Houston Restaurant Weeks offers some great deals but Delta Blues takes it to another level. Part of the Pappas family of restaurant, this is their high end, elevated bbq stop that takes bbq and steaks to a new level. For starters, their HRW dinner menu sits at the low end price wise with a $40 option. Sure you can upgrade to a better steak but you can land a filet mignon on the $40 menu. Appetizers offered include a salad, a queso with sausage and chips and a boudin link. We sampled all. And because I love pork belly added their sticky pork belly appetizer to the table. First off, they don't skimp on the HRW portions. The waitress was clear that the boudin only had one link but it's was more than enough with the seasoned crackers, pickled onions and stone mustard. The queso features beef sausage and homemade chips. And the pig cubes are magic. Sticky and perfectly cooked. Mains too are well executed and plentiful. The steak eaters smiled big and those of us who opted for the triple bbq option were floored by the big ribs and the two additional meats that filled the plate. And than add 2 sides (bring an empty belly and plan on leftovers. Dessert is stunning as well. The cheesecake was light and fresh and the pecan cobbler an artistic delight. Shout out to the management who stopped at the table to discuss allergy precautions staff would take to protect a member of our party and to our super waitress Malaysia who handled our party with humor and kindness. She had a great handle on the menu and continually brought us containers for leftovers. The restaurant itself is relaxed but well appointed in the style you expect from Pappas. Run people! read more

The restaurant is big and has the southern charm and hospitality. It offers open bar with first come first served basis. Great atmosphere overall. Was in the area for work and walked 0.7 miles each way from my hotel to Pappas Delta Blues -- rain or shine. Monday I power-walked through a straight-up monsoon. Thursday I was standing in the middle of the road waiting to cross when a cop pulled over: "You okay?" "Yeah, just trying to get to Papa Delta Blues." He let me go. Legend. Worth every soggy shoe. Night 1: Brisket sold out after 8pm. American Airlines had only fed me one biscotti all day so I was feral. Waiter recommended the ribeye with mushroom sauce -- the good stuff from the Pappas family legacy, where the cows apparently have better résumés than most people. It arrived and I almost cried. He even sliced a piece to confirm medium rare like a steak sommelier. Sides were ridiculous. Went back ordered ribeye again. Did it plain. Did it with onions. Creamed corn changed my life. Staff is suspiciously nice. Brisket never stood a chance. This ribeye (and the walk) owns me now. I visited Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse today celebrating my auntie's birthday. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a family gathering. It does get pretty busy, but that just shows how popular the place is. The service was solid. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed attentive and kept things moving smoothly, which I really appreciated, especially for a special occasion. Everyone at the table ordered something different off the menu, and it was nice being able to see (and taste) a variety of dishes. I personally had the smoked chicken with pork and beans, macaroni and cheese with crackers crumbled on it. Overall, everything was good and satisfying. The sides were definitely amazing. The pork and beans had a rich, smoky flavor, and the mac and cheese with the crackers was creamy and comforting. The smoked chicken was juicy (chefs kiss) tender and cooked well, though I do feel like it could've been seasoned just a little more to really take it to the next level. My family and I stopped at Pappas Delta Blues while in the area. We parked, walked in, and were greeted by several friendly hosts. We were then seated pretty quickly. The restaurant had a several sections for seating and a large bar area with interesting decor. After being seated we waited awhile before our waiter came over and greeted us. He was very friendly and took great care of us the entire time we were there. He got our drink order and gave us menus. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks and took our order. To start we all shared an order of rolls. The rolls were good. They were soft, hot, and a good size. The butter melted on them as it was applied. My son ordered a steak with the macaroni and potato salad. He doesn't eat sides so my husband and I had a lot to share but he said his medium cooked steak was delicious. My husband ordered the prime brisket combo which comes with brisket and another choice of meat. He chose pork plus two sides which were cream corn and smashed potatoes. He finished the meat and said it was good. He really liked the flavor of the cream corn. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the brisket benedict which comes with brisket and a poached egg on top of a biscuit and a side of hash browns potatoes. I wasn't sure what to think with the combination of brisket and poached eggs but I was pleasantly surprised. The biscuit was thick and strong enough to hold all of the ingredients. The brisket was a nice addition. It was semi salty and tender. The poached egg was a positive bonus. I like eggs and the way the yolk tastes all over everything. The combination of the ingredients made a savory benedict. The hash brown potatoes were good. The potatoes were crunchy on the exterior and the bigger potatoes were soft on the interior. They were mixed with small green onion, grilled onions, and peppers which gave them a hint of extra flavor. I tried the macaroni and it was really good. It had a crumble on it which I liked plus the macaroni was tender and the cheese flavor was there. The potato salad was okay as it had some good sized potatoes but it only had a a little flavor. The mashed potatoes were okay as they were soft and smooth with a hint of butter. The cream corn was delicious. It was creamy and very flavorful. My husband and I both agreed that it was the yummiest and tastiest side. Overall Pappas Delta Blues was a good stop to have lunch. Stopped by to celebrate a family birthday. On a Sunday afternoon, this place seems to be popular with families. The wait staff was kind and helpful. The food selection was vast. We were a party of five and we tried the parker house rolls, and boudin as appetizers. I had the fried shrimp with mac and cheese and glazed carrots. Great ambiance, Lovely and clean location. Staff is very friendly and polite from entry to departure. Now to what you all want the food. Nachos with pulled pork- great tasting chips. Doesn't have that old oily flavor that I get from most places. The pork is well seasoned and has a nice hint of smoke flavored that doesn't overwhelms the pork taste itself. Smoked pork belly- OMG these are sweet, soft and tender. The honey glaze isn't too hard to where it sticks on your teeth but just right where it melts in your mouth. All the seasoning and flavor was on the skin of the chicken. The smoked pork was wonderful the flavor was actually in the ribs and really juicy. I like how the carrots are cooked well enough where it's not mushy but has some firmness and the beans also has a nice flavor with an oil that I can't get my tongue wrapped around but it's really good. Now to my server Kyaana- she was FANTASTIC very friendly and polite. Checked up on us numerous times which I really appreciated. Best part, we said that we would share the pork Combo we ordered and she actually had it separated on 2 plates so we both won't have to be sharing from one. That's great anticipation of someone's needs (5 stars). I did come here at an earlier date and had another server and I feel bad I forgot to check-in because that gentleman was nice also. The meals on that day was: Prime burger- This was Wonderfully, juicy, and tasty. The meat was cooked to medium as requested and the fries were awesome as well. The briskets tasted well and wasn't as dry as they looked but it was a really small portion for the amount you pay for it. The Mac and cheese was really creamy and nice. It's high time for an updated assessment of Delta Blues Smokehouse (DBS), which I last reviewed with a solid four stars in November 2017. Following my visit last night, I'm happy to report that DBS is now deserving of a full five stars. ​I've been to DBS quite a number of times since it succeeded the late Bone Daddy's almost a decade ago. What brought me back on this occasion was Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), an annual culinary event that allows diners to give back to the community. At $39, DBS's HRW dinner is, in my book, a certified grand slam. ​My three-course meal began with the house salad, followed by a meat platter featuring two pork ribs with slices of beef brisket and pork belly, and was finished with a warm pecan cobbler. As I waited for the salad, I worried about how small each dish might be, but I was quickly proven wrong. The fact that it took me quite a while to finish the salad alone was a great indication that everything else would be just as sizable. ​The salad was fresh, though I do wish the croutons weren't quite so massive. But that's a minor detail, and it certainly didn't detract from the meal. ​The meats were, without a doubt, the major standout of the dinner. The ribs along with the cuts of brisket and pork belly were accompanied by tasty bowls of creamed corn pudding and cole slaw. I focused on the brisket and the pork belly first, and they were perfectly tender, juicy, and bore a great hint of smokiness. ​You might think with just two ribs, I ate them in a flash. However, that wasn't the case; the ribs were huge and so rich with deliciously sweet meat that easily fell off the bone. I even told the bartender--I was sitting at the bar to catch the Astros game--that because there was so much food, I almost forgot about the ribs! ​The pecan cobbler was a fitting ending to a truly massive dinner. The dessert itself was big beyond belief, but despite being stuffed, I still managed to make my way through it. I could describe it as sweet, rich, and satisfying. The ice cream that served as the foundation had melted, which I didn't mind at all since it meshed well with the pecans. ​To conclude, this HRW experience at DBS was nothing short of a five-star meal. A party of 4 chose Delta Blues to celebrate a special birthday. We have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. The service was lacking. The server kept forgetting items we asked for. Amongst other things. I feel that Delta Blues has probably cooked a medium rare 6 oz steak before but somehow the birthday girl's was delivered well done. We asked Christophe if this was Delta Blue's idea of a medium rare steak. He said no and he would quickly bring out another one. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited. The 3 of us at the table were eating very slowly. Unnaturally slowly so the birthday girl would not have to eat by herself. The expedited replacement came well after the others had finished eating. Wr spoke to the manager who did not give us his name. We found the faked apology nauseating and patronizing. He said he would comp the meal. We didn't want a comped meal. We wanted to celebrate a milestone birthday with friends, picked Delta Blues to host, and several staff members blew it. We want to thank each and every Delta Blue employee who ruined this milestone birthday. I'm sure people do not frequent Delta Blues to leave hungry but the birthday girl did. One bite of the well done steak and it was hard to imagine the extra special effort it took to make it taste so bland, tasteless, and terribly overcooked. We could not imagine the extra effort it took to locate and serve the most overcooked dry baked potato which tasted days old but Delta Blues excelled at the task. This location needs better servers, managers and, apparently chefs who know what, exactly a medium rare steak is supposed to be. Several of us would be happy to show the chef how to properly prepare steak if need be. The manager seemed to think charging us for 3 filets and writing off 2 when only 2 were ordered should be celebrated. You know what should have been celebrated? The birthday. Instead the birthday girl received horrible food, barely appropriate service and a patronizing manager. Giving a $75.00 gift card did not make up for the birthday girl sitting at a table watching the others eat their meal. Not to mention leaving hungry. She did not eat the remade steak nor took it home. She was so disgusted at the entire evening she did not keep the unwanted gift card either. It was given away. Why? Because Houston is filled with excellent restaurant teaming with quality food and good service and it is those restaurants we will be frequenting. Delta Blues failed. You should be ashamed of yourselves. If we owned this restaurant we would be horrified that any customer had this experience at my place. It is inexcusable. Been meaning to get to Delta Blues for a little while now. Buddy of mine has been talking about the smoked pork belly which I received as an appetizer. The flavor of the sauce of the pork belly which I believe is a cola sauce was really good. I just believe that they were slightly dry. I ordered the pork rib combo which came with the smoked beans and potato salad. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and I would rate them really high. There is only one good place in San Diego, and our most favorite place has always been Virgil's Real BBQ - NYC! I found this place on Yelp, and I can officially say it is now our #1 favorite BBQ place thus far!!! Oh my goodness... let me tell you! Pork belly is a must! So tender and delicious. We came here with a party of eight on a Saturday and had an early reservation of 5:30 pm but it was still packed. We ordered a range of dishes, from steak, chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, brisket sandwiches and burgers. If you are the type of person who wavers between chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, I can tell you that the chicken is better, but it is saltier. The burgers were reportedly good cooked at Medium and the brisket met expectations. Going back to the appetizers, the brisket nachos were a hit-it has beans!!, as was the brisket queso, and the chicken wings. For dessert, the mud pie was shared and it was as chocolatey as it was rich. They have screens and a bar area, but most people seemed really into their tablemates so the TVs didn't attract much attention. Service was good for the most part but we did have an incident where we waited entirely too long for the last two entrees (burger + brisket sandwich) to hit our table, but the manager addressed it, and also took those off our bill -which we didn't expect, simply wanted everyone to enjoy their food simultaneously. Went with my friend for lunch the other day and it was so delicious. Our server was a little too attentive but we were just having a girls day trying to catch up and didn't want the interruptions. Our food was amazing though. We ordered the deviled eggs and I got the steak salad. The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how I love it and their vinaigrette dressing was so so good and complimented my salad perfectly. My friend ordered the pork chops and it was HUGE, again cooked perfectly. She let me taste it and it was hands down one of the best pork chops I've ever tasted. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the waitress was very kind! We came in at 5:30 on a Friday, were seated around 5:50 (had a reservation for 10 that got messed up). The food was good overall but had a few gripes -- the service was pretty slow and by the time the kiddos got their dinners they were hangry. And then they were falling asleep at the table and didn't eat much of it because it took over an hour. In addition the portion of brisket was tiny in the combo -- 3 super thin small slices, really just a couple of bites (in all the pictures I saw on yelp it was 4 pretty hearty pieces). Whereas the ribs in my husband's combo took up half the plate. The pork belly I got was also all shredded and didn't have a ton of flavor, and looked nothing like the pictures on yelp (I think I got what was left over). It was tasty food generally and thankfully I didn't have a huge appetite but I could see others being disappointed. I also don't think I'd bring kids again and also try to eat at an off time. Came in on a Thursday and the place was packed so i would recommend putting in a reservation. The service was good the food came out within 15 minutes. The green beans were well seasoned. I order my steak medium but next time i know that i should get rare. The parking lot is small so you will have to park a little further. Overall the experience was worth 4 stars read more

Texas BBQ don't play! The brisket combo is the best and worth the money. Large portions, comes with brisket, a choice of meat and 2 sides. The brisket melts in your mouth, the roll is so fluffy and the sausage is full of flavor. Highly recommend getting the mac n cheese and beans for sides! Don't miss out on trying all the bbq sauces they give in the baskets. The pecan pie in a jar is a great dessert choice! The servers are very friendly and make great recommendations.
