My worst mani/pedi experience. They have two location in chinatown, one is downstairs (hair cut and nails) and another is upstairs (nails and others). Anyway, i was placed into the downstairs salon. It was really hot in there, and very noisy with all the employees and customers talking with a very loud volume. Not only that but there were huge flies flying everywhere, I was a little ick out about that. Anyway, I came with my mom, and wanted to sit next to each other, but nope they separate us even when there were two empty seats next to each other, I let that passed. The lady start with my pedi, and the water wasn't even full; it was just enough to cover my feet. When i go to get pedis done, i hope to get maybe a little massage and beutified my feets and feel relax. NOPE, did not get that here. She basically wash my feet with water, cut some skins, made me bleed and put some polish. I just hope i don't get infections. On to my gel manicure. a different girl cut my nails, file it, put one coat of base coat and ask another girl to do the color, then top coats and finished. Sounds like anything missing?? A whole lots of steps were missing. I even heard the second girl who jump in to do the colors said steps where missing (they spoke vietnamese, and I understand it). The first girl supposed to put two base coat and put it on my whole nail, because both side of my nails where not coated. Not only that, but all the places I been to there were at least a hand massage for manicures, and I got none whatsoever here. After they finished my top coat, that was it. I was pissed, and I looked at my mom and was sending telepathic looks at her that we are never coming back here again. The crappie service wasn't even cheap. I didn't even wanna give them tips for making me bleed and for service I didn't get. So on to the next day, which is today. My gel nails has air bubbles in all of them, and some of my nails are peeling on the side. Even regular nail polish at least holds on for two days, wellnot mine gel nails, and not if I got it done at this business. If i could give them negative five stars I would. Gone are the days where I dropped $150+ on a 1 hour "spa massage." So happy I tried this place! Studying for the bar exam is CRAZY stressful and a massage is exactly what I needed the day after it was finally over (and hopefully never again). A friend recommended Diane's, but I was a bit hesitant. However, after doing my Yelp research, Diane's was hands down, the most affordable for a fresh-out-of-law-school, jobless little lady. I walked in without an appointment at around 11am on a Thursday and it was empty. Lucky for me, that meant no wait. The massage area was surprisingly clean--the exact opposite of the outside China Town environment. Brian did an amazing job. I didn't specify what type of massage I wanted, only that I preferred a lot of pressure. And that is exactly what I got. I'm assuming he did a thai-style massage, which basically means the therapist moves parts of your body such as arm, leg, into positions where they are access different positions of your muscles. No frills, just a damn good massage; just up my alley. Price was $40 even for the hour-long treatment--say WHAT. I immediately booked an appointment for the SO. The only reason for 4 stars was parking, which isn't really the fault of Diane's. I parked at a 1-hr limit meter and just prayed for no ticket upon my return. read more

This is a great place! I have been coming here for over 5 years! I like that the people are friendly, although some can hardly speak English, that doesn't bother me! I love going to Rose for my nails and waxing, I love Mai for eyelash extensions and just tried out Lisa for eyelash extensions, she did an amazing job! I'm glad I tried different people that way it lets me know what strong skills they have in each treatment! My family and I frequent China Town as it is always a fun adventure of discovering hidden gems of restaurants and various cafe places. Today I didn't expect to find a day spa in the heart of China town in Maunakea market place and actually loved it enough to to write about it. My son has been needing a haircut BAD but I was a bit hesitant and skeptical... when I found out that it was only $10 I decided to give it a try. My son of course being the guinea pig, haha. I gave this place 5 stars even though walking into the spa was more like a pedi sweat shop than a day spa. The nice lady that cut my sons hair took such care and excellence, meticulously taking her time even when someone came in for service requesting her services. She made us feel as if my sons hair was all that mattered. We showed her (wish we got her name!) a brief picture of what he wanted and she started working her magic. I have to say that this is the best haircut he has ever received and the quality of her service was worth 5x the price I paid for. We all walked out happy customers(yep coming back again) and I can finally see my sons handsome face. read more

Price are really low compared to other salons especially for eyelash extensions. I did my nails here which is ok also did lash extensions which is ok for the price you pay but I would rather go to a professional to get it done. And I also got my eyebrows done which I am very disappointed with. First I did the microblading which faded less than 6months and was really uneven. One side is thicker and higher than the other though Lisa tried to fix it but still terrible. And after 6months past I went there letting her know about how fast it faded which she agreed and told me to come back next week and she will do it again but will only charge me $60. So I went back and I wanted to confirm the price and was told no she cant offer $60 anymore being it's been a while so she said $100 so I agreed because I really needed it done being that's how bad it faded so after numbing cream she started doing it and it didn't feel like microblading so I said you're doing the microblading like last time I got it done right? She said no I'm doing the powdered so it last longer cause of your skin type but since she already started I had no choice but let her finish and only to realize its freaking uneven but worse than last time and if I draw it to make it even it's too thick and wide it looks so ridiculous and again she tells me to come back for the touch up part which I dont think I will. WARNING dont get your brows done here and her way of checking if its even is by taking a picture of it from her phone and continues to fix where it looks uneven by looking at her phone at the same time. And once it uneven there's nothing you can do especially if the mistake is the width of the brow. Never again coming here for permanent makeup. Dont let the poster of eyebrows and lips fool you thinking you can pick the style you want from it and it will turn out that way. I'm not sure if it's because I went to the downstairs part of Diane's, but I had the worst time here. My grandma usually comes here to get her nails and hair done so of course I trust her, however, the upstairs shop is so much nicer looking in terms of interior. The chairs downstairs are not very clean looking and there's flies everywhere. The lighting is dim so it looks so sketchy inside and it's in a tiny ally-way around the corner from the elevator. The interior design is very drab and needs an update. I desperately needed a pedicure and I needed to just re-shape my nails. I sat in the chair for at least 20-30 minutes before one of the ladies came and started working on me. Her cleaning job was good and thorough, which is fine, but not when it makes your cuticle bleed. My toe is still pretty sore and it's already been a couple days since I went. She also did the same thing underneath my middle-finger nail and made me bleed next to the cuticle. My finger is sore just typing this! Although they didn't do such a hot job, they were very nice to us so I have to give them some credit for customer service.. I love my grandma and I trust her, but I will not be going with her to this place anytime soon, sorry! read more

I was just there at 1 and they made me come back at 2 and when I came back with my friend who I made a app with they only took her and left me there for a hour when I asked when I would be seen they said I never made a app and come back in another hour! I could've sworn I left a review on here before, but I've been here on two occasions. Came in nearly a year ago for a massage. First massage I've ever gotten in my life, and it was worth it. My fiancé and I went in and were treated right away. I believe we paid $60 each for an hour and a half long massage. The masseuse got all the kinks out! Of course this wasn't the most ambient spa around, but for the price and the fact that the massage got the kinks out in all the right places was well worth the low price! It was a full body massage (arms, neck, back, legs and feet). So five stars on the massage! Also came here for my first pedicure because I didn't want to pay another salon double the price... It was only $20 here. I walked in and they immediately took care of me. Im glad the lady doing my pedicure wasn't talking in front of me (I've always been self conscious about the workers talking about how gross a client's feet are in front of them...) lol. Ended the pedicure with a quick calf and foot massage. For my first pedicure ever, I'm satisfied. Can't wait to see what other salons offer as well. But again, for the price, you can't go wrong. As a professional lash artist please NEVER go here for eyelash extensions! Their practice for sanitation is very disturbing. I live out of state so I only wish i could do my moms' lashes. But my mom says she goes to Diane's spa/Mauna Kea Day spa for lash extensions religiously and swears her lashes lasts for months, which is very questionable with natural lash shed cycles. So when i came to visit my mom who highly recommended this place, I thought we'd go check it out to see what the magic was for longest lash extension retention ever!! Upon arrival, we had a cold welcome. I'm assuming the older woman is the owner, she just gives us a look and calls the lash tech. So i go in with my mom who requests a fill. From my observations you remove your footwear before entering the lash room, then you lay flat on an unstable massage bed. I don't see use of hand sanitizer nor hand washing after the lash tech was constantly on her cell and picking up the business line scheduling appointments while setting up and lashing. But if lack of hand sanitizing wasnt bad not enough, the lash tech places loose lashes AND a piece of tape with adhesive right on her forehead! It is a very unsafe practice due to health and safety concerns, but I just thought maybe it works for her as far as timing. However, on top of that!!! (I'm not done) What really bothered me the most was when she was done and there were leftover loose lashes still on her forehead, she did not properly dispose of them, she just graciously placed them back in the container to use for future clients! I was livid and looked at her with disgust, i did not want to cuss her out or make a scene but instead asked my mom to leave quietly and figured I would lay it here where it would matter, to inform prospective clients. So when we got home and after inspecting my moms extensions, they use hard plastic single lashes and clusters that are not even isolated properly and glued with mutiple natural lashes. Several were stuck on her skin and she said it hurts sometimes. I asked my mom to have them removed immediately but she just paid $40 for her fill and said she was fine, she did not care too much as long as they lasted. SMH. I educated her on health and safety of her natural lashes. Sure they "look" nice and last forever but in a long run with all the excessive damage and weight of clusters she could possibly lose her natural lashes forever. I never brought my supplies with me to re-do her lashes so next time I will have it readily available. But this is why people have mixed reviews on eyelash extensions, it can be a hit or miss by reading other reviews, I'm not sure if they've previously employed professionally trained lash techs with the good reviews or just have uneducated clients. But this is my valid opinion and I have been a lash artist long enough to know that places like these are what gives "Professionally trained" lash artists and the art of lash extensions a bad rap. You can ask ANY professional lash artist/technician about my points on health standards and use of cluster lashes and see if they don't tell you the same. read more

Wow, read the reviews and just can't believe this is the same place. For one if any of the complaints had gone directly to Diane, I am very sure she would of resolved the problem. My wife and I have come here for a while for haircuts and coloring and Diane by far is one of the best in Honolulu. In fact I would go as far to say as good as any hairstylist we have been to on the mainland, SF & NY, where you pay a pretty penny more: $35-55 just for the haircut and forget about coloring add additional $125.00. Now I am talking about great well established stylist. So her prices are more than fair especially with the expertise she offers. So we are lucky to have Diane, great lady and very caring about her customers. The language barrier with the rest of the beauticians may be difficult but any questions or concerns go to Diane. She will remedy it. Not very Aloha for the one girl to leave an obnoxious photo. Maybe bad day, ya lady. Also when we call for massages we ask for Diane, she sets the schedule best, knows the best masseuse for your needs. i know Diane will clarify and make sure you get the right massage. I was amazed how professional they were for the price. I was expecting someone who just graduated from massage school but it was perfect. My mother and I always come here for nails and eyebrows and it's been great! Our experiences have been outstanding, the ladies always do our nails the way we want. Maybe once, one of the ladies cleaned my moms finger a little too much to where it bled on the side of one nail and caused it pain for a couple of days but ever since, she only chose one lady and it's been Rose. Rose does her good, she will refuse to go anywhere else. Always get Gel if you're complaining about your polish breaking. We always do and our nails last months. I havent done anything else besides a facial and it came with a massage and it was great. My face was clear and blackheads were gone. Thank god! I have yet to come do it again. I called two days ahead to make an appointment to do my nails and when i went they had to call someone to do my nails so i had to wait almost 1 hour for someone to come. When the girl finally came i couldnt understand her and she didnt understand what i wanted . It is also a very loud environment if your looking for a relaxing setting this is not the place. So I've been here three times to get my lashes done. The first time was my first time ever, it wasn't what I expected but it came out really thick, long, and curly and actually very nice. Only $35 plus I tipped the lady $10. I wish I knew her name because that was the best one. She's shorter, medium/heavier build (compared to the other ladies that work there) and maybe middle aged. Doesn't talk at all and when she tapes you, it really hurts because she doesnt peel and re-stick the tape, just puts it directly on your face. It's also like a clear strong tape, not really the kind you use for this kind of procedure, it's more like the kind you would use for an eyebrow cut. Anyway, the eyelashes on the right side of my eye stayed on and by day 10 the left side mostly came off. 1) I didn't take care of them and slept anykind of way because I wasn't used to it and 2) the eyelashes on the left side came off easily anyway, all I had to do was pull them off slightly and they fell off like nothing. I sleep on my right side so that didn't make sense BUT I noticed that the lady spent a lot less time on the left side than she did on the right, so I think she got tired and went through the left side super quickly. So I went back and got Lily who is very nice and professional and the tape doesn't hurt as much when she puts it on. The problem with Lily is that she doesn't like to put on too many lashes so it comes out looking too natural. Like to the point where you almost look as if you're not even wearing mascara...like this is your natural eyelashes, but not in a good way...like in a I just wasted money and time for nothing way. So the first time I went to Lily, she refilled my lashes and I noticed a difference between the lengths of the old lashes and the new ones, where the old ones were much curlier and longer than the new one she chose. I remember the previous lady told me she used lash #9 so when I went back a third time to the same place I asked Lily for #9 this time and to start fresh. At least before, you could tell I had lashes, now, it just looks like nothing. I'm extremely disappointed and I've decided it's just Lily maybe that's not that good at lashes. I started going there on 09/02 and today, 09/27 is the third time I've been there. So I spent $35+10 (tip) + $25(re-fill)+10 + 35+10 =$115 plus about $5/$6 for parking in less than a month. The cost is really reasonable but the time I spent going there and the uncertainty of what kind of eyelashes I was gonna get + being forced to stick with those lashes until they fall off or until I pull them off is not worth it in the end. I'm really disappointed because the first time it came out so well but I just don't wanna chance it anymore. I'm gonna have to find a new place and I don't recommend you chance it here. The reason I'm giving one star is because there's no zero. First timer and the experience is so disappointing. I'm in a rush to meet my friends within an hour but really need to get my nails done before that, so I get on yelp and found this place to be the nearest one from my house. I walked in and asked how much for a gel full set. The lady said 30. That's super low price! So I said let's do it and she started to remove my old gel manicures. When she's half way done removing them she told me I need to pay another $18 if I want to use gel color for my " gel full set manicure". I'm so confused but her coworker explained that they use regular gel polish for the $30 " gel full set(that's wired!) I'm fine to pay more for a better quality. But then they told me I need to pay another $12 if I want them to remove my dead skin before they do the manicure! I'm totally pissed and I just let her finish removing my old gel manicure,paid five dollar for it and left . And I'll never go back. read more

We had an appointment for noon, but apparently the couple scheduled before us was 45 min late and they took them anyways. They took me back 30 min after our scheduled time and never went back for my husband. The massage was TERRIBLE! I ended up with a crick in my neck. Other staff members kept walking in and talking with the therapist during the massage. Also, the therapist kept texting, and at one point answered her phone and had a conversation DURING MY MASSAGE! We came by for a couples massage. For me the massage was very, very strong. Even though i told her 3 times to go softer, it was still strong. At the end my husband's shoes were missing. They wanted us to remove our shoes before our massage. Apparently, another customer wore my husband's shoes in run into the restroom. After 10 minutes they found his shoes. LIE!!! someone told me that they heard from someone that use to work there that they had install cameras 1 or 2 years ago. So they lied to the detective so they probably stole my fucking slipper. My husband and I were looking for inexpensive massages. After calling multiple places I found online no one could fit us in right away. We decided to walk around China Town and came across Dian's Day Spa. They fit us in right away. It turn out that they stayed late for us, something we were not aware off until we left - very nice of them. My husband had a regular massage and I wanted a reflexology massage before my regular massage. What can I say, I love my feet massaged. The gal massaging my feet was amazing, then the owner asked if a male was ok for my husbands massage. I advised her we both wanted women. Alas, there was only one woman so my husband got her. Unfortunately, it was the same fabulous woman who was massaging my feet. She left, about five minutes into my reflexology massage and the man came to finish. He did not do a very good reflexology massage and I was sad I had given her up. Figured he would be lame in the massage as well. It turned out that he gave a very good massage. Got acrylic nails here and I would never go here again. Although I had made a reservation, and even gotten a phone call to confirm, I was still treated like a walk in when I arrived. I felt as though I was just walking in and greatly inconveniencing them. I was taken to the downstairs salon and told to sit and wait. I had an appointment and there was only one other person in the salon so I was pretty confused as to why they were acting like they had no space for me. When they were finally ready, a lady came over and started filing my nails away with a nail drill. I was just sitting in one of those swivel chairs while she sat on a stool. There was only one manicure table, and it was being used so I had to hold my arms up while the lady applied the tips. The tips were glued on very crooked and and way too close to the edge of my fingernail. When I tried to ask her to place the nails further back on my nails, she just said "don't worry don't worry" and ignored me. The acrylic was sloppily applied and there were tons of lumps. Because of this, she spent half an hour using the drill to poorly attempt to even out my nails. My nails look super weird and I am very upset that I wasted $30. read more
