We ordered from Dickey's Barbecue Pit through DoorDash because our vehicle had issues and we weren't able to drive over (only 1.8 miles away). Delivery took about 30 minutes, which was fine. The food arrived with utensils, but it was room temperature--not hot. We reheated everything in the microwave, and it still turned out tasty. Wow, how is it I haven't been here yet?!? I noticed this spot one day while visiting a shop in the area and decided to try it. I ordered Pulled Pork, Potato Salad, and Jalapeño Beans. The food was served up quickly and it was delicious. I am always skeptical of BBQ places, but this one is just wonderful. The entire place was clean. I ordered then noticed the 85 health rating. I usually will leave when I see a rating this low but I let it slide this time. I shouldn't have. As I'm standing at the register I see the employee pick up a plastic bag filled with the mac and cheese. I was surprised, most BBQ restaurants pride themselves on their homemade sides. I should have just left but I stuck it out. Then she walked over to the hot water dispenser by the tea machine and filled up a cup with hot water. I asked if that's how she was going to warm the mac and she said no, they just stir in hot water. (Huh??) The words "just never mind" we're on my tongue but I felt kind of bad for bothering her and making her go through all the effort for me to quit now. I guess I get the rest of stars for perseverance. I was handed my lukewarm bowl of what turned out to be macaroni and cheese soup and left without a thanks, a smile nor any kind of acknowledgment. I opened the cup of watery mac, took a bite and immediately spit it out. I can't even describe the taste - metallic maybe, questionable, definitely. It was awful. My first time and my last time ordering food from this Dickey's BBQ on Governors West place in Huntsville. Ordered food via Uber eats (3 meat Items, Polish sausage, ribs and briskets) with potatoes salad and green beans. All meats taste bad with funny taste. Even potato salad has bad taste. It seems like the food was left outside or something. I tried the food even with hot sauce and it still taste bad. I will definitely not recommend this restaurant for anybody. I never been to this place and don't know who owns this place. I figured I better alerts other folks about it. WALK-OFF HOME RUN!! This place is easy and very good. Stopped by here while in Huntsville for training and you know I like to hit the bbq places when I travel. Dickey's is a special place with its roots in Texas. They always have great decor and Tamika and Chastity will make you feel right at home. I had the 2-meat plate with bbq brisket and chicken. The brisket was real good with killer smoke flavor and excellent bark. The tenderness had dropped a little, but it was still good. The chicken was tender and had a great smoke flavor. For sides I got the green beans and baked potato casserole. The beans had great seasoning and the potato casserole was smooth with good flavor as well. They served some onions and pickles with it as well (since we're in the South). Y'all need to give this place a try. When you're here, you're family. read more

Cold cold cold, all the meat was so cold, they didn't even pretend to warm up any of the meat. Slaw wasn't to bad but the potatoes salad just didn't taste good. Fries were great so was the okra, I've had Texas bbq and this wasn't close. The brisket was petrified and super dry. Don't think I'll be eating there again. read more

Yummmmmmm! Easily the best brisket I've had in a while. I ordered the Smokehouse Salad with chopped beef brisket. The brisket wss incredibly delicious -- very moist and tender. The salad was a decent size, very filling and the fried tanglers gave it a good taste in addition to the other fixings. My friend ordered the 2 meat plate and the portions were large! First time visiting. Really really small establishment. Don't plan on dining here with a group. Most of the tables are two seaters. There's a few more that are four seaters. The space is very confined though. They have a self serve ice cream machine here that's complimentary to the guests. Unfortunately, it was at its freezing point by the time we finished our meals. I had a disappointing experience here this evening. I was staying nearby and ordered food for take-out via GrubHub. I arrived to find my food not prepared, and several of the items ordered out of stock. I don't know who is at fault for allowing me to order food that didn't actually exist, but that was a disappointment. Second, I then had to recite my order to them so they could make it; what happened to my original order? One item I ordered -- the bangers and mash stack (a fancy way to say sausage and mashed potatoes) -- I had to tell them how to make it because they didn't know what it was. Really? You don't know your own menu? Then, as they were filling my sides, I watched a guy refill the mashed potatoes from a sealed plastic bag. Clearly not made onsite, and heated in the plastic bag. Gross. I give you two stars because the meat I did end up with was pretty tasty, but I probably won't come back here if I'm in town again. read more

Let me start with saying that we normally have an EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT, just not on this occasion!!! However, I could not allow this experience go without some course of action. Upon entering the restaurant on 12/20/2020 at 5pm my entire perspective for this establishment has been FOREVER SHIFTED!! I walked in with another woman of color entering in behind me as well, neither of us were greeted but the 2 gentleman working seem to be frantically busy so I put little stock into not being acknowledged (I will mention that not being acknowledged is not the norm). I stood at the area designated to place your order for 6-8 minutes still with neither of the 2 men even recognizing my or the other ladies presence. I then ask the older gentleman who was carving brisket if they were taking orders, and he then responded that they were getting another ladies order ready and would get to me when they were done. I responded with "ok, thank you". The older gentleman finished the other customers order, then asked me what would I like to order. I ask him if they have family packs, and we then proceed to put together the items I would like my family pack to consist of (2lbs of beef brisket, 3 add on beef ribs, rolls, potato salad, Cole slaw, 2 bbq sauces, and green beans). IN THE MIDST OF MAKING MY FOOD A FAMILY WALKS IN (not persons of color) AND THE OLDER GENTLEMAN PAUSES TO GREET THEM, I am then obviously taken aback. I then move to the area to pay for my food (now interacting with the young man that was working) which totaled to be $59.90. After ringing up my food and giving me my card back (not giving me my recipe to sign, he walked away before it printed) the young man walks away out of sight of the register and starts opening up boxes of cups. I take my receipt off the register, sign the restaurant copy, and take my copy. I then wait for the young man to come back to make sure that he and I both had everything that we needed related to my food and the transaction. I tell the young man that I got my receipt and left his copy on the counter, he then says "you didn't need to sign that, you should have just left it". I then grab my food and leave. I prepare the food for my family, noting that the bread is browned more than usual but think nothing of it at that time. My 4yo goes to bite a piece of bread and it was like a hockey puck... all of them were that way with the exception of 1 that wasn't as hard. The ribs (which are normally cooked to perfection) were hard, dry, and salty. AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THERE WAS WHITE/GRAY HAIR FOUND IN THE BRISKET!!!!! I have had it at this point, and I then call the restaurant back to make them aware of what happened. The young man that rang up my order was who answered the phone, he made me aware that his name was John after I had inquired. I then told John about all of the things that were wrong with our food order. John then tells me "the bread warmer can get too warm sometimes and then over cooks the bread, so that's why that happened". Ummm... ok. Then John says "Oh, and the ribs are smoked for 3 hours, but then we put them in the warmer and that can continue to cook the ribs, so that's why that happened". I then say " But John, I have had your food multiple times in the past and have NEVER EVER HAD AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS". John then tells me "well I can refund you for the bread". I then ask for the name of and to speak to the manager on duty (who is apparently the gentleman that carved our brisket and took my order), who's name is Mr. Lingenmeister (not sure if this is correct spelling). I then make him aware of the situation and he then offers to refund the rolls, ribs, and brisket for a total he says of $26. I just say ok, whatever at this point. I will be trying to reach the restaurant manager today and someone at corporate office. This type of customer service is completely and utterly unacceptable, and reflects VERY POORLY ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT! We basically spent our hard earned monies ($33.90 to be exact) ON SIDES (green beans, potato salad, and cole slaw)... all while overlooking the stark differences in treatment seemingly due to something I obviously have no control of. read more

Baked potatoes that were not fully cooked and only had enough toppings for 1 maybe 2 good bites. Brisket tasted like pot roast. I also happened upon Dickey's during an Uber delivery. The aroma in the store was astounding (good)!!!! Ordered some ribs and the flavors were all that the store smells suggested they would be!! We pulled into this shopping center planning to eat lunch at the chain restaurant a couple of doors down. Once we saw the line of hungry customers outside of Dickey's Barbecue Pit, we quickly changed our mind and had to see what is so special about this joint. Stepping inside this place has the feel of the fictional Freddy's BBQ featured in House of Cards. Great food, friendly staff and great conversation. I did a 2 meat combo plate of pulled pork and chicken and added waffle fries and cabbage slaw as the sides. What can I say except absolutely fantastic! I found the meal full of flavor, perfectly prepared and presented, and more than enough food for the hardiest of appetites. My colleague and I actually split this meal because it was sooo much food. Absolute disappointment. We catered meals for 60 people for a work function yesterday. We paid an additional fee for individual packaging so that it would be safe for feeding a large group (as their website boasts). Lunch was scheduled for 11:30 but the restaurant did not offer pick up until 11:15, a tight window indeed. However, we had a plan to have the individual meals divvied upon arrival to both ends of the building. A tight timeline, but achievable. When I realized we did not receive the individually packaged meals we paid for, I was in a panic. I had 60 people clocking out for lunch expecting to eat at 11:30. My admin and I had to set up in our break room, using a random ladle and salad tongs in the drawer to hastily plate meals while people continued to stream in wanting to eat. The pulled pork, sausage, & Mac n cheese were cold. No onions or pickles were provided (as advertised) and lest you've forgotten, they were not individually packaged. I left both a voicemail and sent an email with no response. At minimum, we should receive a refund of the $60 we paid in addition for individual packaging. I expect to receive a response or I will proceed with a report to the BBB. read more

This is my first time at a Dickey's and we ended up here by chance. All the BBQ places I bookmarked were too far or closed. God really knows what he is doing because he sent us to this plaza and we ended up at Dickey's. First off I was very lame because I don't know much about BBQ and had a difficult time ordering. I am most familiar with Kansas style BBQ so I was shocked that there were many sandwich options. The best part of this establishment was the staff! Patient and understanding! Yes I was that annoying customer who had no idea what she wanted to order but the manager who rang up made a crappy week end on a positive note! When I am back in Alabama I'm stopping in for some good. They had a few BBQ sauces to pick from. The meat was delicious! Compared to BBQ back home I got SOO MUCH food. Brisket was cooked to perfection! Honestly if you are looking for a place to have a quick meal stop in! They also have free soft serve! So it's been about 5 months since we had a negative experience at Dickey's in Huntsville and we really like the food so we thought we would give them another chance. I ordered online. when I arrived at my selected pick up time, I get there the employee had a really bad attitude. Dickey's employee told the Uber eats guy that they are always F up and I thought it was going to be a fight at the register. My food order was super messed up and he argued with me about my order accuracy. This Dickey's employee stood in the kitchen saying if I see one more Uber eats guy I'm going to shoot them. I wrote corporate and told them what happened and I got no response. I even offered them the video that I started to record once the employee got in a heated argument with Uber eats employee. So, I'm not sure what is going on at this restaurant. We LOVE Dickey's restaurant, but the basic standards are lacking. Perhaps the management is under-trained resulting in sub-standard customer service. Food was just fair, ice cream machine broken, trash on uncleaned countertops, 3 containers of tea on counter (2 empty), floor is filthy, cell phone out and being used by brisket server . Lastly, sign on door says masks are required, BUT brisket server and cashier are not wearing them! If you require customers to wear them, then your staff should honor that requirement as well. This restaurant could be great, but someone needs to take charge and start holding employees accountable & set a high standard!
