Dickey's is located at the rear of Pier Park in a small separated plaza at the corner of Back Beach and Pier Park W. If you know Dickey's, then you know what to expect from layout, decor, ordering flow and of course, food. The only different thing with this location that you do not see too often is they have a photo wall, where if you pay $5, you can get up on the wall. Lots of folks do it and it seems to be a cool way to engage folks and make memories, even through a chain restaurant. Food wise, we went with a few classics. Pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw, then a Two Meat plate, with turkey and jalapeño cheddar sausage sided with fried okra and green beans. The sandwich and slaw were classic, the jalapeño sausage was solid, while the turkey was a bit dry...but the star of the meal, which is honestly one of the main reasons we stopped in, was the fried okra. Always perfectly fried and on point...worth the macros. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The owners are super kind, and pay it forward for the local community, which is noted in several places throughout the restaurant. While Dickey's is not the best BBQ by far, it is consistent, well portioned and tasty. No major issues and we will definitely be back when in PP and craving a bit of easy, fast casual BBQ! read more

I really love BBQ and I'm an avid smoke master myself. I really enjoy Dickey's bbq and what they stand for. Sometimes it's not all about the food but the people and reason behind the business and food. One guy was working this location all by himself. The food way really good the second time I stopped by. My wife and I were staying on Panama City Beach and we took the mile walk to Pier Park and got a solid beer at a nice liquor store and picked up 1/4 pound of Brisket and 1/4 pound of pulled pork from Dickey's. The guys behind the counter were super awesome and they also threw in a spicy BBQ sauce, (Which was amazing!) The place is clean and has plenty of seating and just a neat little restaurant, pretty reasonable too. We brought my food and beverage down to the picnic tables down by the beach and pier. The meat was super juicy and I can't say I preferred one of the meats over another. Maybe the brisket was a little more flavorful with the nice bits of fat, not overly crazy though. DO NOT go to Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Panama City Beach!!! We went today for their kids eat free Sunday deal and were treated so horribly by a man named Sal that I'm still in shock. It was humiliating, hostile, and flat out unprofessional. Here's what happened. We had never been before, but we went because kids eat free on Sundays and wanted BBQ. My daughter is still 12 (her birthday isn't until September 12), so she qualifies. My stepdad went first. He had a coupon for a free sandwich, so he ordered two sandwiches for himself. I ordered meals for me and my daughter, plus a couple of sides. Now before you read this next part just know I've asked myself the same thing everyone is probably going to think. "Why didn't we just leave?" and honestly I have no idea why we didn't, we should have. Maybe it's because we already ordered the food and were in shock of what was happening. Anyway. When my stepdad handed Sal his coupon, thats when things turned ugly. Instead of honoring it, Sal snapped saying "I'm not giving you both promotions. You can either use the free kids meal or the sandwich coupon." My stepdad calmly explained that we were paying separately, but Sal immediately accused him of trying to scam him, saying things like "Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not a fool. You're trying to get over on me." My stepdad was completely blindsided and tried to explain he wasn't doing anything wrong. He even said, "If I need to just pay for the sandwich so they can use the kids meal, that's fine. I'll save the coupon for another day." He Just didn't understand why he couldn't use his coupon on one of the sandwiches. But Sal wouldn't let it go, making it seem like we were trying to steal from him over just a couple of dollars. My stepdad ended up paying full price, but when he asked for his coupon back, Sal tried to keep it! When I said "Hold on, why are you keeping his coupon if you didn't let him use it?", he finally tossed one back at us but it wasn't even the same one. It was a signed, already used coupon, basically useless. Then came my turn to pay, The first thing Sal said to me was, "I'm not giving you the kids meal. She's not 12." I explained that yes, she is 12, and I even gave him her birthdate. He sneered and demanded ID from her. I told him, "She's 12, she doesn't have an ID." Now, yes, my daughter looks older than 12, but the fact is she's still 12 until September 12. Instead of honoring their own promotion, Sal was accusing me of lying and trying to cheat him. To make it worse, As he was denying us the kids meal, he starts bragging about his 5,000 5 star reviews and he points to a sign behind me that literally said something along the lines of, "If you're short on cash, don't worry. God wants us to help each other." The hypocrisy was unbelievable and the irony was almost laughable. I told him, "I'm not trying to get over on you. I'm just here for the promotions you advertise. You're the one refusing to honor them." Eventually, he agreed to give me the kids meal, but told me to never come back asking for a promotion again. By this point, I was shaken and embarrassed, and instead of sitting down to eat like we had planned, I just wanted to leave and asked for takeout boxes. As I went back up to grab lids, my stepdad began talking to a customer in line about what had just happened. I chimed in and said, "Yea, he almost refused my daughter the kids meal." That's when another employee jumped in and rudely said, "She's not 12." At that point, I was so mad, I went to my car, grabbed my phone, and pulled up a baby picture of my daughter with her birthdate to try to somehow prove to them that she was 12. Instead of looking, he said he was calling the police, said to never come back to his establishment and started VIDEOING my 12 year old daughter! The way this kept escalating for no reason was insane to me!! We waited outside for the police, because honestly I wanted them to show up so I could explain how we were treated. But no one ever came. Still, we were left completely in shock, humiliated, my daughter was embarrassed and uncomfortable, This whole experience was just strange and absolutely unacceptable. Sal belittled us, accused me of lying, humiliated my daughter("because she doesn't look little")and then threatened to call the police because we "talked to his customers in line."We literally did nothing wrong for us to be treated the way we were. If Sal is the owner, I cannot understand how this location is still in business treating costumers like that. read more

I ordered a 3 meat plate and a loaded pull pork baked potato. The 3 meat plate was supposed to be Ribs,Brisket and pulled pork. I got a bone with some hard burnt meat in it and little pieces of "rib" meat that was burnt and hard as a rock. You would think that at a time like this cleanliness would be a priority. Not here. They're only using four tables and none of them were occupied when we arrived. None of the tables were clean. I had to go get a rag out of their sanitizer bucket and wipe a table off before sitting down. I would understand if they were busy but with an empty restaurant you could at least wipe the tables down. During this pandemic you are supposed to be sanitizing between guests. But even worse than that, TEACH YOUR EMPLOYEES THE BASICS OF HAND WASHING AND GLOVE USE! I've seen this on multiple visits here. Using the cash register and then put gloves on to serve food without washing hands. This time they actually have a large Rubbermaid trash can in front of the hand sink.
