Dickey's is okay. It's definitely not the best or the worst. It's alright. The ribs are tasty and they're worth getting if you plan on stopping here. Not so much on the spicy cheddar sausage or the pulled pork, they were served really lukewarm and I got an upset stomach after eating them. It's a shame because I never had that problem last time I had them. Ribs were the only ones I've had that I never got an upset stomach from. Let the food poisoning begin! Roses are red, violets are blue, what am I doing at Dickey's, Phils BBQ we miss you!!! My first time going to Dickeys today. I ordered two plates. One for me and one for my wife. Then 30 minutes of eating my wife had to run to the bathroom because her stomach was upset. It was kind of weird in the restaurant when I watch the gentleman take this old meat out of a warming oven type of container and unwrap the meat from cellophane and cut it up and then re-wrapped the meat and put it back in this warming contraption. I think that's where the problem exists. No wonder the place was completely empty on a Sunday afternoon being next-door to a movie theater. Also reading the other reviews I can totally see why. There was at least five reviews of talked about poisoning. It's all about cleanliness and how everything is packaged. I'm sure that beef sits in that warming container for at least a couple days. So gross to me and dangerous to us all. I seen a Kobe burger on special at Jordans next door and that is where I'm going to be my next time I stop in this shopping center. read more

Hey I went there as my first time to order some wings that cashier was very rude I believe her name was Maryam or Mina , she had bad attitude , after waiting about 15 min I see her going back to the kitchen and she put her hands in her pants , she had long hair I believe workers should wear hats while they workings she wasn't after I was waiting for my wings she got an order to do I believe it was the small cup of Mac & cheese so she did it without gloves . Good food. But more than that the customer care. I witnessed something I haven't seen in quite a while. An older lady came in before me and for whatever reason couldn't pay. I watched to see what happened and was pleased to see them let her have her sandwich on the house with a promise from her to pay the next day. People, this happens way less these days than it should. Let's show this new Dickies location that we appreciate a business that takes care of less fortunate. Great location, clean place. Good food. My only complaint, larger portions. I have been to Dickey's BBQ Pit twice, thus...my 2 star review. It is no Phils, or any of the BBQ places I have had in the past. 2 stars goes only to the service and cleanliness of this restaurant but the food doesn't sit well with me. Last time I came here I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich combo which came with a soda and a side. I ordered the side of fried okra. Nothing tasted fresh! Made the mistake of going on opening day. My whole family, including a 15 month old came down with a touch of food poisoning. I understand they are new and have kinks to work out but there is no excuse for that. I don't like the sauce situation. I do like having the option to add your own but having it off to the side in open containers with dirty ladles gives me the OCD willies. They had one high chair which was being used. We only had the opening day special which was a pulled pork sandwich for $2. I wasn't impressed the meat was dry and unless drenched with sauce wasn't even edible. I would hope that after they settle in things might be better and I would love to try something else off the menu but after getting sick I don't think we will be going back. read more

Been coming here for a few years. New staff doesn't slice the brisket across the grain. On my last visit I specifically asked for it and got a blank stare in response... I had a pulled pork slider, waffle fries and a drink and the bill was $9. That's too high for the size of the fries and sandwich. The flavor was good but not great....nothing special. And the ice cream is icey, not creamy...not good at all. I won't return....there are better bbq spots. read more

Heard about this place from a friend and was excited to go. Took the family there for dinner and was severely disappointed. Should have walked out when the server delivered our food before we even finished filling up our drinks. "FAST FOOD" BBQ IS NOT OKAY. The meat had very little flavor and was dry. The baked beans tasted like they were out of a can. The cheesy creamed spinach had the consistency of baby food. But hey at least they didn't mess up my kids chicken nuggets. Pros -Nicely remodeled space with rustic decor, nostalgia prints from their past and seating area away from line. -Seemed clean and well stocked. -Free soft serve vanilla available in the drink area. -My brisket was smokey and not dry,chopped finely, -The Onion Tanglers(fried onion rings) side dish was fresh and very tasty. -The Jalepeno Beans were very good. BBQ beans but with a kick. -BBQ sauce is with condiments and you can sample and choose how much/flavors you want(three flavors) Cons -Busy menu and not well lighted. Difficult to read. -Sides(other than tanglers) served in very small containers. A bit over priced for quantity. -Mac&Cheese was runny and tastless. -Baked Potato casserole was also tastless and dry -Help was devoid of personality, almost grumpy. When you see pictures of their family history, you somehow expect them to be friendly. Guess this is was the off-hour crew. -The BBQ sauce was unexceptional, like bottled or restaurant grade. The service was not fast, but this isn't fast food. Part of the problem might be the large number of menu choices. Many meats, styles of preparation and sides. Maybe too many. Overall unimpressed. Although the ambiance at the Wrangler BBQ Pit isn't great, and the menu is smaller, their meats and sauce is far better than Dickeys. Less is more in this case. read more

First and foremost, this establishment has amazing customer service. I have never been here and they were very helpful. I had asked to try their okra but was told it would need to be made, so I opted for more traditional sides. Their Mac and cheese was yum as was their coleslaw. I had the pulled pork and ham. My partner had the rib plate. It was all very good for the price. But the best part was the gentleman bringing us a full order of okra just to sample. I was absolutely pleased, as this is a childhood favorite if mine. Thank you! We will be back because after all, who can resist a free ice cream cone to follow your sweet tea?!? I really love bbq! Who doesn't right? Well this place is not one of the better places in the area. I do appreciate the placement, as its in a nice area with little competition. That said it's extremely small and unable to keep up with the heavy flow of customers. We went on a Friday night and it was packed. The way to order leaves a lot to be desired. It's the same style as subway and chipotle but the counter is high and I'm a shortie so I'm on my tiptoes trying to communicate with them. Then they ran out of chicken! How does a bbq place run out of chicken on a Friday night?! So I opted for the smoked turkey which was surprisingly tasty and moist. The sides I got were the green beans and fried okra. The okra was crunchy and hot but the green beans were seriously under seasoned. Other sides on our table were the Mac n cheese and beans which I didn't try but was told were good. I had their original bbq sauce and that was good. Their rolls and breads are also super yummy. Over all for the price I wasn't super impressed with this place at all. I had been to the Balboa location and was excited that Dickey's was coming closet to my area. I like that they offer daily specials to help make ordering easy. I have tried all of their meat options and like them all, they have a good smoked flavor. They offer 3 BBQ sauce options: sweet, original & spicy. I've tried them all but stay with the original. My favorite sides are the fried okra and the BBQ beans, I've been known to add some of my pulled pork to my beans and it's delicious. read more

I never leave reviews for restaurants but in this case I must. I came here with my 2 year old daughter and we got the rib plate. It was delicious and they have 3 types of sauces that you can choose from. The staff is extremely friendly. My daughter spilled ice water on her plate of Mac and cheese and the floor and the staff immediately came over to clean it up and instead of cleaning up the mess she asked if my daughter was ok first. I have never been asked that before so it took me by surprise. I said she was fine and then she brought my daughter a free side of mac and cheese ! Not even 10 seconds after that someone left their sweater and she ran to get the sweater and then tracked down the owner. I highly recommend you give this BBQ spot a try. Excellent food and service. Anybody can open a bag of pre processed food and heat it up. AVOID the Mac and cheese unless u want to have recurring nightmares of cafeteria style "food" with no authenticity no love no soul ... The potato salad tastes like Ree_er's potatoe salad u would find in the deli section of a grocery store. NASTY, in my personal opinion, too much vinegar, potatoes are wrong in texture and flavor, again something to AVOID I would say if this place is the only place to get any kind of so called BBQ then ok it won't kill you but there is quite a few other LOCAL spots to get some real BBQ from some real folk some real soul and some real flavor read more

We really like the BBQ at Dickeys. Our favorite is the ribs. I wish they would slice the brisket instead of chopping it up. The Mac n Cheese is very good and the kids love the soft service cream. The staff here at this location is very friendly. We tried the one in clairmont and we will never return there. That place is appalling. Today is my second visit to Dickeys and I am just as pleased if not more than the first time. They offer a different special everyday that includes two good sized portions, plus a drink. Even if you don't want a combo, they have a ton of great bbq options to choose from. I've had the pulled pork sandwich combo both times, and it's delicious. The meat is tender and is complimented well by their bbq sauce (which they keep in the condiments section so you can get as much as you like vs being charged for extra sauce). They also have a free soft serve ice cream station, which I do plan to partake in today after I finish my sandwich. Overall, I think this place is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone debating trying it! read more

Went here for my first time cause was craving BBQ and was close by... Thought it was pretty good. I got the pulled pork and husband got the brisket... The meat was a tad dry, but with the sauce it was perfect! Good food portions, actually couldn't even finish mine! The spicy BBQ sauce was my favorite... The sides were good, nothing too special.... But I definitely loved the free ice cream for dessert!
