Doesn't have that old oily flavor that I get from most places. The pork is well seasoned and has a nice hint of smoke flavored that doesn't overwhelms the pork taste itself. Smoked pork belly- OMG these are sweet, soft and tender. The honey glaze isn't too hard to where it sticks on your teeth but just right where it melts in your mouth. The belly wasn't fatty and greasy (thank goodness) this is a must have. Pork ribs combo with chicken- chicken was cooked well but kind of bland. All the seasoning and flavor was on the skin of the chicken. The smoked pork was wonderful the flavor was actually in the ribs and really juicy. I got it with the green beans and carrots and they are great. I like how the carrots are cooked well enough where it's not mushy but has some firmness and the beans also has a nice flavor with an oil that I can't get my tongue wrapped around but it's really good. Now to my server Kyaana- she was FANTASTIC very friendly and polite. Checked up on us numerous times which I really appreciated. Best part, we said that we would share the pork Combo we ordered and she actually had it separated on 2 plates so we both won't have to be sharing from one. That's great anticipation of someone's needs (5 stars). I did come here at an earlier date and had another server and I feel bad I forgot to check-in because that gentleman was nice also. The meals on that day was: Prime burger- This was Wonderfully, juicy, and tasty. The meat was cooked to medium as requested and the fries were awesome as well. Pork ribs combo with brisket- ribs fantastic and juicy, smoke flavor is a hit. The briskets tasted well and wasn't as dry as they looked but it was a really small portion for the amount you pay for it. The Mac and cheese was really creamy and nice. The macaroni wasn't over cooked and soggy and the cheese wasn't too much where it was running. The mashed potatoes was a NO NO it was grainy which tells me it was boxed and not real mashed but still wasn't creamy. It felt like sandish or like grits. I visited Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse today celebrating my auntie's birthday. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a family gathering. It does get pretty busy, but that just shows how popular the place is. The service was solid. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed attentive and kept things moving smoothly, which I really appreciated, especially for a special occasion. Everyone at the table ordered something different off the menu, and it was nice being able to see (and taste) a variety of dishes. I personally had the smoked chicken with pork and beans, macaroni and cheese with crackers crumbled on it. Overall, everything was good and satisfying. The sides were definitely amazing. My family and I stopped at Pappas Delta Blues while in the area. We parked, walked in, and were greeted by several friendly hosts. We were then seated pretty quickly. The restaurant had a several sections for seating and a large bar area with interesting decor. After being seated we waited awhile before our waiter came over and greeted us. He was very friendly and took great care of us the entire time we were there. He got our drink order and gave us menus. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks and took our order. To start we all shared an order of rolls. The rolls were good. They were soft, hot, and a good size. The butter melted on them as it was applied. My son ordered a steak with the macaroni and potato salad. He doesn't eat sides so my husband and I had a lot to share but he said his medium cooked steak was delicious. My husband ordered the prime brisket combo which comes with brisket and another choice of meat. He chose pork plus two sides which were cream corn and smashed potatoes. He finished the meat and said it was good. He really liked the flavor of the cream corn. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the brisket benedict which comes with brisket and a poached egg on top of a biscuit and a side of hash browns potatoes. I wasn't sure what to think with the combination of brisket and poached eggs but I was pleasantly surprised. The biscuit was thick and strong enough to hold all of the ingredients. The brisket was a nice addition. It was semi salty and tender. The poached egg was a positive bonus. I like eggs and the way the yolk tastes all over everything. The combination of the ingredients made a savory benedict. The hash brown potatoes were good. The potatoes were crunchy on the exterior and the bigger potatoes were soft on the interior. They were mixed with small green onion, grilled onions, and peppers which gave them a hint of extra flavor. I tried the macaroni and it was really good. It had a crumble on it which I liked plus the macaroni was tender and the cheese flavor was there. The potato salad was okay as it had some good sized potatoes but it only had a a little flavor. The mashed potatoes were okay as they were soft and smooth with a hint of butter. The cream corn was delicious. It was creamy and very flavorful. Stopped by to celebrate a family birthday. On a Sunday afternoon, this place seems to be popular with families. The wait staff was kind and helpful. The food selection was vast. We were a party of five and we tried the parker house rolls, and boudin as appetizers. I had the fried shrimp with mac and cheese and glazed carrots. It's high time for an updated assessment of Delta Blues Smokehouse (DBS), which I last reviewed with a solid four stars in November 2017. Following my visit last night, I'm happy to report that DBS is now deserving of a full five stars. ​I've been to DBS quite a number of times since it succeeded the late Bone Daddy's almost a decade ago. What brought me back on this occasion was Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), an annual culinary event that allows diners to give back to the community. At $39, DBS's HRW dinner is, in my book, a certified grand slam. ​My three-course meal began with the house salad, followed by a meat platter featuring two pork ribs with slices of beef brisket and pork belly, and was finished with a warm pecan cobbler. As I waited for the salad, I worried about how small each dish might be, but I was quickly proven wrong. The fact that it took me quite a while to finish the salad alone was a great indication that everything else would be just as sizable. ​The salad was fresh, though I do wish the croutons weren't quite so massive. But that's a minor detail, and it certainly didn't detract from the meal. ​The meats were, without a doubt, the major standout of the dinner. The ribs along with the cuts of brisket and pork belly were accompanied by tasty bowls of creamed corn pudding and cole slaw. I focused on the brisket and the pork belly first, and they were perfectly tender, juicy, and bore a great hint of smokiness. ​You might think with just two ribs, I ate them in a flash. However, that wasn't the case; the ribs were huge and so rich with deliciously sweet meat that easily fell off the bone. I even told the bartender--I was sitting at the bar to catch the Astros game--that because there was so much food, I almost forgot about the ribs! ​The pecan cobbler was a fitting ending to a truly massive dinner. The dessert itself was big beyond belief, but despite being stuffed, I still managed to make my way through it. I could describe it as sweet, rich, and satisfying. The ice cream that served as the foundation had melted, which I didn't mind at all since it meshed well with the pecans. ​To conclude, this HRW experience at DBS was nothing short of a five-star meal. Went there for Father's Day 2025 and again for my wife's birthday July 2025. The food is pretty good, the restaurant is nice and all, the service or just okay. On father's day we were sat at a table with a constant condensation drip from the ceiling. I don't want that moldy water on my food. On my wife's birthday, they had a waiter that was in training and everyone starts somewhere, that doesn't make the experience any less irritating. We came here with a party of eight on a Saturday and had an early reservation of 5:30 pm but it was still packed. We ordered a range of dishes, from steak, chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, brisket sandwiches and burgers. If you are the type of person who wavers between chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, I can tell you that the chicken is better, but it is saltier. The burgers were reportedly good cooked at Medium and the brisket met expectations. Going back to the appetizers, the brisket nachos were a hit-it has beans!!, as was the brisket queso, and the chicken wings. For dessert, the mud pie was shared and it was as chocolatey as it was rich. They have screens and a bar area, but most people seemed really into their tablemates so the TVs didn't attract much attention. Service was good for the most part but we did have an incident where we waited entirely too long for the last two entrees (burger + brisket sandwich) to hit our table, but the manager addressed it, and also took those off our bill -which we didn't expect, simply wanted everyone to enjoy their food simultaneously. Went with my friend for lunch the other day and it was so delicious. Our server was a little too attentive but we were just having a girls day trying to catch up and didn't want the interruptions. Our food was amazing though. We ordered the deviled eggs and I got the steak salad. The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how I love it and their vinaigrette dressing was so so good and complimented my salad perfectly. My friend ordered the pork chops and it was HUGE, again cooked perfectly. She let me taste it and it was hands down one of the best pork chops I've ever tasted. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the waitress was very kind! We came in at 5:30 on a Friday, were seated around 5:50 (had a reservation for 10 that got messed up). The food was good overall but had a few gripes -- the service was pretty slow and by the time the kiddos got their dinners they were hangry. And then they were falling asleep at the table and didn't eat much of it because it took over an hour. In addition the portion of brisket was tiny in the combo -- 3 super thin small slices, really just a couple of bites (in all the pictures I saw on yelp it was 4 pretty hearty pieces). Whereas the ribs in my husband's combo took up half the plate. The pork belly I got was also all shredded and didn't have a ton of flavor, and looked nothing like the pictures on yelp (I think I got what was left over). It was tasty food generally and thankfully I didn't have a huge appetite but I could see others being disappointed. I also don't think I'd bring kids again and also try to eat at an off time. The Brisket, potato salad and pork and beans were really good. However, the Gumbo was not good. My husband loves the Gumbo at the other Pappas restaurants and thought it would be good here. Definitely make a reservation as we were able to walk in and be seated almost immediately. Ordered a couple of baked potatoes loaded with brisket and smoked turkey with the sour cream on the side, a couple of meat combos, and an order of fried green tomatoes. What we thought was a fairly simple meal. Got our water with lemon which so needed on this hot and humid Texas day. And then we waited and waited and waited..... Waited for small plates for our appetizer. Waited for our meal. Waited for silverware. Waited for bar-b-que sauce as the tables around our table that got there after us started to get their meals. So we asked about the fried green tomatoes. And the small plates and the silverware. And we were told it was coming each of the four times we asked. After over a half hour wait, our baked potatoes (without the sour cream on the side which never was brought to the table despite multiple reminders) and combo barbecue meals finally came to our table. No basket of barbecue sauce. We even had to ask for that. So what about the fried green tomato appetizer, we asked? That came out once we were halfway done with our meal. And I walked to the server to pay our bill with no July birthday or anniversary dessert, but they did comp the very, very, very late fried green tomatoes. Very surprised at this service and especially as we watched the other tables around us getting their appetizers and meals. I need to be upfront: it genuinely pains me to write a negative review about anything Pappas-related, but this experience at Delta Blues was unacceptable. I arrived at 8:45 PM and placed my order around 8:55 PM. I started with the Pork Belly Bites, which were flawless--no complaints there. I ordered the BBQ Feast and fried chicken. My server, Ashley, was excellent, attentive, and professional, which made this situation even more frustrating because the service was not the problem. A manager came by to let us know they were out of ribs, so we doubled the brisket instead. He also explained that the chicken was cooked to order and asked if we were okay with the BBQ Feast coming out first. We agreed. When the BBQ Feast arrived, it was shockingly cold. Not "warm but cooling down" cold--actually cold. The brisket was so cold that the fat had already begun to harden. That should never happen in a restaurant like this. I even took a photo because it was that noticeable. The pulled pork was also cold. Yes, the flavors were there, but cold barbecue defeats the entire purpose. The green beans were fine, the fries were hot, and my mother said the potato salad was good--but none of that excuses cold brisket. Then came the fried chicken. It finally arrived at 9:40 PM--nearly an hour after ordering. According to my family, it tasted good, but waiting an hour for chicken after already being served cold food is ridiculous. Bottom line: I love this place, which is why this experience felt especially disappointing. The prices for this food are not cheap, and being served cold brisket and waiting an hour for chicken made me feel cheated. This is not the standard I expect from Delta Blues or the Pappas name. We went to Delta Blues because we wanted a nice steak for dinner. Luckily for us, it was steak night, so we ordered the special. It was a nice ribeye with choice of two sides or the loaded baked potato. So we ordered the special with a potato. Our server was excellent and did a great job for us. We were happy the restaurant was casual since we were dressed accordingly. Now back to the food - the steak was perfectly cooked to our request. It had the right amount of fat and seasoning. It was basically melt in your mouth delicious. Now for the 4, not 5, stars... the loaded potato was terrible. The amount of butter, sour cream, cheese, etc. was minimal at best. Salt and pepper didn't help it, and more butter was useless. I'm not really sure how a baked potato could be so flavorless, but it was.
