We put ourselves on the waitlist an hour before we wanted to eat-- perfect timing, right? No. When we got there (according to the Yelp time) they said it would be at least twenty more minutes. That's fine, it's downtown Indy on a Saturday night. Plus, the weather was decent so waiting outside was actually pleasant. Until it wasn't. Apparently right before we showed up, their entire computer system crashed or something. So they weren't taking new tables despite people leaving. However, no one from the restaurant told anyone waiting outside what had happened. So we stood outside for an hour past when we were supposed to be sat, thinking we'd get in "any minute now". My husband eventually went to see if there was an estimated time & then he was told about the system malfunction. I'm not saying it was anyone's fault the system crashed. It was, however, someone's responsibility to TELL us (and the 4 parties ahead of us) the situation. We could've found a new restaurant and been sat and probably eaten our entire meal in the time we stood outside waiting. This was the third or fourth time we've tried to eat here. At this point, I doubt we'll ever make it to a table. We will most likely not be returning due to incompetence and negligence from the staff. read more

One word about this experience.....Wow! I suggested this place to my coworkers since it has been years that a few of us have been to a Dick's Last Resort. I enjoyed my time at Dick's Last Resort in Dallas years ago so thought it was going to be fun. We were aware that they will be rude and we were ready for straws to be thrown at us. The hostess was nice and we were seated quickly for lunch. As soon as our server came, she threw paper and straws at us. We knew the service was going to be a bit rough, but it was a little overboard. She looked so annoyed to be at work and we felt the heat. I watched other servers, they were not that bad at all so not sure what's going on here. As the service went on, she lightened up. Thank goodness. We laughed at her jokes and the silly hats we wore. I ordered the shrimp basket with fries. Pretty decent for lunch. My coworker ordered a beer and wasn't told it would be more than the 40oz beer since they make you buy a souvenir cup. You bring your receipt to the hostess on the way out to get a clean cup in a box. read more

Went to Dick's Last Resort to celebrate my twin daughters' 18th birthday. Was expecting to have a fun dinner experience with the usual wit, sarcasm, silly hats and birthday related shenanigans Dick's is famous for. Informed the manager it was their birthday upon being seated, informed our waitress and wrote it on the table. She asked us to write our dinner and drink order on the table. After we did, she took a picture with her phone which included my note. Nothing. No recognition at all. No hats. No fun. Disappointed and won't likely be back. read more

Meh. I get it. I do. But, I don't think I like it. There's a definite difference between being sarcastic (hello? QUEEN of sarcasm here) and being downright rude. I think, perhaps, Dick's should go for either or - either bad service OR sub-par food. The combination of the two is a bit much for me. My friends and I went for#DevourDowntown , so luckily, our bill was relatively low. We had catfish nuggets as an appetizer, which were actually pretty good. We split the shrimp-a-palooza(twelve assorted shrimp with sides) and the Dolly (two chicken breasts with rice and corn). Neither was overwhelmingly delicious, but both were ok. Our dessert was a warm (cold) cookie sundae. Not a bad deal at 2 for $30, but not a place I'd trip over my self to return to. I suppose if you're in downtown Indy, you're starving, and you have $30 per person to burn (regular menu prices) Dick's wouldn't be too bad as a last resort. read more

Ever have a day where you just want to shout random offensive things while chugging a drink and throwing napkins on the floor? Go to Dicks. Located in the downtown Indianapolis area, Dicks was a stop I made with a group of friends, starving and looking for grub. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the hostess and loud music. There's tissue all over the floors and it's actually OKAY! The point here is to be an a**hole. Our waiter actually threw straws at us at one point. Everyone gets an offensive hat, which are utterly hilarious. The DJ was pretty awesome and so was the atmosphere. I did have issues with the food though. I ordered the crab boil because on the pic it looked plentiful and delicious. Lies. The plate of food I got was very........ needing of more food! Lol It was mediocre at best. I also ordered the huge margarita which was 23 bucks; it tasted like straight mixer. If I didn't get to keep the glass, I would've been pissed. After being on a long flight to Indianapolis City, Indiana. All I knew is that, "I wanted food! And I want it now in my mouth!" (Pun Intended) After walking around Downtown Indianapolis... I saw people leaving Dick's Last Resort with the white paper hats with saying on them. I then recalled several youtube/facebook videos of a server name Cherrie insulting her customers. If you have thick skin and don't take insults to heart then this will be a blast for you! I had no idea what was waiting for me! Setting: Dick's Last Resort is located in Downtown Indianapolis on the corner of W. Maryland St and Illinois Street. It's between Steak 'n Shake & Noodles and Company. Service: This is a fun restaurant and bar to eat at.  The staff has issues which is part of the experience.  They are rude and basically treat you like a d*.  It's all part of the fun because you can mess with them too!  I came here on a Monday Night before closing and it was super slow. Staff was extremely attentive to me and threw tons of insults at me. Food: The food options are decent... Their are not a lot to choose from. They can run About $20 a plate or higher depending on what you get. I personally got the Wings + Steak Salad. - Wings The appetizer parmesan cheese wings was quite larger than I imagined. It was as if they slab on tons of parmesan cheese sauce on it. - Steak salad It was alright... They had steak on top on a salad mixed with dressing. Salad seem crunchy which is good! Price wise... It is a little more expensive! But you are paying for the experience. Overall: Overall, this is a fun and EXTREMELY unique experience. My least favorite experience in a long time. I have been to Dick's before so knew what to expect and had a fun time and lots of laughs before. This was a terrible experience all around. The food was not good at all. We had a group of 14 and not one person enjoyed their meal. In fact, 3 of us purposely left our leftover container on the table. Our server went above and beyond to be miserable but didn't even try to make it fun. I know they are not supposed to be nice but could still make it fun as we saw other servers doing nearby. I was excited to go to Dicks Last Resort despite my son saying he didn't think we should eat there. Always wanted to eat at a restaurant where the staff is insulting. We waited a bit for our table. Once seated, we noticed a family that came in after us was seated almost immediately after we were. Our waitress was great in the beginning and we were enjoying ourselves. That enjoyment turned into disappointment and boredom. Half hour into our wait for our meal, our waitress came out and apologized for the wait and said our food would be out in 5 minutes. My husband asked for another beer. A few minutes later, the family that was seated after us had finished and left. Still, we had no food. Twenty minutes later we got our food and my husband got his beer. Not only did we wait an hour, but the steak was nasty and so was my son's alfredo. For almost $120 we could have gone elsewhere and recieved better food and service. Majorly disappointed! read more

Come in here with six middle schoolers and the parents for a birthday celebration. This was my first time at a Dick's and it really exceeded my expectations. The staff was truly entertaining, engaging the kids throughout the meal and had them laughing so hard some were crying! Truth be told I wasn't expecting much from the food but Dick's surprised me. The Buffalo Chicken Wings were tender and flavorful with a nice subtle heat finish. The Chicky fried Chicky with the jalapeños gravy was awesome. The server recommended loaded mashers to accompany it and it was a great call. Another parent loved the Baja Fish Tacos but the biggest raves came from the two parents who ordered the peel-n-eat shrimp. The only thing holding me back from scoring this experience a 5th star was the number of menu items not available (I'm sure this is out of their hands) & long wait times on bar drinks. read more

A large group from my office had planned lunch out today, and someone suggested Dick's. Not my favorite place, but I hadn't been here for quite awhile and I hoped that the food quality had improved. Sad to say, the menu and the quality of the food hadn't changed. Within our large group we managed to order almost everything on the lunch menu. We passed things around, shared and sampled, and found everything to be either greasy or bland. The only thing that most of us liked was the pickle chips, and yes, they too were greasy but at least they tasted good, unlike the other greasy food items. Overpriced for the quality of the food. This is a place where it's funny to go once for the experience. It's a different kind of environment, and if you have the right group, the sass and attitude from the servers is funny and you'll pitch it right back to them. This place is not for anyone that is easily offended. We loved our server and she had a good amount of sarcasm without being rude, but I've heard that's not always the case. The hats they make you wear are a good time! But i repeat - if you're easily offended, you won't like it. This restaurant is made for large groups. Sooo many big tables! We had no problem getting in with 8 people on a weekend. There's also a lot of interesting things to look at. The decor is pretty unique. The food is not good enough to make me want to come back. It's a pretty small and limited menu. It's also very pricey. I had the Southwest Salad with chicken, which was good but not amazing. Someone at the table ordered the nachos appetizer and shared a bit and they actually were awesome! Everyone said their food was pretty good but nothing to rave about. I'd rather eat at an Applebee's where they don't sneak in $15-$20 worth of extra hidden "up-charges" on you bill hoping you don't notice. Good place if you want Southern cooking (i.e., everything fried), waitresses with attitude, and drinks in obscenely expensive and large glasses, which appears to their shtick. Not a good place if you are dining with kids (Unless you like explaining, "Daddy, what's Brokeback Mountain?" "Why is that lady's name Pickles?" "Is that man's name really Bubbles?). Also not a good place if you're looking for a green salad, inexpensive eats, or on a 12-step program. Food menu is pretty extensive and written on the walls, but the printed bar menu fills both sides, which makes you wonder which one is more permanent. Appetizers are on the light side (more chips and fries than fish or gator) and make a poor substitute for a light meal. Entrees are more substantial, but also a lot more expensive. But there's lots of schmaltz on the walls and loud interactions between the staff and the patrons that will distract you from the small portions and high prices, and it's one of the few places downtown open past 9! read more

I've always enjoyed going to Dick's when I see them in different cities and have made it a point of collecting their pint glasses. But this one included the glasses in my bill without even asking me and I thought that was quite a "dick" move. Anyway, the food is okay for a chain and they always have several seafood choices which is a plus for me like crab legs and there is two claws in their crab leg orders with lots of butter. But never any crackers. They just have this weird plastic knife like gadget that I hate. Anyway, now I have some Vegas pint glasses that I didn't ask for and I've never even been to Vegas. Went here with my friends for a fun night out and it was so much fun! You're definitely paying for the experience so it's more expensive but it was definitely a fun experience! I don't get this place at all. The "i don't care" service attitude can be amusing if done right. That was not our experience. We arrived late. The dining room was closed so we went to the bar. First let me say as a first time visitor ( our bartender asked if we were ) there is no warning for the experience you are about to have. We were wondering; what's with this guy? Is he for real? He would switch back and forth from being a total asshole to a nice guy. He said he would check on our food but he couldn't because he didn't speak Spanish. Wow can I just say this place is a once in a lifetime experience , I saw it on TikTok a couple months ago and I was so excited to find one in Indiana for my FFA trip. The wait was long only cause only the whole United States FFA chapters were there. Although the staff was awesome I had 2 servers one was Autumn who was hilarious and fun. And the other I totally forgot his name, but I was told he looked like lip from shameless. The food was ok, I mainly went for the experience and it was better than I expected!
