Wow!!!! Completely blown away by this restaurant and already counting down the days until I'm back. We ordered several items to share and everything was generous in portion, even the side salads that came with pasta dishes. The clams and linguine had incredible flavor with a great amount of clams in each bite. Very satisfying. The eggplant pasta was also a standout: filling, well-balanced, and packed with flavor. The chicken pesto sandwich was good as well and came with fries on the side. However, the sesame seed pizza! WOW WOW WOW. Absolutely amazing and easily the most memorable item of the meal. This is going to be a full and complete review. I heard so much about how good Denino's Pizza is down the road on Rt 34 and that was the intended place to try. It was packed on a Friday night and we couldn't get in. At least not for 40 minutes or more. Another couple got tired of waiting and left for Esposito's and told us about it so we headed over. It was busy too but a 20 minute wait so we stayed. Our waitress was great. We were a party of four and we all just luv'd her. Being it wasn't Denino's which was the pizzeria we were hoping to go to our expectations dropped. However when our pizza arrived we all enjoyed it. Maybe a pinch small for a large pie but it was good. I would definitely go back if in the area again. Do note though if busy, their parking lot is small and very tight. My Brooklyn Square pizza was fresh, the Buffalo and the barbecue wings were made to order, with sauces on the side and the pepperoni pizza was crispy and thin. On a cold winter night in Jersy, we decided to order a few pizza pies from a family members recommendation. Our food: We ordered 2 cheese with 1 with regular crust and the other with their signature sesame crust and a line of pesto on the top . Service was quick and easy as the order was called in and ready as promised. We also ordered an antipasto salad and, for me, a delicious hot chicken soup. A Philly cheesesteak sandwich loaded with beef and provolone was split among our carnivores. Not 1 bite was left over, so I believe it was good. Yall! The food here for the price is soooo good!! We have had some pretty good food here. The lunch portions are so generous. We ordered the soup and sandwich and also a salad portion. We could not have eaten all of it bc there was so much. Staff was wonderful and the restaurant was very clean. Love it here and would be coming back here again. Esposito's is a very nice pizzeria both inside and out. The building is very nice looking and the inside is comfortable and spacious. The workers are very nice and always make sure to check in to see if they can get you anything else and to see how you are enjoying the food, which you will. The sesame crust pizzas are amazing and definitely different. They almost taste like you are eating a pizza hero. The regular pizza is also fantastic. Ordered in a couple of sandwiches for the first time. We like trying all the local places to keep business local. Orders through DoorDash and food came in a timely fashion. We ordered a mushroom cheese steak and a meatball parm. The cheese steak was on the cold side, but the meatball was warm. This was a late day, around 7:45 PM order and delivery. The bread was below average based on similar places we have ordered the same type of sandwich's from all locally. The meatballs were tasty but lacked sauce and the cheese was stuck to the tin foil it was wrapped in. I wish more place used containers for these sandwiches which prevents this cheese from sticking to the foil. The cheese steak was a zero in all aspects. It was lacking cheese, hardly any steak, zero taste and as mentioned, not warm at all. The bread was so dry I tried just eating the food without the bread and gave up due to the lack of taste. Off night? Maybe, but I doubt we will be trying this place again any time soon. read more

They have two locations: one in Matawan and the other is in Manasquan. While I have visited both, the one I'll be writing a review on is the one in Matawan. Fun fact about me, I absolutely adore pizza. In fact, when I was pregnant, pizza was one of my top cravings. I love going to different pizzerias and trying their pies. I've learned from one of my fellow Yelpers to always order a margarita slice before ordering any other specialty pie to truly be able to taste the sauce first. Esposito's offer special menu items at all different price points for each day of the week. This casual eatery is more than just a pizzeria but their claim to fame is their sesame seed crust pizza. I've tried their sesame seed margarita slices, eggplant parmesan sandwich, various salads, calamari and most recently, vegetable combo. All are very good but not excellent. I love the crust but it's the sauce that prevents me from giving it the 5 stars. I want to taste a burst of acidic tomato flavor from the sauce but instead, I find the sauce a tad bland. I am disappointed but the crust more than makes up for it. Their crust is slightly crispy on the outside and yet is soft and pliable as you handle it. It's on the drier side and not overly chewy. Whenever I frequent the establishment, I always see them making the pies from scratch. This place is a neighborhood pizzeria where they always offer a friendly smile and good service to everyone that stops in. Dropped in here the other day and ordered a pepperoni stromboli. Sadly, the plastic casing was still in the pepperoni. I mentioned it to the server, and she told me it was "just the casing". We got the mussels marinara, fried calamari, sesame seed pizza special #1 and chicken Marsala dinner entree. - mussels marinara: delicious! Marinara sauce had good flavor - fried calamari: very lightly breaded and tasted fresh - pizza: we loved that the sesame seeds not only coated the crust, but also the underside of the pizza. Definitely a generous portion of sesame seeds for a good price. We ordered takeout for our mom's birthday and decided to try a variety of their dishes: chicken, veal, seafood, eggplant, etc. Overall, the entrees were good and generously portioned. We had enough leftovers for another meal or two afterwards. The eggplant parm was a bit dry and not as good as other places I've been to. I would be giving this place 3 stars for the option of a having a gluten free menu but in all other aspects from quality of the food to service this place is at best a 2. We ate last night at 730 pm and our service was horrible. Our waitress sat in the corner of the restaurant with her other coworkers. It seemed like you needed an act of God or a environmental disaster to get her to move off her Butt and service us. Once she did we asked questions like what the soup of the day was. She said she'll get back to us. One hour later she returned saying she forgot to ask. The food we did order came an hour later but it was far from fresh. While we had fresh melted cheese, our chicken parm was old and leathery. It was salty too. I cannot stress how stale it was. Our sauce and pasta was okay too but for a $18 dish I expected fresh cooked chicken. I likely won't be returning to Esposito's. I'm sorry. It may have served you well but having a bunch of bratty young adults who are unenthused to take care of their patrons service old expensive stale chicken is not my idea of a night out of eating. read more

OK, I should review my Espositio's experience since this is the second pie during Covid-19. A review of pizza is subjective due to ones initial introduction of this savory carb and fatty food adored by all. My first pizza slice was a NY pizza from a pizza joint located near the corner of Bayard and Mulberry Street in N when I was 8 . It was a thin crust, kinda soggy, and loaded with cheese... a classic NY slice dripping with grease and piping hot from the re-heat in the oven. When folded to create that ridge to give the slice some stability, grease would drip out the back of the crust. Anyone who's had a true NY pizza would identify with would know what I'm talking about. Esposito's is not this. It is a artisan pizza... a dryer crisp crust with basil tomato sauce and topped with an abundance of lower fat cheese. Is it a thin crust... no .... but the edges are thick, crisp and not chewy. The tomato sauce is light .. a bit tart... a bit sweet ...infused with a bit of basil and a bit of olive oil...it's flavorful but doesn't overpower the pie. The cheese is abundant but not greasy/oily. I've gotten 2 pies, separate occasions, from Esposito's. One was a veggie speciality and the other was topped with sausage. Both were good. The crust, sauce, cheese and topping ratio was balanced to the point that nothing overpowered or outshone the basic key ingredients. Takeout was a breeze....call, place your order, pay via CC, go and pick-up. I trust Espositio's during CV-19. The eatery is clean, employees are courteous and they adhere to the necessary CV-19 requirements. Bottom line....Espositio's makes a good artisan pie!! Their specialty pies are BOMB and would recommend them over the plain cheese or "add topping pies". Stay safe everyone, keep eating and enjoy life!! read more

Had this place on my radar for quite a while and finally had the chance to place a pickup order. The location and staff were polite and friendly. While everything was very good quality, I just wasn't blown away by anything. Ordered a Nonna Ubriaca vodka grandma pie, a buffalo chicken pie, and a signature sesame seed crust #9 grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella and bruschetta pie. The Nonna was by far the best of the 3 pies. The buffalo chicken seemed just about average, and I forgot to ask for blue cheese... my mistake. It came without ranch or blue cheese. The chicken bruschetta pie was not doing it for any of us - very dry and the amount of garlic was over the top - and we love garlic. Nonetheless, I am glad I gave it a try. I gave them 4 stars for the overall quality, but I would likely have to try some of their other interesting pies on the menu.
