We went here to celebrate my nephews birthday on a Sunday. We ordered shrimp and grits, hamburgers and seafood platter. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, not one person out of 12 people had anything good to say about their food. The shrimp and grits were greasy and bland, the hamburger bun was stale and hard. The seafood platter tasted like old grease. I was hoping for the price we paid, at least one person would have liked something, unfortunately this was not the case and I really hate making bad reviews on businesses but 12/12 people was not happy and we are not picky. June 14, 2025 @7:40pm very disappointed with the food, service, and atmosphere. We walked into the restaurant and it was completely empty. No one greeted us. Place seemed closed. As the hosted emerged and said the band just stop playing. It's was 7:10pm. You mean to tell me everyone left the restaurant in 10min? I highly doubt anyone was there. Not sure where is the entrance. Took 20 minutes to get what was called Asian shrimp appetizer. We over heard one server say "we had to water down the drinks so we can make them last the night" and she said I was able to find some bread to make type of garlic bread. The appetizer was just fried shrimp with some Asian pepper jelly sauce you can buy at the grocery store. Server did not check on us, offered no recommendations. All the staff was gathered by a table chitchatting and not attentive to customers. Owner seemed like he was more attentive to friends or acquaintances, and not paying attention to what's going on in the restaurant. I have worked in the service industry and even with bad service we would at least leave a 10% tip. Instead we walked out found our server fraternizing with other servers and just paid for our water down tea, coke, and fry shrimp thing . We are definitely not returning to this restaurant. I wish I remembered photos could be added. This is the second time though I've picked up Poboys from here. Sucks to I live down the street. Would be nice to be able to pick up some decent food from so close. An I ordered again. Thinking the last time may of been a fluke. Nope that's just that place. I could understand maybe if it was in the middle of a rush of people or something. But, Nope. I made my order both times about 2pm on a Saturday. Before any kind of music is going on etc. a when I get there to pick it up. Theirs not a soul at the place but workers. Quite frankly not sure why they even open so early. But both times. Just very little care goes into making the food. I could imagine the young, compared to me. Workers all bored hanging around talking. An an order comes in. An it messes up their hang out session. So the food is slapped together in the middle of joking around. An it's made just because they had to. Very little barely any mayonnaise. An extremely barely anything of lettuce on it. Than the lettuce. It's like they have the lettuce sitting in a warm container. The lettuce looks old. It's not like it's come out of a cooler type of thing how subway sandwich shop has all their cold ingredients in a refrigerated station it's taken from. So it seems like it's just in bags and or containers that's warm. A should have been thrown out. Or maybe it's due to they open a lot earlier than actual customers come to eat. So when I get my order in. The lettuce has just been sitting around not refrigerated. A since nobody is there that early. It's not used fast enough for it to be fresher. Also. The dressing for the salad was wrong. Their wasn't a sole their. A they got the dressing to that easy order wrong. There was no background pose or anything going on. To have had any mess ups. Aside from that. When I get in there. I'm always standing in the little hallway. Waiting to be able to pay an pick up. Theirs no bell or anything to let anyone know your their. Both times I had to call the places phone. Like I was making an order for the phone to ring. For someone to walk into the back by the register to even know if there. Just all around pathetic. I won't be back again. Theirs a poboy place in Gonzales that is run by Chinese people that made killer shrimp poboys in comparison. Playboys isn't really a Chinese type of a dish. Vs this place that's on a Louisiana waterway. Making a bunch of Louisiana dishes. Hate to even see what the other dishes look like. I did just see the disgusting looking crab cake in the reviews here though. For $41.08 or something about that for a shrimp and oyster poboy an a side salad. 3/4 of the meal was thrown in the trash. read more

Nice place on the Diversion, clean and very friendly staff. I was visiting from out of state with my friends and looking forward to some really good seafood. My party of 5, who all from the area except me decided to try this place. We were seated on the "outdoors" area. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. My soft shell crab were flat and not very tasty(flat) and my friend that had ordered the same, voiced the same opinion. My sweet potato French fries were perfect though. One friend was very pleased with her fried shrimp but said her martini was not good. Another loved her sloppy roast beef poboy and it was huge! Loaded with roast and big enough for at least two people! My other friend was not impressed with her hamburger. It looked pretty good to me! Hate to say but we probably won't be back. read more

Never dined in, only ordered to-go a few times. The food was not good, service was nothing special, yet they expect a tip for handing you a bag. When they didn't give us our order correctly, they had us call the next day and they replaced just that item, but it still was nothing special. Bland fried seafood and nasty bland fries, there was nothing special about this seafood platter. Pasta I got was bland, dry and tasteless. It seems like a good spot in a nice location, the place seems clean and looks nice inside from the doorway, but the food is boring special. read more

The staff is friendly and the brunch is amazing. Had an amazing club sandwich yesterday in their new portion of the restaurant that's by the water -"the back porch" which is absolutely beautiful. Five minutes later the same young lady that approach us the second time tells us sorry we don't have space for 11 people. I respond. I'm sorry I see a lot of empty tables.. she responded well I'm sorry there's no tables that we can connect or room. She didn't even offer a waiting time for us. I asked her what are you saying ? you're not going to serve us? She had a completely confused face and said I'm sorry there's no room or space. This is unacceptable. Nobody should feel this way! Shame on the staff they should never make anybody feel this way! You guys treated us as if you were giving us the food or something! We went in for Mother's Day so in addition to being new it was also a holiday. We walked in and got a great table right by the window overlooking the river. The service was a little slow, we lost our waiter a few times but the food did come out hot by the chef. The chicken and waffles were nicely spiced and fried, the waffle almost tasted like buttermilk waffle. The hamburger steak was slightly disappointing because the brown gravy needed some spice. Sweet potato fries were on point though. The table favorite was the shrimp and grits! They definitely have the potential to be 5 stars once they get the kinks worked out. Tuesday eve bdy Party of (8) the service was just perfect. The little blonde did not mess up one order very attentive. The meatballs, shrimp parmigiana, fried shrimp and grilled chicken/baked potato were great. However, this is the second time we've tried the fried fish, fried mushrooms(hard to mess up), and crab cakes where just so soggy either over fried or under cooked heavy and so greasy. I have read reviews on this, I wish DiCarlo would read because the atmosphere is great! it's too easy to fix/adjust, get a chef when you have competition in the area. 500.00 dollars later the 3 fam including the bdy boy couldn't eat the crab cakes/fish or grilled veggies(too easy). The outside addition I ate at prior to last night was amazing but the floors were disgusting(just sweep up a little between customers) WE WANT DICARLO'S TO THRIVE. read more

We placed a togo order yesterday and was on our way to go get our food when our boat started smoking and leaking oil everywhere. We have 2 children so we were stuck in the middle of Lake Maurepas, and was waiting on family to come help us tow boat back to Canal Bank. We have never been in this situation before so we were kind of panicking a little. I called as a curtsey in a high stress situation to inform them we wouldn't be making it since we were stranded and would 2+ hours before we would be make it back at the earliest. I received a phone call a couple minutes later from a male employee who was so rude, unprofessional and pretty much accused me of making them make food and waste it. Accidents happen, and I told the girl on the phone multiple times I was so sorry about this and we were stuck in the lake with no running boat. I did pay for the food after he repeated, we will take your card information now, over and over as our engine is smoking. In a high stress situation, I was on the verge of tears at how this person was talking down to me was so unnecessary. We obviously never got the food since it took 3 hours to get back to the landing. Went Sunday 1/8/23 for noon with another couple. My wife & I split the large seafood platter for 2. The chicken & sausage gumbo was very good. The platter was good and plenty of food.
