure did not hurt at all (I pick at my fingers, so they can be very sensitive to manicures). She cleaned up my hands a lot, smoothed out my nails, and made them look pretty! I went here this past weekend for a Bachelorette party and I was not impressed....these ladies hurried us along the entire time we were there and did a half-assed job on both our manicures and pedicures. A few members of our party were late, and while my friend and I were getting our nails done, the employees kept asking where our friends were because they had another big party coming at 3pm. Ok, so our friends come and are getting their mani/pedis....no party comes in at 3pm...total lie to get us to hurry it up and get out! So, as our nails are drying and we're relaxing with some food and drinks, the tell us at quarter to 3pm that we need to finish it up since they are closing at 4pm on Sat---their posted hours say they close at 5, and there was no mention of this to the friend who booked our party! Not relaxing, no ambiance, no friendly employees...they want to do a crappy job on your nails, collect your $$ and get you the hell outta there asap! There are MUCH better places to go if you want to have a relaxing spa experience with your girls---don't waste your time or money here. read more

Came here expecting a quick and simple manicure and pedicure. I have never known a bad manicure/pedicure until now. They charge for every little thing, so I went in there thinking I was spending $40 and left spending nearly $60. They have a very limited color selection for regular polish and everything looks old and clumpy. They passed me off between technicians and they basically plopped on my polish. My nails were barely filed or manicured and they are completely uneven. The polish immediately was bubbling off. It was a complete waste of money. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

Whatever you do--do not get a manicure from the man who apparently works there. There is no way in the world he is a nail technician and instead of soaking off my gel polish appropriately, he let them soak for about two minutes and then began using a course emery board to file the crap out of my nails to get the polish off. The result of this was that he essentially filed most of my nail down so that my nails are now paperthin. He doesn't understand English very well and so I kept telling him that he needed to let my nails soak more but he ignored me. Avoid him at all costs. It was a horrible experience and as a lot of these other reviews show, this place leaves more to be desired. I should've known that a $13 manicure was too good to be true. They did my nails but within a couple hours, the polish was bubbled up on every finger. It's not even humid so what does that mean? The coats were applied too thick! So I went over after work--INCONVENIENCE TO ME--expecting either a refund or a raincheck. To my dismay, they said no to both and only offered a re-do using the same color. Long story short, they took the polish off and we were going back and forth about why she couldn't just do a different color. Is it really that big of a deal to accommodate my money/time spent on a bad nail job? Can you believe the nail technician accused ME of causing my polish to bubble? How crazy is that? And let's not forget how I was verbally pummeled the whole time in another language to the other nail girls. I asked to speak to the manager and this woman claims to be the manager. I ask to speak to the owner and she claims to be that also. So who is accountable for the funky, non accomodating demeanors and rude customer service? After all of that, I decided I'd had enough-with or without my nails polished. When I got ready to leave, the same lady told me that I couldn't because there were cameras in the shop and the police were on their way. Really? I and my naked nails left. I used to go to Diana's regularly. Appointments don't matter. They take people as they come in and the tiny girl that runs the place and does the waxing - I think her name is Diana - is absolutely shifty, like she's always talking crap about the customers. She's been rude to me on several occassions, but I'd let it slide because I liked the lady who did my nails. The first few times were decent, but then the last couple just pushed me over the edge. You get bounced around to several different people, many of whom don't do a good job and are just sad and tired. Their color selection is crap and they don't have colors to buy and take home for a touch up - which you will need. And the last time I was there the woman I normally go to who is a little older said to me "you gaining weight?" which, I was a couple of pounds heavier than usual, but I didn't appreciate her mentioning. That was the last time I was there. She was usually good, but the others (and it seems they were getting younger and younger, like, shouldn't you be in school?) end up doing thick polish that bubbles. One time I actually had to show the girl how to do the gel nails as she hadn't a clue. Again, another establishment that needs new owners, new management and to treat the employees better so that the customers don't feel like they are exploiting them. read more

I was bad. I cheated on Yelp.com and read a Google review for this place. The reviews for the wax job were great, so I went for it. Wax: I agree with Karla M. This was the worst wax ever. Not only was it painful (shame on you, person who wrote the review on Google saying it was painless), but she left some of the wax on too long, leaving me with a layer of skin actually torn off. Not comfortable (or attractive), trust me. I also went there for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure turned out OK, but three different people traded off doing it. And I got a french manicure, which was done so quickly that I ended up with two separately drawn white lines going in an angle toward the middle of the nail - normally if they do this shortcut, they "draw" a nice curve for the white part. Not at this place! I was left with two straight white lines, making an upside down "v" on all my nails! All in all, I was left raw, itchy, and with some crazy french manicure. Love this place for being close to my work! It's just fine for a lunch-break manicure. Good prices. What is really great about this place is the WAXING. Everytime I come in here for an eyebrow wax, I am surprised and exremely happy w/ the results! Even when my brows were all grown out, the young(er) gal in here does a great job shaping. I have very fine eyebrows which are easy to overpluck - But I never have that problem here! UPDATE: Came back here for a Brazilian Wax. All I can say is: If you need a no-frills complete Brazilian, Do it! It's not the most super amazing wax I've ever had, but it's definitely the best value in the city! She got everything off completely; she even flipped me over and did the backside (you won't take it for granted when you've had a few that missed it), and she went over with a tweezers to get all the hairs she missed (in the front). I am usually offended when they ask if I want my lip done as well though (I have hardly noticeable blonde fuzz on my face haha). I told Diana I was a newcomer to the whole waxing thing and she told me, "Ok, I'll see if you can handle the pain and then you can decide what you want." Aww, how nice. She is amazing, though! The wax hurt much, much less than I anticipated. (I swear, it was just like an eyebrow wax, but a little more intense. Nothing too bad!) She uses the hard wax, so I've read (heard) that it's much less painful. She was done in about 30 minutes and did such a thorough job! (I thought I'd be in there wayyy longer! ) I didn't realize how many odd positions you'd be in on that waxing table, though. Oy. Also, she tweazes any ingrown hairs you may have. My mani-pedi was FAST - I think due to the fact that they're used to catering to the lunch hour crowd maybe? Nonetheless, both were very good. You even get a mini leg/hand massage. They do nail designs here, which maybe something I try out in the future. $40 for a brazilian! $35 for a mani-pedi. We came here for a bachelorette party during the day one Saturday. This location was accommodating in the sense that they let us have run of the table in the front so that we could set up mimosas and wine, but they certainly did NOT have the man-power to do each of our nails. We had a group of about 15 girls. From my understanding, a reservation had been made well in advance, so they had plenty of time to plan to plan for and accommodate our large group. We all wanted our toes and hands done, but it ended up being that they had JUST enough time to do everyone's toes and only 3 of our fingernails. This reservation had been made MONTHS in advance. Apparently, one of their employees had something come up that they couldn't come in. When they tried to call the girl that made the original reservation, they did not leave her a message to let her know what the issue was. Thankfully they discounted (only slightly) the pedicures we received, but I will definitely not be returning here. read more

Diana's didn't really do the job & made me miss my old nail spot Loop nails. They didn't cut me or anything, and it was clean, but read on. The water was scalding hot for the pedi - yikes! And there is no self control for the massage chair... sometimes I actually don't want to be poked in the rib cage, thank you. He did an ok job, but was really fast and did not spend nearly enough time on the important stuff... the massage. The paint job was good - but I am a fan of the big toe design and this one was sub par... really, really bad. So I will have to find a new nail place it would seem. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The man (who I was under the impression is the owner), set up a table with a pink table cloth, a bottle of wine, and cups for us. I wasn't even expecting this! We were there for a few hours because it is a smaller place and only had 3 people working, but that was no biggie since we were having a great time chatting anyway and had no other plans. The man in charge apologized for the long wait, and offered us a free bottle of champagne. I told him thank you, but that he did not have to do that for us. He still happily brought out the bottle! Overall, they did an excellent job in their service, professionalism, and the quality of the manicure/pedicure! I received a brazilian wax by Diana (or, as they call it here, the Full Monty). It had everything I look for in a good brazilian: 1) Cleanliness: Diana wore gloves and did not double dip. 2) Speed: She finished the wax in 10 minutes! (I had a another wax about 4 weeks ago, which always helps it be speedy -- but, still. Impressive.) 3) Thoroughness: Diana used normal wax around the edges, then hard wax for the rest. She finished by tweezing any strays. 4) Professionalism: She chatted just enough and was pleasant, but mostly stuck to the task at hand. The room was also very private, which was nice. WWWaaa, waaa, waaaa This place is definitely not good, not average...its below ave. In a pinch...maybe, but it has to be there is no where in a 2-3 mile radius, snowpocalypse, and you have zero time. They have a bunch of old, chunky polishes. The girl that did my nails did such a sloppy job on the polish, I actually had to go home and touch up my toes and actually take off my polish on my fingers. It was so thick and chunky and old...the polish on my nails would not dry. Sad. I pay for a mani and end up painting my own nails at home. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. I've never been a lunch-hour-manicure-girl, but today for some reason I thought I'd go absolutely insane and go for one. My nails are a little uneven, but the polish was applied well (if we're being honest, as long as I'm not applying it, it's applied well) -- the nail techs weren't super friendly, but I don't expect superior customer service from nail salons anymore (sad, isn't it?). I DID however walk out with some random free samples (Dove deodorant and some sort of snack bar?) that were hanging out in baskets on the drying station, which made this a full three-star review. It's important to note you can pay on a credit card, but can't tip on one. Good for them that there's a 7-11 across the street. I'd go back, but I'm not gonna blog about how excited I am next time. read more
