Blackened catfish with Mac and cheese and carrots

Had a reservation, still waited a bit. Guy behind me lost something in his seat so I kept getting jostled. That aside? Great food, very good prices for the portion sizes, and courteous service. Crowd is mostly casual but we had a decent time.

I visited Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse today celebrating my auntie's birthday. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a family gathering. It does get pretty busy, but that just shows how popular the place is. The service was solid. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed attentive and kept things moving smoothly, which I really appreciated, especially for a special occasion. Everyone at the table ordered something different off the menu, and it was nice being able to see (and taste) a variety of dishes. I personally had the smoked chicken with pork and beans, macaroni and cheese with crackers crumbled on it. Overall, everything was good and satisfying. The sides were definitely amazing. The pork and beans had a rich, smoky flavor, and the mac and cheese with the crackers was creamy and comforting. The smoked chicken was juicy (chefs kiss) tender and cooked well, though I do feel like it could've been seasoned just a little more to really take it to the next level. All in all, it was a great time with good food, good vibes, and solid service. I'd definitely come back.

First visit and no non alcoholic Beers. I had a garden Salad with a Plain Baked Potato. Looking around the portions are huge. Also had the wings. Food good tho on the high end. A bit loud, clean and lots of parking. Please make it better by serving all Organic Foods and beverages with Spicy Creole seasoning, with Habanero hot sauce. The staff especially the waiter was friendly and service was good. Casual and loud.

My family and I stopped at Pappas Delta Blues while in the area. We parked, walked in, and were greeted by several friendly hosts. We were then seated pretty quickly. The restaurant had a several sections for seating and a large bar area with interesting decor. After being seated we waited awhile before our waiter came over and greeted us. He was very friendly and took great care of us the entire time we were there. He got our drink order and gave us menus. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks and took our order. To start we all shared an order of rolls. The rolls were good. They were soft, hot, and a good size. The butter melted on them as it was applied. My son ordered a steak with the macaroni and potato salad. He doesn't eat sides so my husband and I had a lot to share but he said his medium cooked steak was delicious. My husband ordered the prime brisket combo which comes with brisket and another choice of meat. He chose pork plus two sides which were cream corn and smashed potatoes. He finished the meat and said it was good. He really liked the flavor of the cream corn. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the brisket benedict which comes with brisket and a poached egg on top of a biscuit and a side of hash browns potatoes. I wasn't sure what to think with the combination of brisket and poached eggs but I was pleasantly surprised. The biscuit was thick and strong enough to hold all of the ingredients. The brisket was a nice addition. It was semi salty and tender. The poached egg was a positive bonus. I like eggs and the way the yolk tastes all over everything. The combination of the ingredients made a savory benedict. The hash brown potatoes were good. The potatoes were crunchy on the exterior and the bigger potatoes were soft on the interior. They were mixed with small green onion, grilled onions, and peppers which gave them a hint of extra flavor. I tried the macaroni and it was really good. It had a crumble on it which I liked plus the macaroni was tender and the cheese flavor was there. The potato salad was okay as it had some good sized potatoes but it only had a a little flavor. The mashed potatoes were okay as they were soft and smooth with a hint of butter. The cream corn was delicious. It was creamy and very flavorful. My husband and I both agreed that it was the yummiest and tastiest side. Overall Pappas Delta Blues was a good stop to have lunch. The restaurant has lots of seating, the service was great, and the food was pretty good.

First time eating here. Such a great atmosphere. This place is lively and the staff were very friendly. Our waitress Courtney was very helpful explaining the menu. We started with an appetizer. Sunday's Deviled Eggs smoked pork belly & homemade pickled onions, with Crystal hot sauce. I got the Rib Combo. Along with the Ribs I chose Smoked Pork Belly. The two sides I chose were Pit Smoked Beans and Beans and Green Beans. Everything tasted great! Very generous portions. We were brought some bbq sauces but to be honest the food tasted great the way it came out. Definitely coming back.

Stopped by to celebrate a family birthday. On a Sunday afternoon, this place seems to be popular with families. The wait staff was kind and helpful. The food selection was vast. We were a party of five and we tried the parker house rolls, and boudin as appetizers. I had the fried shrimp with mac and cheese and glazed carrots. Others at the table enjoyed the pork belly burger, chicken and waffles and brunch plate. Notably, the boudin was smokey and contained brisket (yum). The rolls were a little lighter than I am accustomed but they were warm and tasty. I will certainly return to try more of the menu selections.

I had the catfish, and it was really, really good -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I genuinely enjoyed my meal from start to finish. The service was great, and the atmosphere had a cute, country-style vibe with light music in the background that wasn't too loud, which made it perfect for conversation. It felt like a relaxed, welcoming spot that's ideal for a family dinner or casual night out. Overall, Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse is a great place, and I'll definitely be back.

Great ambiance, Lovely and clean location. Staff is very friendly and polite from entry to departure. Now to what you all want the food. Nachos with pulled pork- great tasting chips. Doesn't have that old oily flavor that I get from most places. The pork is well seasoned and has a nice hint of smoke flavored that doesn't overwhelms the pork taste itself. Smoked pork belly- OMG these are sweet, soft and tender. The honey glaze isn't too hard to where it sticks on your teeth but just right where it melts in your mouth. The belly wasn't fatty and greasy (thank goodness) this is a must have. Pork ribs combo with chicken- chicken was cooked well but kind of bland. All the seasoning and flavor was on the skin of the chicken. The smoked pork was wonderful the flavor was actually in the ribs and really juicy. I got it with the green beans and carrots and they are great. I like how the carrots are cooked well enough where it's not mushy but has some firmness and the beans also has a nice flavor with an oil that I can't get my tongue wrapped around but it's really good. Now to my server Kyaana- she was FANTASTIC very friendly and polite. Checked up on us numerous times which I really appreciated. Best part, we said that we would share the pork Combo we ordered and she actually had it separated on 2 plates so we both won't have to be sharing from one. That's great anticipation of someone's needs (5 stars). I did come here at an earlier date and had another server and I feel bad I forgot to check-in because that gentleman was nice also. The meals on that day was: Prime burger- This was Wonderfully, juicy, and tasty. The meat was cooked to medium as requested and the fries were awesome as well. Pork ribs combo with brisket- ribs fantastic and juicy, smoke flavor is a hit. The briskets tasted well and wasn't as dry as they looked but it was a really small portion for the amount you pay for it. The Mac and cheese was really creamy and nice. The macaroni wasn't over cooked and soggy and the cheese wasn't too much where it was running. The mashed potatoes was a NO NO it was grainy which tells me it was boxed and not real mashed but still wasn't creamy. It felt like sandish or like grits. Other than that this is a wonderful spot and will be trying the brunch soon.

It's high time for an updated assessment of Delta Blues Smokehouse (DBS), which I last reviewed with a solid four stars in November 2017. Following my visit last night, I'm happy to report that DBS is now deserving of a full five stars. I've been to DBS quite a number of times since it succeeded the late Bone Daddy's almost a decade ago. What brought me back on this occasion was Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), an annual culinary event that allows diners to give back to the community. At $39, DBS's HRW dinner is, in my book, a certified grand slam. My three-course meal began with the house salad, followed by a meat platter featuring two pork ribs with slices of beef brisket and pork belly, and was finished with a warm pecan cobbler. As I waited for the salad, I worried about how small each dish might be, but I was quickly proven wrong. The fact that it took me quite a while to finish the salad alone was a great indication that everything else would be just as sizable. The salad was fresh, though I do wish the croutons weren't quite so massive. But that's a minor detail, and it certainly didn't detract from the meal. The meats were, without a doubt, the major standout of the dinner. The ribs along with the cuts of brisket and pork belly were accompanied by tasty bowls of creamed corn pudding and cole slaw. I focused on the brisket and the pork belly first, and they were perfectly tender, juicy, and bore a great hint of smokiness. You might think with just two ribs, I ate them in a flash. However, that wasn't the case; the ribs were huge and so rich with deliciously sweet meat that easily fell off the bone. I even told the bartender--I was sitting at the bar to catch the Astros game--that because there was so much food, I almost forgot about the ribs! The pecan cobbler was a fitting ending to a truly massive dinner. The dessert itself was big beyond belief, but despite being stuffed, I still managed to make my way through it. I could describe it as sweet, rich, and satisfying. The ice cream that served as the foundation had melted, which I didn't mind at all since it meshed well with the pecans. To conclude, this HRW experience at DBS was nothing short of a five-star meal. It was truly one worth participating in.

I'm giving this a 3... the food was outstanding as were the cocktails. Our server on the other hand was less than stellar. Flighty. Ditzy. We had to ask for flatwear, we had to flag down another server for drinks.. it just wasn't up to the normal standards for a Pappas restaurant. But, all the food was really good. My catfish ate like a steak.. seasoned perfectly!

Went for brunch! It was a little busy. We went saturday morning but we got seated right away since there was only 2 of us. I enjoyed the chatter and the atmosphere around us. The corn pudding was a 1000/10. It was my first time trying it and the spice and taste was absolutely delicious. The pork belly bites and chicken wings were good as usual. Boyfriend enjoyed the brisket biscuits but nothing to rave about. He also said the corn pudding was fantastic. I will be going back for their happy hour :)

When I walked in, the place was clean and the aroma of BBQ was smelling really good in the air. The decor was very nice and the owner was even nicer and very welcoming. I went in there only looking for ribs because I have found that a really good rib is hard to find, however, the ribs here were very tasty, a little pricey, but very good. I always say that I don't mind paying extra when the food is as good as the money spent for it. Now, let me tell you that I only purchased a pound of ribs and a quart of Mac and cheese and the M&C was also good. I believe that the young man helping behind the counter was the owner's son so that tells me that the business is family owned, can't go wrong with that. The other sides looked delicious as well but I was not really that hungry for other dishes. I will go back and try the other items on the menu at another time. I used to come here all the time with an ex-boyfriend but haven't been back in years. I made the drive from Katy to Bacliff to pick up some vintage garden trellises, and at just two miles away, I immediately knew lunch had to be at T-Bone Tom's. One of my favorite things about this place is the absolutely massive outdoor seating area. It's covered, so normally it's a fantastic place to sit without roasting in direct sun, but after several days of heavy rain mixed with Houston humidity and temperatures around 90 degrees, there was absolutely no convincing anyone in my party that sitting outside for lunch was a good idea. Only my second time ever sitting indoors here. The place was already bustling by 11:30 and packed by noon, which tells you everything you need to know. We were greeted immediately when we arrived, and even though we came through the back entrance for patio seating, the hostess was cheerful and accompanied us to the dining room, where we were also immediately greeted by one of the indoor hostesses. Our server Joshua was excellent throughout the meal--friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always on top of things. We started with drinks and boudin balls, which came with four and ranch dressing. I tend to go through phases of what I'm addicted to, and right now it's boudin balls. If it's on the menu, I'm ordering them. These were fried to perfection, hot, and delicious. A great appetizer to start the meal. While we waited to order our main course, there were two things our table seemed to rave about: giant drink glasses and crackers. It sounds silly, but not having to constantly wait around for refills makes a big difference. And crackers on the table? It seemed like memory lane for the older members of our party, who quite enjoy bits of nostalgia. So few restaurants bother doing little things like that anymore, so my lunch selection was awarding me kudos before the lunch even started! Mom and Mark split the 14 oz. ribeye with spinach and potato salad. Although splitting two sides might have been enough, Mom added a side of mashed potatoes for herself. It's always a toss up with restaurants and steak. True mediums aren't always a true medium--you have to order medium rare or medium well to get it just right. But the medium here is actually a medium. Mom kept talking about how delicious the steak was and said it was one of the best she's had in a long time. If you know my mom, compliments don't come easy. It's a big deal. Ha. I ordered the plate I always get: the Monterey chicken with fried okra and spinach. It may have been years since I was last here, but this dish is as excellent as it has always been, if not better. The chicken was incredibly tender, cooked perfectly, and covered with flavorful mushrooms and onions. I also really love that their vegetables are homemade rather than straight out of a freezer bag. The fried okra and fresh spinach were wonderful. Berta ordered the chopped beef sandwich with potato salad. They gave her so much beef, there was enough for two people to enjoy that plate. She ended up taking more than half home. We finished the meal with vanilla ice cream and their infamous bread pudding, which was warm, rich, and easily enough dessert for four people to share. Mom had ordered it for herself and said she didn't want to share, but when she saw how big the portion was, she asked Berta and I to join in. T-Bone Tom's is a popular place among locals and tourists alike. It offers great food, a fun atmosphere, friendly service, and remains one of those places that still feels uniquely Texas in the best possible way. We'll definitely be back, and much sooner this time!
