Went last night. Long drive from imperial beach Worth the trip. The Turkey was fantastic. Had the brisket and ribs also. Brisket dryed out quickly but ribs were great. Very tender. The food was "right on", everyone enjoyed their food. The reason for three stars is this, the fried side orders never came. We were promised three times by the employees that they would bring them to our table. I had to go and ask again and stood there while they dropped one more item in the fryer. Granted we arrived just before a rush, but we feel that is not an excuse to drop everything/everyone and help these folks. I stood at the register at least five minutes while the crowd was worked before I was even acknowledged. Once acknowledged I waited there, not believing the words once again "we'll gladly bring the sides to your table." We will probably try this location once again...I'll update this review accordingly. I'm torn between a 3 or 4 stars but am giving them the benefit of the doubt. My wife and I love BBQ (especially me). So with a new BBQ place nearby we decided to check it out. My wife ordered the Smokehouse Salad. This is chopped beef brisket, romaine lettuce, shredded chedder, fried onion tanglers & she had the ranch on the side. She said the meat was moist and tender and she LOVED the onion tanglers. She really enjoyed her meal and thus my reason for maybe giving the 4 stars. I odered the one meat plate. This comes with two sides (I chose slaw & beans), small roll, two pickles and two raw rings of onion. The meat I chose was the beef brisket. Here's the rub....it was very little meat and mostly fat. They weigh all meat going into a plate but it includes whatever fat is attached. The portion was fair for the price had it actually been meat. Mind you I enjoy the fat but only as an add on to the meat portion. The meat that was served was almost too tender and watery. It had VERY little firmness and this is quite contrary to what brisket should be. It was more like a soggy pulled beef. The side dishes: Slaw was mayonaisse based and very crispy, flavorful. A highlight of the meal for both of us. We would have loved a much bigger portion. The beans were average at best. Slight smokey taste, somewhat tender but had no bacon/ham in the molasses based sauce. When eating at a BBQ restaurant, the entree typically is two fold. The meat and the sauce. Some restaurants can only get one of the two right, and very few get both. Here they are average in both categories. They offer three BBQ sauces on the side. They have cups where you pour the sauces into using a ladle provided. They were sticky and not especially clean from other customers use. The three flavors were sweet, smoke and spicy. The suaces were average and the flavors not really dicernable. The spicy was the same flavor but with just a slight bite at the end. So....the question is...would I come back here again? If we were going out for BBQ the answer is a quick NO. We'd drive the few extra miles to go to Coops. IF we were at the movies...the answer is POSSIBLY. The bottom line is I wouldn't go out of my way...except maybe for the Slaw!...Yeah the Slaw! My wife says the onion tanglers too! read more

Why bother going to a place with average lukewarm plastic looking food. We went last night "again" only because our 11 year old grandson wanted to go for his birthday. He was the only one that enjoyed his food. I had the ribs... I ask them to heat them up, but they came back at the same temperature, which leads me to believe they don't even have ovens or microwaves.(??) (I also saw them warm up buns under heat lights, REALLY) I am sure there are folks who like their fair, I will never go back. I didn't eat my sides either, in fact, I didn't eat any of it after the first bite. The servers were nice, the atmosphere was friendly, but the 30dollar bill spent on food was wasted. read more

Outstanding briquet and pulled pork plate. I had the spicy beans and Coleslaw which were perfect. Nice smokey flavor and the sauces were spot on Texas. Staff was very friendly and listened to what we wanted in terms of meat cuts. I will come back frequently to try other items! read more

Not sure why this place has such low ratings. This is by far one of my favorite places to eat! Sure, the food is a bit expensive and the people inside could be a little friendlier, but the food is down right amazing and the quality is consistent. I love getting a brisket and pulled pork sandwich with the spicy bbq sauce. SO GOOD! Their Mac and cheese and potato casserole are also amazing! It leaves me absolutely stuffed and happy. I love Dickey's BBQ! I first tried it in Vegas and I go every time I head over there. I am really happy they moved out to California! They have delicious meat and the sauces are amazing. I love their cole slaw and baked beans the best, but all their sides are good. This location is a little cramped, so I usually take it to go, but whether to stay or go make sure to grab a little come with vanilla ice cream on your way out! I got 1/4lb brisket and 1/4lb jalapeno cheddar kielbasa with a side of mac n cheese and bbq beans. Everything was sooo delicious!! Just a little pricey but totally worth it. Also, they gave the bbq sauce on the side when my husband ordered the ribs and pulled pork, which was nicer than having it already drowned in it. Have come here a couple times w my roommate and we have left full and happy each time. The food that I've had has always been delicious. Usually a sandwich with some combination of meats. Very good! The sides have always been solid too. Love the sauces that they have on hand as well. The daily deals seem to be the best bargain and is usually the first place I look on the menu. Impressed w the variety of meats offered though I usually go pork or beef brisket. Really tasty bbq! Service is good enough and doesn't diminish the experience. One thing that certainly boosts the experience is the FREE ICE CREAM. Love the touch, love the taste! One note is that the prices more resemble a restaurant in my opinion where it seems to be a fast casual type of chain. So they seem a little bit high, but the food more than makes up for it on my opinion and I've never left hungry. Definitely will return. read more

My husband and I visited tonight with our 3 furbabies (1 is our neighbors) for a late sunday dinner~ I got a brisket baked potato which was huge and he got a classic brisket sandwich w/ a brisket taco~and 4 cornbreads everything was flavorful~ they even shared some left overs with our furbabies~ one of the best things was their friendly customer service from the guy in the back...another guy in front making the food and the girl at check out. This was the most pleasant restaurant staff (and smoked chicken) I've ever experienced! I wish I lived closer, they gave us so many free samples of things and much of the food is made fresh to order which is something hard to find these days - especially for a fast casual restaurant. We had our Easter party catered by Dickie's BBQ. We paid about $13 a person. It included 2 types of meat, 3 sides, rolls, plates, and silverware. Ordering was easy and fast and they even delivered it for no extra fee! The food was delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. We even had enough left over that everyone got to bring a bit home with them! We have eaten at the restaurant twice now for Sunday lunch. On Sundays, kids eat free which is great with two toddlers! The food is always delicious and the staff is very friendly. My only suggestion is to hire one more person. There was a line the whole time we were there. Otherwise, we love it!!!! read more

I have to say everytime I eat here I am dissapointed by the portion sizes. The prices are way too high for what you get. The BBQ is good but not great and a little on the dry side, but it's still a little above average. The beans are pretty bland though and the potato salad is not great either. Phils BBQ offers larger portions at comparable prices and tastes much better. Until they start increasing their portions to something other than size laughable, I'll stick to Phil's BBQ. read more

I didn't do a thorough review of the menu, but I just ordered a pulled pork sandwich with beans and green beans and a small drink (12.96). They brought me the food on a tray that made it look like it wasn't much food, but it was more than enough. The Barbecue sauce was good (I mixed their sweet with the spicy). The food was great. The meat was moist but not dripping wet and the beans and green beans had good flavor. Fair priced on the high side or maybe I'm still used to Midwest prices. read more
