I got the 2 meat plate, the brisket was dry and fatty at the same time, the jalapeño sausage was my second meat and the cheese was too thick, and sausage was warm, the fries were labeled "hand cut" fries but they served McDonald's style fries and they still messed it up because half of it was undercooked, Mac and cheese were pretty much KFC Mac and cheese, over cooked noodles with crappy thick cheese , the spicy barbecue was okay but the original was slightly sour...., service was okay and the ambiance was nice to say the least, only redeeming quality was the ice... oh and the bread was probably the worst! Haven't been to a Dickey's in a long time; came in for the Friday special - pulled pork plate with baked potato casserole and fried okra, a biscuit and a drink for $14.49. The normal price is $20 for a 1 meat plate and that doesn't come with a drink. Food is good and definitely better with the bbq sauce. Free ice cream machine broke down and they never replaced it. Lived in the city almost 12 years. As many times as Ive been in this shopping center I never see anybody coming in or out of this location. We were in the mood yesterday for ribs so we decided to roll the dice and give them a try. Again been here 12 years and never eaten there before. $80 later we had dry ribs with not an ounce of sauce on them. The ribs were maybe old or reheated? The tops were tough and dried out like beef jerky. The bottoms straight fat. No eatable meat on the ribs. We were charged for additional BBQ sauce. However, when we got the barbecue sauce, nothing was labeled sweet, spicy, etc. Had no idea what was what. And to be honest, they all tasted the exact same so I think I got charged for just regular barbecue sauce. The potato salad and coleslaw were fine. The beans tasted like straight pepper. Not much seasoning on the bland toast. I don't know.... I personally won't be back. I don't even know how this place is staying in business as I said I've never seen anybody go in or out of the store in my 12 years living in the city. I didn't get a chance to interact with staff or see the inside, but my DoorDash order was not a very good experience. If you're in the mood for BBQ, I'd pass on this place and make the drive to somewhere reputable selling actual fresh BBQ. Seriously a Bummer. I wish I would have checked Yelp before ordering as it seems everyone else is reporting dried out meat and tasteless bland food. This is traditionally, my favorite barbecue in the area. Probably because I consider Texas home and this barbecue comes out of Texas. However, the last time I was here the ice cream machine was on the fritz and they said they were fixing it and it would be back. Today I was told that the ice cream machine would no longer be there which is really sad because that's part of the experience of coming to eat barbecue at Dickeys. Not only was there nobody there at 6:15 PM and only two delivery people picking up orders in the hour that we were there, the two people holding down the store were in the back for most of the time. This would not have been such an issue, except Tables had barbecue sauce and food particles on them, and this could've been taken care of while they were no customers. The vending machine was out of ice which is not uncommon and one gentleman before me was going crazy on the ice with several large cups. But to have to strike the machine to get the soda to come out of it each time I left it to go eat and would return was extreme. They need to fix this. I hate to say it, but I'm worried that this place is going to go out of business if they don't take care of these things. The barbecue was just as it always is and the sauce was good. Everything was good about the food and drink. We actually had. I really hope that they fix the ice cream machine and the soda machine and keep things stocked. read more
